Sainsburys in Woking

Twice we have tried to eat hear in the last month and both times very negative visits. Asked for things on the menu to be told they dont have them or that they are closing soon so not making any more. Poor quality food when we did finally find something they have. Last visit they had just closed at 4.30pm I'm sure they used to be open later. Staff not really bothered about you or quite rude. Shame as it used to be ok here.

Stopped here for lunch. Ordered bangers and mash. Not a difficult dish. Order at the counter was easy. Table I sat at was clean. I was able to collect a fork from the desk, but no knives were evident. When I saw an employee I asked about the missing knives. She offered to go and get some. In the mean time a number of other customers ordered and were also looking for eating implements. The employee eventually returned with three knives. A little while later the food was brought to my table. The food was mostly lukewarm, apart from the gravy which was piping hot. A little extra effort and this could have been a much better review.

I regularly go to this store and have noticed the cafe has deteriorate considerably in the last six months. Long wait for food, one staff member serving and making drinks, tables and floors filthy.

Nice staff and food is decent for the price but what a mess. Cutlery regularly filthy, no napkins, tables uncleared and never cleaned, food spilled on tables and floors not cleaned up (food on floor is a safety issue). Often a 30 to 45 minute wait. Terribly understaffed and poorly managed. The food is good for the price, no complaints there. But sainsburys you really need to clean the place up, it’s unacceptably dirty.

Smaller than other supermarket breakfasts, my wife’s omelette was overcooked and rubber hard. The coffee could have been hotter then it wouldn’t have been cold when the meals arrived.

Quick and good value. Good quality ingredients cooked well. Portion size not as big as Tesco cafe but better quality. Kids ate food without a problem. Clean

the food is well cooked in a clean environment and the chips are a speciality they are delicious, I shop first and then have a snack etc in their restaurant

We frequently come here for breakfast. Excellent menu of healthy breakfast options. We'll cooked and delicious. Very reasonably priced. Good coffee. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

Popped in twice recently for a snack or light lunch. It's a bit like a canteen but good value with friendly staff and enjoyed food

I was not impressed when I visited for a quick lunch. There were no trays available at the start of the queue, and when asked to supply one a member of staff grumpily retrieved one from behind the counter. Although offering a restricted menu of cheap and easily prepared dishes, I still had to wait 40 minutes between ordering my food and it being delivered to my table. They obviously have staffing issues. On the good side - the food is good and reasonably priced once it does arrive.

This cafe has some serious issues. Extremely slow staff on the till resulted in a 20 odd minute wait to order some food. 45 minutes to receive it. We saw others attempting to complain and one couple asking for a refund. No manager in sight to witness the shambles. The food is pretty poor as well. Portions inconsistent, they run out of items on the menu and it’s all thrown on your plate. People are paying good money for this privilege. I think they should get somebody in to run the place properly instead of turning a blind eye and hoping for the best...

Good size store with everything you need for your monthly grocery shop. There is an Argos and as well as a chemist and cafe. They also have the smart shop system which means I never stand in a queue to pay!!

This is the fist time we’ve visited the cafe since it’s relocation on completion of the major store refurbishment a few years back. It’s hidden away on a mezzanine floor with access via stairs or lift to left of store entrance. It was quite empty on the midweek lunchtime we visited and that’s probably due to it’s location with most customers not realising where it is (or even if it’s there) - to us this is a bonus as most store cafes are rammed, especially lunch times. There was only a short queue to get served and there’s a wide expanse of seating, either at cafeteria type tables or on more comfortable chairs (but with a lot of much lower tables) - also a few booths. Items not immediately available (including cooked food) are paid for and table served - this should speed up the queue but till staff seemed to take their time (drag their feet??) and it was all very mechanical - how about a cheery smile or greeting! Prices are extremely reasonable in my opinion and servings plentiful, although menu is not extensive. Tables are supposed to be “self cleared” by customers but I noticed many didn’t bother.

Food and drinks are generally good but they should have more stuff because tables are usually dirty and the place looks a mess. Plus it takes a lot of time for the food to come to the table.

Went for breakfast. Excellent choice on menu. The smashed avocado and smoked salmon was a real treat. Flat white coffee was good. Staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely pop in for breakfast again.

I usually do some add-on shopping in this large Sainsbury and have lunch here regularly. Food is no frills and not expensive, but it is nothing to shout about. Parking is usually adequate.

Lunch..We were told that the good would take 20 minutes... 45 minutes later, we were wondering why we did not go to our local for the same price, a proper service and a much better hygiene... Will not come back.

We went here and have been before. It used to be ok but dissapointed us on our last visit for breakfast.

My daughter in law, toddler grandchild and I went in here on Saturday 3 March. There were no hot meals available due to "technical issues". There was nonetheless a queue of people waiting to pay, as the cashier was painfully slow and the second till was not manned. No other member of staff was available to readily communicate with, so I called out to catch someone's attention and I asked if they were still able to toast the toastie sandwiches. They could, but when we got to the till there was no-one around to do so, so when the same chap came over to correct an error on the till I again had to proactively ask if he would toast them. I saw him putting them in the grill and we went off to our table with a number. Some time later neither the toasties or the hot drink had arrived, so I went up to the counter. We hadn't been told that we needed to collect our hot drink, which was waiting there, and I asked when we'd get the toasties, which I could see were still in the grill. The (different) assistant was very unenthusiastic when I asked her if I could have them, which I did because clearly no-one was taking responsibility for bringing them to us. After a couple of requests she seemingly grudgingly put the toasties on plates. I asked how long we'd have waited for them if I hadn't come up and asked for them and she didn't reply. As I walked away with the very unappetising looking food, she said "Have a nice meal", which, considering her attitude, I didn't feel could have been sincere! The food was barely warm by now and very disappointing. I was describing this to a friend (Sainsbury's please note that people pass on negative experiences more readily than positive ones) and they said that they'd twice had a similar experience with toasted food there and agreed that there seems to be no structure in place for processing the orders and getting the food out to the customer efficiently.

I go to this Sainsbury’s everyday and I can’t thin of anything it doesn’t have! Although it’s big it has a very wide range of stock along with a tutoring business, dentist and cafe!

This is a big, canteen-style supermarket restaurant. There appears to be an absence of any coherent system of working.

Sainsbury's has always thought it is pretty special and this branch does not break this trend. The staff are uniformly unhelpful, rude and arrogant.

We often come here for a pre shop breakfast and this time the food was well cooked. Yes its a cafe but spacious and quick with papers to read and better cooked food than many cafes in the area. Eggs perfect. Reasonable quality sausages and bacon. Real bread toast etc.

Well it's not easy to come up with a poetic title about chips! So back to the plot:

It's your average supermarket cafe, the food is as you would expect - some items are really very nice, some are pretty horrible. It's the service that is completely random, some days the staff are fantastic, friendly and efficient, other days they are rude, unhelpful and you get told it's a 30 minute wait for hot food (despite the place being half empty).

Asked for a jacket potato with tuna. Jacket was luke. Reported to service and she asked what I wanted her to do about it. I suggested it could be heated up, this was duly done but tuna was left in jacket and served hot as well. This was left as it was inedible.

Very inviting, as you look up to the balcony and see people enjoying a coffee and a chat, you feel you want to share their enjoyment, so you take the lift, or climb the stairs, it is a large but inviting space and usually plenty of empty tables. I think the word that sums the experiance well is "variable" never bad, but sometimes a little dissapointing comparing it to your last visit. It is important to say that it is truly never bad, but they seem to have good and bad days in terms of service and food, I will return again and again, but look forward to the day they replace the word "variable" with "consistency"

The 5yo attends a tuition centre for an hour twice a week and we're almost ten miles from home so I am forced to sit in the adjacent cafe, drink tea and read books on my Nexus while eating toasted and buttered banana bread!

I've just dropped in for a quick lunch snack. About 20% of tables occupied and then told there is a half hour delay in food service "due to us being very busy"???

Just popped in for a cuppa and to enjoy a toasted tea cake. Tea was ok but the tea cake was absolutely horrible. I'm used to my tea cakes being round, full of fruit and tasty. These were oblong, hard and very doughy. In fact in the end I gave up eating them. Cafe is ok otherwise and when I go back I won't be having the tea cake that's for sure :(

On Sunday 7thMay I visited your restaurant at 1.00 pm I ordered a roast dinner (chicken) advertised as chicken breast which was sliced reconstructed chicken, roast potatoes that should have been crisp and golden brown not white the cauliflower cheese didn't was missed off the dish even though it was advertised as part of the meal. Making this matter even more disappointing it took over 30 minutes to arrive. Will not be going again on a Sunday.

If you don't want a huge cooked breakfast, opt for the Junior Breakfast - excellent value and very tasty. Fried egg, sausage, baked beans, hash brown and a slice of toast; all cooked very quickly and served piping hot. .

Eat here again just now and very friendly, polite staff and Ham eggs & chips great at £5! Nicely cooked and presented

Went to Sainsbury's hoping for a bit of a nice experience. It was not bad. But it wasn't sensational. Traditional fare on offer like fish and chips, curry, sandwiches etc. I had ham, egg and chips. Which was nice but that's it. Coffee took ages to come cos the staff were busy with milk shakes. Would I come again. Probably not

Nice food and easy to order. Ideal for something to eat before or after doing the weekly shop. Great location and friendly staff.

This basic supermarket cafe rarely fails to deliver on good value, no-nonsense food. The 'big breakfast' (with extras, if you wish) is highly recommended.

I guess I was unlucky. The day I visited they said they had a kitchen fault so a large number of items were off the menu. I ordered the fish and chips which took ages to arrive (3 people after me all ordered the same and got theirs first!) very shy staff eventually brought my meal over and had no explanation. The batter was over cooked and greasy the fish inside however was tasty. A cheap place to eat but don't go if you are in a hurry!

I had a very reasonably priced Friday special fish and chips for £4.50. It came out after a reasonable delay piping hot. The fish was very tasty and the batter was crisp. However, all afternoon I kept getting a repeat from the batter which was obviously due to the fat/grease used. The mushy peas were also a peculiar halfway house between what I would call mushy and garden peas. The wife's cottage pie was ok but given the fresh veg on sale in the store you would have thought they would have done better than tinned carrots.

We have often had breakfast, a quick snack and lunch at the restaurant. We have always found the food appealing and a good choice of menu.

Staff realy friendly.Tables cleared and cleaned frequently.Food is reasonably priced and good value.Special of the day lasagna with salad just £4.00 great ! Just right for a quick meal or snack whilst shopping.

Have eaten here on many occasions and have always found the food and service very good. The Butternut Squash Lasagne is always good and plentiful with a good salad. The Fish and Chips can be a bit hit and miss on the way the fish is cooked but I think that is down to the individual cooking it, but in general always excellent value for money.

The staff are wonderful in this sainsburys restaurant . Always smiling and happy to help. Keep up the good work

It's incredible to think this was the best that Sainsburys could come up with when they refurbished the store.

This is great for a quick Breakfast (and sausages are OK!), Lunch or snack while shopping. Being upstairs it is away from most of the noise of the shop and has a lift if disabled or with a buggy etc.
