I love this tiny place, to which I turn whenever I am in Bristol and crave an uncomplicated, tasty and traditional seafood meal in a nice environment. Good quality, fair prices, and friendly staff (and so is the owner whom we met for the first time today).

We are a couple, both over 75. We were there on a Thursday 12:30ish for lunch on a rainy, chilly day. We had a Fish soup small, a sofa, and a small cod supper (chips, peas, a decent portion of cod). The fish stew was EXCELLENT. The cod supper was quite good. Plenty of seating inside. Great service. Friendly staff. 30.58 with grat. Included. We sat at a round table with padded bench. Did not realize until later that chairs and table available in the next pod. Bench was a bit short in the seat (we are not overly large) but comfortable enough. There is a sliding door to the outside for staff to get to the next pod. Breeze come thru when opened/shut and several patrons did not bother to close the door, so I got up to shut it. Just a minor annoyance.

My son and I both had haddock and chips with a fried halloumi side. We ate in the Fish Bowl which was a bit soulless but then we were the only people in there and it was wet & miserable outside so not really anything the restaurant could do about that! Drinks were a little slow to arrive considering how quiet it was and, to be honest, they were only just cold enough. I don’t think the cans of cider had been in the fridge that long. The food was very nice….really nice piece of haddock with lovely batter. If I was being picky I could say it was a bit smaller than I expected. Chips were nice but nothing special. Deep fried halloumi side was delicious, as was the dipping sauce they came with. The two girls that served us were very polite and helpful. Overall I would happily return.

Put simply. For a takeaway it's pricey. I never mind the price as long as I enjoy it but If not, then the price matters. We only had sausage and chips. The sausage was ok but the chips looked good but were just bland. No amount of salt and vinegar made them enjoyable enough to eat much of them. Surprised really as it's quite simple...a good spud and a good oil to fry them in. You don't need to be fanny craddock to cook good chips!

We decided to treat ourselves to fish and chips at this much-vaunted restaurant. We ordered large cod and chips for £16 each. We've never seen such a small portion of fish. If what we were given was large, the small size can't be much more than a glorified fish finger! The chips were cold and tasted stale. They were presented in a metal cup, and under a few full-sized chips on the surface lurked a cupful of small, hard bits. The batter on the fish was rock hard. If you'd hit it with a hammer, it would have shattered. And the tiny amount of fish inside was dry and unpleasant. We visited early evening and had the distinct impression we were eating the tail end of what had been prepared at lunchtime. The markup on the drinks was huge. £6.50 for a 440ml can of larger. That, at least, was nice, but it was far more than we've paid for exactly the same elsewhere. A 12.5% service charge was automatically added. There was nothing wrong with the service, and we didn't dispute it, but the food as awful. We won't be back.

Disappointing. The chips seemed as if they had been reheated - hard bits and lacking in that just fried and fresh taste, The batter and the fish didn't taste particularly fresh. The best bit was the tartare sauce and the lemon slice! It's quite a price to pay for shelter from the wind and sadly a most lacklustre experience. I won't be returning.

We all had haddock and chips. It was delicious and the chips were exceptional. We didn't seem to arrange a click and collect, which would have been great, perhaps if not available, they consider it. My local chippy in wetherby does and it's really successful

Upon arrival for a takeaway we were told they were not taking orders for ten minutes due to then being very busy, which was fair enough. But one member of staff in particular was extremely rude and said you will have to wait outside, baring in mind it was raining. Her attitude towards customers was really bad. I had to walk away and leave my wife to finish the order or I would have lost my patience. Won’t go back again, shame as the food is pretty good.

Lovely friendly staff and, considering the place was full and the staff run off their feet, the service was great. Delighted to find they do delicious gluten-free battered option and good alcohol-free beer.

My partner and I arrived as they were closing the kitchen but they squeezed us in and a lovely gentleman called Jamie sat us and served us - he was extremely accommodating and kind. The food was absolutely amazing, so much more than a fish and chips shop with the perfect location right by the water. Highly recommend!

After seeing this establishment on a recent TV programme I thought I would go in and have a drink,the first member of staff didnt know it had been featured on TV !! I said I was only in for a drink as I wanted to check the place out .A 440 ml can of Bristol lager was £6-50 and when I went to pay they initially tried to charge a 12.5 % service charge I dont think it measured up to my expectation so did not feel encouraged to go again .Also there were three rather ugly recycling bins in the line of vision out the front which could could do with re-siting .There were some other customers that came in during my stay and I was not impressed by the way they were spoken to . I did not order any food

This is a great place for fish and chips. It is located near the harbour in the cargo district, close to the M museum. Food prepared quickly, and was very tasty. Large portions. Had to pay for ketchup and vinegar packets, a first for me.

Very disappointed.. drinks and service very slow, one particular staff member bordering on rude, drinks not available , food brought out without sauce and told they were making a fresh batch ( hence food would be eaten before it was ready !), not sure if they were just having a bad day??? customer service training wouldn’t go amiss!

My family had a table in the fish tank; which is a fab separate glass walled pod for dining. Service was great, fish and chips were lovely and my Dad thoroughly enjoyed 2 plates of oysters!! Everyone had an easy and enjoyable time.

We had 5 large portions of chips to Take-Away and even though they were the large, at £5.20 each it is a bit steep! Yes the chips were pretty good (that's why i gave 4*) but charging a 12.5% service charge (or any service charge) for a Take-Away is taking the... Mickey. Ok we said we weren't happy and it was removed but most people would not ask for fear of embarrassment and that I feel, is the hope of the owners. So the 4* is for the quality of the chips...but taking everything into account such as price and sneaky service charge (I can't find it anywhere on the online menu), I would not go back.

Great experience eating in the fish bowl this evening. We found the food to be delicious and potion sizes just right - batterless fish highly recommended. The service was efficient and very friendly, Liv especially was great at helping us decide on extras and portion sizes. We are locals and will definitely be retuning.
