Saffron restaurant in Solihull

I’m giving this restaurant 5 stars, although I initially considered 4. The service was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and dedicated to ensuring we enjoyed every moment of our meal. The food was good overall. I must admit that when I think of a mixed grill, I expect it served sizzling with onions and the full shebang, but here it arrived plated instead. The butter chicken also included coconut which I wasn't expecting and which was on me for not checking the ingredients. However, the replacement dish of Punjabi chicken was an excellent recommendation, with just the right level of spice. There was a small oversight of not bringing water, but this was minor given the outstanding service. As a self-confessed foodie, I have high expectations ehen it comes to my food 😋

Rude staff that call you a liar for sending the wrong order. Ordered a ‘butter chicken’ they sent a korma, after putting in the notes I do not like korma and if it’s a korma dont send it. They sent a korma and then proceeded to call me a liar then had the audacity to say the recipe is the same and he just puts butter on top of the korma to make it a butter chicken, after arguing on the phone for around half an hour he then refused to send another curry without me paying for it. Will never be going here again disgusting

Very busy on a Friday night and a little slow on attention/service. Food excellent and alcoholic drinks are very good. Overall, we were impressed with our first visit in over 5-years. However, it certainly will not be our last, and we won't wait 5 years to visit again. Well done, Saffron

Second time here. The food was so tasty and enjoyable. The staff are all pleasant and very helpful. The last time we came, it was a Thursday. The restaurant was quiet. Today we went on a Friday and it was a much busier. It is a very popular place for a Friday night out. However, the quality of the food was the same. The naan breads are some of the bests we have had around the world. I'm looking forward to next year's trip. Finally the prices are really reasonable.

Opted to nip out rather than eat at the hotel. Glad I did. Service was good. Food was nice. It was a little quiet but it was a Wednesday after all. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely be back

Sent the wrong curries, then replaced them but was left with cold side orders wouldn’t replace the whole order so waited 2 hours in total for the correct food and half was cold.

Hi booked a table for 8 people for my wife"s birthday! When we arrived there were about 20 other diners already eating! We were shown to our table promptly and asked if we wanted drinks! The drinks arrived in good time and then we were brought the main menu"s we also asked to see the fixed price menu which i think come"s at two price"s the first at £18-95 and the second at £22-95 we were then informed that all our party of 8 people had to choose from the fixed price menu otherwise the offer ciuld not be given??? Please can you tell me why this rule is in place because there was only one of our party that wanted a different meal?? We all ordered our main courses and these came out after about 20mins which is quite quick! I ordered a balti chicken tikka and i must say that the portion control was strict (tight) to say the least which also reflected across the whole meal small portion of rice and the side order of chips was in a cone shaped container which i can only say for the price at £3-50 was a joke!! On top of the portion control issue was the fact that when my curry was placed in front of me it was at best luke warm which if you look at some of the other customer reviews on tripadvisor you will see is a reocurring theme so perhaps the management should take note and put this problem right!! In this day and age with the cost of living only going in one direction you need to be less tight on your portion control and look at the competition around you! We could have gone to any other indian restaurant in castle bromwich and have done in the past and had a far better meal for a far better price!! So for those reasons we will not be returning again!!

Lovely place, lovely food although very tight portion control, very good service. Only gripe was, it was not brought to our attention the fixed price menu, only the normal menu. We had to ask for it. There was 8 of us and 7 of us wanted the fixed price menu so we asked for it. they wouldnt let any of us have it just because 1 of our party didnt want the fixed price menu as they couldnt have eaten it all, they just wanted a main meal so none of us could have the fixed price menu. We didnt make a fuss as it was a birthday meal but would like to know why this is done. If we had booked seperately and sat on tables next to each other we could have had what we wanted. What was that all about. Wont go back just for.this reason.

Had a takeaway tonight ordered through just eat, it was nice enough chicken balti but the lamb tikka masala was chicken and the colouring was so red and so sweet not easy to eat. Nann I have had better. Our first order slightly disappointed.

Food was beautiful and the staff were very friendly. The price is on the higher end compared to other restaurants, but the food is worth it

Popped in tonight (25-7-24 ) for a curry with my husband, must say the curry was amazing. The service was ok. We had to ask if our drinks were on the way after waiting a while. Plus, we just felt a bit rushed after we had finished our meal. As soon as the table was cleared, they brought over the bill. We didn't even ask for the bill. It would have been nice to have been offered a wet wipe to freshen up your hands. It just felt like you have eaten. Please leave! Would have brought family to try it, but I wouldn't recommend dining here at all.

I ordered my food at 4:20 and it took ages to arrive, my food wasn’t hot

Website said they catered for Gluten Free diets. Reviews on TripAdvisor were good, so booked to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. What a let down and disappointment, Not one starter for my husband because of cross contamination, he is Coeliac and requires gluten free foods. Lots of Curry's and Rice which are naturally gluten free anyway!!! No gluten free deserts either. We had a lovely waitress called Angel. We will not be going back. If your Coeliac don't bother going is my advice.

Fourth of fifth time coming to Saffron now - consistently great service, love the food, pretty and just an all-round nice place to be for an evening. Also, nice atmosphere for kids - my 3 year old nephew knocked his head and was sad, the staff noticed and brought him over a chocolate :)

Been here once food was terrible and cold I read some other reviews and seen the way the owner replied rude and not open to any criticism whatsoever 0/10 wouldn't eat here to save my life

Both curry’s were watery & bland so very disappointed as always have lovely food from this restaurant . Was very disappointed with taste and texture

A group of us were in from the states and searching for a pub. Little did we know, many pubs don’t serve food on Mondays. We leaned this AFTER the Uber left. Had a drink at The Dog Inn and the nice folks there suggested Saffron. So glad they did! The staff was exceptional! From the minute we walked in to saying Good Night… even helped charge my phone . The food was amazing! We all were so happy with our choices and enjoyed sharing and trying new things. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Went for a meal tonight as a family of 3. Thought that the service was excellent. The staff were so attentive and welcoming. The food was absolutely amazing! It came out so hot and fresh. Everything was delicious. We ordered the veg starter platter for 2, curries, naan, rice and chips and everything was divine. At the end of the meal, my little girl bumped her head and cried. The waiter rushed over with a chocolate to cheer her up! We will definitely return!

We always eat in normally but thought we would try take away today and the food as always was delicious and delivered within half hour of ordering which is fab ☺️

Popped in with my wife last Thursday evening and had a fantastic curry. Vegetable rogan and a lamb vindaloo with rice. Both curries were very good, all the staff were polite and friendly and it's nice and clean inside and out. Definitely worth paying a visit.

Blimey! We found this restaurant on Google search during our golf trip to The Belfry. Genuinely, this was the best Indian curry restaurant that I have ever visited, which is high praise, because I normally don’t take Curry as my first choice. I wish Saffron was nearer my home because I would definitely be a regular here. Many thanks for lovely food.

always excellent food and service

We went last week with friends and decided to go again this week. I am such a fussy eater but this place is amazing. The chicken pakora starter was fresh and delicious and the chicken tikka dopiaza was just perfect. My husband had shish kebab starter and I can't remember his main but he thoroughly enjoyed it too. They may seem small portions but I assure you there is plenty. This is our new weekly place!

Due to another place wouldn’t seat us even though we had book saying no it Ramadan we ended up here, food was lovely, friendly with my grandchildren, service was great , thank you guys

Amazing food and I am really fussy but this is now my favourite restaurant. X4 people and bill was £200 but well worth it as a lot of cobra and wine also consumed

Sorry to say restaurant has gone downhill. Prawns were so small they got lost in the rice, very small portion of cold chips. Not even a poppadom added to bag, as usual. Will be going elsewhere in future. Used to be my favourite Indian restaurant.

I've never had such a disgusting meal in my life it was watery bland and all round the most disgusting curry I've ever had I don't recommend this place

Part of a 60th birthday meal we were the only party in the restaurant 2 hrs waiting for starters food was awful , cold not a curry but a paste. Not one person in a party of 30 people had a nice meal , shocking 1st & last time . Expensive too for the small portions would never recommend.

Can not faullt the food at all Yes it was valentines night and busy, to wait well over1 an hour for the meal to arrive, is that okay? It would have helped if someone had said something about the food taking longer, no communication at all, we had to ask. Was there too many online orders, as we saw those going out, and then everyones food more or less came out at the same time

This place is right in my doorstep and have only really started to take advantage in the last 12 months. Can’t say I’ve had a bad meal here in all my visits. I’ve tried a different dish in every occasion and all have been well presented and extremely tasty. Would definitely recommend to anyone that enjoys a curry. Staff are very polite and tentative. Prices are reasonable for both food and drink. Give it a try, you’ll be pleasantly surprised…

arrived super early, they just left us with it even though we said we wasn't ready for it yet, hense we chose for it to be delivered at a time that was appropriate for us.. and to top it off, we decided to just stop what we were doing and chose to eat the food as it wouldn't have tasted very nice warmed up, and it was already cold. all of it! Sooo disappointed. We always order from here and normally love it, but tonight was poor service and cold food.

The food is always nice and tasty. But the portions are getting smaller the chicken tikka lumps are a lot smaller than they used to be . The containers are smaller . Chicken is not an expensive item . Come on saffron look after your long term customers:🌦️

The blends of spices were nice, but the significant delay in delivery meant that the food was quite cold, and my son’s half chicken had become quite dry.

This place was absolutely incredible. The food was beautiful and tasted so good. The service was top notch with very friendly and professional staff. I look forward to eating here again on future trips to Birmingham.

Good food only thing that let it down was soggy chips but I don’t think they can help that, other then that was bang on, delivery was spot on aswell came 10 minutes early

Extremely disappointed, the chicken was dry and tasted as if was cooked the day before, the lamb chops were inedible, even my son in law left his chicken curry. Very disappointed, usually I give them 5 out of 5, I have to be honest it will be a long time before I order from here again.

I have emailed the restaurant with photos of the food i have not received a response after a week we always order from here with no problems before but our recent order came cold, missing our popadoms and the curry had so much oil/ water in it ruined the rest of the food

They sorted out the issue where 2 of the curry’s had leaked all over the other containers & bag I phoned & sent picture to them. The lady said it was up to me if I returned the original order but they would make the same order & delivered it quite quickly, the driver wanted the original order back. No issues I wasn’t going to eat but make your mind up. Sadly the food that was delivered wasn’t good. My children normally eat anything but they even left half. Sadly won’t be ordering again.

The food quality was good, but cold because the large bottle of tango was placed against the food in the same bag. We had to warm some of it up and this seemed to dry out the food. Disappointing because we normally love Saffrons.

Food was freezing cold very disappointing. I’d like to request a refund had to throw it away.

I’ve been a vegetarian for the past 10 years and having eaten at the saffron on a number of occasions. My son took me and my wife for a meal at the saffron for my birthday. I ordered a vegetable patia for my main and while I started to eat it I found meat in the curry. This made me feel sick and I was almost vomiting. I then reported it and left the restaurant. If your a vegetarian DO NOT EAT HERE I will never eat at this restaurant again

Lovely staf food came quick and was lovely. They even ordered a taxi for us free of charge from our hotel! 5/5 would recommend

Got order wrong. Food was average there is better Indian restaurants around the area. Quite expensive for small portions. Starting cleaning table next to us with strong smelling spray ( like bleach) whilst we was eating. Interior is lovely, however glass table had trapped foods. Your also sitting very close to others.

Food used to be really nice, don’t know what happened, but curry tasted just like a runny base sauce, unpleasant, samosas and spring rolls didn’t seemed cooked, pale and soggy.. prices have shot up also, such a shame, we did like going into the restaurant, and have ordered a number of times before. All this after having to call them up over a hour after food was meant to be delivered ! Very disappointed, won’t be ordering again.

Driver decided to go full his car up with fuel after picking our meal up. It was still 30 minutes after I phoned the restaurant to find out where my order was. They advised me it was already with the driver. It’s a 3 minute walk to our house from the restaurant. Delivery was only £1 so thought I would try it. Will go in person next time.

Extremely unprofessional i ordered 6 chipatis and girl who took the order said 10 mins , however i waited 30 minutes just for 6 chipatis . If you are busy and can't complete the order , simply say you can't do it . Extremely disappointed experience.

Ordered food from then on Uber Eats at 7:50 on a Friday, google said "Not too busy". Food didn't arrive until 9:35. Chicken Dopiaza tasted like a chicken stock cube with some onions and watery tomato sauce, no colour or flavour. Onions bhajis were stringy and soggy, more like pakoras but no crisp to them. Disappointed by the food, took so long to arrive. Won't be ordering again.

I ordered 2 lamb biryani 1 chicken biryani lamb curry an 2 pashwari naan an 1 plain naan an they didn't send an chutneys or chilli's wasn't happy about that Normally when I order they send chutneys an chilli's I had to eat the biryanis dry not happy I'm a regular customer

Wouldn’t order from here again. The rice was awful, had a horrible taste to it also very watery. It tasted like it needed washing and was definitely old microwaved rice. The curry was bland, the sauce was thick and glupy. Chicken was mushy. A big waste of £17

The lamb spinach balti is excellent. Very tender meat, lots of spinach, really hit the spot.

Had to warm everything up ! 2 frying pans for curry, air fryer for chips, naans are terrible so do our own & the mint sauce is like toothpaste! Never again!!

First time using this restaurant and the food was lovely. Really liked that you could customise the heat of the dish during ordering, as well as there being a vegetable tikka masala available for our veggie daughter.
