The Tamarind continues to be our favourite restaurant,the quality of food, ambiance and staff are excellent,we are never disappointed .It is an extremely welcoming & friendly place, the manager is always friendly & cheerful and the staff are equally as accommodating.Tamarind has been refurbished tastefully since we first started going there & they continue to upgrade. The menu is varied & original and they are always willing to tweak dishes to our particular tastes.Its clientele base continues to grow whilst the many takeaways that are collected is evidence of its popularity.You are always guaranteed a friendly and genuine welcome,a lovely restaurant.

Love this place, service is always excellent with a personal feel. I never feel rushed and of course the foods excellent! It’s a very clean and modern place with a mix of new and traditional dishes. There’s a special menu on Mondays and Tuesdays that’s brilliant value but it’s always value for money anyway.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Would highly recommend for families or couples looking for a tasty authentic Indian meal in a great location.

Tamarind is literally the best! The service is outstanding and the food is second to none. Can’t get enough of the samosa chaat and the dum biryani. Last time they made me a large main course version of the samosa chaat because I love it so much! We visited with a friend who is vegetarian and there were lots of great choices for her. Prices on a weekend are pretty high but worth every penny. If you go on a Monday or a Tuesday they have a set meal for a really reasonable price so it’s even better! Definitely worth a visit.

The restaurant is inviting and intimate. The staff are professional and attentive, without being over the top, and the food is delicious. I’d highly recommend Tamarinds

6 of us visited for my birthday - we all had something different and vegetable sides too. Each dish was absolutely delicious and served piping hot. The service was great. Thank you Tamarinds for a lovely evening - we will be back very soon.

Visited last night for my mums birthday meal. We had such a lovely evening. Nice atmosphere, attentive staff and beautiful food. Nice touch of a baby Guinness after our meal 👌 Would definitely recommend and can't wait to come back!

Best curry we’ve ever had ( and we’ve had a few!!). Indian Railway Cabin Chicken was the most delicious meal we’ve had ever in a curry restaurant. Decor modern and very clean. Staff delightful, friendly and helpful. We don’t live in the area, but will definitely return.

Myself and my family have just got home from a lovely meal here. It has been recommended to us before and we finally found the time to come. It was definitely worth it, the food was delicious. All the staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us. Our daughter was over the moon with her ice cream at the end. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

We used the curry house may be every month for some time. This curry house got taken over may be over 12 months ago, and we don't think the food is nowhere as good. The chief before always had good food and very tasty. I used to take 12 currys away as well so I know what kind of food was served here. It's such a shame it was so nice all changed, not going to use again

I've been here many times and it has always been excellent. I recently visited and was very disappointed with the food. The 'new' menu is not as extensive than before so limited choice. The sharing starter had uncooked tough lamb, that gave my friend a bad tummy. We chose 2 main dishes that looked exactly the same and consisted if 3 pieces of lamb/chicken in a bowl of brown curry gravy!

Dropped in on a sunday evening so the restaurant was quiet but we were warmly welcomed. Very nice decor - stylish and comfortable. Ordered the Indian Train Cabin chicken and a naan and it was really wonderful. The naan was fluffy and warm, the curry was delicious.

Onions in egg fried rice grandson had the chicken nuggets he wouldn’t eat them the food to be honest was just cheap and and tasteless not what I was expecting from there so disappointing my husbands curry was just basically a bowl of grease

Absolutely loved the food, I had a chicken pathia which was delicious and George had a chicken bhuna which was excellent. The naan was fluffy and full of flavour, will definitely recommend Tamarinds to family and friends 👍👍👍

Service was a little slower on this visit (I’d almost thought our mains had been forgotten) and unfortunately were seated in a much noisier part. Still delicious food though!

First time I’ve ever had a balti with no veg. No onion to be seen, no peppers, no tomatoes, no taste. May as well have ordered a jar of baby food with a sprinkling of chicken.

Came here with friends and family. Had a wonderful evening. Atmosphere was great and I could not fault the service. Reasonably priced. It was fantastic, they even helped us to take a group photo at the end! highly recommend and thank you all for a beautiful evening.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant! We visit Cafe Tamarinds at least once a week and have never been disappointed. Since being taken over by new management a couple of years ago the improvement has been incredible. Recently refurbished, the ambiance is relaxed and modern which makes every visit a pleasure! The menu (updated this month) caters for the traditional curry lover as well as those who might dare to try some of the delicious home-style Bangladeshi dishes. Finally, I have to mention the friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble! Thank you and keep up the excellent work! We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Called for a take away. Asked for chicken tikka rogan Josh. When I got home it was just plain chicken very bland very little spice also seemed watery Very disappointed will not be going back

3 rd visit to this restaurant with the current owners. Both previous times very good attentive service and excellent food. However on this occasion although food excellent as always the service was far worse . Restaurant was very busy with a one large party. Order was taken promptly and although there was a longer wait for food I could understand that. However after the plates were cleared I was expecting to be offered face wipes not offered! Also no one asked if we would like any dessert or coffee! One person behind the counter seemed more interested in chatting to a pair of dubious looking guys who were drinking at the bar. Customer service was not great and eventually managed to pay the bill and left. I’m afraid that I am not planning to return based upon the customer service on this occasion and would certainly not recommend it to anyone. Sad really as the food was excellent!

Excellent place, been 3 times now and have been impressed every time. I definitely recommend the lamb chilli karahi and the prawn madras for those who like a bit of a kick! The staff are very friendly and brought out a free ice cream for the little one, even though he said he was full (he wasn’t).

Takeaway curry was really nice, family also enjoyed the food immensely.

Been a few times to this Indian restaurant and never have anything else but great food and service. Poppadoms and sauce make a good starter served with a nice ice cold pint of Cobra. Had a few dishes of the menu in the past and all have been lovely but my favourite is the Indian Railway Cabin chicken with a roti. On this occasion I asked for Mata Paneer as a side order with my main course which was not on the menu but the made for me no problem. I would recommend a vist to this lovely restaurant.

A jewel of a find within Balsall Common village. The food was delicious, a good quantity and nicely served. There was a good range of food available. The service was attentive, professional and friendly but sensitive to not intrude. Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you.

We booked Tamarinds to celebrate Mum's birthday. 14 of us in total Inc 2 children. Staff welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food choices wonderful. Menu had everything you would want, All the dishes were flavoursome and everything hot, prices very reasonable, plenty of take aways and deliveries were made whilst we were there too. Lovely decor, subtle lighting, nice ambience. We ordered Bhargies, Samosas and the meat starters to share. We had the poppadoms with sauces, they were so light. Really good selection of wines and drinks. Great restaurant we will definitely be back soon.

Good food, fair price service good

Just returned from our first meal at the refurbished ‘Tamarinds’ restaurant. Delighted with what they have achieved in such a short time into turning a rather ‘ dated ‘restaurant into a vibrant modern restaurant whilst retaining its quality service and excellent food.Credit to manager , staff and chefs for this.We will continue to support, a great plus to Balsall .

Popped in on the off chance we could get a table given it was around 8pm on a Saturday and luckily there was one available even though the restaurant looked busy. We kicked off with a couple of poppadom with the usual onions and dips along side a glass of draft Cobra. They were fine but could have been a little crispier. For mains, it was roasted red chilli karahi chicken for the wife and the Indian Railway cabin chicken for me with us sharing a mushroom pilau rice and a sag aloo bhajee. side. Both dishes were really enjoyed again alongside some draft Cobra so overall a positive experience. What helped was the pleasant and friendly staff with whom we had a bit of banter as well. Likely to go again if we happen to drive through the village again.

This is the second time I've taken my friend and his wife to tamarinds on high appraisal from myself only to be let down again we opted for the three courses Monday and Tuesday special. Last time I took him there he had lamb which was tough this time my girlfriend had tikka massala but had lots of dedicated coconut in very bitty and not like before I had madras as usual which wasn't that spicy this time around my friend tried the railway curry which was no different to mine in colour and consistency I had this at the Delhi in Solihull it should have a green tinge to it due to the ingredients they should have used. No coffee after gone down hill im a regular here but don't think il return

Very friendly and accommodating staff. The food was very good. Well spiced and tasty. We ordered the Hyderabadi lamb- cooked with tamarind, almonds and yogurt (sounds divine, right?) It was, although I find it a bit too sweet. The shahi paneer was my favourite (on the sweet side too) - chunks of paneer generously covered in a rich creamy sauce with a subtle tang --- delicious. The rest of the dishes were yummy too! Jalfrezi was hot as it should be, sag aloo well cooked (not runny). The coffee was not bad, but not good either (hence the the 4-star). Will certainly have a meal at the Tamarinds again and again. Highly recommended, go ahead and try their lovely food.

Restaurant nice and warm on a cold night. Pleasant and efficient service. Very reasonably priced (we went on weekday on special offer evening). Some food good, some not so good, but nothing too bad and portions were large.

Smart, tidy and clean premises, truly sumptuous food, a wide menu sure to please, great portion sizes to fill you up and for the quality outstanding value. Do visit!

Lovely meal at Cafe Tamarinds tonight. We took advantage of the deal - starter, main and coffee for £12.90. Kebabs and bombay biryani were delicious. Cobra beer on tap too. Will be coming again!

Although the food was ok the staff and venue left a lot to be desired . It has no atmosphere and was just flat . The staff didn’t seem bothered . We won’t go back .?

Good value , great service, wonderful food.We have been regular customers over the past 6 months and have thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Cafe Tamarinds. Management, staff extremely pleasant & accommodating, thoroughly enjoyed the wide range o food available, compliments to chef & staff.A most relaxing atmosphere & a really enjoyable evening out.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and you could tell that they wanted you to have a good experience. The food was delicious, lots of choice on the menu and reasonably priced. We will be back!

10/10 From a take away on a friday night or eating in at the restaurant itself on a saturday - Tamarind Cafe ALWAYS delivers! So unbelievably glad to have tripped up on this little gem, cannot believe we have only discovered it recently. As vegetarians the choice on the menu is astounding, I have tried a different dish every time and each one is just as delicious as the last! The service when eating at the resturant is second to none; the staff are attentive, helpful, welcoming & a pleasure to be served by. To top it all off - the price is fantastic; for freshly prepared, authentic, delicious & generous portions - the only suggestion I could give to the Tamarind Cafe is keep doing exactly what you are doing, much appreciation for making every take away night a great night!

Very friendly staff but since the new owners have taken over. The menu is smaller and the prices have gone up by around 30% and quality of the food has deteriorated.

Nine of us dined in on a Saturday evening. All very experienced in Indian/Asian food. Compliments flowed all round. A most enjoyable meal and well looked after.

Tamarind in an Indian restaurant which i loved the name. Iy has a good vibe and smiling service but that is all. And it is not making food tasty. The food is definelty one of the worst indian foods I ate. Everything is like added extra sugar: extra sweet. And i am not even Indian. So overall if you want to eat good food it is not the place but looking for good vibes it can be a choice.

We used to use this resturant every time we were in town but now they have new management the foods horrible The chicken tikka masala was watery with no flavour complete waste of money so will be using the bengal brasserie now on. Don't waste your money

I visited this gem of a restaurant with a few friends and was not dissapointed. The staff were attentive and extremely pleasant and the meal was absolutely delicious. I had the sikandari lamb chops as a starter and they were tender and succulent and tasted...
