During my recent visit, Eleanor, the bartender, made the experience truly exceptional. When my boyfriend's drink spilled on the floor and things got a bit awkward, Eleanor came over, had a chat with me, and put me at ease within minutes. I knew she was a genuine soul. She was so understanding and friendly that I only wanted to be served by her! Eleanor’s lovely personality shone through in every interaction. Her ability to create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere was remarkable. Each drink she made was crafted with care and a personal touch, showing her passion and expertise. Eleanor's exceptional friendliness and warm nature make her a standout bartender. She truly enhances the experience and deserves a raise for her outstanding service.

My husband and I had a Sunday lunch which was delicious.I was absolutely gobsmacked when I asked for more gravy to be told that they charge for extra gravy! We had a tiny jug and was charged £1 It’s not the money! All the Sunday lunches I’ve been out for over the years. Not once have I been told we would have to pay for extra gravy! The waiter/waitress would always come out with an extra jug anyway! Unreal!!

A boutique hotel located at St Paul’s in central Birmingham. The room is okay size for one person, a bit small for two. The lift is out of order - not really convenient for people travelling with luggage. There’s no breakfast and no room service. Location is poor, as I had to walk 10min to get to the nearest grocery store and restaurant options are quite limited.

I live locally and I’m always really torn with St Paul’s. On the one hand it’s a lovely bar/restaurant. The drinks are a little expensive but nothing you wouldn’t expect. They often have great live music on which is nice in the evening alongside a drink. However, the music is far too loud. I can see on some of the other reviews people have said the same, but nothing seems to change. It’s so loud you can’t barely hear each other speak and it does ruin the atmosphere and turn it into more of a bar/club vibe. Secondly, the food. It’s terrible. I went for a bottomless brunch and the service and food was a shambles (although the staff are lovely, I’d say there are just too few of them). I’m not a fussy eater but the food was rank and it’s definitely put me off eating here. This was a few months ago though, so it might have been a one off. Wouldn’t go back for anything other than a drink though.

I was staying for 2 nights and advised the staff on day 1 but was told to tell the morning staff as i didn't want to swap rooms. I went down in the morning to be advised i should have said the previous day to which i advised i had so they made me check out and put all my things back in my car to later get back and find i had been given the same room. I also had a hair dryer brake on my which was scary as it got so hot so went to reception and advised i had to be out for a meeting in 10 mins and the lady went and served a gentleman behind me and he apologised to me as i was left stood there with wet hair and she advised 'I will deal with her after' then continued to check the gentleman out. She finally went and found me a hair dryer but i was then 5 mins late to leave. The hotel bar staff were great and the hotel was clean just a shame about the service at the hotel reception

Celebrated a 40th birthday, used their private room. Service and food were great. As a wheelchair user I found the entrance and exit tricky. They have brilliant double doors but up a slight curb. I found more confidence getting out the chair and stepping up and down. So something to keep in mind for those with more pronounced mobility issues.

What a disappointment. After a lovely visit a few years ago, I was very much looking forward to visiting with two friends and making a really nice evening of enjoying good food, wine and great company. Definitely not the case on this visit. As soon as we entered and stood at the Host station to be seated for our reservation, we were ignored by several passing members of staff. We had to stop one in their tracks to acknowledge and seat us and they looked put out that we had asked. Sat at a table that was so wobbly our drinks kept moving, with music too loud that we had to talk loudly over it, our server brought us our drinks and took our food order and once delivered that was the last time we saw them. They didn’t check on our food, and they didn’t come back to take another drinks order. One of us had an empty glass for the entirety of the meal and us other two sipped so slowly as we knew we had no chance of getting another. Unfortunately my friend and I had the Seabass and the entire meal was so over-salted you couldn’t taste anything else. But we were that hungry and with no server around to flag it, I ate mine and my friend ate half of hers. When the server finally came to clear the table, I did say that as I had eaten it, I wasn’t complaining but just wanted to let them know if they were serving it to anyone else to let them know it was really salty. The server said he wouldn’t discount it as I had eaten it – I hadn’t asked for it to be discounted – but I did say that no server had stopped by the table for me to flag the meal to them. He said he would talk to the manager and when he came back he said he had discounted the food by 20% which was unexpected and I thanked him for that. Once we had requested the bill, only then did we have a server come over to ask if we wanted dessert….. which by this stage was a definite no. But what really really annoyed me was not the disappointing food but the absolute audacity of adding a service charge of 10% without disclosing this to us and the fact that all they had done was taken an order and brought the food to the table - wow servers, that’s your job to do that! It was laughable that the server appeared shocked when I asked them to take the charge off! Also they charged us more for our meals than the price that was on the menu…but was so fed up at this stage we didn’t say anything more and just wanted to leave – our visit was done in less than an hour so definitely not the lovely relaxing evening catching up with friends I had imagined. Worse restaurant visit I have had anywhere in a really long time. PS – please sort your filthy toilets out, you’re a restaurant, have some standards thanks PPS – stop sneaking service charges onto bills, it’s not the UK custom for obligatory tipping. I’ll tip at my own discretion thank you which will be for excellent service, which couldnt have been further from that on this occasion.

Bottomless brunch was booked for a Christmas get together, but it was the worst bottomless brunch we’ve had and we’ve done a hell of a lot! Our brunch started at 4, we were seated around 4:30 & our first drink was served after 5pm. The ‘bottomless’ drinks were pure syrup and not alcaholic at all. Not the place to go if you want to feel like youv had a drink. We drank a fair bit and didn’t feel slightly bit tipsy. Poor alcahol, watered down and just syrup in drinks. Food choices for brunch were poor. An arrabiata pasta was served without any choice of beef/chicken!? Just a bowl in carbs. Overall a poor experience. Just avoid!

We arrived a little earlier than our booking & front of house Olivia was amazing & was able to seat us. Initially the service was so attentive & awesome however once there was an influx of customers & bridal showers it went downhill. We had the bottomless lunch (starter & main) which was amazing & all going so well until they advised us they had ran out of Pinot Grigio (I mean really this was the prime wine available on the bottomless lunch) A waitress (with no knowledge of wines) advised the replacement was Chardonnay & then asked if I ‘wanted to spice it up with lemonade’ (are you for real!!) I Managed to locate a waiter who knew a little about wine who advised they had ‘managed’ to locate 1/2 bottle of Pinot. This is a prime city centre restaurant that offers bottomless lunch & the run outof the prime wine they have to offer..poor planning! the main roast dinner was delicious, whilst we allowed our dinner to digest our plan was to browse over the dessert menu.. this didn’t materialise .. the baby shower tables appeared to take priority.. we were never offer a dessert menu or coffee. When we asked for the bill a service £8.95 was added. Left quite dissatisfied

Booked bottomless brunch with a friend. Beautiful looking building but that’s about all that was good. Duck salad starter, both had the same and one was a smaller portion compared to the other. Tried a bit but it was so salty. Sent it back. Was then asked if we wanted our mains yet, asked what they were doing with the starter and the waitress (who lacked any real enthusiasm for the job), informed me that the chef said I’d eaten too much for them to do anything. Main came (burger), was quite dry and definitely tasted more shop bought than made in house, chips were fab. The other staff were friendlier and a general interest. They replaced starter with pudding. It was ok. It was such a shame and if they are to compete with other brunches in Birmingham, they need to engage better with customers and serve better food. Shame as I expected more.

When in Florence go to Trattoria Enzo & Piero for the Bistecca alla Fiorentina and when you are in Birmingham go for the Bottomless Sunday lunch at St Pauls House and in either case you will get great Italian service if Davida is looking after you in Brum! Went with the chaps for lunch which was fabulous - had a range of starters - the bonbons were very good and mother and BIL agreed, the terrine and salmon went to him and sister - all very well received! Mains saw beef and chicken with all the accompaniments nicely roasted veg and of course fluffy Yorkshires... And to finish (and in-keeping with the Italian theme!) we created out own Neapolitan ice cream - chocolate, strawberry and vanilla! Service was superb throughout - we were looked after by Davida who made us very welcome and treated mom like royalty - perfecto! After the bottomless we stayed on - sitting out in the (brief) spell of sunshine and back in the lounge for another couple of 'cheers' where Wally took up the baton of looking after us perfectly for the evening! A great place to spend a long leisurely Sunday afternoon - food, drinks and above all else service that can't be beaten! Looking forward to the next visit already - ciao for now!

Went for breakfast and to watch the coronation. Server unhelpful and unsmiling. You could tell that they were a person who enjoyed using the word no and maintaining a deadpan expression. Not one smile. After they eventually took our order They even got that wrong! I asked for the one television and a giant screen in another part of the lounge showing the coronation be accompanied with sound, reply, no not company policy. Asked for a drink, no again as the bar did not open till 11. You could tell they were enjoying themselves with the negative responses. After the order arrived, I decided to ask for the duty manager. If I had closed my eyes I would have been convinced that I was speaking to the same person. Unsmiling, unconcerned and uninterested best describes their response to the concerns. I made the comment that staff spent most of time chatting amongst themselves. To which their reply was, " well the staff are allowed to chat amongst themselves"! No apology and no offer to correct the order. They said even when the football is being shown sound is not allowed. For goodness sake this was a coronation! A once in a lifetime event! These two individuals should not be working in hospitality. Place was deserted that says a lot!

I used to visit this place regularly until an altercation with a "valued member of staff" I started going back after almost a year and after a few weeks a lady who said she was the manager (never come across her in 4 years!) told me I'm no longer welcome, without any reason. Could it be because the "valued member of staff" was worried I might expose their scam?

The food was ok. I visited with one other person but I was disappointed by two things. - Went to order a meal for two at the bar (no one else was waiting). The person behind the bar made eye contact with me initially then totally ignored me saying nothing even though I was looking to get his attention to order. I find that to be extremely rude. I’m pretty sure the person was a manager. - after waiting a few minutes, the waitress came behind the bar to take my order. After paying my bill, she asked me if I wanted a receipt which I declined. I questioned the total price after paying as it seemed a little more expensive than what I expected from the menu, I asked if a service charge was added to the bill, she confirm it was. How can you automatically add a service charge without telling the person especially where there were only two people eating? The only interaction I had with the server was when the food was brought to our table.

Stopped here after a day of shopping and food at the bullring. Very spacious and cosy interior. Booths are quite private which means you're not bothered by other guests. The staff are friendly and attentive. They welcomed us and were pleasant throughout. The desserts are bang average and nothing special or to shout home about. The staff experience and environment makes up for it though. There is a weird vibe though, almost as if they should serve Shisha.. I think if they did it would really make the place kick. I'm not sure if I would return but it is worth a try and is a good venue for friends/family.
