Five of us had afternoon tea at the Harbour loft for a family members birthday trip out last October. The staff were excellent. They were quick, attentive and very accommodating to our groups varying allergen (mustard, pineapple) and dietary needs (gluten free, lactose free, vegetarian, pescatarian). The gluten free vegan scones were delicious, and it was nice to be given allergen free alternatives that were similar to what the other party members ate. Everyone enjoyed what they had (whether that be veggie, meat or fish) and said they would love to go back again next time we visit the Mount!

We stopped for a coffee on our way back from the Mount, and were tempted by many more of the attractions on offer. I had the Davidstow Rarebit (a delight) and my wife and son had the cinnamon bun and the millionaire shortbread. We all had either teas or coffees ands the bill came to around £20. The service was incredibly quick. The sweet treats came almost immediately, and my rarebit in no more than 5 minutes. Tables were cleaned just as guests left. The café is in the ‘village’ and accessible from the mainland at low tides and no obligation to visit the castle, though would highly recommend.

After a tour round the mount what more could you want than a bowl of soup and a cheese scone? It was 2pm in December, a crystal clear day with several visitors and the only cafe open on the mount. High tide do a wait for the craft to go back to the mainland. (Captive clientele) Only 1 available soup but no alternative offered, we opted for the Luke warm coffee I’ve been told was served out of a flask. Needless to say - I won’t be dashing back.

We visited the sail loft on Friday the 13th, were given number 13 as our table number.....but we had a great lunch. We were early and I think it would have been slow if we had eaten later. The portions could have been bigger for the cost - but I guess this is to be expected based upon its location. That aside, the views from the windows are good, the seating area large and airy and the staff friendly. Food was tasty too and it was the 13th!!

So bad. Incredibly disorganised, tasteless scones (either no salt was added, or far too little, when making the scones). The jam was tasty but very hard to spread. My mother had the cornish rarebit...it was awful. Oily, tasteless, and the pesto that went with it was nothing but raw garlic. The salad dressing was uninspired and tasteless also. Bad service, actually rude to us a couple of times. Wouldnt recommends, and definitely wouldnt go back unless made better. Boring menu also. Simply not good.

We visited here for late lunch on a visit to St Michaels Mount. Whilst my meal was fine my friend’s was not, it was not what she expected at all and was expensive, plus was served with bread which she was trying to avoid. It left us a little unsure of the place. Service however was very good and it’s a lovely place to sit and look out.

The place is big, they have many tables with lovely views. We had cream team and those were 2nd best scones I’ve ever had! Fresh, soft with slightly crunchy top and they smelled absolutely great. They serve two scones with a hot drink. As we weren’t hungry, we shared cream tea, just ordered extra coffee, and that was enough. The menu is very broad, but everyone will find something nice. The only problem was sticky table, not a very good experience. Definitely will go back, for the scones!

I had been looking forward to a cream tea after exploring the house and gardens, but what I received at the Sail Loft left me thoroughly disappointed. The long queues and the inflated price goes without saying, but you don't mind too much if the food is good. The scone i had been looking forward to, was huge and looked quite appealing, but was really dry and the serving of cream and jam were so small in comparison i had to pay extra for a double serving to cover the scone. As the dry scone was leaving me very thirsty i really needed a nice pot of tea, unfortunately I got a mug of hot water and a tea bag still in its packet!!! Unbelievable. I wondered if they were going to pay me for making it! I realised I would have been far better off getting a takeaway from the ice cream stall next door, at least they would have put the tea bag in the cup! Such a shame at the end of what had been a lovely visit. I think perhaps the National Trust are taking their patrons for granted.

Had a lovely lunch here this week on our visit to the Mount. Our sandwiches were very good, flavoured with herbs and seasoning. Every time we visit, the method of ordering and paying for food is different. At the moment it is a self order counter where you pay up front and then select a table. Don't really like this - it was much better when you could sit down and give your order to one of the girls. This current method means queuing up for quite a long time to order and then wait for it to be delivered. Anyway, the food is lovely so don't let this put you off!

We popped into here for tea and scones, prior to looking around the castle .The scones were big and tasty and two scones were provided for one person. I believe that most people would order one cream tea and order an additional pot of tea for one (With some extra hot water to make a little more tea if required!) and share the scones, which is what we did. Most of the staff were pleasant. However, we encountered an issue with one of the young members of the team having what seemed to be an attitude problem when we highlighted that all the knives on display were dirty. I assumed that the knives may have come straight back out from the kitchen by mistake rather than being washed first as they were covered in cream, jam and other ingredients. When I asked for a knife I was asked to take one of the dirty ones and when I pointed the error out to the young girl, without even looking at the knives, I was spoken to in a rude manor and knives abruptly removed. I then waited a while for the clean knives to come back out before we could eat our scones. The young lady probably didn't realise the error and thought I may have spotted a finger print mark or something like that and thought I was being awkward perhaps? At least that was what my wife and I agreed it could have been. I hope that when she looked in the back kitchen she realised the problem and might think twice before being rude to customers in the future, if being presented with a similar issue or comment.Excluding the small incident, we would return and we would recommend the place. Other peoples food looked very appertising and was well presented. Prices were also reasonable.

Was given a warm welcome upon arrival. However there seemed to be a breakdown in communication between the management and the staff as the latter told me lunch was not served until midday, whereas a woman who seemed to be the manager told me I could order before this time. She was confused and shocked when I told her the staff had told me otherwise. Additionally, the windows between 11 and 12 does not offer full meals but rather just cakes and scones so those in search of an early lunch should look elsewhere. However the food arrived very quickly and the portion sizes were perfect. The prices are not too high. It's also suitable for families as the the sales are large and it is spacious. We popped in here for "brunch" late morning after we'd got to the island relatively early and been up to the castle. In the end the breakfast options were limited and lunch service was due to start so we ended up ordering from lunch menu eventually*.I had a gorgeous beetroot salad to which I added some chips. I was glad of these as although tasty the salad had no carbs accompanying it. Husband had mackerel pate on toast which he loved. Children's meal was generous portion - sausage chips and peas - our three year old amazed us by eating it all! We drank tap water and didn't stay for pudding, saving ourselves for an ice cream later. *reason this delightful light and airy place doesn't get 5/5.. I tried to order from lunch menu at 11.50am when there was no queue. Waitress advised I would have to return at 12 as she couldn't "put it through" until then. Returning to the order point at 12.01 a massive queue has formed. With hindsight I regretted not asking that our order be taken with us acknowledging it wouldn't be started to be prepared until 12pm. As it was our food arrived about 12.30pm.

We hid in here from the howling wind and pouring rain! It was a basic cafe, with no frills, but pleasant experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hot chocolate was a winner with the teenage girls!! Panini with bacon, Brie and cranberry sauce was good, and coffee was reasonable!

I was ordered a BLT, which came on really lovely bread, but that was soggy thanks to the tomatoes being sat on the bottom. The Lettuce was really bitter and the bacon, half was burnt, half was undercooked. All in all, I hardly ate any of it.

I have to admit that I am not the person that comments on anything and everything, nor do I ever right a review of my experience. If I am unsatisfied with the experience, I just won't return again. But ... I have been seeing the Development of this establishment for that past 20 years and treated myself quite often to a night or two in any of the corner or best suites ( highly recommend those ) and enjoyed the ambiance and service this hotel had to offer. Our experience: Arrival to the hotel : We planned to have drinks prior to our meal. Found the bar area as busy as usual. With no free seats in sight, I ask the Brasserie manager if we could order drinks in the main lounge, whereas we been told that there normally is service but he has no clue what they doing today. Not answer I was hoping for. The entrance to the main lounge also been blocked off for some reason. Luckily the wait at bar was sufficient enough to pass the time for a table to become vacant. In previous visits, a relaxed table service was offered but not this time for some reason . Guess it’s an informal 5 star service.. , had to ask for bar menus as neither been on the bar or tables to see what’s on offer. ( also no usual complimentary nuts that used to be offered ) Restaurant We arrived early to our Booking at the samphire and were delighted to be able to be seated, unfortunately without any menus. It took about 10-15 min of us staring holes into the warm air, when I lost my patients and had to get up from the table to ask for menus at the entrance of the Restaurant. Yet again it took quite a while for us to order drinks and food as it seemed to be a chaotic service with everyone doing everything and no restaurant Manager nor head waiter in sight ( please note.. all evening ) . The lack of attention to detail was incredible .. table settings with knives to left and forks to right on every table .. just wow - giggle Food and drinks order done. ( ordered a glass of white wine with my mains, which never arrived ).. Drinks arrived what seamed ages. Overheard table next to us complaining about the slow service too, which been given a small apology but no solution to increase the speed of service ( yet again a lack of management ) Noticed the young waiter being unfamiliar on how to correctly present a bottle of wine and opening it, which I thought should be a training standard for a 5 star establishment. not only did he seem untrained, he also dried his hands in a used napkin left on the table next to him where diners just left. The pork belly starter , was below luke warm which was shame as its been rather tasty. I guess if a portion of this size is sitting on a kitchen pass for mere 3 min, it naturally will loose its core temperature, suggestion.. Next time use a cloche! I wanted to point this out to the service but yet again no manager or headwaiter to be seen and the waiters seem too busy to be bothered. Once they did ask if everything is alright, but by that time we finished what we had on the plate ( which is not a lot if you are hungry ) Unfortunately the main course of the hen and the monk fish not been any better and yet again being luke warm. Dessert of the frangipane tart and pineapple been ok, but yet again no attention to detail, as the dessert been bought out without cutlery being replenished prior. Ordered coffee to be served in the lounge, which arrived with no sugar or spoon and had to be asked for separately. When I paid my bill, I mentioned that the wine I ordered with my main course never arrived. No apology was offered.. A "informal fine Dining " experience. 95% informal - 5 % fine Dining. :-( Over the past 20 years I always chose the Headland hotel for its perfection, attention to detail and impeccable service, this time it's not delivered to its promise which is a shame cause that's what I will remember.. Coming from a 4 to a 5 star .. I expected more ( go back to 4 stars !!! You been better then

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.

We chanced upon this cosy, historic pub while out walking along the Saint's Trail from Perranporth to Cocks on Thursday, 5th December. We initially popped in for lunch - sandwiches, dripping cooked chips plus drinks - and ended up returning that evening for fish and chips, and again on Sunday lunchtime for the Sunday roast. We were that impressed!!!! The haddock and chips was sublime, as was the roast pork, which came with all the trimmings plus the excellent cauliflower cheese as an extra. The desserts of sour cherry roulade and sticky toffee pudding were also excellent. Finally, Matt clearly knows how to keep beer as both the London Pride and Landlord were perfect. As others have recently commented, the new landlords, Matt and Diane, are a class act and we found them very friendly, accommodating and professional. They have a lot of experience from previous ventures and we wish them well at the Bolingey Inn - we will certainly return there, next time we are on holiday in the area and will happily recommend it to others.
