Very good service and all my allergies were professionally dealt with and correctly served

We had a Groupon voucher for any pizza and pasta and a bottle of wine. We have been here many times before with this deal and had unlimited choice but the menu has changed and there was only a choice of four pizzas and four pastas. We struggled to choose because they were the most boring pizzas and pastas which I could have had anywhere.

Although we were prebook as a large party with children and food preordered. We held on an went In late so chef could organise. It really was totally disorganised. Although the bulk of easy pizza an garlic bread starters came quickly the gluten free meal an starters were either late or unedible or came with the main. Some main was so late we gave up. The young girl who served us was friendly and apologetic. And was basically left to get on with it. Think manager was hiding as nowhere to be seen after we agreed ro wait.

Stayed in the Holiday Hotel, so I visited the bar, which I believe is part of the restaurant. I ordered a pizza and chips whilst watching the euros football on one of several telicisions in the bar. It was fairly busy and had a nice atmosphere.

The service was very attentive without being obtrusive. The menu was full of delicious dishes although some were not available. The ambience of the restaurant was lovely although being a Sunday evening was quiet.

Sea bass of menu at 7pm Good Friday Fish and Chip alternative was very poor, fish passable but chips were almost inedible. Staff were professional and when we explained we were not paying the service charge owing to the quality of the meal and it was not a reflection on them, they said we need not apologise.

Booked for my partners birthday. Selected the main menu on booking rather than the set menu to be told that actually they were only operating the valentines menu despite those eating in the bar being able to order from the main menu. Starters from main menu were great quality but set menu was of a shocking standard. My partner ordered the steak which was overcooked and unseasoned and the onion rings were swimming in grease. By the time we even got staff attention or anyone checked on us to see how the food was it was almost 30 minutes later and we had no appetite to wait for another meal to be cooked again. They clearly cannot handle a set menu looking at last years reviews also so I don’t know why there’s an insistence to do so. Servers not attentive, not present, all standing around the till and not watching tables. It’s a shame as we had heard good things but very disappointing that it was a polar opposite.

Beautiful atmosphere! Food is delicious and reasonably priced. This place is a hidden gem. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

We had the 2 for 1 Pasta/Pizza option. While the meal was pleasant and edible, the Carbonara lacked a creamy sauce making it feel a bit dry. We chose Tiramsu for desert - it was full of cream and lacked the normal Tiramsu taste. Sorry, but you asked for our opinion.

Popped in for a really early pizza, the staff were very pleasant, service was efficient and friendly and the pizza was great/delicious! Thanks guys for helping us grab a speedy bite!

Twice I’ve been here now and the food has been beautiful. Would highly recommend the Fratello’s pizza :) the staff are lovely too.

The chicken wings need a rethink. Bland, overcooked, tough and minimal sauce. £9 for what can be served better in a local chicken shop for a fraction of the price. The pizza was ok. What you'd expect for a restaurant in a holiday inn.

When you view a restaurants menu online you expect it to be the same when you arrive at the restaurant! Not in this one. Very limited menu compared to whats advertised on their website. Extremely limited. Very poor.

Super food, and friendly staff. Ate here 3 nights and couldn’t fault food. Good wine choice at very reasonable prices plus access to next door bar for drink afterwards.

Amazing friendly staff, couldn't have been more helpful. The food for our party of 3: one starter was lovely, one main was too but, the rest were disappointing and in my opinion overpriced. As I understand it, there are however some great offers on so next time I dine, it'll probably be via a deal or offer

My wife and I ate at Fratello's when we stayed at the Hilton Hotel. We booked a table for 7pm and when we arrived we could see that the restaurant was very busy, we waited a couple of minutes before being shown to our table. We thought we would be waiting a while to be served, but low and behold the service that we had was fantastic, our drink and food orders were taken within five minutes of us sitting down and we didn't have to wait long before the food was served. Everything about the night was great and our thanks go out to the staff that looked after us.

Always dine here when in Newcastle. Good food great service and good value. I don't do recommendations. Why? Because all our tastes differ.

We booked to celebrate my sons graduation. The service and food were excellent. Only thing that would have made it even better was an acknowledgment to him graduating. We have been to other places before where staff have given a card or said happy birthday, congratulations on the occasions.

A late finish on a Friday at Kingston Park left us needing food and many places which had stopped serving. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were the only people in. They took our order no problem (last food orders at 9.45pm and we were in around 9.15pm). The food was amazing and served in a good time given that I'm sure the chef had started to close the kitchen down when we turned up. I would 100% visit again when in the area. Thanks Fratello's, you made 3 rugby mums and a young lad very happy!

Ate here with my partner and son. We happened upon the restaurant whilst staying in the vicinity of the airport. I ordered puttanesca pasta which I have made at home and have also ordered in restaurants before. The menu described this as having cherry tomatoes. There were no tomatoes in the dish served to me. The dish was extremely bland, with far too much oil and garlic. Our meals were served without us being given cutlery to eat with. We had to request cutlery as staff didn’t seem to notice. Eventually we were given only forks with the waiter telling us he would source knives for us but they never materialised. I asked for some black pepper (it supposedly being an Italian restaurant I expected to be offered your typical pepper mill and Parmesan), waiter reappeared with a small white pepper shaker. Staff rarely came near our table despite lots of staff wandering around. My son had a kids pizza - the base of which seemed to have been bought in and not freshly made. It was like a supermarket pizza which had been stuck in the wood fire oven for a few minutes. My partner had a burger and seemed to enjoy his. When we sought our staff to request a bill they then gave us the bill for another table. Restaurant appears extremely disorganised. I didn’t enjoy my meal and feel it was a waste of £60.

Rather chaotic evening. Menu not as advertised and drinks and dishes were either wrong or not provided in the proper order. Staff were al pleasant and apologised several times and gave a discount but won't be going there again. Disappointing.

we were the only people in there which made us feel like we were being watched. the pizza was outstanding and the steak was cooked beautifully. waiting staff were lovely however as they seated us quite far away and it was empty in the restaurant, it was clear that they were bored so kept coming over to ask if everything was ok (few too many times).

Had a lovely dinner at Fratellos. Friendly staff and great service. Pasta was perfect and not swimming in sauce, and rosemary and garlic bread was delicious. It was slightly pricey for what it was but we enjoyed it so didn't mind too much! Downside was that the restaurant was empty so no atmosphere to speak of. We would go back however!

The staff were lovely but the food was very disappointing. £25 for 3 courses is good value but the portions were absolutely tiny. I'd rather have paid 25 for 2 courses but you got a bit more! The main came out on small plates, a bit like you would get at a wedding. Compare their Sunday roast to any pub restaurant and you will be very disappointed. The cauliflower and broccoli were so undercooked they were unedible! The place was empty... now I know why! I won't be returning, even though the staff were very warm and helpful. The place needs a rethink - you are right on the doorstop of thousands of students who were all probably out on a sat night - craving a homecooked Sunday lunch... I would go and see the millhouse at Birtley, spread Eagle in North Shields, or woodmans arms in Whickham.. you will see how a Sunday roast should be served. Good luck :)

Best meal I've had in a hotel. Garlic bread was amazing, and I had the prawn pasta which was delicious. Big portions. Service was excellent.

I booked a table with 2 of my friends for an evening meal 3 weeks in advance and paid £10 deposit each. We arrived just before half 6 (the time of our booking). We were seated pretty quickly with drink order taken. Our food order was taken quite quickly after which was the only quick service we received. Our starters came after almost half an hour of waiting. We were left with empty glasses and plates on our table for over 20 minutes, having to ask for them to be taken away and new drinks. I asked where our food was 3 times, eventually mains arrived at 25 past 8, half of it was wrong. I sent one pizza back and waited another 15 minutes for it come out correct. When asked where our food was, we were told ‘I’ll go find it’ I didn’t realise we’d entered into a game of hide and seek. Staff were walking round in circles with food, no idea what table had ordered what. Initially only got a drink each taken off the bill, however at the end were told all drinks and starters were removed from the bill. 2 waiters had absolutely no idea what they were doing, you’d of thought it was their first day. Never witnessed service like it. Only received an apology from one more senior looking member of staff. Will not be returning.

Drinks and food order messed up by young, unprofessional male waiter. Restaurant was overpriced and had no atmosphere, would not have booked if I had realised it was part of the Holiday Inn.

Went for a valentine’s meal. Took 30 minutes and us going up to ask for our order to be taken. Order was taken 2 more times after that, and food didn’t arrive until almost 2 hours of us getting there. We had ordered a starter, a main and a dessert each, and we only ended up receiving a main after all the waiting, so we decided to call off the starter and the dessert as we had spent way too long for our food to arrive. Service was poor, we had asked the waiters about our food multiple times, only for them to leave to check and never come back. We only received a partial refund at the end, and what we paid had exceeded the value of the food we received, nevermind the inconvenience caused. Even though the food was good, the overall service was poor, and will not be returning.

Having arrived at 7:30, the time we had booked a table for, we waited 10 mins to be seated. We had to call a waiter over at 8:10 to take drinks and food order, as we had been looking at the single page menu for long enough. 2 cokes, 1 steak and 1 Cesar salad quickly became a running joke. At 8:30 someone came over to check what we had ordered! 1 steak, 1 cesar salad!, drinks arrived 10 mins later. At 8:50 another waiter came over to ask what we had ordered for the third time. 1 STEAK, 1 CESAR SALAD. Reminded me of Fawlty Towers episode, i was determined to get my food, though my partner wisely wanted to leave. At 9:30 arrived 1 steak, sirloin cooked unevenly so half was well done and half medium rare, with peppercorn sauce that was cold to touch that chef forgot to heat. The Cesar salad was fine though chicken bits were over cooked cold and dry. At least we were done eating by 9:35! The manager was a lovely guy, clearly under a lot of pressure, apologised and was the only saving grace of a comedy Valentine’s dinner.

Disappointed my wife could not have a meal which was advertised on the website. Plus the apparent lack of staff for the amount of diners

Arrived at 19:00 with a booking for Valentine’s and waited over an hour for our starters to arrive after ordering almost instantly. Had to leave because it was taking so long and no one was getting their food. One chef in the kitchen had made 5-6 pizzas and left them under the hot light for 45 minutes and no one delivered them. Only 3 servers and 2 were permanently stuck to the tills despite no one else arriving. We complained and asked for the deposit back then left.

We were allocated a time slot of 7pm however we were seated by 6.45as the restaurant was not busy. We then tried to flagg a member of staff down to take our order at 7.15pm. waitress took the order and drinks and took another 20 minutes to being out first drinks to us. We had asked a waiter to go and check in time for food. He did that and didn't come back to inform us of the time wait. However at the is point we got very frustrated and annoyed to where at 8.15pm we had no food still we ended up seeing the restaurant manager and obviously complained to where he didn't seem bothered no apology or anything. We will get our refund and I'm taking this higher. Pure unacceptable level of service for a restaurant that came highly recommended

Absolutely disgraceful, went with my partner for valentines and was sat down at 7pm. Order was not taken until 7:30 and there was no warning of a delay or any apologies. Fast forward to 9pm and we still had not been given our starters. By this point we were fuming and asked for our order to be cancelled and left without any food. Such a shame especially on valentines as this ruined our night. If we were warned and the service was better I could be more understanding but there was not even an apology

Good for a reasonably priced restaurant. Starter sharing platter is very tasty. No complaints with pasta or pizza. Service was quite slow despite it not being busy.

I asked if orange juice was fresh. They said yes. Then got me carton juice. Ordered 3 pasta arrabiata. All three were cold then asked if it could be reheated. Second time it came back cold again. The manager acknowledged it but did not nothing just apologised. I would not recommend it to anyone. Sorry for writing this but it was awful experience

Food was tremendous, however service was very poor. Waited an hour between starter and main and also waited half an hour for our empty plates to be cleared from the table and that was only after we had called for a manager as it was getting beyond a joke.

We had a shared platter to start with and it was very tasty and plentiful. Penny ariabata was tasty but penne slightly soft. The beef and pork ragu lasagne was overly tomato flavoured. The green salad was smothered in oil. But the pizzas which we didn't have looked good. Price point was fair.

My son, daughter, partner and myself had a selection of very different dishes across our three courses and everything was excellent. The food was very tasty, well thought out and good value too. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

Fratello's is a convenient place to eat when staying at the Holiday Inn Jesmond. It was very busy in the Restaurant and as such the service was very slow- 15 to 20 mins before our bread platter arrived! Quality of food was excellent and the staff delightful.

We booked a meal for two using a Groupon voucher and the offer was a pizza or pasta plus a bottle of wine. We have never been to Fratellos and just fancied a pizza. The pizzas were great but I feel the service was disappointing. I know we booked via Groupon but we asked about ordering a wine other than the house one and we're told quite briskly that we could only have the house wine. I really just wanted to know if we needed to pay the full price or the difference. No options were given. When the bill arrived it was the full price not with the Groupon discount applied. Given that it was mentioned at least 3 times by the staff that we had the Groupon offer it was a pretty big oversight to present us with an incorrect bill. I've never used a Groupon voucher before but I came away feeling that the pizza was very nice but that we were an inconvenience to the staff.

When I asked for vegan options I was told they had gluten free. Waiting staff need more training on the difference between these!

Visited after getting a cracking deal on Groupon. The service was exceptional and the food superb. The seating was good with plenty of space between tables, nothing was rushed and the food was served piping hot. Really brilliant main courses (pizza and pasta) - big portions and good value. The stuffed churros were divine!! The waiting staff did a brilliant job. Thank you

Visited today after hearing really amazing things from some friends who have visited a few times. Unfortunately our experience didn’t live up to the expectations we had. It took thirty minutes for us to receive the drinks we ordered and another fifteen before our food arrived. Normally this would not be an issue, but the restaurant appeared to be quiet as it is a Tuesday evening, therefore I’m unsure why service was so slow. Food was okay, nothing too special - it felt a bit overpriced if I’m honest. The menu felt quite limited as well. Overall the atmosphere in the restaurant wasn’t great, at times we felt a bit awkward and uncomfortable. Service was okay but nothing to rave about. Possibly would come back on a weekend if it was more lively, but would avoid returning on a weekday.

How on earth can you run out of red wine by the glass but still be able to serve a full bottle??? Surely a little initiative would suggest that if you run out of the bottles that you usually serve by the glass you work out a price to serve the wines that you usually only serve by the bottle by the glass as well. This is not complicated!

The service was slow due to inadequate staff levels all new staff and lasagna was not tasty restaurant entrance was untidy with packaging on the floor near where booking Inn desk

Fabulous food. The only reason I gave this a 4 star is because there wasn't a good atmosphere. Also, when we asked for an extra portion of chips the chef forgot them.

We booked for our daughter and son in law 25th wedding anniversay where they had their reception 25 years ago. Thank you to Gary and his team for a wonderful night. We were booked for a meal for 6 at 2 o’clock but unfortunately they were just doing afternoon tea for jubilee garry f&b team made it possible for us to have our meal and was very friendly very nice meals would go there again

The food and service were very good and the price very reasonable. The entrance to the restaurant could be better as you walk in via the Holiday Inn and it’s not totally clear.

Called in on a Saturday evening and got seated with no issues at all. Restaurant wasn’t overly busy and ordered the steak and lemon chicken dishes. The wait was longer than we anticipated but the food was cooked to perfection. Probably the tastiest restaurant food we have had in a long time.

Left a message on the 14th of May, still no reply. Restaurant had its doors open but no staff, lights were off, and no sign of anyone to ask. Ended up having lunch elsewhere. What's the point of a booking system when the place might as well be shut??

We absolutely loved our meal, garlic bread to share, pasta dishes superbly cooked, could not fault any of it. Service was steady and at our pace. Evening meal and getting busy but noise level was not intrusive. Value in our opinion was very good . We have no hesitation in recommending this Italian restaurant and will certainly be visiting again

We received exceptional customer service at Fratello’s during our three-night stay. In particular, Head Chef, Darren Tait, is worthy of mention. He made our evening visits to Fratello's Italian Restaurant a truly exceptional and enjoyable dining experience. The customer service we were provided with (both at breakfast and evening meal times) was excellent. Staff were extremely accommodating to our needs and they made us feel very welcome through their friendliness, diligence, dedication and attention to detail - which we especially appreciated. In addition, we would especially mention Ms Sanchez at breakfast times in Fratello’s, for her dedication to great customer service and satisfaction. Her unstinting friendly demeanour was a joy to experience. Both Staff members are much deserving of our recognition and grateful thanks.

Had my 50th birthday party here Saturday nite was absolutely amazing buffet fantastic set out lovely by Darren head chef so helpful anything we needed my cousin was dairy free which i had forgot to mention but Darren went above and beyond to find her something to eat also conner and erin amazing service and friendly with all my guests would recommend the holiday inn for partys room decorated by Elliott was absolutely beautiful we went up Sunday for lunch started doing dinners was delicious definitely recommend it £15 for beef but worth it again Darren went above and beyond with us for dinner definitely had the best 50th birthday weekend

Fantastic Sunday roast. Great value for money. Beef was so tasty and great portion size. Definitely get in for your Sunday lunch, won't disappoint.

Just had a roast beef dinner and it was simply stunning. Joint of beef was just stunning with the red wine jus. Lush. Next time we're up Newcastle will be here for Sunday lunch again. Banging guys!

There are not enough staff to provide good service. They are doing the best they can. This is actually a restaurant in a Holiday Inn. Food is as average as you’d expect from a Holiday Inn restaurant, but expensive.

Lunch time menu extremely limited. Quality of pizza poor. Very salty couldn't eat much of it. We had lunch at 2pm We were only people in.service was OK

The service certainly could have been better, but the carbonara was the best I've had, beautiful. The atmosphere was great as there was no one else in the restaurant or the accompanying bar. I plan to go again for evening dinner.

Booked last minute and I can’t fault it, service was impeccable, food was to a good standard and when the bill came it was very reasonable! Would recommend and would go again, not bad at all!

Food was really excellent. I was not impressed that by 7.15 they had run out of a wine. Also there were significant delays in service. Had to ask twice for water and the wine was simply dumped on the table in an ice bucket. I reiterate that the food was very good.
