Sagar Vegetarian Hammersmith Restaurant in Hammersmith and Fulham

Mediocre food with horrible service. The door was locked when we tried to come in even though there was still more than an hour left for the restaurant to close. When asked for water, one of the waiters rudely turned around. We ordered idli sambar and masala tea and both of those were served in two minutes and very cold, didn't even care to reheat the food properly. Would not recommend going there.

The food was so good! Very different from other Indian food I've had.

Charging full money, Food boxes size are already not enough and always Half of the Food Boxes are EMPTY, No Taste at all..Like eating bowled things. Not Worth the Money Anymore!

Checked with restaurant order was prepared already no rider at restaurant for more than an hour and now rider came and gave excuse that food was not prepared

We are regular customers. The food is delicious and excellent value for money.

Walked inside the restaurant in the early evening starving and needing something to eat. Me and my mum were not sure if they were closed or not as the restaurant was completely empty but we were so hungry we checked anyway. We walked in and asked if they were open and one older man was behind the bar and a younger man stood at the back. The younger man started to walk very quickly towards us and told us that they were so we went and sat in the empty restaurant as they brought us the menus. I looked forward towards my mum and her face was utter disgust and she looked very uncomfortable. I wasn’t fully sure what was wrong but since the restaurant was empty but open it was very bare. She then told me that the man at the back of the restaurant was waving around a FLY BAT!! As we walked in. As soon as she said that I was completely put of and disgusted. I then remembered that I saw the man at the back of the restaurant as I went in holding something and waving something around in the air that he then put away after he saw us but I didn’t realise at the time what it was till I was told. We looked up the restraint and saw countless bad food quality reviews and we had decided Then and There that we were no going to eat in this place it is absolutely disgusting and I am not surprised there was no one in there. So we stood and and my mother said to the older man that we had to go. So we very quickly left through the door and walked away. I will never ever go to this restaurant ever and I am totally glad that I didn’t have food as if that is going on inside the dining room god knows what is going on inside the kitchen. I don’t think anyone would like the thought of having flies in you’re masala. (Ps I would put 0 stars if I could but it didn’t allow me.)

Food was Totally OFF Few Times & Sent Wrong Items Few Times. Ignored the Food Instructions!

This restaurant in Hammersmith is more expensive than it's branch in North Harrow with some dishes being almost double in price. Service is slow and not very friendly and my masala dosa had potato filling that smelt and tasted off. They could make it better by at least being welcoming and serving with a smile.

Fantastic food same as you would find in India itself. I’ve been eating here for more than 2 decades and it never gets boring. Eat everything. Anyone who says vegetarian food is boring doesn’t have a clue. Yum yum yum

Had a weekday lunch here. They had this affordable lunch time offer for £10 and I absolutely enjoyed it. Food not too salty, which I prefer. Excellent service.

DRIVER NEVER PICKED UP THE FOOD ordered at19.10pm. rang restaurant who said they asked driver to wait 10 mins but he refused and ran off. we then collected the food ourself and driver rang me at 21.15 saying he finally is at restaurant!!

The food was delicious. Enjoyed it.

It is really a treat, as a solo diner, finding Thali on a menu. I had the northern thali and each dish was tasty and unique from the others. Certainly lets you know what the kitchen is capable of. I love finding fresh herbs in my sauce. The gulab jalub was the perfect touch at the end. There were not a lot of folks in house and orders were going out the door frequent. It was quiet and clean. About 5 blocks from Hammersmith station. Worth the effort

Profoundly mediocre food. Indifferent service. Would not return.

Quite disappointing. Used to come years ago for their lunchtime thali. Was passing through Hammersmith so thought I'd try it out. Quite pricy now, I was assured the food was freshly made but as a person who cooks regularly, I could tell it was not. The potato mix for the dosa was slightly off. The dosa was just too thin with no substance at all and the rice was dry and tasted bland. I was the only person there and had to ask for condiments for the papadum and was asked which one I wanted, they used to give all three as a matter a course which did eventually come after I asked for them. The place feels tired and looks like it's on its last legs. A real shame.

South Indian thali was very good, from weekday lunch menu

Absolutely loved the food here, if you are craving for South Indian food in London. Idly was soft and melt-in-mouth texture, unlike chewy idlis you get elsewhere. Medu Vada and Dosa were also crispy. The highlight was sambhar, which had various veggies including drumstick, giving a unique flavour and kick to its taste. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Here’s a review based on your experience: **Rating: 1 star** "I ordered veg biryani from this place based on a friend's recommendation, but what I received was disappointing. Instead of biryani, I got tomato rice, and the curd they sent was completely rotten. The portion size was shockingly small, so much that I even asked my friend if this was the usual amount. She confirmed it wasn’t, and after tasting it, she agreed it was just tomato rice, not biryani. When I called the restaurant to report this, the person on the phone simply told me that the kitchen closes at 3 and said he'd ‘inform the kitchen staff.’ Inform them about what? This kind of response doesn’t solve the problem. The management didn’t seem to care at all, and the food quality was terrible. Overall, this was a frustrating experience, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone."

Unfortunately the dosa was soggy all the way through due to condensation from the package and the driver took a long time across the bridge.

Amazing food! Some of the best southern Indian food I have had. Great vegan options to for those who need it.

we ordered food through deliveroo, its possibly the worst Idli I have tasted in my life. It was stale and bitter. The owner and the chef should be ashamed of serving such stale food. They probably make it in the morning. Idli are fermented and is the chef and owner that ignorant that they serve the same food in the evening. The service has always been great, but the food has been sub-par. The owner seems like is cutting back on quality and saving money. It's the last time we order from Sagar in Hammersmith. We have been going there for the past 15 years.

The idlis were cold and hard and the guy at the til was rude horrid service not to be visited

Food is just terrible...apparently the chef doesn't listen to any feedback...just don't go here expecting decent South Indian cuisine...staff is great though.

The samosas are wonderful! However the aloo gobi is watery and not that flavorful. Delivery time was way later than the “15-25 minutes” I was given. Arrived over an hour later.

This place is not bad at all. This place serves an amazing South Indian food. There were less people but food was fresh and well cooked and tasty. I highly recommend this place to anyone. It’s better to reserve before walking in. I hope they accept the walk-ins but we had reservation. The food was kinda authentic but less spicy for my taste but it’s okay.

Really got it right even better than on my last visit a time ago. Beautifully spiced dishes and the shrikland dessert was outstanding. A large menu all vegetarian. Warm, clean, welcoming and great service.

Sagar is delicious, food is divine and atmosphere is transcendent. Get the idli and some masala dosa and top it off with vegan ICE cream. Naitik and team give great service!

The waiter greeted us warmly and seated us on our table in the perfect sitting. He helped us choose our dishes by asking us what kind of food we liked. We chose the paper paneer dosa and traditional udupi thali and chilli paneer for starters The food and service by Naitik was out of this world so congrats 10/10

Would not recommend visiting this restaurant for anyone who really knows the taste of authentic Indian food . The dosas are just salty, the coconut chutney is basically dry coconut mixed with water , the mango lassi has tons of yellow food colour and don’t even get me to the biriyani . This place deserves a zero on food quality and taste . Ambience is really calming and beautiful music .

Sagar has always been our First choice due to there service and tasty food. All thanks to the 2 boys working there They are the best I’ll visit again next week.

Food in the restaurant, it's amazing.. very good in fact. The problem here, the waiter who came over with my bill asking for an extra tip, on top of the 12.5% service charge that's already on the bill. I'm happy to tip, it's not a problem and based on the food this evening I would have, without the need to be prompted. He couldn't even offer a receipt showing the full amount that I'd paid, felt very awkward when leaving the restaurant. The waiter who calls everyone "boss" or "boss man" is going to put people off coming here.

Vegetarian authentic Indian food with numerous options, everything was very tasty and delicious, good prices and a chill atmosphere.

Probably the most disappointing Indian restaurant I have ever been in terms of food quality. Curries were bland (not rich in flavor), rice overcooked (with too much water), and the dosa pancake was dry. The service and atmosphere were good though and hence 2 stars instead of 1.

We are visitors to London from Glasgow just on a wee break. We are plant based eaters and fancied an Indian meal...oh my, we cannot recommend this place strongly enough...an abundance of vegan dishes to choose from, incredible flavours, decent portion sizes and dishes we have not experienced in Glasgow. The servers were polite and friendly, service was spot on. We honestly couldn't rate this place high enough. We nearly passed by it in favour of another restaurant but something pulled us in and We're soooo glad it did. Loved it!!!

Pathetic. Dahi potato puri had no zing and no green chutney. Medu wada was refried and not fresh. Green chutney made from dessicated coconut. Sambar had no salt. Mysore masala dosa tasted rancid. Service was even worse - Only one server for 10 tables. Hopeless experience.

Great place, great service and the food was really good

Authentic South Indian food with a relaxed atmosphere and great service. Naitik is really friendly and gives lots of recommendations along with good conversation. Totally recommend the masala dosa :) Visited again and had the lunch special which was fantastic!! Highly recommend giving this a try great value wonderful friendly staff and delicious food! The kulfi Indian icecream is great also if you have any space left :)

Enjoyed a delicious and filling thali here for dinner. Tasteful vegetarian and vegan options! Biggest plus of the place is the hospitality, especially our server Naitik who was very friendly and courteous.

The food was terrible. The fries were undercooked and pretty much everything else was either undercooked, bland or tasted weird. The service wasn’t the best they didn’t take our order for ages and then forgot to bring the mains out.

One of the best restaurants in London for vegan Indian food. Absolutely delicious! My only complaint is that it lacks ambience, it would be great if the lights were dimmed a little and there were some candles on the table just to make it feel more cosy.

If I could would give it a zero star. Awful manager and stinking rude attitude. Questioned him about the rava dosa and he threw us out. The rava dosa looked like normal dosa, so obviously we were going to question him.

This is a great place for vegetarian options and dosa. The dosa was just melt in the mouth tasty, crispy and the dahi papri chat was yum. Got me a trip from North India to South India at the same time. The chole could be better as they were not the big fluffy ones that are served in the north but overall a great place to dine. The staff was courteous and welcoming.

Sagar has been my favourite place for over 20 years. You get here the finest and authentic South Indian food. You get the best and a very cordial staff here. There are always considerate and always give you your food as you want it. Most special dietary requirements are met and we can be assured of a quality service. Surely a place to visit during your stays in London and no matter where you are.

Run down and dirty restaurant. Sink in the toilets is blocked and full of food bits. The food comes under cooked and management staff are very rude and unwelcoming. Would not recommend.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour. So rude and they don't even know what food they're serving. The manager is a nightmare and needs to be fired. I cannot even believe how we were treated. The manager is extremely arrogant!! The worst experience ever. Both the food and service are the worst I have ever experienced.

Visited late on pancake day as an alternative dinner option. Food and service could be better. Door was initially closed for entry despite open sign. Also shows a 5 star food safety rating but online this is listed as 3 star after the last inspection. Not updated as per advertising standards.

I went to London for visiting my friends and craving for Indian food so my friend saw this place and said that let's try food here ..first of all no welcoming staff one guy made a huge face when we enter the restaurant but we ignored it and after some time they took our order and we were 3 people but after that more friends join us so we shifted tables. After ten minutes roti came without curry how we supposed to eat only chppatti after five minutes they gave us our curry and it was cold and roti they gave us before curry so it's cold as well again and again we tried to call them but they ignored us My friend called one guy thrice but he ignored after that other guy come ..it was not busy at all and other customers already ate so I don't know why they ignored us.poor service at all..cold food never coming back

Nice restaurant with friendly service. They serve South Indian food which could be tasty if there were spices. Without any spices the food was dull, we left disappointed.

Amazing food but their delivery is appalling and they expect customers to cope with it.

Would have given a 4.5. Had rava dosa (very good) and masala paper dosa. 4 stars because the paper dosa could have been thinner. The sambhar was a bit diluted. Polite service. They do add a 12.5% discretionary service charge which seems to be becoming a norm in London.

Wonderful South Indian vegan restaurant. Will not get anyone looking for Bombay street food disappointed! Open both for lunch and dinner throughout a week, stop by when you are in the area. Note: some dishes are really spicy so order some yogurt dishes!

Excellent flavours and hearty portions

The food tasted great. I would have appreciated a larger portion for the main meal. I was still hungry after a starter and main. I grew up in East London, so these West London prices always surprise me.

Nothing to write home about! Below average dosa with minuscule bowls of Sambar & chutney.

Interesting food, although I was not a fan of their lentil pizza. Service attentive and pleasant enough atmosphere.

The food I ordered was completely delicious. It was not a run-of-the-mill curry. Exceptional cuisine, I recommend the potato palya.

2 of the contaimers with curries were squished so it was almost half and bag was leaking. Other the food taste good

I had a very nice dinner here with my sister. Our starter was Sev Purri and totally delicious and main of Masala Dosa fabulous and very light. Our waiter Naitik was excellent and very friendly. We will definitely be back!

My brother went to this restaurant. He came asking for particular things potato curry, rice & a few things. No rice has come yet & you ask the guy where is the rice and he takes the order without writing it down or nothing. He asked for white rice & the guy insisted biryani & he didnt want this. The biryani is covered in nuts which he is allergic too. The food also has no seasoning!! The food came & he couldn't eat it & then he asks for the bill and the guy gives him the bill and he charges him for something he never even wanted. The guy starts getting disrespectful & laughs in his face.

wow!!!!!!!! wowowowo!!! soso amazing so many vegan options and every single thing we had was incredibly flavourful - amazing value too!! will defo be coming back here one of the best indian meals i’ve ever had for sure, highly recommend :))
