This has really gone downhill in recent times - once our supermarket of choice for a pre-shopping breakfast but not any more. Despite the fact that it had only just opened for the day, we struggled to find a clean table with most covered in crumbs and other food debris and remnants of the previous day's newspapers scattered across windowsills. The big breakfast were particularly disappointing for the £8 charge - limp bacon, watery scrambled egg, soggy hash browns and toast that was so anaemic it was probably made using the light of someone's phone. And considering the fifteen minute wait, none of it was particularly hot. Additionally, the soft-drink machine only seemed to be dispensing room temperature, barely fizzy drinks. Will definitely be trying somewhere else next time.

Visited the restaurant at Sainsbury's Newport today with family. Very disappointed with the adult meals. The ham was very poor quality, chips were over cooked and not very nice at all. Worst of all were the two cold fried eggs. When I asked a staff member for freshly cooked eggs as ours were cold. She was not very polite, our meal went back and the eggs were slightly better., Today's standard was well below what's acceptable. Will think twice before eating there again.

Three of us went for lunch today. Myself, my daughter and son in law. My daughter had her toasted sandwich an hour and twenty minutes before the other two meals arrived, my son in law had fish and chips and I had an all day breakfast - both meals were not very warm and the egg was overcooked whilst the bacon was practically raw. Items not available were sourdough bread, mushrooms, white bread and mayonnaise. This was lunchtime! There was no knife or fork available during the whole time we waited, and three times we asked for them, being told they were in the dishwasher... eventually my son in law went to the kitchen to ask again. We felt that although the staff were pleasant enough they couldn't have cared less and customer service was non existent. Will not be visiting again, as this is not our first negative experience in your coffee shop. Future customers - AVOID!!!

Came here for lunch, ended up waiting for dinner. We were waiting for food for over an hour (they did tell us there would be a 30 minute wait). When we finally got our food, the eggs were overcooked, and they gave us mash instead of chips. We sent them back thinking it would take about 5 minutes but we ended up leaving before we got our food back. The shop is lovely but the café, not so much.

Really poor quality food, I ordered a jacket potato with tuna mayo and side salad. The cost was nearly £6, the potato when it finally arrived was the size of a tennis ball and the tuna mayo was 90% mayonnaise and was just fishy slop. The side salad was some lettuce, which isn't a salad it's just lettuce leaves. I absolutely wouldn't visit again, I've eaten at supermarket cafés before and generally they are decent and value for money, Sainsbury's was neither

Order battered cod and chips, chips were not hot, in fact the first one I bit into was practically still frozen, absolute shock to the system. Cod wasn't battered it was in bread crumbs....very dry, good bit of fish inside though. Peas were a little on the cool side aswell. On a positive kids ate free with every adult meal. Not for me though....yes cheap for a family with kids, but you still exspect a basic standard that I felt wasn't reached.

I thought the standards had slipped when visiting today. Lots of tables waiting to be cleaned. Had to ask for cups for the water and cutley. The cutlery came out several mins later and I watched, and commented to the young girl who was transferring the cutlery into the tray. She picked up every item, either by the blade of the knife or prongs of the fork with bare hands!!!!!!! Surely she should of had gloves on, as least, or there needs to be a different way of transferring the cutlery from one container to another. I guess the first container was one used in the dish washer. I am left totally shocked that this is acceptable practice Sainsburys. Especially after we have just recovered from two years in lock down following Covid. I am keen to hear your thoughts regarding this matter.

Stopped here for breakfast this morning, Bite Size Breakfast, all but the toast was cold. The Seeded toast is lovely, hot with plenty of butter. Sausage, fried egg, hash brown and beans, all cold. How difficult can it be for the staff to send out hot food, poor show.

Come here especially for this Bread which I find absolutely fabulously tasty, Unfortunately I'm at the end of my tether and extremely frustrated with the staff responsible for the wrapping this product and all similar products. Despite several protestations all of which seems to have fallen on deaf ears! the tying of nots in the plastic bag in such a way as to make it impossible to access the contents without destroying the bag!!

Called in during a shopping trip. Told by staff (who appeared to be hoping we would just go away) that there was a 30 minute wait. Tables dirty, and i had to really rummage to find some 'clean 'cutlery in the box - most of it was unusable. No vegetarian main available which meant I couldn't take advantage of the 'child eats free' offer. Food of a poor standard when it eventually arrived. I would've given up and left if I didn't have a hangry 4yr old with me. Nm. Lesson learned.

My daughter and I popped into the cafe today whilst shopping in the store. We only wanted a light snack so ordered a panini (already prepared- just needed heating) and 2 coffees. None of the tables were cleared so we cleared and wiped it down ourselves. After a 25 minute wait for our panini’s to be heated up, I asked a member of staff how much longer I would have to wait! I was greeted with a grunt and told there’s a 30 minute wait! I advised I hadn’t been told this and found it odd as it was literally to toast a panini which takes minutes! The lady grunted again and walked off. She returned 5 minutes later with the panini’s, no apology was made! Very disappointing, definately not worth the money for an average snack with poor service!

Plenty of parking at the large Sainsburys in Newport. Located through the main door and on the left along with the toilets. Toilets were clean and well maintained. We opted for jacket potatoes. Reasonably when priced against spoons and cheaper than Spud u like but definitely a smaller portion but free side salad. Approximately 20 minute wait on a Saturday so not that bad as originally told 30 minutes. Staff were friendly but busy. Mistake on my jacket with no cheese on my beans. All in all a nice little restaurant with good coffee. I would recommend.

Went into the cafe this morning and ordered a cooked breakfast with no hash browns. The "waitress" brought the breakfast to the table and leaned over and plonked it down in front of me, the egg had broken right up to the edge of the plate. There was no toast with the breakfast, and hash browns. I asked her to take it back. My hubby who was with me had not received his meal at this point. no explanation was given why. The next breakfast came for me, the bacon on the two pieces of bacon was only cooked on one side, the baked beans had been placed in a small dish and had "run" over the sides and was stuck down. I just felt I was being short changed by Sainsburys, and was upset extremely upset about it. I went to the counter and spoke to a lady there and she looked at my meal which I told her was unacceptable, and she took it away. She said she would replace it once again which came with toast and no hash browns. By this time I had had enough and only ate half the eggs and the bacon. I was given my £6 back though, but I will not eat there again. They really need to change the chef or the cook and up their training on the waiting staff.

Popular but it is what it is. Food is mostly processed food microwaved and a lot goes in the deep fryer. If you order a hot drink the chances are you will have finished before your food arrives or else now you’ll have a cold drink to accompany your meal.

Visited Sainsburys for a breakfast early one Sunday morning. A sign displayed, said that all meals were freshly prepared.I ordered 2 breakfasts,1 with black pudding and 2 teas. Tea was served by the pot, accompanied by very small cups and saucers. Cups were both chipped, took them back and asked for mugs instead,as most of the cups looked old and battered. We sat down near the window and waited for our "freshly cooked breakfast". While waiting,I couldn't help but noticed the grubby windowsill area. We had arrived quite early,so it was obvious that these surfaces were not cleaned regularly, and definitely not the last couple of days prior to our arrival. Well, breakfasts came...definitely NOT freshly prepared. The bacon was very dry and overcooked, also the sausages were hard, due being cooked and then reheated to put on plates. Egg was overcooked, bread was the cheapest they cook find. Tea,was made with tasteless tea bags.Needless to say we didn't finish our meals. This cost over £12. I would not recommend anyone eat here, wish I went to Wetherspoons!!

We had stayed in a local hotel where breakfast wasn't on offer, Sainsbury's doesn't seem to fail for breakfast for us. Bite Size breakfast, Nice portion for small appetite. Great coffee. Friendly staff, great service. Trying to get to the store however, on the mini roadabout the store is sign posted, don't go off the main junction before which looks like it goes to the store but doesn't!! Keep on the roadabout until you see the sign.

This is like a posh cafe adjacent to the huge main Sainsbury’s hyper-supermarket. We had nice pots of tea and posh cakes! You buy and pay and they bring the food out to you, we ordered a cooked breakfast and it was a 20 minute wait which i suppose isn’t so bad. Meanwhile check out the strawberry tart I mean how lush is that !!! Food was really nice and good prices too!!

We always shop in the store but the tea is awful. Its cold in two mins we have complained so many times. The food is okay but really they should evaluate the standard of food they are now putting out as l had tomato soup the other week and it was so thick my spoon stood up in it. I left a note telling the chef to go back and learn how to make it straight from the packet. I mean where can you go wrong if you are reheating the food.

Used to eat here regularly, but recently in the last few months it's gone majorly downhill. Breakfast seems to be just chucked on the plate without any thought to how it's presented, before if you ordered 4 breakfasts they would all look identical, now it's just thrown on the plate willy nilly with a greasy, over cooked egg and warm buttered bread that is meant to be toast!Dinner time meals do not fair any better either, if you're unfortunate to order the curry you will end up with odd sized nan bread which you'll have to dig from under the curry. They're obsessed with the sauces! You'll get them with your meal but after about 5 minutes they'll ask for them back! Woebetide if you want more sauce! Seems to be a problem with staffing levels or some staff skivving off leaving the others to do the work, a few times I've been there and there's a little blonde cafe worker sat with 2 young guys ( all from the café one assumes as they too have the orange hats ) all the other staff are running around like mad while they take it easy, oh and it seems their own store staff get priority over customers, while us customers have to wait for 30 minutes for food, they'll get there's almost straight away. So much for putting customers 1st.

I'm not sure who exactly does the cooking breakfast time but they need to be shown how to cook! The mushrooms look like they've been boiled for a minute then plated, the bread is just shown the toaster and you end up with buttered warm bread, eggs are hard boiled and never runny yolked, you see where I'm going with this. The staff are nice and friendly but the service is terrible, there's always a long queue and 1 member of staff serving. So, more staff needed at the till and please get someone who can actually cook!
