Sambal Kitchen & Diner in Harrow

Liked the food and it's worth for money. Ordered King Prawn Briyani and Chicken Kothi Roti for take away and this order took more than 45min on Wednesday evening. So mindful of waiting time, you can also order the food via telephone in advance. In terms of food the fast was very nice and i prefer visiting again. This is located at a walking distance from South Harrow tube station and also you have bus stops nearby. Sambal Express is located nearby where you can get some bakery items.

Love the food here. Its probably the best sri-lankan food i have had. Beware though the food packs a punch spice wise. Not for those with low - med spice tolerance.

Fantastic quality of food! Great flavours and great for families. We enjoyed the lamprais. Also had the devil prawns that was very delicious. To quech our appetite we had the fresh lime juice which was so refreshing! This is a very authentic tasting Sri Lankan food joint! Come and enjoy a delicious meal with all your family and friends! Fantastic service and was ever ready to assist us with our 1 year old daughter.

We have been going there for years and have noticed that service has declined for dine in customers. The servers are busy attending and getting the online orders and do not pay attention to the dine customers. Went there few days back. Our food order took a long time to come. We ordered dessert after main and waited over half an hour, when we enquired from the male server, the female server who took our order told him off in Tamil and proceeded to carry on with the online order. When we wanted to know why we found out that the ladyserver had not put or order in.as they were too busy. Can't stress how bad the service is. I really would like management to reply to this complaint. Is it worth loosing your dine in customer over you online orders??? I did not want to give it any star but had no choice.

Excellent food. I demolished it within seconds 😂 T’was worth the chaos and the wait. Tip: Go with your family or friends and chat away the waiting time.

Just bought two chicken biriyani from here and there was only small 4 pieces of chicken(very small) as you can see in the picture .Paying for this quantity is complete wastage of money.

I had a bad experience I ordered lamprice and sat there for 28 minutes and when I keep asked for food they keep saying 5 mins and I had to walk out and come to another resturent customer service is so bad the person who works there said food won’t come that quick and he can’t do anyting about it even after it wasn’t a busy time there’s only two more tables customers was there I will understand if that was a busy time . Really had a bad experience after long time I went there for lunch and not again

I would recommend this place as the best Srilankan eat out in the area. However this place needs major improvement with their staff and with their service. They need trained and active people at the front, Siva Anna please look into this and sort this out as it’s a lovely place and staff let this place down. Please hire experienced and active staff at the front.

Everything we ordered was delicious, the spiciness of the devil shrimps was peeerfect and the dessert was also yummy. Price is very much affordable!

I have been going to this restaurant so many times. Food is very testy and used to be good potion sizes but lately poison sizes got smaller that is the only negative.I highly recommends this place if you like Sri Lanka food .

First thing I noticed was that although online it said my food was ready when I arrived I was told I needed to wait 10 minutes, I waited 20. The employees clearly don’t care since I saw 3 female workers talking whilst a man waited to be taken care of at the register. For more than 10 minutes they completely ignored him, I guess their conversation was more important. I spent over £120 on a take out order and when I open the containers, the rice and noodles containers were quite full whilst the containers containing, prawns, chicken and fish were less than 50% full, most were filled with lettuce, onion and lemon slices with a couple pieces of meat. Seeing this I was not pleased and so I decided to call the restaurant to make a complaint, the operator not only made fun of my complaints and urged me to leave a negative review, they also did not apologise and hung up the phone on me laughing. Overall terrible experience will not be ordering from here ever again.

One of the best places to have Sri Lankan food in Harrow. Delicious food, good portions for a decent price. Mutton Kottu and Lamprais are my favorite dishes.

Great south Indian food and services

The worse place to dine in South Harrow. We have been there few times the food taste was good enough for the price but the customer service was extremely poor. There was a staff who was very rude to the lady customer with abusive words. The management need to let the staff take some training to learn basic manners to speak with customers!

Happened to visit the place by chance. Chicken biryani was amazing. Didn't quite like the chicken kothu. Place was full on a Saturday even at 4pm. Service could be better. Very affordable, was surprised by the price

Food is good. But customer service at the moment is really bad. Bad management. Waiters always tried to be at till. Get the order without care and don't know how to write properly. Always forgot and never care about customers, who are waiting for food to eat. As a 8 years of regular customer, last time was the worst experience.

We used to go there every weekend, but we stopped going regularly. Nowadays the prices increased and service is not as great as it used to. Food was ok.

Very friendly atmosphere with a homely feeling, staff are very courteous and willing to help. I have now become a regular and frequent visitor here.

Worst customer service. Keeping customer waiting for just one dosa for about 45minutes and specially when I clearly asked how long the order will take. And taste is not that upto the mark that one can wait for so long. Upon sharing disappointment the person has no concern to accept the mistake

Our local friend took us for lunch here. What a delicious meal. Filter coffee at the end was superb as well. Very courteous staff as well.

Great food but a little spicy. Wish they were able to offer you the choice of level of spice for your dish.

Lamb Biriyani and string hoppers were really good. “Lamprais” was a total disappointment. It was more like rice and curry wrapped in banana leaf. food prices were reasonable.

The food is nice. Mainly the dosa and fried rice is what I prefer. But once I had an issue. I had to wait more than 30min for my fried rice. I was late for my work and the rice was so dry and not nice. Sometimes you may face some service issues as well as I did. But otherwise, everything else is good.

Great place.i used to love this place but unfortunatley my last visit was not exellent. Hopper wasnt crunchy and it was like a roti. And the quality of the products bit low and portions and favours are missing.customer service is still really good And clean and a attractive restaurant .

Wow, wow, wow! How many superlatives can I give this place? Absolutely divine grub at very reasonable prices. The Fish Meal in the photo cost £6.95 and I guarantee would fill anyone up. Highly recommend. I cannot fail to as I'll be back, albeit with high expectations of yummy food and attentive service!

The food is good an authentic, the pricing is very reasonable.

We used to love this place for its tasty Sri Lankan meals and have been there tons of time! However after the lockdown, our return to Sambal Diner didn’t gave us the same feeling instead the experience was unwelcoming with blunt food and dull customer service. Their standard has gone down sadly. We have ordered 2 chicken biryanis but for our surprise ,There is no Chicken piece , when asked , we have told that due to the portion size!? they don't add a chicken piece, instead we have find few tasteless tiny chicken cubes mixed up in the rice, which is more looks like a fried rice than a biryani. Its a massive drop in quality of food and customer service of the restaurant, Staff are not interested, to talk or serve the customers. Management defiantly need to take action to reinforce the former standard of this place. Not sure if we return back anytime soon, highly disappointed!!!

It is a great restaurant for vegetarians and non vegetarians, the food is delicious and doesn't take very long to get your food when you order it and the staff are very helpful. Chilli paneer is yummy and also vegetarian kothu roti.

I wonder to have a mothers day special today. I came and ordered but I waited nearly more than 50 min but I could not serve anything. Ahaa ! one mother was disappointed by their service. I know it was a busy day. But after me the tables are given. My table service was poor. This mothers day 😪😪

Best Srilankan restaurant in South Harrow. This restaurant never disappoints me. The food is tasty and is served super hot. My favourite dish is flaky parota n chicken curry. Have tried their Rasam, the quantity was enough for 2 people, it was super hot and awesome spicy. Mutton rolls were amazing. Chicken biryani was moist ,with right amount of spices.Dining here doesn't cut a hole in your pocket , so do visit.

Every time I go there, the food and service is outstanding.

Excellent customer service as always from the incredibly beautiful and talented Monika. Anything extra extra spicy is usually the best thing to order with at least 2 large mango lassi and a masala tea.

It's one of the best Sri lankan restaurants in South harrow. Also the staffs are very dedicative and helpful. This take away Express is always busy and the foods are maintained higher quality. The environment is so clean and tidy meantime all customers are requested to follow the covid restrictions.It's really good habit in here.Overall this is the best place to buy food in South harrow.

One of my favourite places to eat for many years now. Fantastic, spicy vegetarian choices (and plenty of meat and fish ones if that's what you like) at a very decent price. Lunch specials served on the weekends and a pint of their Lion Stout is always a good shout :)

I ordered first time take away from sambal own website and spend £45, all the food completely rubbish, fried rice I can smell the gone off egg. all small potion at least they should give a tasty food for the money. You should keep on your website customer review page. cheap but waste.

Absolutely top notch. This is our go-to restaurant for the extremely tasty food at incredibly reasonable prices. It's the closest thing to a taste of home we've come across for anyone from South India/Sri Lanka. We particularly recommend the lunchtime meals, any of the parotta dishes, lampries and so many more. Honestly, it's all worth a try.

In the chicken briyani only 2 small pieces of chicken...in seafood fry only half dish and the other half is onions...
