Fantastic fish and chips, freshly cooked and friendly staff. The best I have had anywhere in the country. Will definitely go back.

This is just a very short walk outside the centre of Oswestry. The fish and chips are delicious and the staff are friendly. There’s a spacious area for eating in.

Usually love the fish and chips. The last time we were there I was so disappointed. When my plate arrived the fish was swimming in oil. Should have been left to drain for a short while. Had to use some serviettes to mop up the plate and the fish.

Great value same price to eat in as a take away. Service was quick. Very basic setting, but ideal as just wanted quick food after shopping.

Grim chips! Looked and tasted gross! Pic on photos section. Took them back gave me some more. No extra for inconvenience of bringing them back and my nuggets were also going cold in the meantime. Also had soggy fishcake and a horrible re heated sausage from there. Not using again. Gross food 🤢🤢

We were a party of 6 adults who decided to make this fish and chip shop our meeting point for some lunch. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted and instructed on where to order as we wanted to dine in. Having placed our order which was done with ease and we were told to be seated and the food was freshly prepared and delivered to our table. We had one issue and the staff were very apologetic and went out their way to put things right and make things right. As I always say sometimes things do go to plan but it’s how people react thereafter that matters. I can clearly say these guys know about customer service and keeping people happy. We all walked away with our belly’s full and the chips were Devine. We thought we would sample the cod roe cake which we all enjoyed also. Keep up the great work!

Excellent service, great food, got fish chips and curry for £4.95 eat in with table service, can't beat that!

Best fish and chips in Oswestry

Visiting from Kent and staying with family, looked online for a good fish and chip place, found the staff very friendly and helpful. Fish and chips very nice, chips hot crispy outside and soft inside. Batter on fish very crispy and not too fatty. Would recommend .

I had haddock and chips dined in freshly cooked pipping hot and very tasty ive been quite couple of times and always fresh and pleasant to eat there

Fantastic fish and chip shop in Oswestry. Would definitely make it my local if I lived there. You can sit in too, no charge. Near the main car park by marks and Spencer. Easy walk. Friendly staff. Perfect fish and chips . Reasonably priced. There is a loo there too.

We were parked on central car park and we felt like fish and chips, while visiting Oswestry,Wednesday market. The salop fish bar is literally a couple of minutes walk from the car park. It does have a seating area. You can sit in at no extra charge. The staff were one lady and one chap, they were very friendly. We ordered, then went to sit down. The meal arrived, the batter was very crispy and fish as white as white, chips were piping hot and they were delicious too. They also had salt with chilli which I tried. The lady very kindly bought it in a plastic shot glass for me to try with the meal. It was tasty. Mushy peas and curry sauce was good too. They also have a toilet. If I lived in Oswestry I would definitely use this chippy. Thank you for a perfect lunch.

Worth the trip from four crosses this evening. Had fish chips peas. Hubby had Chicken chips gravy absolutely delicious.

The chips were absolutely amazing very hot freshly cooked and the curry sauce was amazing aswell. The prices are really good they are not too expensive. Thank you so much

Under cooked chips and overcooked fish really disappointing

Salop Fish Bar in our opinion is the best chippy in town ie Oswestry. Harri and all the staff are so friendly and obliging - nothing is too much trouble for them. As for the food it is absolutely wonderful, perfectly cooked and really tasty. We would recommend the jumbo sausage and chips or chicken curry and chips. It will be a meal to remember for all the right reasons.

Cheese burgers are lovely,with a cup of proper tea .

i ordered cod and chips,it arrived lukewarm,was very very oily,as though the oil it had been cooked in was not hot enough,the cod was wafer this and not worth the £9.65 they charged,delivery driver turned up with food not in an insulted bag at my door,i doubt whether he even used one,i did ring up and complained and felt as though i was given the brush off,i for one will never use them again,disgusting food ! next time i wang good fish and chips i will go to oh my cod ! at least i know i can get home with hot food !

A little hidden gem just a 5 minute walk from the main part of town. We come here every time we visit Oswestry; greeted by friendly staff and always clean. The food is beautiful and always served piping hot, the fish is always cooked to perfection and the prices are very modest despite how lovely the food is. 5 stars!

Fish was cooked fresh to order but the chips were brown and greasy. I know prices are going up but for £8.40 I still expect a standard.

Fish and chips were great. Order fulfilled on time. Only issue was the guy throwing phones at young women nearby.

Called in whilst in Oswestry for take away fish and chips. They were delicious. the chips were cooked to perfection well done but not hard. the fish was crispy and very tasty. The sign to order your fish should be in larger print to be more noticeable particularly for us older people. Will definitely call again.

Excellent staff and food, always have a chat and a laugh with the staff. I know they are sometimes busy but still don’t have to wait long for service or food.

I understand businesses have been affected by covid and restrictions, but surely good manners and customer service should come naturally. I Stood at the front of a que for at least 15-20 minutes feeling very awkward. Even with me smiling and saying hello I wasn’t responded too. I would’ve left and gone somewhere else but thought surely someone will acknowledge me soon. I looked at the que behind me and even they eye rolled at me thinking what’s going on and they said haven’t you been served yet ? Don’t get me wrong they were packing customers orders in front of me who were waiting outside but there was three people behind the counter one who was just stood doing nothing. Ok if they were rushed off their feet but even then it would take 2 seconds to smile at the customers waiting or to say “ hello sorry we won’t be a minute” I then waited a further 10 minutes outside for my order to be done which was fine as I did order a fish. Overall Food was ok, but for the sake of the bad customer service and waiting time I won’t be returning.

We all really enjoyed the fish, chips and all the variations of food that we had from the Salop Fish Bar for our large group. Their food, friendly service and good prices made our simple Christmas lunch a good one. The service they provided us with being able to order for a large group in advance and pick up at a certain time made it a pleasure to order from them .

Went for fish and chips and fishcake and chips. They had just opened for the early evening shift. Our chips were horrible and had obviously been re-heated. My fishcake was wafer thin and hard. Must have been there for a while. Wouldn't go there again.

We enjoyed an excellent value mini fish and chips which was well cooked and very good, with a choice of mushy peas, beans, curry or gravy and a drink. A little walk out of the town centre but great, will be going back next time we fancy fish and chips!

I was in the area again, the last time many months ago. I decided to visit Salop Fish Bar to have a fish and chip supper. Nothing has really changed over the many months ago that I visited. My food was freshly cooked and delivered to me at my table by a man who I took to be the owner or manager. He placed my meal in front of me with a welcoming smile. The food was very hot and so obviously freshly cooked. When I had finished all of my meal the same man gave me another big smile and thanked me for using that chippy. He also hoped that I had enjoyed my meal.I will have no hesitation in going to the Salop Fish Bar again when I am in the Oswestry area

Always good and friendly service- our fish and chips of choice in Oswestry. It's a bit of a pain that they don't take a card payment, but that's a minor thing really. The point is that the chips are yummy!

Arrived 20 mins before lunch time closing. Food came quick, good size portions and very tasty. They didnt rush to get out even though they were closing.

Great chippy, loads of other typical fast foods, burgers, kebabs, wraps, pies etc. We always go there.

In my opinion salop is the best chippy in Oswestry, delicious food, friendly staff and reasonable prices. My go to for a chippy tea, best chips in town by a mile.

Went for our usual visit and as always the fish and chips were delicious. Cooked to order everytime and you always get a decent sized portion. We always sit in and the staff are always on hand if needed and nothing is a problem for them. They always greet you on arrival and make a point of saying goodbye when you leave.

Phoned an order and had it served there and then..fish was really fresh and chips were lovely and crispy...

If there was a minus I would put it .. was horrid . Fish soggy chips re fried /warmed and the sausage grey a spell in a&e on the way as am throwing up ... not a good review. Staff seemed to put it bluntly not to be bothered to serve and that's a Monday tea time. Have never written a food review before but this was so bad had to warn others . AVOID

One word horrid ...... called passing through oswestry never again .... my husband had fish - ok but very soggy batter. I had sausage - very grey now 24 hrs later had bad guts and off to a &e as throwing up. !! Should have known better. Obviously not impressed....

Chips swimming in grease no haddock only cod which was ok but mushy peas watery. Restraunt area grubby . Wasn't impressed with the waitress spraying cheap smelling cleaning fluid on nearby tables whilst eating our food , very off putting toilets filthy and stank of smoke, some sort of make shift handle on loo . Staff pleasant though . 5 out of 10 . Would not recomend.. !

Excellent fish, chips and mushy peas. Small tea pot led to stewed tea. Good service. Preferred stop when travelling to or from North Wales as it is conveniently close to the A5 and cheaper than the A5 service stations for food.

Refried chips which are ok if piping got but these not. Likewise I appreciate that you don't always get fresh kebab meat but if it out of a pot it should be warm and not rubbery. If I'm asked 3 separate times if I want salt & vinegar on my chips then I should get it but alas not. Disappointing.

The best chips and fish , and any thing else you should require in Oswestry. The owner and his staff are all very polite and helpful.
