Sake No Hana in City of London, Westminster

Amazing food as always. Service was great but feels like could be made better with attentiveness and better order taking process. Love the terrace and the setting on a sunny day, can’t wait for it to open indoor.

Booked an inside table, after months of eating outdoors we were looking forward to it, arrived and the staff had moved all seating to outdoors. We were very cold the whole time which affected the experience. The food was ok but overpriced we felt, and a £100 deposit was taken the day prior to us arriving which I wasn’t informed about, asked for a refund to then eventually split the bill. Disappointing!

Amazing service and friendly staff who go above and beyond. Food is excellent and the sushi to die for but it’s definitely on the pricey side!

So - I don't think anyone can deny that the food here is brilliant. Everything including the cocktails were amazing! However, it is the experience that I had an issue with. The waiter rushed us through our meal - We were in and out in 55 minutes or so. And it wasn't like they were super busy. When you eat an expensive meal like this, you would want to enjoy it, but the waiter was at our table every two minutes to ask if we'd finished the dish or not. I was very intrusive. If there is a time limit on how long you have the table, I would rather them tell us when we enter the restaurant than force us out.

We went for a dinner to the terrace.The terrace has not any decoration and too much comento.I would definitely prefer inside.We were told that they had aircon issues.Anyway.Apart from that fantastic dinner

They could’ve done so much better with the service. Discrimination at its finest? Especially with how much i paid. There are so many other restaurants that does better service and much cheaper than theirs.

We love this restaurant and have been many times. The food is always incredible and the staff have been super friendly and helpful. If you like sushi, then Sake No Hana is a fabulous choice. We'll be back soon, no doubt

Very exciting to be back eating in Sake no Hana for Friday lunch after lockdown. Still amazing, fresh food. The black cod and wagyu bentos we went for were out of this world. The sushi excellent as you would expect and also creative - soft shell crab with mango - don’t mind if so do. Service was smooth and staff friendly. One small thing irked me which is asking if you want water and tea at the beginning. If I’d twigged quicker I was going to be charged £10 I would have likely ordered a different drink. I assumed they were as in Japan, free. My bad I suppose. Not bad enough to detract from an amazing meal.

Lovely as always. Looking forward to when all menu back to normal.

Food was ok not worth the price at all , I’ve been charge for £150 for 3 people in advance , they told me I will get refund in 3-4 days , what a joke ...

Excellent service. There was no point during our visit where our glasses were empty or didn't feel attended to. Food was amazing and service friendly and excellent.

As always, the food and service was exceptional. It is a pricey experience though, but well worth it.

Everything was great, until we asked for a gluten free option on dessert and then the waitress had a tantrum. Most of the food was really good even if it was overpriced. The prawn nigiri tasted like off fish which was a shame as it looked beautiful. All in all, Sake no Hana is more about location, venue and big price tags and less about good food, good service and authenticity. I would go again but it should be half the price.

Enjoyed very much being back and eating delicious food. I will definitely be going back again.

The location, service and ambience was good. The food was ok for the price, the menu is very limited and for the money you are much better off going to Roka/Zuma.

We were there on the final day of outside-only dining before rules were relaxed on 17 May. The staff could not have made the experience better. The food (including the miso black cod), as always at Sake No Hana, was excellent and the sake was perfect both in taste and the way it was presented

The Terrance wasn’t the best for atmosphere. I was shoulder to shoulder with someone. The food compared to other places wasn’t all that for the price.

The tables were outside and in cold. The food is overpriced for its value. They made mistakes in the order and in the bill. I've eaten better sushi elsewhere. Do not recommend the place.

Still too cold for outdoor dining they have blankets but no heaters. As for service they are great. Food is not the best lacks taste but everyone has their preference.

The restaurant is not equipped for outdoor seating. Freezing cold with no heaters, rain which came through the umbrellas soaking us - especially due to table placement. Extremely wobbly tables and after asking for it to be fixed we got told it would have to be done after the food, so eating was not a pleasant experience. Asked for the bill and it took 15 minutes as the paper was being changed. Heard the table complaining next to us the whole time about how two glasses of wine took over 45 minutes to arrive with only 4 tables occupied in the whole restaurant. General unpleasant demeanour from some of the staff. Outstanding food but unfortunately the experience was disappointing, especially considering this was booked for a special occasion. Will not be returning.

Some staff members were rude and we felt rushed the whole time. I’m sure the experience inside is better but it was not what you’d expect from a restaurant like that

I was high quality food with good service as usual. The warm Sake we ordered was not as great as we'd wanted but I would still recommend it on an overall experience.

The location is fantastic both inside and outside, nevertheless I would recommend staying inside. The food is surely the best Asian one you can find in London. Even if the price is high it is completely justified by the very high quality.

outside in a sterile environment with nothing to break the wind. plastic bowls for soup getting blown over and glasses smashing as they were so light. no outdoor heaters and covers that rattle around and feel like they will fall over. for the premium price paid the outdoor experience is terrible.

Sent our order to another table, sat in the cold for up to 2 hours. They offered us 2 deserts as an apology. Decent given I come to this restaurant a lot.

Having dined at Hakkasan in Mayfair before, I was hesitant about dining at Sake no Hana. I needn't have been - the service was excellent, polite and very attentive, and the food delicious.

Staffs are not trained well. Too casual manors for expensive restaurant.

Amazing experience. Delicious food (we loved the wagyu beef and soft shell crab and mango maki). The staff were really kind and helpful, especially the sake connoisseur. Would recommend highly.

The staff could not have been more thoughtful. When the heavens opened they moved us promptly and were so apologetic (not their fault it rained). Excellent service.

Was extremely cold, they have blankets but for this standard of restaurant you would expect heaters. The ambiance was odd because you could really feel that people were freezing and not enjoying themselves. Food was beautiful, but portions were too small. We had the £74 signature menu and did not feel it was enough. They could do more to make it look prettier outside, comfy chairs, cushions, lights, heaters.

This will have to be the worse dining experience in my life for what I paid for food, drinks, service, ambience etc. The mains came 25 minutes before sides and starters therefore the mains was consumed before sides i.e. jasmine steamed rice arrived My husband received half of his bento box - he had to wait 15 minutes for his sushi roll and sashimi The miso soups arrived after all good was eat We ordered 2 geisha martinis I could not taste any alcohol whatsoever This booking was for 4 people so we paid £50 each to reserve the table I would not pay more than £15 pp for the experience we had Staff were disorganised and confused Very disgruntled when we asked for blankets EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED I will be making a formal complaint and requesting for a full refund

Amazing. Staff were friendly and accommodating, blankets were available when requested. Food was incredible. I got a Wagyu bento box for £62 which included; miso soup, edamame, sushi roll, sashimi and rice & veg. Incredible deal! Looking forward to returning and trying their full menu.

Sushi was really good quality- like the ones we get in Japan. Signature Hana course is a great value. Outside was chilly without heating but they gave us a blanket which was packaged individually. Very Covid safe and look forward to go back to dine inside to enjoy the ambience.

Stains on glasses and hair in coffee unfortunate and space heaters would have helped on a cold windy day but food and service very good

The food was lovely BUT the meal was really ruined by how cold it was on the terrace. Now of course the restaurant isn’t responsible for the weather BUT I cannot understand how they charge these huge prices without providing any heaters?? Whilst they proudly talk about the terrace on the website there is no mention of the lack of heaters - and it’s totally natural to assume that a really expensive restaurant would have them. When you book they demand a £50pp deposit and whilst they DO warn you about the lack of heaters when they text the day before BUT by that time if we’d cancelled we’d have lost the £200 deposit because it was less than 24 hours before the booking! Despite taking loads of warm clothes it was so so cold. Everyone on the terrace looked frozen and miserable. Also three of us ordered bento boxes and I ordered off the al a carte. Their food arrived much quicker than mine and they had all finished their meal (and were desperate to leave due to the cold!) by the time my main course arrived. When I asked why the waitress said (three times) this was because they come from “different departments”...?! Don’t go unless it’s properly warm outside.

Given the dining now needs to be outdoors and until it gets to summer I think there needs to be outdoor heaters placed around the tables, everything was good but it was very cold

Terrible service that made us feel like we were in a cheap Chinese restaurant despite being a hefty bill. No heating outside. The staff rushed us constantly and were unapologetic about it. Would avoid at the moment!

We had been looking forward to visiting due to great experiences previously but we were disappointed with almost all aspects today. Outdoor seating is set up in a square and fairly basic, a few large parasols but lack of partition to block the elements meant we were sitting in a wind tunnel and with 360 tall buildings, little to no sun conditions were freezing on a c. 13degree day. The temperature isn't the problem it's the added wind chill. The restaurant does provide clean blankets for each guest (wrapped in plastic) but these provided little respite from the winds. You are advised that there is no heating prior and to dress accordingly. We went for the Koari menu for lunch, portion sizes were minimal. Sushi selection was 4 sushi roll pieces + 2 slices of sashimi. The wagyu was not upto standard at all and completely disappointing. It was barely warm on arrival (black cod was ok) and consisted of 6 small slices of which majority was fat and not the marbling expected. Saving grace were the desserts and the staff who were attentive and bought out a small birthday dessert. However for over £150 expected more overall therefore unlikely to be revisiting in the future which is unfortunate as we have always recommended this restaurant to friends and family.

Very poor, weird service. Was not set up to handle rain, so chairs were wet.

Unfortunately, there are no outdoor heaters for the seating area and it became impossible for our guests to remain seated outside and we had to change the lunch to a take out so that our guests could be seated inside our offices. Not ideal and the provision of umbrella heaters would have mitigated this.

Such a high level restaurant, while offering quality food, it is appalling and ridiculous does not have heaters (only blankets) and the service was way below standard with waiters without a clue about what they serving and just rushing to close... Better improve greatly!

Even though we booked the terrace no heaters were set up which is a basic requirement especially when you go to this type of restaurant. All food ended up being freezing cold in less than 2 min. Would not recommend the terrace.

Cancel your booking while you can. They asked for your card to hold the table but actually charged you £50 per person on that one card without asking, no matter what you are going to order or who you are with. Dinning outdoor was a SUFFERING. Don’t be fooled by the nice photos of the restaurant online, very basic setting. Not a sun facing seating location, very windy and cold, no heaters available despite charging like a high-end -ish restaurant. There were only around 10 tables and they were already struggling with the service. Because of the cold, we asked for hot water and ordered hot sake. Both needed to be chased at least 3 times. The water took more than half an hour to come and the Sake, the only drink we ordered, didn’t come until we almost finished our main. We had the signature menu, which was a 3 course meal with miso soup. Food tasted ok, gone cold very quickly, the desserts tasted a bit like those from supermarkets. Totally not worth the price.(££££ on open table)

The experience was absolutely lacking. They didn’t bother to invest in heating, just put some tables and umbrellas (why??). They brought us soup only after a reminder, no child seat, water wasn’t offered, had to wait for the cutlery after they have brought food and overall service was nowhere near it should be for this price. Ran away after an hour and will not come back.

Unfortunately the evening turned out to be cold with a strong wind. The terrace doesn’t have any heaters and the area is in a wind tunnel. The food whilst it was very tasty felt like it took a long time to prepare between courses and with the cold wind it wasn’t a pleasant dining experience.

Food was brilliant however the seating area is very badly designed. There are no heaters at all, and even though blankets are provided they don’t do the job! Bit disappointed with this given the prices charged. Not a great situation to be shivering before you even receive your starter!

Although it was a beautiful sunny day the table was in a courtyard in the shade (as were the majority of tables) which was also a wind tunnel - so despite being given blankets, it was freezing cold. The shame of it was that in the sun it was lively and warm!

The terrace is absolutely freezing no heaters no point rushing there untill full restaurant opens .. I do not understand how you can have a terrace in a location that allows untold wind to not have purchased any heaters

Fantastic food and drinks, and excellent service BUT the outside terrace is a wind tunnel completely in the shade so although they give you blankets to help, it's not a sunny lunch venue!!

Terrace is not on the roof, but in the courtyard by the Economist. Big problem - there are no heaters. This makes it unbearably cold when the temperature goes below 10 degrees, so book accordingly. Service excellent, food still very good, though small portions. Wine list expensive.

Simply Terrible. ‘Outside terrace’ without any heaters!? We were completely freezing and all they could do was bring us a blanket. The menu is reduced and there is absolutely no vegetarian options. The only option was to get a mango nigiri. What a joke.

The food was absolutely incredible and the service superb. The only nag and this is a tad harsh is that the outdoor atmosphere wasn't 10/10, as it was situated outside the restaurant between office spaces. Quiet and spaced out, and granted the best they could have done with the COVID restrictions, but wasn't quite the atmosphere we'd hoped for. Could not fault the food or service though, we were even handed a comfy blanket and the staff were very friendly and attentive. First time having wagyu and I can't explain how amazing this was!

Incredibly slow service. We had the ~£75pp menu. Food was average. Price was high for what we got. The good thing is that the tables are socially distanced and they provided blankets.

Food was absolutely lovely and the restaurant is nice overalll, although the outdoor seating area was unheated so a bit chilly. However, I had booked months in advance for my birthday, and 2 days before they called to say they could no longer accommodate my booking at 8.30 pm and could I do another day. They eventually offered me a slot at 5.15, meaning I had to rearrange my plans for my birthday to fit this only 2 days before. The staff were very rude on the phone and not apologetic at all for this mess up!

Food was nice but the location of the outdoor ‘terrace’, general set up and service were all very poor. Disappointing given how good the food is and the standard we were expecting. Wouldn’t recommend.

Too cold to sit outside without heaters

Very very very overpriced. Very very very very bad food. I got the black cod bento box. Soy sauce was low grade/quality too. Sushi was not fresh. It was very bad. Rice was cold (had to ask for it to be replaced). Miso wasn’t good, hot or fresh. Cod main felt like it had been sitting out all day and warmed up for order (cos it came out suspiciously fast too). Veggies were good but freezing cold. The box they serve the bento is plain silly - sooooo difficult to eat out off. Presentation wasn’t that fantastic either. Overall this overpriced, tasted terrible, very bad Japanese food, would never come here again, wish i could get a refund. Only good thing was the service.

It was extremely cold outside. The restaurant is quite pricy and could put heaters outside. It was just impossible to sit outside, despite the provided blankets and coats we were wearing. We were charged 100£ in advance. The experience was really not good.

One of the main dishes was forgotten about. Even after we asked twice, still did not arrive. They also forgot the dessert!! And cheekily still charged the service charge - until I made a complaint and then got that part refunded! Can’t understand why they would not purchase outdoor heating. Poor service. Shame as previously this place always got it right!

Sat in their outside terrace which had no heating or decoration, it seemed that there was no effort put into making this a nice dinning experience and instead they just put a few tables outside under and umbrella. More like a pub garden than a nice restaurant. Food was very average, we've had much better at other sushi restaurants and expected more. Service was okay, however it took a long time to get served and we had to ask several times before someone came over to us. The sommelier, however, was very polite and helpful.

The terrace doesn’t have heaters so unfortunately it was too cold and we had to leave after two hours. The service was a bit slow and I got charged twice as the waitress insisted my card hadn’t gone through the first time. Lovely food, but it went cold quickly as we were sat outside without heaters. I would be hesitant to dine again until restrictions allow inside dining.

The food was excellent as always and it was really wonderful to eat out again. However it was absolutely freezing and although that’s not the fault of the restaurant it certainly detracted from the experience.

A nice setup , food was excellent , however a fail on the terrace with no heaters and the location is in a wind spot so you will be very cool if not layered up otherwise all good!

It was a special birthday lunch, we waited for about 20mins for drinks to be served, the food took over 1hr, it was absolutely freezing on the outdoor terrace, no heaters. The weather was ok, but we were disappointed that we had to takeaway in the end, they didn’t even bring anything at all to the table, no soups or even edamame. Also, we ordered two bento boxes 1 wagyu and 1 black cod, but I discovered after I had left that they added an extra one (salmon bento) to my bill which we didn’t order and we didn’t get basically, then I called to tell them but got through to a lady in reservations saying she can’t get through to them and will send them an email for the manager to contact me. I know it’s the first day they’re opening but everyone was disappointed and the service was appalling, they took ages and didn’t even discount anything, they took the service charge off and the tea, but then charged me £35 extra for a third bento box which we didn’t order or get. Furthermore the food was extremely salty, and we threw away the soups, as well as some other things. Would not recommend! Pointless, overpriced lunch if you ask me. What’s worse is that we had to ask for the takeaway two or three times as it was taking ages. We arrived 12:41 and we left at 13:56 HUNGRY, not having eaten, then when we get to the car we found out the soup was very bad, and other things were untouchable, most of it ended up in the bin. Sorry but not at all what we expected in terms or food quality or service.
