Took the Grandchildren for tea, as a treat, absolutely disgusting, I really don’t know who cooked the food, took ages to come, tasted like he/she had picked it up out of the bin, the grandchildren could have cooked it better, it was over cooked burnt, and totally tasteless, what are you doing Sainsbury’s employing cooks who can’t cook an egg, what a total disappointment

Best breakfast anywhere!!! And we are fussy eaters . Choose what you want , very reasonable, super friendly staff , We are hooked thank you !

Shocking food. Jacket potato served with no butter, the tuna mayonnaise honestly looked like cat sick. Hardly any tuna, mostly watery mayonnaise. Leaves on the side but no salad dressing - they don’t have it! Hellooooo! No wonder M&S cafe is so busy. Dirty tables too despite at least 3 staff & not busy. Never again.

Visited to get a meal st3pm Friday no hot food available service very poor. Sainsburys need to sort themselves out.

Tasty, hot and very good service. The whole full English was very good value. Friendly staff and clean.

This cafe is like being in your own front room staff very friendly nothing too much for them always cleaning the tables when empty so very nice polite and smile even behind their masks their smiles are so big their masks pucker up. My son is autistic and loves smiles and they do it here. He feels safe. Thanks Sainsbury's

Popped in for a quick coffee before I did my shopping. It’s only just reopened after a lengthy closure. Don’t know why they bothered. The menu is sparse. The customer service is rude and they even charge for butter portions with a toasted teacake. Seriously. Don’t bother. Go to M&S cafe over the road at least it’s better value.

Always stop in the cafe for a coffee and breakfast snack. Good service and great value. Quality and reasonable prices always make it a break from shopping.

Most dishes are good and generally hot. They could do with more staff as waiting times are quite long at times. I wish someone would iron their aprons they are a mess.

Told it was a 20 minute wait for a pre-made toastie to be toasted. Over priced for quality. Carrot cake was dry. Latte was luke warm.

Stopped off after a long drive, they have a good menu selection and me and my young son has the Big Breakfast and the Sausage & Mash. Both were really good and reasonably priced. Would recommend for a quick pit stop!

Lovely hotel. The staff are friendly. Cannot fault the hotel room. Gorgeous decor and amazing ceiling.

Slow service due to only one member of staff at the till who had to serve hot drinks, take orders and use the till. Come on sainsburys it's not good enough. Tables needed wiping and clearing, no staff available to do that. If sainsburys bosses provided more staff in the busy cafe then people wouldn't walk away due to the queues.

Do not expect to pop in for a quick cuppa. Today l visited at mid day. There was a 25 minute wait for food. That is after a 10 minute wait in the Q to be served. Looking around there were at least 8 empty tables waiting to be cleared. Sainsbury's need to employ more staff.

Went at just after 1. Have the menu was sold out. One toastie left, no omlettes, no soup. Terrible. Asked for two tea bags in pot of tea, got one, paid for hazelnut latte, got standard. No apologies, just surly.

Firstly I'm no stranger to supermarket breakfasts with lots of traveling over the years so I'm not expecting silver service or haute cuisine just good basic food at a good price. So ordered our breakfasts and then things started to go wrong: - spotted some tables by the windows but wouldn't sit at them as whilst the dishes had been cleared they were still covered in crumbs and stickiness (they were not cleaned the whole time we were there.) - Couple next to us sent their breakfast back for being stone cold and a manager refunding - We watched people who had arrived after us get their food - Watched another couple of people take their drinks back because something wrong and get them repoured (in same cup) then the sides wiped down with the same cloth they were wiping surfaces down with. - Finally got our food after the confused waiter kept walking past us and our large number! - Sadly, but not surprisingly, the food generally was barely lukewarm, with the exceptions of the fried eggs. Obviously been sat there congealing while waiting for the eggs. - Called waiter over and explained it was cold and we wanted a refund, he shrugged and asked for the card we paid on. No apology. - Went to the counter as not prepared to let a card out of my sight. - Woman at counter asked what I wanted and I said the refund, she smirked and muttered something to another member of staff about kitchen still not working. No apology. - Another female member of staff appeared seemingly trying to do ten things (and I wish I noticed her name as the only person who had any sense of urgency or care) and when realised what was going on apologised, asked if she could at least put our drinks in takeaway cups to try and make amends. I'm guessing that it was Saturday morning and there were no senior members of management around so lots of staff didn't care about level or lack of service. No idea who the suit was who refunded the table down from us was but can;t have been particularity senior as didn't check anything else just gave the refund and walked off. Sad reflection on a store like Sainsburys, in a competitive market they should be doing much better and their other shops do manage it.

Had the most beautiful jacket potatoe and latte coffee. Staff are friendly. Recommend this cafe. Reasonable prices.

went to do some shopping and decided to have a bite to eat while we were there. i had the sausage baguette, my wife was not too hungry so had a childs scrambled egg on toast. when it came it was well presented with plenty of egg. great value. my baguette was fine but a little hard to bite. the food was good and the value good.

Very bad experience! Got told at the counter they had no bigger breakfast .. ok that's fine I'll order the coronation jacket potato. Waited 30mins at table to then be told that they have no coronation !!!! This is disgusting service that you make customers wait for food and then be told they don't have that food. I suggest that the staff get trained !! Never returning again .

There were no tea plates, cups, tea pots, napkins, milk jug empty, had to clear and clean table - tables not being cleared - admit not usually quite so disorganized but not enough staff for this busy time of year

The staff in coffee shop always seem to be in slow mo mode . Food takes ages to appear but when it arrives it is ok not brilliant. Very often out of decaf coffee 😩

Went to the service counter, ordered our food and then asked for drinks. My wife requested a pot of tea - ok; I requested a decaf cappuccino - NOT ok - they were out of decaf coffee!! How does this work in a supermarket where there is plenty on the shelves???? My wife had a bacon baguette which she thoroughly enjoyed; I had the Chicken with porchino mushroom pie, when I cut into the pie a mushroom sauce spilled out, it wasn’t until I got to the second half of the pie that I found any reasonable pieces of chicken and no mushroom pieces. A more correct description of this pie would be chicken in a mushroom sauce.

Having braved the traffic,and the panic buying public!! in the main store. Lunch sounds a good idea,WRONG to many people waiting so how about coffee WRONG to many people and not enough staff to cope. Joined the traffic jam to go home

Stopped off for Fish and chips with my mum, we waited 35 minutes for our food, other people had been served who had come in after us...other people were complaining about the wait too..tables were sticky, cutlery was not clean....we both had fish and chips and were both extremely ill ( as we walked round the store doing some shopping afterwards, unfortunately we had to leave to get home!...the fish was black in the middle and the chips had been cooked in old oil.

Came to eat with my family and my daughters fishcake was still frozen in the middle! Shows health and safety food policies that I assume must be in place, are completely ignored by staff!! Slow slow service and total disregard for food service and quality! Does not deserve the amount of custom it receives. Very dangerous food practice to serve half cooked, cold fish!

lovely staff, the young man serving told us about the 25 minute wait before he took our food order, he was efficient, smart and cheerful, the other café staff were also helpful and cheerful, the food was hot, and very good.

We have had breakfast a few times and Every time it is Cold, we keep hoping it will improve but it never does.

the mac cheese is disgusting . prepacked and warmed up . Warm mac cheese next to salad I complained and got my money back immediately with no hassle that says it all .I wont be back

En los últimos cinco años he estado comiendo y apagar, la comida ha sido en y fuera. La mejor comida es por lejos el jamón, huevos y patatas fritas. Los huevos ya no son sunny side up (con la clara de un huevo), estupendo, el jamón siempre ha sido buena. Pero ahora los chips son duras y sabor terroso. Las tartas son una vergüenza con carne poco abundante salsa principalmente en el pescado y patatas fritas; la salida del paquete de Deep Freeze (Aves Eye) con mucho quizás de masa y poco pescado; las patatas horneadas en general buena. Los precios no son tan bajos que uno se siente tentado a decir "qué se puede esperar en ese precio? "

Patatas fritas frías, huevos, duro y correoso, encantador personal, quieres ser comer aquí de nuevo aunque, debe reemplazar a personal de cocina, o reciclarme ellos

Normalmente tienen que hacer cola, esperar para ser servido, dijeron no hay ninguno a la izquierda, en el lugar elegido y terminan esperando una eternidad aburrida y sin sabor de la comida.

Connor in the cafe is amazing always helping people and its very reliable very switched on to people's needs

Must say that this was a bit of a disappointmentOnly one young lad behind the counter with a long line of people waiting for service, and he expected to take food and drink orders and be a barista too.Hot chocolate's were cool (not in a good way)as was the cottage pie. See the picture for the miniscule amount of actual filling and the over swamping of tasteless watery gravy pored over the top. £5 Was just an insult for this ready meal slapped on a plate.Don't get me started on the state of the restaurant, we had to choose the least messy table and clear it ourselves.Come on Saintsbury's, treat the customers with a bit of respect; even IKEA scores better than this

Popped in on a Saturday morning staff were friendly, ordered three breakfasts ,tables were clean breakfasts were hot and tasty would go again

This small Sainsbury's on the Brixham road Paignton is a gem.Staff cheerfully serve you in a quiet corner of the store.Good cooked to order small but ample menu, very clean and well set out,We had fish & chips and they were delicious the drinks served hot and fresh delivered to the tables.Good selection of sandwiches and cakes.

We have eaten here a few times because it is within the supermarket and is therefore convenient for a quick bite before shopping.However the tables seem to take ages to be cleared. I know that they expect the customers to take the trays to a collection point but do they expect us to also bring a damp cloth to clean the tables? Yesterday my companion had a cold drink in one of the paper cups, she couldn't finish the whole drink but the only way it would have fitted in the clearance area would have been to lay it on it's side! Needless to say we had to leave it on the table.The food is what you expect at the price. Each time we have used this café it has taken several attempts to 'swipe' Nectar cards - not just mine but cards in general. When you comment on this the staff say they know!I think this café needs a bit of a sort out! People use it because of it's location and 'captive audience'. Would I use it if it wasn't attached to Sainsbury? NO.

For a supermarket cafe the food is lovely! The soup is my fave as you can help yourself to a huge bowlfull and choose from a selection of rolls to go with it. The staff are generally very polite, friendly & extremly helpful. Definatly give it a go you'll be suprised.

OK so I was early and not many folk around at 8.30am so the café was almost empty.Full english (£4,25) which included two sausages,two slices of toast,beans,two rashers of bacon,hash brown,grilled tomato and black pudding (add extra 80p).Good mug of coffee for £1.45.Prompt and efficient service accompanied by a full container of sachet sauces at no extra cost.Also newspaper availability and the sun was shining.Couldn't ask for more and great value for money.

Usually breakfast in M&S (at The Willows) but thought we would try Sainsburys Cafe for a change. Not a good choice. We ordered scrambled eggs with bacon, tomatoes, mushroom and toast. When delivered the eggs were so watery they made everything else soggy. Won't be eating there again especially as it was quite expensive for what it was.

Popped in for lunch at this cafe. The staff were very slow and no offence intended but none of them could hear what was being ordered as they were all of the older generation. It took 20 minutes to get served, I ordered to Latte's and two hot meals. Once seated we waited for over 50 minutes for our order to be brought out only to find that they were the wrong dishes! The latte was fine but not presented very well at the till. Don't think I'll be back, it was very disappointing.

On a shopping visit last week we had lunch at this restaurant and although on previous visits the standard has been fine ,this time was disappointing.ihad an English breakfast and the fried egg was broken and cold,there was a sea of baked beans anthe toast was burnt.There is much better value and quality around and it wasn't even busy in the restaurant

visited here today for the shopping went to the cafe for a sandwich to find all the sandwiches were brown bread i can not eat brown bread or any brown type produce a young girl told me to ask and they would make a white bread sandwich for me as they g had plenty of filling when i asked i was told no as they dont do sandwiches to order point blank refusal went back to see if there was anything else i could have and the girl was appalled i was refused she offered to do it for me but i stopped her as she would have got into trouble as they had said no other customers were refuse what they wanted told its not on the lunch menu another person brought the white bread sandwich to the counter to be told it was for toasting only the staff didnt care just had a take it or leave it attitude RUBBISH Why do sandwich makers assume we eat only brown bread with salad ect i have a dietary problem but and can not so wise up it wasant even busy when i asked

Was taken back on how bland and tasteless our breakfast was considering Sainsburys have access to a massive selection of food under the same roof. Also one of our party had a door step bacon sandwich it was served without being cut in half and never had a sandwich present without being cut. This restaurant could be so much better if you employed a chief who was allowed to be creative and a manager who has experience running a large restaurant. Come on Sainsburys listen to your customers as this has so much potential but we won't be returning as bland food and excessive waiting times is not for us.

Very friendly happy staff which is a good start to the day and they are always like this early on in the day. Food is speedy and of good quality.

Been here a few times. The staff are incredibly slow at serving food and drinks. The coffee is weak and tasteless. It's a shame as it could be good if the staff were of higher quality.

Before I write this I must point out that this is not the sort of service I'm used to at Sainsburys, whether it is for a meal or a shopping spree. I've also had nothing but a positive experience at both Newton Abbot and Paignton Sainsburys restaurants in particular. I would recommend them over other supermarkets. However, it is most disappointing for me to have to give a negative review of Torquay Sainsburys restaurant. I have no complaint about the store itself, but the food and the service are not what I'm used to! The food was substandard to say the least. I ordered a ham and mushroom omelete, the mushrooms were shrivelled up and looked as though the tops had literally been cut off! There was no ham at all. I had to request a separate portion of ham. My Grandson, who had ordered ham, egg and chips, was sick in the bathroom. I, too, felt sick for a week afterwards.Due to the fact it isn't the first time this has happened, I felt the need to complain because I now don't feel I can return to a cafe I once enjoyed eating at with family after the busy supermarket shop on Fridays and Saturdays. I can only hope the service picks up soon. Not to mention the food. :(

It's a good job the cafe doesn't reflect the rest of the supermarket! Poor quality of service with staff unable to use the simplest of equipment (including the till). Food order came out burnt but cold!! (Don't know how this could be possible!). Staff unapproachable and very thin on the ground. Extremely disappointed!

Stopped off here for a light lunch- soup and roll, cup of coffee- not massively busy but there was a long lunch. My soup had almost gone cold by the time I got it to the table- huge delay getting the coffee- just one person and he barely acknowledged me. The table was none too clean, and neither was the floor. Would have expected better from Sainsburys- wouldn't go there again.

Not very amused with the food, if it come of the shelf at least use the good stuff. Eggs 1 undercooked the other overlooked. Sausages over cooked looked like cocktail sausages. The staff (not all) looked as if they did not want to be there.

Menus not massive, but the food was nice and it came quickly. Only nit picks are that I ordered chicken kiev for my partner sat down and then someone came to our table to say they've stopped doing it even though its on the menu, so he chose fish pie to say they don't have any left. Tables are too low for my liking and some of the tables are a little too close together also.
