Always enjoy coming here. The team are brilliant, always good to talk to. Food is good, the stuffed Paratha is very good.

Fantastic takeaway, standard of food and service consistent for 30 years +. Haven't been as frequently due to personal circumstances, however the manager greeted and remembered our family which was lovely. Will be back very soon 👍

You can safely ignore the hysterical 1 star reviews. I have been coming to Saleem Bagh for over 20 years and a recent visit, my first since the pandemic, confirmed that the restaurant remains what it always has been - a traditional, reliable, local Indian restaurant, in pleasant surroundings with good food at reasonable prices. Service was polite and efficient. After a mediocre recent experience at a nearby “modern” Indian restaurant, the Saleem Bagh did not disappoint.

As the waiter gave us our menus he asked us to leave a review, so here it is... This is, without exception, THE WORST INDIAN FOOD I HAVE EVER TASTED, and potentially the worst food I've ever eaten at a restaurant. Unfortunately we had arrived in Dorridge to find the well-reviewed Chinese restaurant we had intended going to was closed. As options were limited and it was getting late we decided to take a chance on Saleem Bagh, which at the time was virtually empty save for a table for 2 eating in the window. Admittedly several more tables came in after us and we got the impression some were regulars, quite why anyone would patronise here regularly is beyond me! All of the the food was painfully bland and surprisingly devoid of virtually any seasoning, the quality was poor and the curries looked and tasted like they had used tinned soup as a base, adding minimal herbs & spices in a very poor attempt to add flavour. We also got the impression some of it was pre-prepared well in advance and cooked from frozen. £4 for a pint that wasn't actually a pint of lukewarm flat budget brand cola. Frankly, you could cook better Indian food than this at home, a ready meal from Sainsbury's opposite would've been a better option - wild horses would not drag us back!

The food was nice but was brought out separately as we had a big group. The staff wasn’t very friendly and was quite rude, leaning over to grab plates waiting for us to put the food on our plate so they can take the dishes. The first thing that is most important is a friendly atmosphere and I didn’t get that here.

The Saleem is our favourite for a curry! We would dine in before lockdown and have had almost a weekly takeaway since and the quality is amazing. Ali and his team are always so friendly and welcoming, they can’t do enough for you :)

Been here many, many times and it is still the best Indian restaurant in B93. The staff have always been hospitable and most welcoming. They make dishes how we want them, nothing too oily... Food has always been excellent! Support local businesses and visit this place!!!

Upon arrival there was no sign of any hand sanitiser, when we got our table we were offered no drinks, no popadoms nothing.(I would understand if they were busy but there was only two tables occupied including us!) When we finally got served by a waiter he was extremely rude. Rushed our starters didn’t even get asked if we were finished he just taken our plates away while we still had food on our table. Food was very average could have made a better curry at home in all honesty would never return or recommend!!

Food was okay if it wasn’t the 50% off I would of thought was very expensive for very rude staff I asked for the bill and the guy just walked off wasn’t chatty or welcoming.... I wished to pay by card and the guy was like NO .... practically shouted... with Covid I was a bit shocked by this.... lucky enough I had it in cash but seems super odd to not accept card with what’s going on within the world.... the younger staff seem nicer but the older staff very cold and it’s put me off going back to be honest which is a shame as I had gone before and it was fine but I won’t be going back within a hurry after tonight.

Went to the local Bangladeshi takeaway for the first time since moving to the area. The food was very nice! Had so much flavour and the staff were lovely. Look forward to dine in next time.

Ordered a takeaway for myself, it's hard to find a place that provides an excellent service and very delicious food. Food come fresh and full with flavour, had to get a takeout as I couldn't dine in, but it was still very tasty.Service is great too, hopefully I can come with my family and dine it. Well priced. Very welcoming and was able to fit us in even with no booking. Great customer service with a massive warm welcome. The food was delicious 😋 and we recommend the vegetable kurma with onion naan.

Very quiet midweek night. Nice smallish restaurant and a good menu choice. Enjoyed a chicken tikka, potato and onion starter and chicken tikka minty with garlic naan and veg pilau. All tasty and good functional service.

We have been to very many restaurants and I have been here quite a few times now I’m now quite a regular and every time it’s been an amazing meal!!!! Also an amazing atmosphere , Very accommodating plus every member of staff are extremely polite and helpful.I would recommend Saleem Bagh to anyone.Thank you as always.

Having enjoyed two meals previously we decided to book for a celebration meal. There were 14 of us and the meals were all served together. Every meal was hot, tasty and delicious. Staff were attentive but not overpowering. Very enjoyable evening.

Sorry but NASTY people need to know that when we walked in on the staff cutting his nails by the bar and its flying everywhere in the Bombay mix bowl which I eat the last time I come but never again. We where the only table of four waiting for our food and the very same senior waiter was picking his nose again by the bar while another waiter was a taking our drinks order and when I saw this DISCUSTIN human being used his hand for the ice to serve my coke I just couldn't do it no more and left with my family feeling disgusted and SICK. Never again this just put me off eating out. God knows what they be up to when they got no customers in the restaurant although its always empty wonder why

The food has is fine, but the attitude of the staff is horrendous. They definitely favour the regulars and are far less interested in providing a basic level of customer service to new faces.Tutted at when not ordering starters. Tutted at for wanting 1 and not 2 poppadums per person. General disinterest in staff (food dumped on the table, no apology or even acknowledgement for forgotten dishes).5minutes into service, noticed a naan bread missing that I had ordered. Informed them as to ensure it wouldn't show on the bill , only to have 2-3 waiters walk back and forth, checking the table. I couldn't believe what was happening until one waiter came back to not so tactfully count the number of small plates on our table before saying "there's your naan". The half eaten plain naan was not my naan, and that was the end of the investigation into the missing naan.PS. If you order a bottle of water for the table it will be tap (we had still water in a sparkling bottle), and you will be charged for it. - totally illegal.The bill will be written in such illegible writing that you'll end up paying whatever price they can come up with. The staff won't help you with this, either.

Basic ambience but the food is very good here and would recommend it- I have taken friends and family here several times and they all have enjoyed the food - not greasy at all, varied and tasty. And portions are the right amount .

The quality of the food is perfectly OK and on a level with many good curry houses, but the restaurant has been decorated in a rather dull way and doesn't feel all that comfortable. I can't say anything really negative, but aside from the food itself the place feels a bit average.

Had a lovely meal on a Saturday, our favourite curry restaurant in Knowle and Dorridge. Very busy but quick service, recommended. Excellent takeaway too! Ash was great serving too.

We ate here on Christmas Eve. We were not made to feel at all welcome. Despite asking several times for the heating to be turned on - it wasn't. The restaurant was freezing cold and we had to eat our meal in our coats. The food was very average. We used the toilets before we left the restaurant and there was no hot or cold running water at the sinks in the toilets??

We have just dine a Groupon here and the restaurant was virtually empty, never a good sign but hey! Sunday night so one never knows and First time here. Have to say that the popadoms were excellent with really nice condiments, we actually thought "Wow" if the main meal is of a similar quality then it looks like we have found a real Gem of a restaurant "bring it on". The starter soon arrived and and we were soon tucking in, mine was a mixed starter and was nothing special, quite bland in fact, my wife looked at me and said that her Shami kebab starter was over salty by some way, I tasted it and had to agree. Anyway, not to be put off we were looking forward to our main course with also arrive soon after the starter. I ordered a Lamb and Spinach Balti and never actually asked for Mild Medium or Hot as they are normally served Mild, this means that there will be some heat to it but you can still taste the flavours of the meat and spices (not a Vindaloo) Well I have to say it was awful! One of the worst I have ever had in my life, everybody's palate is different but we went there for a curry and it was like a Lamb Stew with no flavour and certainly no chilli whatsoever. I left most of it although the Lamb tender and no sign of Fat, it really could have been so much better! My wife also left most of her Tandoori Chicken Balti, again, no flavour and far too many tomatoes. Will we go back there. Not on your life, never.

I bought a groupon at the beginning of December, tried to book a table, they said you can’t book at Christmas? I tried to book tonight and they said I can’t book on a Friday even though Friday and Saturday are included. They were really rude to me and hung up twice.

Food is generally good, but we waited so long for our main course to be served, we'd gone past hunger. We were a large group, but had made the booking several weeks before the event, so it's not as if they were unprepared. We go every year. 3 of our tables received their main courses, but we were still waiting until almost 2 hours after we first arrived. Other people who had arrived over an hour after we did received their starters before we had our mains. Far too long to wait. the rest of our group had long finished & we were still waiting. Magically, the food appeared soon after we complained.

Service was fast but the staff were disinterested. Starter seemed to have the same sauce as the main but was described differently. We had been there with similar experiences in the past but hoped it had improved. I am afraid it hadn't Wouldn't go again.

Travelling back from Gatwick to Manchester , motorway was usual madness and as we had been travelling 12 hours decided stop gap was needed, what an amazing find, never had popadums n all the dips so good, normally fighting for the onions but they were huge tubs, had king prawn goa n chicken with mustard seeds , wow , great choices, staff so friendly n chatty , great price too , if ever passing again we will call again for sure

We visited this restaurant with a groupon voucher. Despite being local I had not realised this was an indian restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised with the standard of the food and drink. The staff are friendly and very welcoming without being intrusive. We will definitely go back.

This restaurant has a warm ambience with friendly, attentive staff. The menu is excellent with Indian and a few English dishes on offer. This was our first visit with a Groupon voucher which was very good but their prices are good value and they have tempting offers on Monday and Tuesday evenings. We enjoyed their popadoms and chicken baltis with delicious naan bread. Plenty of parking nearby in the shopping square next door. They appear to have a regular clientele and with quite a few Indian restaurants in nearby Knowle, we found this to be amongst the best we've dined in.

We had a terrific meal here on a Monday night, which as you can imagine was quiet with only 3 or 4 active tables. Portions were a little smaller than what I'm used to but the food was really good and the service excellent without breaking the bank. Good selection on the wine list to.

Went to Saleems in early December for a family meal using the groupon voucher. Excellent value for money with no restriction placed on the menu because of the voucher. Food was brought out as requested and they held the mains until we were ready. I had the pepper keema starter which i thoroughly recommend. Rest of starters and mains were lovely and nicely spiced. The restaurant is well furnished and has a good atmosphere and the staff were courteous and attentive.

We have been going to this restaurant for many years and it always makes us happy eaters. The staff are great, food excellent and 4 nights a week they have special offers which makes a very good priced meal. Well worth a try if you are in the area.

Been here a couple of times over the years and have not been impressed. Food was bland take away quality food. Service average (they seemed to pay a lot of attention to the regulars) and is poor value for money. Plenty of better 'Indian' Restaurants a few minutes away in Knowle.

The last time we visited this restaurant was circa 2007, since then we use Café Saffron in Knowle and Aromas in Bentley Heath. Our night here at the Saleem Bagh was just ok, my Chicken Tikka Madras Balti was ok my partners Chicken Tikka Sagwalla was apparently better, my biggest gripe is that the senior (elderly) waiter is not overly friendly or pleasant! We will carry on visiting Aromas and maybe return here in another 10 years or so!?!?

Not just another a typical Indian restaurant, they really do know their stuff here, dine in or take out, it is just amazing. The service is beyond comment and the food will not fail to satisfy either.

Mi marido y yo nos alojamos en Dorridge por una noche para asistir a una fiesta al día siguiente. Fuimos a cenar a este restaurante en un capricho y nos sorprendió gratamente. Es mucho más que un lugar popular para llevar, es un restaurante en su propio derecho. Había un ambiente animado, muchas mesas ocupadas (mostrando su popularidad) y la comida era muy buena. Lo único negativo es que es bastante ruidoso porque es una zona pequeña y la acústica no son grandes. También el pan nan no era bastante, ya que se deshacen en la boca como la que he tenido en otros restaurantes. Pero realmente, para una cena agradable con sin ninguna molestia o preocuparse, este lugar era estupendo. Buena relación calidad-precio.

Situated in the heart of Dorridge. This is a little gem. Well appointed clean and stylish the restauramt is very comfortable.Sunday night offer £10.95 any starter, and main and rice/nan is a bargain.The service was friendly and attentive.Food was very good. The menu has all the favourites plus some house specials and of courae the balti.The prawn puree starter was as good as any i've tasted. And the main chicken Jaflong was something i'd not come across before. Both were delicious and portions were hearty.Would recommend.

Went for the first time after walking past many times wondering what its like. Not a warm welcome, waiters solemn, no enthusiasm. Seems regulars get a better reception though - they need to remember that they need to treat newcomers better for them to become regulars...Food was tasty and generous in portion sizes. Overpriced in general for the overall experience. Much, much better options up the road in Knowle. Doubt I will return. Disappointing.

This is my family's go to Indian restaurant/take-away . We have food from here or eat in here at least once a week - dependent on my level of incompetence in the kitchen..... I think, to a large extent, we take the Saleem Bagh for granted so, after having had a wonderful meal on Saturday, I decided to put matters right and finally write a review.The welcome was, as ever, gracious and generous. We were seated promptly, with the drinks order taken quickly and served in moments (to anyone reading this who knows me absolutely essential. )As an aside, anyone collecting a take-away is seated in the bar area and offered a free drink.There were five of us eating, with a potential sixth playing cricket. There was no problem in odering later for him.Various starters were ordered, including Tandoori mixed grill, prawn bhuna on puree, sheesh kebab and king prawn achanak. All were brilliant . For me, I had the acahanak. It was the tastiest I have eaten and the portions were generous.Mains. Chicken methi, Chicken balti, king prawn jalfrezi and Shatkora chicken to gether with various rices and absolutely beautiful garlic and coriander nan breads. (The mathematically inclined amongst you will notice I have listed only four starters and mains. This is because I have forgotten what else was ordered.... duh..... I do remember though, all of us rhapsodising about the food).I think this is one of the best Indian meals we have had and it was great value for money too. It goes with saying that the service was, as always, exemplary. The staff at the Saleem Bagh are friends and treat diners accordingly.Thank you.

Came for my son's birthday (his choice at 6yrs old) to see Aladdin and have our regular first choice for eating out! Consistently fantastic food...Have tried others in the area but they don't compare! We'll definitely be back!

My husband visited tonight 29/01 to order a take away, only to be told that the offer on their own take away leaflet would not be honoured & my husband was then sneered at when he queried this. So I can not comment on food, however poor customer service, very unwelcoming and staff that seemed totally disinterested gets this restaurant only a one star. As you can see from lots of other reviews, this is the lowest rating I have ever left. We will not return.

Our foursome turned up on spec at 7pm on Saturday night - there were only 2 other tables taken although the place did fill up by the time we left about 8.30pmFood was fresh and tasty, service friendly. This is a solid enough Indian - there are loads round here so the times we do go out for a curry there is lots of choice and we don't tend to frequent the same restaurant time and again. They do serve alcohol here - not all Indians seem to do that nowadays

We ordered take-away for New Years Eve.Mine was watery and without taste. My partner's was dry and again without taste.Will definitely not be returning.

We have lived locally for 25 years and have regularly used this restaurant.While the quality of the food has varied we have used the restaurant and takeaway service regularly.We called in on a Tuesday night before Christmas at 9.30pm for a quick meal after working late.However when the bill arrived we were told that the 2 for 1 main course had been withdrawn.We pointed out that there was a large sign outside the restaurant promoting this deal and that when our order was taken the waiter did not tell us the offer had been withdrawn.The staff refused to consider our complaint and indeed would not let us leave without paying the full bill. I think this is nothing more than theft and we will not frequent frequent the restaurant again. I will olso report the matter to local trading standards.

I have been going to this wonderful Restaurant for nearly 30 years! And have always had excellent service and amazing food. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and go over and beyond to accommodate us - especially when we are trying to be good weight wise - they are always happy to provide healthy options. We cannot recommend this Restaurant enough.

Had a takeaway from here. Dishes had nice content and tasted great. Slightly slow given order was telephoned in hence 4 stars, food was great though.

Called on a Wednesday for an early meal and offer on for buy one main and get one free which was good, had starters which were well presented and tasty followed by 2 mains with rice and naan. All good although our mains looked very similar although should, do have been different. Would go back as nice food for a good price

Our only local sit down curry house in Dorridge. We visit here perhaps once every couple of months or so as it means we can have a drink and walk home. This was a mid-week visit and took advantage of the 'buy one get one free' offer on main courses. It's good honest Indian fare and I'd say consistent in the food you get. It's alright and we've had some nice to middling food here. We're also familiar with the staff and get a handshake when we turn up but there is one staff member who perhaps could do with listening a bit more intently as he can go completely to pot, particularly on a busy night. It's quite funny really. If you come here, you know who I mean!Not bad but Knowle has better Indian restaurants.

This is an Indian restaurant that looks after it's customers very well. The food is very good, the staff are welcoming & if you have been there a few times they remember your name. This just sums up their service. The food is so full of flavour and the portions are generous. No complaints what so ever with this restaurant.

One of my favourite restaurants around my village is the Saleem Bagh. We have been going there for 30 years and always receive a warm welcome from the Proprietor - it is to my shame I have never learned his name although Aladin is his right hand man.The problem with ''going for an Indian '' is that there are others that do the same, namely drunken young men after a football match!This was the first time we had experienced this poor behaviour at our chosen venue but that did not make it acceptable. What was acceptable was the way the 3 Blues or Villa supporters were dealt with.The lads were not violent or abusive but loud, loutish, and generally annoying. This only became apparent 5 minutes after they sat down but within 10 minutes of that, before their poppadoms arrived, the Proprietor and his sidekick Aladin, had created a rapport with the miscreants, and with good humour they were moved to the far and of the restaurant. I think they then became quieter without an audience.The whole thing could have been poorly handled and our evening totally ruined. Instead, the lads were handled well, firmly but fairly, and everyone had a nice evening.Oh, by the way. Everyone in my party enjoyed the food and the ambiance was generally laid back - apart from....

I have persevered with this place a few times as it is walking distance for us, but I refuse to go here again. The food is ok but there is one person who lets the place down, this is the older gentleman that meets & greets, he is arrogant, misogynistic and clearly does not have any manners. When I went to pay for the takeaway, he showed me the bill without saying a word, I handed my card with a "thank you", he took it, again without saying a word then and when the transaction completed, he just handed the card, this is not customer service. All that is required is common courtesy.

What can i say i love this food. Will keep going back time and again. Clean. Great service. Large Car Park very Near.Tables are not too close together so you can talk without sharing your conversation with your neighbor.Worth a visit.

This was a decent curry but nothing particularly memorable. Especially when you consider there are a couple of exceptional curry houses 2 miles away in Knowle. The food was pleasant and the service was good.

Visited mid evening on a Saturday night with my family. My first visit to this restaurant although it has been open for a long time. All the food was lovely and served quickly and the staff were nice. I have a madras Balti which was excellent , my partner had a king prawn mild dish which she enjoyed vert much and my son had Chicken Tikka Massala which didn't last long ! Proseco was only £14 a bottle so we had two !!! Highly recommended

Friendly and attentive staff and good food. Eat there often fri/sat evenings and my only suggestion is to dim the lights a bit more, and put tea lights on the tables - just make it a bit more atmospheric and cozy please

Been here twice in two months, both times on a Sunday, both times choosing from the special offer menu. It's much smaller compared to the ordinary menu, as you would expect but still manages a reasonable selection.At the time of writing the price is £8.95 (Sunday), £9.95 (Mon & Tues) for a starter and a main with accompaniment and coffee to finish. The dishes were all good but I thought the pilau rice and the naan bread were excellent.I found the drinks a little on the expensive side, pity it’s not a BYOB establishment.The place is nice enough – clean, and the service is good.

Went on a dinner with the family and experienced a fantastic night with great front of house staff who were very friendly and attentive! And to top it off the food was second to none. Will surely visit again!

We have now been going to Salem Bagh for several years and can say we have never had a bad meal. We always receive a warm welcome. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, and is modern and bright with a good choice of menu. There is a weekday three course special menu alongside the normal menu which is very good value. The third course being a naan. It would be difficult to recommend anything special as it is all so good. The service is excellent and whilst we are eating notice what a big take away trade they do. The only slight drawback is the parking but there are several nearby roads and Dorridge square close by.

Saleem Bagh never seems to be that busy which is something I cannot understand as you would struggle to find a better curry in the area. We have been quite a few times either to eat in or take away. The service is always very good and the chicken Jalfrong is definitely worth a try. Keep up the good work.

Another lovely evening dining in at Saleem Bagh, great food and outstanding value for money. The few negative reviews posted about this restaurant are highly questionable when you look more closely at the profile of those posting them and I'd imagine they have an agenda of their own. I've been bringing family and friends here for over 15 years and will keep returning. Check out the new 'low fat' menu items which shows a bit if forward thinking as well.

Always rated the Saleem Bagh, Nau-Ratan Bhuna is one of their specials and is fantastic, lamb, chicken and king prawns. Need to ask for it slightly hot as the food can be on the mild side- always great favours though. Peshwari naan lovely, as are most of the side dishes: just avoid the sag paneer. Always brilliant service.

I called in on my own at the end of a long and tedious motorway drive. I chose from the table d'hote menu. This gave me a starter, a main course with rice and a coffee. I added a couple of poppadoms with sauces and a pint of Cobra, and the bill came to a very reasonable £14.95. The food was lovely, there was plenty of it and the service was efficient and friendly. Much to be recommended.

We ordered a Take Away from Saleem Bagh this weekend for the first time. We have a number of Indian restaurants equidistance from ourselves, but had never tried this one.The food did take a while to come, but we accept we were walk-in's as well as it being peak time on a Saturday evening. The staff were very friendly. We ordered Chicken Pakora, which was very greasy, but nice flavour and a good portion size.For our main dishes we had a Chicken Korma and Chicken Pathia with boiled rice and Peshwari Naan. Unfortunately, the rice was rather dry, the Korma flavourless with a dry Peshwari Naan to match.Overall, the food was just okay, but in our opinion better curry can be found within a 10 minute journey from this restaurant. I visited Salem bagh on New Years eve with my family and friends. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with rice,chips and naan bread. The food was satisfactory and the portions were tiny!!! The price was alright but I would not recommend it. After we had our drinks the waiter spilt some of the left over lemonade onto the table and just put a napkin over it like it was nothing! It took ages for the meal to arrive (40minutes I would say or maybe longer). If you do not like compacted spaces do not visit as it was stuffy and compact. I couldn't move my chair back and felt uncomfortable. If you are looking for a nice night out I would recommend cafe saffron in knowle (10 minutes away). It has great deals on a Monday and a Sunday for £10-you get a starter,main,side and drink of your choice !!! The service is excellent.

Good value, excellent food, friendly staff and good attentive and friendly service. What else could one ever want?! Good atmosphere as well as usually busy. We were so impressed the other night we have booked for Christmas Day which is incredible value!

Had a really good meal here on the set menu. Starter, main and a side for 9.95. The food was good, the service was good and all in all the best value for money that I've had in the Solihull area.

We go out for curries as a group now and again, and this time we went to Saleem Bagh in Dorridge. The food and service was excellent. We had a large table (for 12) in the centre of the restaurant and had a great time. Food choice and quality is excellent, and draught Cobra is a great accompaniament. I have also eaten their in smaller family groups and have always had a great exprience. If the number of take away customers is anything to go by, it must be good. If you're not sure which dish to go for the waiters will always help with suggestions, and they can modify the dish to your tastes. If it's a more intimate dinner you want, ask for a table near the front window area. Only views of the new Sainsbury's I'm afraid, but very cosy nonetheless. £9.95 deals to be had on Sundays and Mondays.
