A beautiful walk, was worth the effort to arrive at this spectacular tea room. The hostess was so pleasant, a real happy character! There were 6 of us, who all had a selection of hot drinks , and enormous slices of delicious cake! It was almost closing time, , but we weren't made to feel rushed to finish our drinks and cake. We would certainly visit this tea room again, if we return to Saltburn. Good luck with this venture. You deserve lots of success! Highly guaranteed tea shop!

I had lusted after visiting this tea room after seeing their web site and yesterday was the opportunity to do so, whilst on a day trip to Saltburn. All I can say is I wish we hadn’t bothered. When we arrived a lady was taking in the black boards and I saw a couple go in and come straight back out. But I had checked the website and it stated it opened till 3.30pm.As it was only 2.10pm I presumed, wrongly, we would be able to get drinks, cakes and maybe a light snack. I did go in and enquired if they were serving the lady said well I am closing what do you want? So rather perplexed, the tea room did not resemble the photos on the website showing delicious cakes on cake stands. I ordered tea which came slopped in paper cups, not a china cup or saucer in sight or indeed a tea pot or milk jug. The lady continued to take table and chairs inside although other people were arriving I would suggest the website need updating as I do question the statements that “ we are a traditional Victorian tea room” “ we have a wide range of tempting home made cakes” and certainly our experience was not warm and welcoming.

Sign on the door said open, staff happy for us to buy drinks, but when my heavily pregnant friend tried to use the toilet we were told the cafe was actually closed and the toilet had been cleaned so couldn’t be used. The next closest toilet was a good 15 mins walk away (we were told to use one around the corner that had already been locked shut for some time when we’d walked past earlier). Anyone who’s been pregnant knows how horrendous this is. Really unkind and unhelpful, and frankly unfair to paying customers.

Out with the dog, keen for a cuppa, found this gem. Dogs welcome on the outdoor tables, and indeed there were six groups with pooches. A charming member of staff offered to take my order at the table and brought me a tea and a toasted tea cake for £5. Excellent. Couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. Tried to visit today after a lovely walk around Saltburn and Valley gardens for a coffee and ice cream for the children. The tea rooms close at 4pm, at 3.25pm a very rude lady shouted after my husband as he tried to take our toddler to the toilet that the toilets were now closed as she had mopped the floors and put bleach down the toilet! We explained he was only 2 but she snapped again that they were closed. The cafe was still serving drinks until I presume the closing time of 4pm...needless to say we went elsewhere!

Tha lovely tearoom owner is a super cheery and friendly lady who makes all the delicious cakes daily. Nice coffee, fancy hot chocolate and lots of ice cream also available. Sandwiches and toasted tea cakes also available. You can invest in a book, dvd or choose from a selection of vinyl to enhance your holiday break along with dog toys or doggy ice cream for your four legged friend although ours always has his own piece of cake! In its current incarnation the Tearooms is a gem. We visited most days on our recent week's stay in Saltburn having walked through the woods in the shade with the dog as it was really hot. Water bowls provided for the dog. The ladies are lovely. Highly recommended- the cakes are sumptuous!

Nestled in the heart of Saltburn's valley gardens you'll find this charming little tearoom. There's something so timeless and uniquely British about this little place. I hope it never changes as it seems to preserve some small, lovely piece of history. There is always a different selection of homemade cakes to choose from. They also serve sandwiches and drinks. Plenty of outdoor seating with a large grassy area for kids or dogs to enjoy.Staff are lovely, location is perfect and if you're lucky enough to visit on a sunny day it's completely idyllic. It's a little hidden spot away from the manic bustle of the beach and I can't recommend it enough. We've been to all of the coffee shops in Saltburn many times and this one is our favourite. We've had some gorgeous memorable summer afternoons here. It's worth being aware that they don't accept card payments, so you will need to have money with you.

Visited a few days ago with family and ordered toasted sandwiches etc. After a long wait the 'order' arrived and we quickly realised it was the wrong order, a pulled pork for a vegetarian who had ordered cheese & tomato toastie for example. Once the waitress had realised her error she quickly went to the table that the sandwiches were supposed to have gone to and told them 'we had taken their order'! The sandwiches were taken from us to the other table - complete with a bite out of my daughters which she took before realising we had the wrong order!! We had to advise the other table that there was a bite out of one sandwich and that we had opened them to see what was inside. Totally shocked by this outrageous service bordering on the comical. Never again.

I made the point of telling them that there were tables that needed clearing while they were talking but this seemed to fall on deaf ears, nobody came to wipe our table down.I chose a tuna cheese melt panini and an orange juice however were told they had no tuna and only "warm" orange juice - not very appealing at all. So again, time to chat but no time to replenish the fridge stock obviously. I ordered an alternative to which I was then told the only thing they had left for sandwiches was cheese. I settled on a cheese mayo sandwich - surprise surprise, no mayo! What happened next was appalling, the lady who seemed to be the manager there came out of the kitchen and round the front of the counter and started shouting at me "if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else"!! She was extremely rude and disrespectful, not the sort of response I would expect from someone in the hospitality trade. At this point we decided to leave, we will not be returning to be treated this way again. Fair enough we understand it was a busy sunny summer's day but this is no excuse for the manner in which we were dealt with - steer clear!!

Lovely tea room hidden in the gardens. Cakes are made on the premises and are to die for. We walked there most mornings and had beautiful bacon and sausage sandwiches. Then in the afternoon the walk back from the beach we would have a large slice of cake served with cream. Nice for dogs too. They get a couple of dog biscuits and plenty of water bowls. Does get busy but worth going

Good old fashioned service and good old fashioned courtesy. The meals are snack meals. i had a very tasty Gammon and mature cheddar melt on Wholemeal bread. This was my first visit even though I have lived in Saltburn 5years. I will return. The cakes are like mother used to bake pure and wholesome ! No mugs of tea just china cups and saucers and a teapot . I sat outside . I arrived at the Tea rooms by train from Cat Nab station to Forrest Halt and walked through the beautiful Italian Gardens to arrive at the tea rooms. Then I returned by the train to Cat Nab Station after a wonderful sufficiency of food and drink. I would recommend that you visit. Enjoy!!

Called here today very disappointed with the customer service. Waiting to be served 2 people in kitchen they could clearly see us but chose to carry on with the conversation between themselves. Finally got served when I asked for a glass of milk for my daughter was told only had long life milk not fresh milk. Purchased a bar of choc and when sat down to eat it realised that it was from a multi pack which clearly states that it was not supposed to be sold separately. Customer service definitely gone downhill since current owners took over. In future will go to one of the many other cafes in saltburn.

We called on one of the hottest days of the year and the place was full to overcrowded. As a result, the two members of staff appeared to be overwhelmed and, although they did their best and were friendly, the wait in the queue to be served was an extremely long one. It is, however, a pleasant little traditional tea room in an attractive woodland setting and, on a less busy day, would probably be fine.

What a lovely find. So welcoming even the doggie got a little treat. Amazingly they had dairy free ice cream available and alpro soya drinks so of course I had to have both as being dairy free I am often left out. Yom! I'll be back.

Fabulous setting in the gardens. The tea was lovely, served with nice cups and saucers but the cakes stole the show. Had Victoria sponge one day and went back the next to try lemon drizzle. Very generous portions served with cream. Best cake I have ever tasted! The lady running this cafe has a real talent for baking, taught by her father I believe. Will certainly visit again.

I went for a walk through Saltburn woods which I often do, and stopped of for a cup of tea. Really enjoying the tea when a group of adults with children and about four dogs came towards us from the other end. The dogs were not on a lead and this was the problem. So bad that when the adults went into tea rooms their dogs were trying to enter as well so by this time I drank the bit of tea I had and left feeling angry because they weren't intrested on who was around them eating/drinking and enjoying the surroundings. So I think the tea room staff need to look at this problem!

We visited this tea room while on half term holiday. The staff were very friendly and helpful with tips about the local area. The menu was good and the cakes were fabulous, especially the lemon drizzle. Will definitely look to visit again next year.

My partner and i came across this tea room when exploring the Saltburn Valley Gardens whilst on holiday.... and i must say, im so glad we went in. The lady who runs it was very very friendly and chatted to us about the area and how best to enjoy the walks, all of which we found very useful (though im embarrassed to say i cant remember her name) The cakes are all homemade, i had the lemon cake and can honestly say it was the best lemon cake ive ever tasted!. My partner had a scone, which he said was very nice too, as was my hot drink - a Mocha. I note that a lot of people have complained about the prices and the dogs. Well we found it very good value for money and as for the dogs - it is in the middle of park lands, so, yes you will get dogs walking past whilst you are eating, i did not find this a problem. Would definately recommend this place, dont be put off by the bad reviews, try it for yourself - especially the lemon cake!

Lovely coffee and cake served by friendly Girl, however the amount of loose dogs with owners sat outside bothering our nervous little dog spoilt it for us.

Great simple wholesome food and super cakes. Nice basic menu for having a picnic outside the valley gardens but still being inside the wood. There is a kids sandwich box with various sandwich options available . The Victoria Sponge is divine.

Came across this tea garden while walking through Valley Gardens, in a lovely location. Such a shame the prices were so high! My husband & son both had ice lolly's & myself a coffee the 3 items came to nearly £7!

This is an old established pub serving food. Busy on a Sunday and needed to book a table. Food was average, although plenty of it, although extra gravy was (I think) £1.50 for a small jug. Slightly let down by poor staff, with the exception of the lady with the plaster cast on her wrist. Generally too young and inexperienced. One didn't know the difference between a lager and an ale. And another was surly when asked why she had topped up a G & T full to the top of the glass with tonic, without first asking how much we required

We arrived today at about 1pm with our two dogs. We were greeted and pointed to the dog area. The dog friendly area is very small which wasn’t a problem as there was a table free. We were ordered at the bar and then the knocking and banging from building work started and was on and off during our time there. It would have been nice if someone had informed us that this was going on before we ordered and got settled for what was to be a leisurely lunch. The meals came after a reasonable wait, husbands steak pie huge and tasty, however I ordered the fishcake. It was on a bed of wilted rocket that was supposed to be the seasonal salad, the fishcake had all broken up it had been fried so much and the poached egg was virtually hard. I asked the waitress if that was it and she said she had checked with the chef and it was, but she didn’t want to serve it. I obviously sent it back and made a different order which was pleasant but we both ended up eating lunch at different times. No one came over to check on the second meal or to apologise. The pub was very quiet and there were numerous staff dotting about. Very poor customer service. Surely it would have been better to gain a happy customer on site rather than a poor review on Facebook. We left very disappointed. The only really exceptional thing was the dogs 4oz rump steak.

We stopped here with the dogs for lunch during a long walk. The new landlord of only a few weeks has already created a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Full marks for good value lunch (home made soup was delicious) , friendly staff and spotless “Ladies”!

I ordered a pannie and a tea. The tea came after about 5 minutes but then we we waiting a further 20 minutes for the food. I was worried as I had my car in a car park and was about to run out of time. It was clear that the staff had forgotten about the order and only started to cook when I chanced up the order. Very disappointed.
