Sambal Express in Harrow

There’s too much fat and food coloring. They never open on time. When you order dal vada, they don’t provide any sauce with it. As an Indian, I can say that at any Indian restaurant, they always give the proper chutney with any vada you order.

Ordered a birthday cake for my nephew. It was delicious! Massive hit with the family, they all liked it and kept asking where we ordered it from. Will definitely recommend to others. Tasty and not too sweet - well balanced. Nicely designed and great packaging too.

I bought chicken biriyani no chicken or egg and I ask mutton kothu but she gave me mutton biriyani no 3 piece mutton inside and rolls very bad smell.

first time trying here.... food wasn't too bad, I enjoyed it ... not knowing serving sizes was hard as everything is sold by 100gm increments, so it worked out a little pricey. I got a fair amount of food for the price... next time I'll know and order less.

This is only take-away shop in London charging for Carrier bags. They provide plastic bags, if they care about environment, they should provide paper bags.. it’s strange business approach. do you know that if a customer spills their food in your premises, you have to provide the full refund or replacement under the consumer rights?

Great food & service. Just a suggestion: I ordered chicken curry combo with Parota. Pls charge a little more but give some fleshy chicken pieces or at least 1 leg piece. All I get is bones & curry.

Today I had food at 5.30pm the chicken kutto tasteless and so dry. Even seafood devil , the fish smell so bad .

I bought vada & pakora only. Both are good but could have been better. Tasty pakora but not crispy. Ok for London standard but in India, Singapore or Malaysia, this is not so acceptable. But both satisfied my craving.

Excellent food choices, specially Jaffna, Sri Lankan style, well atmospheric dine in place also and 3 shops away take away shop. I went to take away if I ask 25 string hoppers, they will give you in a box, after that purchase you can ask another 25 ok, But unfortunately I genuinely asked 50 string hoppers and please give it to me as two separate 25 &25 , they charged 30pens for packing, Useless kind of behaviour No doubt about taste and quality Typical Jaffna old attitude should be changed Dear management you are rely on customers

The food was completely cold never expected this! it was more like a frozen food with expiry dates on the food. utterly disappointed

I have recommended the Sambal sambal express. If you want to try Sri Lankan food absolutely fantastic. Very tasty food. The vegetarian briyani is superb. 👌 The customer service was great. Price are fair.

The worst staff I have ever seen they they don't care the customer if the customer is buying something small those greedy people want big orders for big numbers racist and I think it's the manager who was there serving that was horrible. Do not recommend this

Could you explain this ??? This is the curry I got for String hoppers! The quality of the food is disappointing. As customers, we expect better for the price we're paying. This is unacceptable and not worth the money. Please ensure that the food you serve meets BASIC STANDARDS of taste and quality.

Lots of srilankan verity spicy foods available in reasonable price. Recommended place for spicy lovers.

I placed an order for cake box, rolls and patties. I got the rolls and patties but not the cake box! I explained when I called to the store what happened only and she went to check what happened. I was then told they had ran out. When I asked why didn't they tell me she said just put a refund request, which can take 7 days. Next time do the courtesy of calling your customers if items are missing before you decide to confirm their order.

Failed to deliver the poll roti in my order and refused to send a replacement or allow my daughter to collect a replacement.

On 24th Jan 2024 I purchased a sweet items and this was completely dry and not soft at all. When I did ask the quality the staff reply was I should tase and check it’s not something Sambal will check the quality of the food they sell. So management expects customer responsibility to check the quality f the food? I strongly advice the all customers we should stand up for Sambal business policy

I went to collect a takeaway and the food was absolutely disgusting. The curries are tasteless. Worst food I ever tasted. One mouth and they went straight to the bin. Please do not waste your money on whatever disgusting they are selling. It's certainly not food! I am giving 1 star because I have to. They don't worth a single star!

The staff are not very polite and patient and the food is not to a great standard. It’s also quite pricey in comparison to competitors in the area.

They didnt send what we ordered. They called to me let me know that they didn’t see my order so what I ordered ran out. I got another food in its place.

Food is very tasty but had to wait a bit longer for food to be served. Also the place was quite cold and needed to be heated up better . Dhosa and idli were tasty as always and so was the devilled paneer. A bit spicy but very tasty paneer.

I had a really poor customer service experience with a person named Sajitha at Sampal Express. I ordered a Sri Lankan sarbath, and she was extremely rude, not even offering a smile. She arrogantly informed me that they had run out of sarbath, despite me noticing another customer receiving the same order from another worker. This was quite disappointing, as I am a regular customer In that shop .

Purchased a box of String hoppers , was put in the fridge , took it out next day morning ….it was full of mould .. very bad quality would never recommend.

I have been going to Sambal for about 7yrs or so. What I have been witnessing lately was that this place is deteriorating. The staff were unprofessional and rude. The place was very dirty. The food quality also gone down. They used to have nice polite staff. Very heart breaking though, as it's used to be a nice friendly place.

I have had food from the shop before normally by purchasing over the counter for over 10 years and even before that the food has been always OK. But this was the first and last time that I ordered the food from Sambal Express using the just Eat app. I ordered the food to arrive straight away around 7pm. The food did not get here until after 9pm.

Great Sri Lankan food to take away. They have two deliveries a day but best to call and pre- order to ensure you get what you want. For dining in just walk a few meters to Sambal Kitchen for some made to order food just like home cooking

Food was ice cold food was poor, not fresh and tasted horrible. The starters ordered had fungus gross would not recommend unless you would like diarrehea and food poisioning if you have any enemies or people you dislike feel free to recommend this place to them

I was expecting food will be warm enough to eat but it was refrigerating cold . We are having power cut in our area so we did not had an option to warm up the food. Waste of money

There are a lot of these takeaways catering for the Tamil diaspora. The mutton roll averaged one piece of mutton in each roll and the taste was awful. Not a proper curry mix. The same applies to the mutton roti and chicken samosa. How they got Tamil staples so badly wrong is beyond me. My advice is that they change the chefs. We will not be returning, there are far better alternatives.

Sambal should not open at 8am as there is no one to serve customers at that time - all are inside the kitchen attending to deliveries! Today 4 May 8 am there was a qeuee waiting for over 20 minutes and finally we left as we have to go to work ! Absolutely terrible customer service

I love every food they serve, but only a humble request that they do have the ingredients for their short eats, it will help people like me with intolerances and allergies( wheat, dairy, nuts, eggs, etc.)

Appam is very thick and no cook properly and no taste the same food before I buy this restaurant very nice quality why today is food not taste this is not fresh

I had a disappointing experience with this restaurant's customer service with an employee named Mr.Kumar. I placed an order for koththu and requested to pay for the gravy, but the employee refused and even after requesting to speak to a manager, I was told there was no manager available. To make matters worse, my food was thrown away and my order was not fulfilled. This level of customer service is unacceptable and I would not recommend this restaurant to others.

Chicken korma was terrible and watery. The lamb biryani did not have hardly any lamb meat in it. And the food was delivered freezing cold, probably straight from the fridge. Will not be eating from this place again

Take out only. The best Sri Lankan food outside of Sri Lanka. We visit London especially to stock up. Staff sometimes a bit surly and assume you know what all of the available items are.

Dear Sambal Express (to the owner and manager, I don't want to name and shame) I was a fan of your food, but not any more, because the taste is going down. Fish and Egg roll, Fish roll & Kata sambal are going down. 2 moths ago your Katta sambal and pol rotti was so good. I think you guys changed the chef or increased the volume of onion in it. also you guys need to watchout using the food colours. its better to keep the food as it is, no colours. Please focus on your quality, because I know what quality is!

Tasty south asian foods available. slightly expensive.

One of the best south Indian/Sri Lankan food places. Have a lot of varieties of snacks and main food. Cheap and variety of choices. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available. Looks fresh. I always see this place is crowded and busy but a lot of staff is available to serve, so the queue is moving quickly. For South Indian food it is a good choice.

Fantastic little place, a hidden gem in South Harrow. Food is always great tasting and fresh. Their vegetable rice with 3 curry’s is just superb. I also love their fresh orange juice and teas.

I have been ordering food for take-away from Sambal Express South Harrow for over five years. I have found the quality of the food to be consistently outstanding, and really appreciate the professionalism and friendliness of the staff at this branch of Sambal Express. Being Sri Lankan in origin myself, I am very grateful to be able to eat Sri Lankan food here in London that is authentic and which brings back wonderful memories of home. Very fast delivery food all good,

Unsure if this is what really is supposed to happen but all the food we ordered was freezing. We rang to ask or complain and the lady who answered said she could not understand what my partner was saying (even though he was speaking perfect english) and hung up the phone on him. When I rang back, they said that all their food is served cold. Just FYI for anybody who expects hit food.
