Japanese BBQ place where you cook your own meats on the hot grill in the middle of your table. The restaurant provides the tongs and a large selection of sliced meats including many different cuts of Japanese wagyu which are also presented in the window. They also serve nice Asian salads/pickles and garlic rice. We liked all the beef cuts especially the Tri Tip and the premium hanging tender which was a highlight.

We booked for Sunday lunch for 2 pm, at 2.30 pm we were told by the useless waitress the kitchen is closing, we had only just received our first/starter order, so we had to rush our lunch from an advertised 1.30 hrs down to 50 minutes, the food was ok, too much pepper on the beef though, the only positive was yuzu sorbet, which came with our beef order,so we had to eat it before it turned to joice, we will go to back to Kintan, in Holburn, the next time we want japanese bbq.

Super restaurant.

We were out just looking for somewhere to have a lunch in the West End and almost walked passed it. We had pre-booked another Japanese restaurant but when we scoped it out early during our walk, decided to cancel that. HachiBBQ barely looks like a restaurant from the outside. We did arrive a tad later than might be expected on a lunch & dinner-service restaurant and knowing now what I didn't know then, the lunch takes a while. Indeed, the restaurant had the Closed sign up by the time we left, Having said that, there was no pressure on us to hurry up and get out. What initially caught our attention was the splendid display of wagyu beef in the window and then I saw heads moving inside and noticed a menu on the door. Had to give it a go. We seemed to be almost the only non-Japanese customers on this occasion. We elected for the Wagyu Lunch course, which is pretty much top of the lunch ratecard. It was great. No, it was better than that. We had our own tabletop electric BBQ and the charming waitresses explained how best to cook our meat. The side dishes and accompaniments were nicely prepared and presented. All fresh. The whole event, because that's what it ended up being, took about an hour. The meal and ingredients were very nicely balanced and the portions spread across the hour, were more than enough. All the staff were really welcoming. This wagyu beef malarkey is a new world of meat for us. I think we finally understand what the fuss is about The place is quite initimate and has a basement dining area. I don't know what the evening dinner menu might be about, but a firm recommendation for lunch.

Authentic Japanese BBQ in the heart of SoHo. We enjoyed the Japchae, Wagyu and garlic fried rice. Would absolutely recommend this place.

We booked a table for lunch and the booking was accepted - however, from the minute we got in there we were repeatedly told they were closing soon, and the waitress seemed genuinely annoyed that we were there. We were hurried every step of the way, from the waitress walking away while we were still ordering our food, to taking plates away that still had food on, to bringing our bill that we hadn't asked for while we were still eating. Food was great, but it would have been nice to actually savour it rather than being rushed to eat it as quickly as possible. If you don't want people in your restaurant at certain times, don't accept bookings.

Service was sooo slow. No one paid us any attention after we were seated. After we had ordered drinks took forever to arrive even though there were only two other tables of customers. Seemed like staff were more busy with entertaining and talking to each other. There were several working there but not sure what they actually did. We ordered the BBQ lunch but no one explained to us what we needed do. We asked every chance we got for guidance. The food that you barbecue yourself by the table was fresh and good. Suddenly we were rushed out of the restaurant even if our drinks weren’t finished -they were closing.. If you want a different experience this is cool. Especially if you, like us, have travelled quite a bit in Asia. However if you are looking for service then this place is not for you. It is pricey in order for how much food you get and they are not flexible if you want to exchange items in the menu.

Came here as a group of 4 friends. I was only really interested in the meat, though the prawns were popular with the others. There are several different types of meat available (as you might expect in Japan). They were all top quality. I recommend treating yourself to a portion of chateaubriand. Not particularly cheap, but thoroughly recommended for a treat.

It was my first time trying bbq place and I have to say WOW!! No exaggeration, it’s was amazing. Good food, wagu was amazing would highly recommend. Went on my bday got the fried gayouz and you get to a scratch to win a prize, they told me you don’t win anything big expecting a free drink or something but got head phones, not bad to get on your bday. The service was amazing all because of the one main guy Robbie, you are a true gent, made me and my other half feel special and amazing service. I will definitely will be going back.

We went for Big Spicze’s birthday meal and were very pleased with the impressive food and really friendly service. When Big Spizce accidentally touched raw food with her chopsticks, they were very quick and professional to replace the chopsticks. Do recommend and was very pleased. (So was Big Spicze)

This is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in London. The food is soo rich and bursting with flavour, the staff are really friendly and welcoming. The fun part is cooking the BBQ yourself, it gives it that extra touch that you don’t normally find in other restaurants! Overall it is one of the best restaurants in London!

Little did we know we were going on what would be the hottest day of the year! However, that aside, this is a great experience. The head waitress was kind and accommodating, explaining everything to us as novices. The experience was great, a very sociable, fun way to catch up with friends. The quality and flavour of the food was great. Only didn't get 5 stars because our other waiter was a bit clueless, bringing the wrong wine, not really knowing the menu and taking a long time. A bit more training required there perhaps. Otherwise it was great

We were refused entry for a pre dinner drink as our 15yo daughter was with us and were left to wait on the street for 30 minutes until our table was ready. Good restaurants accommodate people in this situation. The service was average and unenthusiastic. The quality of the T bone steak and black cod was poor, sushi was good. This place has high notions about itself but fails to deliver. Exorbitant prices for very average service and food. Would definitely not recommend

Amazing food as always. Service was great but feels like could be made better with attentiveness and better order taking process. Love the terrace and the setting on a sunny day, can’t wait for it to open indoor.
