Sainsburys in Northampton

The wait for food over an hour, only 2 staff on, clearly struggling to manage fulfilling the orders. Cafe wasn't even busy

Never disappoints - excellent quality food at a reasonable price. Always plenty of room in the cafe and it’s kept very clean. There’s also free water.

Awful! Staff got the wrong order. When asked we’re very rude, said they would rectify it but didn’t. Tone and manners just rude. Food ok but basic. Dirty tables with used tissues on the seats.

What has happened to this store? I popped in to do some shopping and found the shelves in the meat aisle in the most filthy condition, clearly not having been cleaned in a long while. Meat products being stocked on dirty shelving. The fresh produce aisles were no better, the floors were very dirty with ground in and built up dirt. Produce under the shelving units. The edges of the floors were very dirty showing they had not been properly cleaned in some time. This was built up dirt and not a busy day. It was also midday. I have not seen such a disgusting shop in years. I refused to buy any food products in those areas considering to sheer amount of dirt they were sitting on. WE visited this shop several times store was always well stocked and clean. Staff were friendly and prices reasonable.

A large sainsburys store with food, clothes and a Argos in store. Parking is free for two hours. Not much else to say.

My wife and I were shopping in store on December 28th and I decided to buy two take out mochas. The gentleman behind the till was very pleasant but oh dear the mocha was really poor. It just tasted of weak hot chocolate with no hint of coffee. Total waste of £4.80. There was a bit of a queue at 9.30 and as there was only one person serving be prepared for a wait.

Coffee very good and Belgian bun superb. Queue a little slow in moving so do not visit if in a hurry. Costa coffee in the garage a better faster bet,

Popped in for a pre shop cuppa and was disgusted by the state of the floor, the spilt drink had actually dried so could have been there hours, two other tables also had food and spillages under them, the place was not even busy, told a member of staff who said they were missing a cleaner.will not be back in a hurry.

Service was good and friendly. The food was hot and fresh with very most reasonable pricing. The restaurant was clean and staff neatly turned out. Where we were seated if you are of larger proportions you might feel a bit squeezed but nothing serious.All in all a very nice lunch time visit and will call again.

I've visited many times for breakfast lunch or sometimes just a coffee and it appears that they are either under staffed or disorganised. Your always safe to go early for breakfast but if you are going for lunch or later I can pretty much guarantee that the tables will not be cleared or cleaned for ages. Yes it's a popular cafe to pop into and they do get busy but it is off putting when dirty trays of plates etc.. and food thats been dropped is left. Having said that the food is tasty and is generally reasonable value it is a nicer experience if you go at off peak times.

great fish and chips .Had brussels once but they had the consistency of mash potato.Looks like the cafe needs renovation ,getting tatty.But we go once a week

Went for a coffee and a toasted tea cake with my husband before starting shopping. I placed my order and after a bit of confusion the waiter understood what I wanted. He gave me a number and to,d me he would bring the drinks and food. After 20mins several people in the cafe was getting fed up waiting. After comp,aiming one brought a toasted teacake then got told that was all I had ordered. I didn’t get a reciept (my own fault). As it was a different person I explained what had happened keeping my frustration under control. He gave us two drink and ordered another tea cake. Some people went and got their money back. A couple who was before us got to,d they didn’t have what they had ordered bear in mind this is 30 mins later. They got their money back and left to say there was 4 staff on three stood about and one working. It was caous. I will never eat in that cafe again. It put me right off, normally it’s very good, quite slick without a problem. When you get incompetent people that’s what happens Caous.

Nice seating area and some decent meals/drinks but a little overpriced and very understaffed at busy times. We are in there after shopping at least once a week and find it hard to take a trolley in since they removed the trolley bays, they often run out of crockery, tea pots, milk jugs etc as there are not enough staff to clean the tables and get the used crockery into the dishwasher on a regular basis.

This super market used to be good ! But it’s really bad now , always moving items and they are cutting back on people on the tills so there are long queues even when it’s not that busy

Go here to treat little one with lunch on weekend after shop, decent choice on offer and good value kids bag with healthy options too (fruit etc). Nice cream tea as well!

I love shopping at Sainsbury. Especially the clothing department when there is 25 per cent off. The choice of food in the restaurant is very good.

After a very bad experience last summer we went today. Vast improvement on last year, the lads serving the tables did a great job, and were a credit to the store. Friendly, accommodating, very efficient, and a great attitude. Foods was hot and good quality.

I popped in with family for a quick shop and hot drinks before our drives home.

Even when the staff are run off their feet they still manage a smile. The food is good too. Found the quality of the fish and chips excellent

I had to rate it with four stars as three is a little unfair. For a supermarket cafe it is actually pretty good. Food IS average but fresh and presented as well as can be, soup is very good and coffee acceptable so all in all the best of the bunch. There are calories on the menus and lots of healthier options, It's quite big so always easy to get a table. They will also substitute things like bread instead of rolls and although sometimes a little slow with the service, they are at least polite and smile. I have had no problems so far. So as I said it is rated very good for 'what it is' but if you found a good independent cafe charging twice as much it would probably be far superior. If nipping in for a quick, economical lunch or coffee with friend then it is just fine!

Visited on Saturday just gone on way from train station to football ground, having passed three closed traditional fish and chip shops. It was lunch time, what’s wrong with this town!

Second time I've visited prior to watching Bristol Rovers away at Sixfields. As before, the meal was good quality & value and the staff friendly.

I've visited a few times lately and had breakfast and I have to say it's consistently good, it's never going to rock the world but it's clean, staff are friendly and you know what you are getting. Plenty of seating and a good range of food for a good price

Sólo dos camareros y uno que sirve las comidas NO personal aclarando así mesas donde amontonando con vajilla sucia y si eso no era tan malo el asado estaba tibia en el mejor de los casos. Toda la experiencia fue pésima y nos dejó decepción mal.

Visité una tarde de domingo aquí para comprar una tarjeta y flores para mi hermana después de que ella me dijo que iba a ser una tía! Escogí la tarjeta perfecta, sin embargo, cada ramo de flores fue 3 días caducadas. Un montón de rosas eran particular crujientes, que eran viejos! No creo que volveremos en el futuro.

Una tarde de compras decidimos comer allí. IDEA incorrecta. El servicio estaba bien por debajo de la media, así como la comida.

Good food nicely presented, plesent staff my husband loves there fish and chips never had to complain about anything .

...in general... The cafe does not look appealing and is not somewhere I would want to stay long. The food looked chucked together on the plate but was nice and good value. I guess it makes for an ideal meeting point but not much else.

Convenient to have a light lunch, small standard menu, staff friendly all served at a reasonable price with car parking.

We always shop here apart from our cleaning materials. The food is generally good and the Taste the Difference selections are on par with M&S and Waitrose.

Ordered a big breakfast ,toast was soggy ,and the sausage s did not look cooked but they were cooked but looked like had just come out of the packet.

A big surprise how good the food is ! Wish I had more time to shop ! Browse ! And have a good three course lunch !!but parking time doesn't give us enough time .....

been twice in a week for early christmas dinners. Greedy? maybe.... very nice meals will be back again no doubt

Sadly what used to be good is suffering from poor training or staff shortage. Clearing up is slow. Self clear station full so customers using nearby tables. Cake and coffee took 15 minutes. Food ok but there service has let them down. Customers served out of order. Unpleasant experience.

This Sainsburys store is in a good location, it has a double decked car park, a large refuelling facility, and is usually well staffed at key times.The store is large and always clean and well presented, and aisles tend to be kept clear of cages, pallets and such unless a member of staff is presentThe staff are polite and happy and quick to assist.Good shopping experience here for me.Tom KeyesNorthampton

I was not impressed by the quality of service, but on reflection, it was good compared to the food.. The food was luke warm and had very little taste.

I decided to have my dinner at Sainsbury's. As I was making my way back home , after work. As soon as I walked in, a friendly welcome was given when I placed my food order. There was much to chose from the menu & all reasonably priced. The tables were clean & I didn't wait long for my fish & chip. The fish was creamy & the chip were how I liked them. Thank you Sainsbury's . since I've been coming here, you have never failed me in giving a good service.

First time to Weedon Road Sainsburys and was really impressed. Lots of parking, patrol station and cafe if needed. The store had everything I wanted and the staff were really friendly.Great selection of chilled lagers by the food to go counter which I thought was a fantastic idea.

The fish and chips are my favourite meal with a cup of Sainsbury Red label tea. The restaurant is clean and the service is second to none.

Come here this morning with my partner and he loved his so much! So would highly recommend the all day brunch. It's just a normal cafe in all honesty. Customer service from a young waiter was amazing.

Popped in as my son needing feeding, lots of space to Sit, comfy sofas and nice choice of food and drinks.Staff were polite and friendly :)

My wife and I have been regulars here for years. Has a good choice of hot food and snacks all at reasonable prices. However it seems to be in decline. Usually understaffed now with long queues. Had the odd poor meal in the past but it is now common - overcooked/reheated/greasy being regular problems. Chilled display often in need of refilling. It would seem staff cuts have been made in this area, but at a price. However I must add the staff are pleasant, hard working and clearly trying to do their best in difficult circumstances.

We have been here three or four times for breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning, the food has always been good and the service is quick.

Used this Sainsburys cafe for breakfast whilst staying at nearby Travelodge.Breakfast was hot, well presented and good value.This is basically an in-store cafe, we didn't expect much but were pleasently surprised at the food quality and price.

we went to the cafe today for tea and a bacon sandwich. The tables were dirty and the sandwiches when they arrived were on stale dry bread and the bacon was cold. On complaining to a member of staff he took them away and brought replacements which were no better. The lid on my teapot was chipped as well. All in all a very disappointing visit and one i will never repeat.

The cafe on the top floor of Sainsbury's is wonderful. They do lovely fish and chips and a great full English. Not too pricey and there's somewhere to leave your trolley.

Charges extra for the privilege of a gluten free roll with their not gluten free soup. Extremely slow service, bad attitude of staff and no gluten free options other than jacket potato, watery tomato soup or overpriced cakes. Quite possibly the worst allergy friendly cafe in town.

I appreciate that this is a supermarket cafe - they offer traditional meals at a reasonable price and it is good value.However it never ceases to amaze me how slow and poor the service is - there are routinely long queues and if someone in front dares to order more than one hot drink then you know you are in for an additional ten minute wait. There only ever appears to be one member of staff serving on a till (who seems to have had a personality transplant) and the wait for food can also be particularly long at times.Most other supermarket cafes also tend to offer free wifi these days which is absent here. Others' also offer free kids meals or incentives at certain times which is also lacking.

i visited sainsburys cafe sixfields fast service .i ordered jacket potato prawns good service got lovely meal in less than four minutes and had coughing fit halfway through and got asked if ok and even given glass of water!! what service for a supermarket cafe .shall return. x

I took my children here after the cinema for a drink & some cake in their café for a quick shop, good service & nice food.The children enjoyed their cake, as did I with my pot of earl grey tea.Carole : )

Tried fish and chips with mushy peas on a Friday, and bearing in mind the cost.... it was very good. As with most of these in store restaurants - clean, good service and certainly meant that i didn't need to do any cooking after shopping. Will do it again

Good service, fair range of dishes both hot and cold, plus plenty of snacks.Latte very good. Free papers to look at whilst eating and plenty of seating available overlooking the shop floor. Can get very busy between 12 noon and 2 o'clock.

Plenty of parking, although the entrance can be a little hectic at times!The cafe is nice, clothing range is good & it's a nice store layout for groceries.Carole : )

One of the better supermarkets in Northampton, although the new and 'improved' store is now a complete eyesore. Not bad once inside, and definitely better than TossCO, Sainsbury`s even have a few members of staff that are polite, helpful, and can count beyond their fingers....... Cafe not bad, but nothing spectacular, but again, better than the local competition.

Very large supermarket with petrol station. Lots of parking now it's on two levels. Does what it says on the tin - which Sainsbury's sell a lot of.

Cheap and cheerful place for lunch! Come here regularly for lunch and also when shopping with the kids . Customer service is good

This cafe is pretty standard for a supermarket cafe. The cappuccino is nice as long as you don't have a favoured syrup in it (they are not nice and I have tried all of them), they recently upgraded their cups to make them more trendy. The food is basic cafe and not great, the only thing worth getting is a lemon and poppy seed muffin - these are the best ones in town better than muffin break or costa etc. The tables are often untidy and not cleared very quickly, and they don't appear to have enough staff during busier periods, but it is ok for a quick stop in between shopping.

Great shop that is well run and organised . The staff are very friendly and chatty. I wish all supermarkets could be so friendly.

I didn't realise that the store was closing until the announcement was made. At which point I went to the checkout. I queued longer than I was in the store shopping. All the checkout staff closed their tills and there were only 4 open. I had too much for the self checkout. My own fault for arriving in store late on a Sunday, but not the experience I expected. Disappointed.

I didn't shop in Sainsbury until I moved to Duston. This place is huge and has some great deals. I often pop in to pick up a few bits. The staff are always very helpful. The coffee shop is lovely too!!

The new layout and bigger store have made a huge improvement to the experience, the staff are friendly and the food is good.

Sainsbury's has had a facelift. More parking space, new, clean and with a bigger feel. The only problem I have with the store is that traffic coming in and leaving can be quite heavy at rush hour (as is often the case with supermarkets, especially at rush hour). I like that the car park has two stories, so when it's raining you can park on the ground floor and be sheltered from the rain.

Bright and clean. Big since the recent expansion. Normally in stock, great choice and friendly staff. Auto checkout a bonus. Undercover parking is also very useful.

Quite good choice of simple food, service is fast and staff pleasant. All good value and do a nice value-for-money fish and chips. Plain simple unpretentious - ideal for a quick cheap meal.

We have all been there, Sunday and 100 miles from home after a motorway trip. It is time for a late lunch and the motorway food is so expensive. Therefore stop at Sainsburys and visit the cafe. It is clean and tidy (it has been open for 4 hours) and the staff are attentive and helpful. We order two fish and chips plus hot drinks. Total bill is £12 therefore good value when compared to the motorway. It was simple plain eating but reasonable food nonetheless.
