Sambal Kitchen & Diner in Harrow

This is our favourite local restaurant and we go at least once a week. They cook fresh meals from 12 noon till late at night. I lived in Malaysia and had a Tamil cook so the food here reminds me of the delicious meals I had there. Staff are very friendly. Can be busy at times, especially weekends but worth waiting for. I sometimes pop in for a quick dosa on my own and that is served in minutes. Restaurant has a licence to serve alcohol. Menu has a wide range of meat and vegetarian dishes. The degree of chilli 'hotness' can be adjusted to suit customer. Very reasonable prices.

Delicious Sri Lankan food at Sambal. Dilki was very courteous and prompt. Will be there again very soon to try more dishes. Very reasonable price…!!! Highly recommended…!!!

Great place to eat Sri Lankan food, I loved their hoppers and masala dosa and unforgettable lamprice. Alcohol drinks are limited, I wish they allow guests to bring wine along. I will take friends at any time to rebound with an amazing g cuisine, because Sambla make it so much like at home 🤩🤩⭐️

We had several dishes. The milk hoppers were fantastic and so wad the strong hopper kuthu. The regular kuthu was average. The fresh juice was a nice addition.

1. Zero customer service and attentiveness by staff 2. Staff busy Prioritising only a big group of extremy noisy grown up man who were having drinks, thinking they were the only ones in the restaurant! No consideration for other people specially families with babies and kids! 3. No cutlery tissues given 4. Food was spilled on our clothes while serving by female staff ( rasam) and no replacement was given or even a SORRY! 5. Had to literally call out 6 times for baby chair Don't bother to come here with young kids, inconsiderate guests who yells talk loud while having drinks and keep bumping their chairs onto yours as they keep moving about. Staff also do not say anything rather more devoted in serving people who are in for alcoholic drinks. Food was cold and disappointing with ac blasting above your head!

Absolutely Zero customer service and lack of communication skills. We were served after more than 15 minutes , There was only two staff members are serving at the counter, looking after the table service also serving the online orders collections. NEED MORE STAFF. Table service was absolutely terrible and it was clearly prioritised to serve the online orders.

Lady serving was not so friendly and was questioning me when I showed her the.. portion size of meat.. very rude. Sambar was watered down and refused to refund me.. I am disappointed as I have been visiting this restaurant for many years. Defiantly won’t be returning.

### Restaurant Review I recently visited a restaurant that, despite not being busy, offered a disappointing dining experience. Upon arrival, we were seated at a dirty table, and after a few minutes, I had to request the waitress to clean it. Unfortunately, the waitstaff were also quite loud, which added to the overall unpleasant atmosphere. I ordered the chicken kottu with fried chicken, but the chef refused my request and suggested fried chicken rice instead. It was puzzling, as I couldn't understand why they couldn't simply add the fried chicken to the kottu when the portion sizes seemed similar. After finishing our starters, we waited over 15 minutes for our main courses. To make matters worse, the staff didn't even clear the table, so we had to deal with empty starter plates while waiting for our food to arrive. This lack of attention to detail really detracted from the overall experience. In summary, the combination of poor service, unclean tables, and inadequate communication made this visit frustrating. I hope the restaurant can improve its service and address these issues in the future.

Mutton curry portion is very small. Used to be good. It getting smaller and smaller. Why? Not worth for the money. I'm a reqular customer. Very disappointed

The real authentic Sri Lankan food, you could not fine the taste of Jafna anywhere in UK. The price is incompatible compare to other Asian restaurants in UK.The waitress are friendly and very helpful We were served by Tamilkavi , she is so sweet and friendly.All our orders were taken by her and she make sure it is cooked according to our need. I specially ordered from sambal kitchen and diner but got the food from sambal express. Being a regular customer of both the places I know how the lamprice will be sold in both places. I ordered from the kitchen since they sell the food wrapped up in banana leaf not a piece of banana leaf on top and below. Very disappointing.

I was a regular customer, but today was chaotic. I ordered a lemon juice, which was mistakenly given to someone else. When that person said they didn't order anything, the staff gave me the same juice. Unbelievable. You need to prioritize health and safety, as well as customer care. I ordered chicken biryani and found a hair in the rice. I've been a loyal customer because the food was usually amazing, but today the staff didn't seem to care. I had to wait over an hour for rice, and the manager never apologized. It feels like you're more focused on making money than providing quality food. Very disappointed. Please improve your standards to ensure better and healthier food for your customers.

I ordered Paratha with Sri Lankan Chicken Curry, which brought back fond memories of home. It was delicious, although a bit expensive. The Payasam they serve is wonderful, and I would return just to have it again.

The food had hair in it. When I complained, they had the nerve to deny it and then condescendingly offered me a free meal, as if I was begging for free food! The staff made me feel like a scammer. I would never recommend this place to anyone because of their outrageous behaviour.

Liked the food and it's worth for money. Ordered King Prawn Briyani and Chicken Kothi Roti for take away and this order took more than 45min on Wednesday evening. So mindful of waiting time, you can also order the food via telephone in advance. In terms of food the fast was very nice and i prefer visiting again. This is located at a walking distance from South Harrow tube station and also you have bus stops nearby. Sambal Express is located nearby where you can get some bakery items.

We have been going there for years and have noticed that service has declined for dine in customers. The servers are busy attending and getting the online orders and do not pay attention to the dine customers. Went there few days back. Our food order took a long time to come. We ordered dessert after main and waited over half an hour, when we enquired from the male server, the female server who took our order told him off in Tamil and proceeded to carry on with the online order. When we wanted to know why we found out that the ladyserver had not put or order in.as they were too busy. Can't stress how bad the service is. I really would like management to reply to this complaint. Is it worth loosing your dine in customer over you online orders??? I did not want to give it any star but had no choice.

Fantastic quality of food! Great flavours and great for families. We enjoyed the lamprais. Also had the devil prawns that was very delicious. To quech our appetite we had the fresh lime juice which was so refreshing! This is a very authentic tasting Sri Lankan food joint! Come and enjoy a delicious meal with all your family and friends! Fantastic service and was ever ready to assist us with our 1 year old daughter.

Just bought two chicken biriyani from here and there was only small 4 pieces of chicken(very small) as you can see in the picture .Paying for this quantity is complete wastage of money.

I had a bad experience I ordered lamprice and sat there for 28 minutes and when I keep asked for food they keep saying 5 mins and I had to walk out and come to another resturent customer service is so bad the person who works there said food won’t come that quick and he can’t do anyting about it even after it wasn’t a busy time there’s only two more tables customers was there I will understand if that was a busy time . Really had a bad experience after long time I went there for lunch and not again

I would recommend this place as the best Srilankan eat out in the area. However this place needs major improvement with their staff and with their service. They need trained and active people at the front, Siva Anna please look into this and sort this out as it’s a lovely place and staff let this place down. Please hire experienced and active staff at the front.

Everything we ordered was delicious, the spiciness of the devil shrimps was peeerfect and the dessert was also yummy. Price is very much affordable!

I have been going to this restaurant so many times. Food is very testy and used to be good potion sizes but lately poison sizes got smaller that is the only negative.I highly recommends this place if you like Sri Lanka food .

Some items were missing. The restaurant blamed it on the delivery driver and were very rude when I called them. Had to go and collect it in person.

First thing I noticed was that although online it said my food was ready when I arrived I was told I needed to wait 10 minutes, I waited 20. The employees clearly don’t care since I saw 3 female workers talking whilst a man waited to be taken care of at the register. For more than 10 minutes they completely ignored him, I guess their conversation was more important. I spent over £120 on a take out order and when I open the containers, the rice and noodles containers were quite full whilst the containers containing, prawns, chicken and fish were less than 50% full, most were filled with lettuce, onion and lemon slices with a couple pieces of meat. Seeing this I was not pleased and so I decided to call the restaurant to make a complaint, the operator not only made fun of my complaints and urged me to leave a negative review, they also did not apologise and hung up the phone on me laughing. Overall terrible experience will not be ordering from here ever again.

Service was extremely terrible. Waited so long for the two starters we ordered, finally only one arrived after repeatedly asked. We were told that the order wasnt given to the kitchen and may take at least 15 more minutes of we still want the second starter . We had to ask for the plates. Overall very disappointing visit.

The food quality was poor and subsitute product was poor qulity and not same vale as original order. Ordered stringhoppers was £5.10 and replaced with one roti £1.95. Roti was very poor quality. Will not recommend or order ever again

Great south Indian food and services

One of the best places to have Sri Lankan food in Harrow. Delicious food, good portions for a decent price. Mutton Kottu and Lamprais are my favorite dishes.

The worse place to dine in South Harrow. We have been there few times the food taste was good enough for the price but the customer service was extremely poor. There was a staff who was very rude to the lady customer with abusive words. The management need to let the staff take some training to learn basic manners to speak with customers!

Sambal certainly has a lot of Sri Lankan varieties of food, such as short eats, string hoppers etc... However, the rice and curries are very much Indian and not authentic Sri Lankan. I appreciate the string hoppers and the vades, Roast Paan, but wish there were more Sri Lankan vegetables and curries available.

Happened to visit the place by chance. Chicken biryani was amazing. Didn't quite like the chicken kothu. Place was full on a Saturday even at 4pm. Service could be better. Very affordable, was surprised by the price
