I attended the Newcastle Underlyme petrol station store on 10.7.24 at approx 6pm to fill my car with fuel. I was using the unleaded petrol pump which I could only press very lightly as it continuously clicked suggesting that my car was full despite the tank being empty. For this reason, it took me a while to fill my car up. I thought it was best to aim for £40 fuel as usually my car is completely full on £45 as I only drive a small Toyota Aygo. To my shock the fuel squirted out at me and covered my hands and my dress making a pool of petrol on the floor where I was stood - my car was full on £35 worth of fuel but the meter said £37. I looked at the ground and went into the kiosk to pay for the fuel explaining that the pump was clearly faulty, the mess on the floor and explaining that I would be grateful if they would only charge me for £35 and not £37 given that the pump had given me no warning and had clicked throughout and how long it had obviously taken me to fill my car up. The man behind the counter, Edward, appeared to understand this at first suggesting that I use the hand sanitizer to clean my hands - I thanked him. When returning to the desk he tried to charge me the full £37 and I asked if because of the pump being faulty and what had happened, if he could round that down to £35. Edward changed and told me that my suggestion is awful and is illegal and was very rude towards me. I found this incredibly embarrassing in front of other customers and a colleague of Edward that seemed to be a similar age to me. Edward went on to tell me that it’s a criminal offence. I then asked if I could speak to his supervisor as I found it out of order given the circumstances with how he was being and how he was adamant that I should pay the full amount. Edward rang his manager, Andy, and made out on the call to Andy that I had caused a big mess and simply wouldn’t pay for fuel. This made me feel belittled and I started to cry. He then turned to his colleague, Kyle, to ask his opinion. Kyle explained that he would’ve only charged me the £35 given that that pump is KNOWN for being faulty on smaller cars. Kyle then resolved the issue and was very caring and apologetic. Edward was incredibly rude and dismissive of me, he gave no apology, and was very quick to leave work in a rush as his shift had no ended, not caring about how he had made me feel and how upset he had visibly made me. Edward should not be in a customer facing role - this became very clear to me. Please somebody speak with Edward as this is disgusting behaviour.

Two weeks ru ning terrible service on self checkouts. I bought wine one lady wearing a scarf refused to serve me wine and made me feel bad waving her arms. This week one staff on she walked straight past me to check a whole trolley full of food then took a security tag off another. I asked staff if there was anyone she said no. Then one came and went to another person. I waited 15 minutes for a 5sec job. Going elsewhere in future.

I’ve been to this store numerous times and every time I’ve had horrendous encounters with staff. My most recent was with a member of staff named Amanda Jane and she was just horrible to myself and my partner. Needless to say we won’t be returning.

I have used this store for years and the staff are generally good but today after going through the checkout process the rude lady says pull your mask up,I pulled it down slightly as my face was so hot and I said to her" one second my face is red hot I'll do it in a min" to which she rudely replied" you'll do it now' to which I replied as I was going" no luv I'll do it in a min" she then started gossiping about it with the next till about me. I don't go shopping to be insulted and because you can't ring them directly I shall go the store on Monday and complain in person. Worst is while I'm standing waiting for her to put my shopping through she is passing her friends goods to her from behind her till instead of doing her job and serving me. Best of all I don't have to wear a mask but do so of my own volition. Very very rude but I won't leave it.

I have been shopping at Sainsburys’ in Newcastle-under-Lyme for some 12 years and this is the second time I have been ordered around by over-zealous staff at the store. At about 14.20 pm, I braved the walk to Sainsbury's even though the weather was anything but clement. When approaching the near entrance/exit I heard the security person dismiss a customer for raising a concern and I was then instructed to walk around a barrier by this person. This store repeatedly changes the entrance and exits which is confusing the customer, the last time I visited, I could only enter and exit on the other side. Apprehensive at this, another customer slowed down in front of me because they knew one of the store staff outside and began talking to them, I then slowed myself, being cognisant of social distancing; to which the security person ordered me to keep two metres apart. I told this person they were being over-zealous because I was two metres apart. There was then a disagreement which culminated in the security person saying: "One more word out of you and I will ask you to leave the store". I then left the store of my own volition. It appears that some staff are revelling in their new-found power that enables them to order people around. On the way out, the security person in question refused to give me their name or any details when I stated I was going to make a complaint. I have requested Sainsbury's CEO Mike Coupe explain their policy regarding this. Sainsbury's in general have never received such bad press. Seems they can now do what they like with their new-found 'Pandemic Clout'. After all, we have to eat don't we?

We have ate in this cafe quite a few times over the years. We have highlighted problems with staff understanding of allergens to the manager and recommended some basic training. However the message hasnt got through and cafe staff have little or no understanding of the impact.of allergens to some people. Communication between cashier, kitchen staff and serving staff is very very poor. This is an accident waiting to happen. Come on managers sort this out. It isnt rocket science.

Went today at approx 12 noon. The carpark was very almost full. The store itself is falling apart, signs are peeling off the walls, the stairs are dangerous and taped down, the lift often breaks. There are often not enough staff on the checkouts and prices are much higher than the other supermarkets.

The Saturday lunch meal that I selected was very tasty, although the wait from ordering to serving was longer than I expected for a straightforward and simple meal. Tables were cleared reasonably quickly. The venue would benefit from a larger choice of soft drinks.

Arriving for a late lunch on a Saturday, I found the cafe quite busy, and ordered ham, eggs and chips plus a bottle of cranberry and lime drink. The food was served promptly, and was delicious. the drink too was very pleasant; disappointingly it is only available at the cafe, not to buy in the shop. I saved 45% of the cost of the meal by refuelling at the competitively priced filling station, when compared to my usual supermarket. .

I usually go for breakfast here as the meatfree breakfast is good value and fresh. They only serve breakfast until 11.30, and as long as you order by then it's fine. Recently the standards have slipped; the toast was buttered warmed bread, the sausages tough and shriveled up, and the eggs half done. It was too late to cancel, so we ate and left.

I took my mum shopping here yesterday and we decided to stop for some lunch. We both had an omelette, one with salad and the other chips, and they were possibly the worst we've both ever had. The portion size was good but the salad was limp and leaves were going brown in places. As for the omelette it was rubbery with a sort of chewy crust. I think it was a pre-prepared one that had been put in the microwave, certainly not fresh or homemade. The drinks were hot but served in crockery that looked about 20 years old. Even some of the cutlery still had food on it.

Introduced to this cafe by two colleagues. Good quality coffee at only £1.45 and 2 Staffordshire Oatcakes with Cheese for only £1.40. Also recommend the Toasted Teacake that comes with Lurpak butter. The food is always freshly prepared and the staff are friendly. Definitely a reason to shop in the Sainsburys store.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel the low ratings for this wonderful family-run soft play are completely unfair. As a local, I visit regularly with my three children, and we always look forward to the delicious homemade cheesecake—it’s my favorite! The food is great quality and excellent value, and my kids absolutely love the experience. It can get a bit crowded, especially during parties, but they’re incredibly affordable, and the kids have a fantastic time. The person mentioned in past reviews is no longer involved in the business. It’s now run by two brothers, one of whom manages the place and offers outstanding customer service. Some of the soft play could use a little TLC, but in my opinion, they’re perfectly safe. Despite the small space, the variety of activities available is exceptional. It’s affordable prices great staff and reasonable prices, mean that it’s a godsend for me and my family.
