This was my fourth meal at Sajee restaurant. As a Sri Lankan, the food tasted honestly beyond the limit and felt homey. The best taste ever comes from the deliciously cooked ingredients and spices. The price is also very reasonable and I can't complain about it. The most important aspect of this restaurant is the friendly and caring staff, from the Chefs to the waitress especially Sajini, she remembers all your preferences and can offer the right choice of a meal if you're not certain of any dishes. Besides, it's a must to try her Masala tea, which she makes and serves herself. She suggested and invited me to come over on Friday before 5pm for an enticing meal that includes freshly cooked vegetables. I will definitely visit again..

What an experience!!!!!! We went into Lewisham to find somewhere to eat. We were stood across the road and briefly looked in from a distance, still yet to make up our minds when Amil crossed over to us & asked if we would like to eat (never have we been approached this way and it made up our minds to give it a try). Amil explained the meat, vegetarian and vegan options. We had the spicy Aubergine curry, vegetable biryani, lamb curry & pilau rice. All tasted brilliant. We had roti & paratha breads to accompany, both cooked fresh & delicious. The food did not all come at once, but everything was cooked fresh and was worth the wait. Amil also gave us a Dal to try which was also very nice. I had an ice cream for dessert & my partner had a ginger tea (large chunks of fresh ginger grated in). The price of the food was very good, the experience provided by Amil was on another level, will definitely be returning.

7/6/22 Sajee Tuesday evening 4/5 We three middle aged Lewisham guys had a couple of continental friends staying with us. They wanted to treat us to a meal so we suggested the local South Indian/Sri Lankan cuisine needed to tried as rare elsewhere in Europe. Lewisham has a local community that has generated a few restaurants near our house. We warned them that it is quite spicy and very filling with possible side effects (they were flying back the next day) but they were happy to experiment. It was a quiet Tuesday and we decided not to take our own beer or wine as it feels uncomfortable to drink alcohol in such restaurants with respect for their religion. We took our tiny Fiat Panda to our first choice, Madras on the high street but passing by it was brightly lit and completely empty (they do a busy takeaway trade which we use occasionally too). We carried on through the new emerging centre of Lewisham and out again to Lee High Road to see, on passing, the Sajee had a few people in so more convivial. We parked up and in we went at around 9pm. I chose a table near the window to attract more people in and the friendly waiter made us comfortable by giving us the laminated menus and telling us of starters they had which were not in the menu, many 'devilled'. My friend also wanted a prawn kotu roti which was not on the menu. The waiter checked with the chef that it was available and confirmed yes it was. We decided on a mix of dishes including starters to show off the style of curry to our friend, including a couple of devilled starters. We also chose some lassies and ayrans. As the choices mounted we warned that we always ordered too much but doggy bags were available. We ordered a jug of water too. The waiter left us to sort through some delivery orders, as couriers came and went. The chef and assistant often popped out to chat with couriers, the waiter or customers. The first courses came dish by dish, the waiter explaining how each was made fresh so they would come over time. This was fine but the water and drinks were not accompanying the relatively dry dishes (albeit very tasty and piping hot). We had not had the devilled cassava, chilli paneer or 'Goby 65' before. There were a lot of onions involved and were spicy hot but they went down well. More starters but no drinks. It was not a busy restaurant but takeaways were occasionally leaving the premises. I had to remind the waiter about the water, ayrans and the lassies. Maybe we should have brought our own beer! Amidst the continued delivery of starters the water finally came. The traditional starters were as usual hot and delicious. Our friends were impressed but feeling full...... Then the mains and sides arrived, in order of ordering...distinct, tasty, delicious. The sambols repeated themselves and the idlies were too filling for no real flavour (as usual, I try to avoid them personally but our friends were curious). During the meal I had to remind the waiter about our lassies and ayrans yet again and eventually (he was busy sorting deliveries) arrived and were quite refreshing and cooling on the pallet......at last! We managed to eat most of the food as we shared dishes between us. Then came the fish curry and Paneer Marsala Dosa which they had forgotten about! We technically struggled through our banquet. Our friends initially refused their own choices but ultimately we made it through together. The fish was quite generous. I advised one friend to concentrate on the filling of the dosa and only a bit of the crunchy wafer thin pancake. I finished a lot of the smaller items including the oft repeated sambols. The rest we had to ask the waiter to put in a container, I did that myself with a couple of left over dishes combined as he thought it was not worth it. I hate food waste and it was delicious, ready to eat the next day. We asked for the bill (£89) which our friends settled and despite the tardy service (very friendly though) gave a tenner as a tip. The waiter asked me to Ggl review them, interesting as they know it is good food but the service would be a let down, however friendly. I told them I only do TA but would make an exception.... We left just before 11pm and made our way home to have a digestif!

It’s been a month since I had a masala dosa from this restaurant and I have been dying to go again. Very affordable and the flavours are just out of this world. 3 curries and a huge potato filled pancake for just £5.95.

Found this plastic/nylon thread inside the lump rice. Food safety needs to be inspected. Need to escalate this to the department asap.

Over an hour to be delivered, food luke warm & NO DIPS! Even though I ordered popadoms.. when would you ever go to an Indian restaurant and get popadoms with no dips. Popadoms were stale, really poor.
