On visiting our favourite Yorkshire Wildlife Park required a cuppa & naughty cake stop. The Latte & Tea were excellent, the Honeycomb Cheesecake was delicious 🤤 Naughty & nice. The service was fast & efficient. Excellent refreshment stop.

Sandwiches were not fresh, we had the club sandwiches, the bread was stale, the lettuce sloppy, the tomato was limp at best, the chicken was grey and dry, the poor filling was sparse for such a big sandwich, it was mostly old, stale bread. We've had better meal deals from Sainsburys, which were way cheaper. 6 quid for a sarnie that was clearly made the day before was such a waste of food, money and time. We left feeling hungry and disappointed.

We visited today and purchased two cookies. Luckily I checked the dates before eating as they were out of date. They had a date of 31/03/23. We spoke to an older lady with glasses behind the till who applogised and swapped them for us. She also said 'we are really strict with dates here'.. not sure that is true after our findings today!

Went in for something to eat this afternoon, my disabled son wanted a burger minus the bread with chips. Nothing complicated about that until I was served by the supervisor who was extremely rude making me feel uncomfortable. Asked questions about why my son didn't want bread with his burger, he can't eat bread it makes him choke.I told her I wasn't after a discount just the burger without the breadLeft with our lukewarm tea ( which we didn't drink) the food arrived I asked to speak to the manager. The supervisor came to our table with an attitude asking what the problem was, I told her nicely that I wanted to speak to the manager and she stomped off making rude comments. Both myself and my disabled son was very upset by this. I did speak to the manager who was very polite but nothing was done. Paid £16.40 for a bad service and cold tea. It's a shame will never return here better food and drinks at Masai Cafe and the staff are polite and helpful. Should have gotten a 10% discount as we are annual pass holders but I just wanted to leave.

I have never been in a cafe as ridiculously slow as this one! One woman on the till, lovely but exceedingly slow, also getting the drinks and other bits when someone else should be doing that for her and speeding up the queue wait. Food average, not particularly worth the wait. Real let down for what has otherwise been a lovely day.

We came down after walking all the way through the park and thought we would have a drink and something to eat before heading back to the car park. Absolutely shocking, was told it was going to be a 30 minute wait just to get a table! When there were plenty of tables that needed clearing. When the tables were cleared, people were sat straight away, tables were not wiped or sprayed which is shocking to say people will be eating off of them. Luckily we got in as a table of 2 came up after 10 minutes. Then queued in the line to pay for 30 minutes to then be told it would be a 40 minute wait for food which was diabolical. So me and many others decided we would grab a bag of crisps and a drink and leave which is what we did. Prices are crazy for 2 bottles of pop and two bags of crisps, it came to just under £10! Unbelievable. Only one til open which made everything slower. Menu was small and limited, all we wanted was a light bite of chicken wings and a side of chips but we refused to wait 40 minutes for that so we left with crisps which didn’t fill us up. Genuinely disappointed with this, we will try it again next time but if it is the same we won’t return. They need more staff and obviously a bigger kitchen and more kitchen staff because 40 minutes for food is an absolute joke.

A limited menu very much aimed at the family market, with sandwiches, chips, pizza etc. I had a cheese and ham toasted croissant with chips which was OK and my husband had sandwiches - a bit too much thick white bread which gave him indigestion. Expensive for what it was, but then it's a captive market and I like to think it's helping to support the work that they do. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Food options are limited within the park, so this is the best bet for a more substantial meal. It does get busy.

Visited today for my wife's 30th birthday and as I booked tickets I noticed the afternoon tea options so decided to go for it. Arrived, and was seated in a lovely secluded open bright room with a lovely aesthetic. Staff were amazing Caroline and Kailey (excuse the spelling) were fantastic. The food was delicious. At a zoo you kind of expect school canteen levels of food but this was next level. Each cake and sandwich was the best I'd had of that cake and sandwich. Would 100% recommend this to anybody. We've used this cafe before and had rather patchy experiences (good to so-so), though the food has generally been good. However, we went today (a quiet Wednesday morning) and obediently stood by the sign telling you to wait there to be seated. We waited....and waited....and waited. At least 4 members of staff were serving and coming in and out to see to the few customers that had managed to be seated - all saw us (they could hardly not have), none even acknowledged us and even seemed to be deliberately avoiding meeting our eyes. The lengths they took to avoid catching our eye would have been funny if it hadn't been so frustrating. The cafe wasn't busy and there were plenty of empty tables so we had to finally conclude that they wanted an easy day of it and so were actively trying to discourage customers. On that front they succeeded, as we finally gave up and left to go to 'Cornerstone Coffee', which couldn't have been more different. We didn't mind waiting for a waitress to show us to one of the many empty tables. The issue was that none of the staff even acknowledged us - a quick "I'll be with you in a moment" would have made such a difference, though it's very difficult to see what was making them so busy as it certainly wasn't the customers. We'll no doubt return to the park but we'll be giving the Safari Cafe a wide-berth in future.

Have been coming here on a regular basis for the last couple of years and without doubt it has give downhill. The menu doesn’t appear to have changed much during this time either. Today I visited for lunch and ordered the superfood salad. It came a short while later and I can only describe it as a bowl of green leaves with one tomato and half a dozen pine nuts covered in oil. The price was £8.95.I was very disappointed to say the least. I took it back to the counter and told staff of my dissatisfaction. I was told that they would tell chef . Chef !!! I would be ashamed to call myself one if I was turning that kind of food out. They did refund me the cost of it which was appreciated but I would rather have had a lovely salad and not had to complain. To be honest the food has been average and expensive the last couple of times we have visited. I won’t be in a hurry to go back. Despite it being in the middle of lunch service, the place was empty. I can see why.

When we visited this cafe earlier in the year we were pleased with the quality and presentation of the food, sadly this was not the case yesterday. The food was poor quality. They are now using cheaper food, at the same price which isn’t cheap for a cafe. The salad was very disappointing, just 2 mouthfuls of a woeful salad. Last time the salad was lovely, served with a nice coleslaw. The burger was average, even though it cost £12.95. Tables were not cleared but just left, we even had to clear our own table, although there were plenty of staff, who were just talking behind the counter. I’m afraid we will not be eating or drinking at this cafe again.

I received vouchers for Afternoon Tea as a birthday gift. Called in on our arrival at the park today to make sure my request for no butter in the sandwiches had been passed on, and a lovely friendly young woman assured me it was all sorted. When we came back at 2pm everything was ready for us, a quiet table by the windows in the upstairs area. Our drinks arrived very quickly and the food shortly after, an excellent selection of very tasty sandwiches, scones and cakes, in fact we were amazed at how much food there was and how nice it was. We have had afternoon tea at Betty’s in York and it wasn’t a patch on what we had today either for quantity or quality! We were offered more drinks and more sandwiches if we wanted them and we took home a little box with a couple of cakes we couldn’t manage A very enjoyable experience, we were well looked after and well fed, very good value for money.

We are at the Safari Cafe as I write this review. The cafe is not particularly busy, and there are several members of staff working. Our food eventually turned up after 25-30 minutes of queuing to order + 35 minutes waiting for it to be cooked. We ordered a chargrilled chicken burger, some chicken wings, and some chips - nothing overly complicated. The food itself was nice enough but the service was dreadful - we didn’t complain but you would have expected someone to at least say “sorry for your wait”. The staff in general seemed completely ambivalent, notably a girl stood behind the coffee machine complaining of how hungry she was, though doing nothing to help alleviate the queue of hungry customers waiting to order (or even making coffee at said coffee machine) and another who didn’t even acknowledge my husband holding the door for them while they were coming through with some food - both in a world of their own, moving at a glacial pace. We won’t be visiting again in a hurry, and I’d suggest that if this is the performance on a steady day that it’s one to be avoided in the height of summer when the Wildlife Park is busier. Also, 20% off food voucher given on entry to the park is not accepted here - the two meals listed above and three soft drinks came to £32+.

We called here for coffee before heading into the Wildlife Park, checked out the menus, and decided to have a meal here once we had finished with the animals. Great choice! The table menus change throughout the day, so when we first called in, the breakfast menu was available and plenty of people were enjoying food and hot drinks. By mid afternoon, the lunch menu was on the tables, plus a variety of 'specials' on the blackboard. My glazed chicken wings, with a side of gourmet fries, was piping hot and absolutely delicious - not to mention great value for money. A little later, the lunch menu was withdrawn and afternoon tea was being promoted, with plenty of takers. There's also a deal on 'coffee and cake' and the cake selection is amazing. There is both indoor and outdoor seating - we chose outdoors as it was a pleasant afternoon and we had the company of chirpy little sparrows searching for crumbs. Delightful. What a great place.

Last time we came we both had the Chicken burger, which was served in a brioche bun and with a mayo sauce. We ordered the same except this time the menu read very slightly different, still with the same price tag i must add, we waited nearly an hour for the meals to arrive, and the Chicken burgers came, placed between two soggy buns, with a disgusting tomato based spicy sauce, which I may add was not on the description. We had lunch in Safari Village Cafe later than we normally would but on this occasion it was very busy. We therefore waited quite a lengthy time for our lunch as cooked to order. When arrived was well worth waiting for and enjoyed. My only criticism would be not a big choice of menu or variation of food.

We visited the park this week and after wandering around for a while, we decided to go back to this cafe for lunch. It was a good decision, the food was lovely and the drinks even better. My friend had a freak shake and was not disappointed, it was huge! I was sensible with a good coffee, but I might be tempted by one next time!

The cafe is set just before the Wildlife Park pay booths, in an area with a few shops as well as the cafe.

I had breakfast in this place on Sunday 2nd July 2017. There was myself and 3 others plus a 5 year old. The staff were great and the location was brilliant.

Not been in this cafe for a while. Visited today. The service was excellent and ordering was efficient. Didn't wait too long for the meal to arrive. Food was also excellent. I had a chicken salad and the wife chicken panini. We both enjoyed our meal as the weather outside was very hot and muggy. Good visit.

We popped in for an early lunch about 11.45am on a Saturday prior to going into the wildlife park. The place is really nice and appears to be an old barn that has been converted into the cafe. The menu was fairly large and you go to the till to place your order. The drinks we ordered came very quickly and the food not too long afterwards. The standard of the food and portion sizes were really good and all plates went back empty. We would definitely come back here again next time we come to visit the park.

So this cafe looks nice and promises a lot but just doesn't quite deliver! The food was ok (pasta for a child, salmon salad and a burger) but not as appealing as it might sound on the menu. The service was painfully slow and rather chaotic (food served with cutlery arriving later!). This place looks relatively new so might be teething troubles but could clearly be much better than it is currently.

We ate here on Friday 26th and whilst we were their just before the lunchtime rush the food was good quality portions were ideal and the surrounding area was very clean and tidy. The staff they employ are were all very polite and helpful and it made for a very nice way to sit and watch the world go by for 45 mins. Prices were reasonable and i believe good value for money

Within the Wildlife Park is the Masai Coffee House. This is an excellent drink and snack/lunch stop enroute round the park. We stopped for hot drinks and cake. Service very good, homestyle cooked cake of good quality. Very good visit.

We stopped here for one night to complete a run the next morning. Restaurant This is one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Most meals we have had elsewhere recently have had poor service or low quality food. Not here! The staff were so friendly and accommodating and very attentive. The service was just right; orders taken and plates cleared at appropriate times, and just the right amount of time between courses; not rushed and didn’t take ages. We share a garlic and cheese pizza bread which was tasty, hot and fresh. I had the pulled pork Yorkshire and my husband has the sausage and mash, again nice and hot and delicious; the vegetables were cooked perfectly too not mushy and not al dente. We had Bakewell tart for pudding and it was lovely to be asked whether we wanted it cold or warm. Hotel A really smooth check in again with really helpful and lovely staff. The room was small and basic but very clean and tastefully decorated. Nice and quiet apart from the odd train going past. Mini toiletries in the bathroom. Clean and fluffy towels. Tea making facilities and biscuits. Plenty of plug sockets. Good WiFi connection too. Thank you for a lovely stay and a lovely meal.

Everything is overpriced and poor/average quality and I mean everything. Ales are not kept well and wines etc are bought via their sister site (Shire Stores), food isn't great but expensive and they've gone through chefs like a knife through butter ! I wasn't there but my friend was in recently when the little lad (aka Bar Manager) refused to serve 2 customers at 10.50pm, at which point another customer offered to buy them a drink only to be told by the manager that they would be barred if they bought them drinks - wow, how to treat your customers. On the hygiene front, they made a massive thing out of finally getting a 5 star rating after the recent and well documented rat issues which is fair enough. However, the gents still stinks horrendous and of course the rat issue occurred when they previously had 5 stars - so much for the ratings. Previous employees and suppliers are still owed £1000's I keep popping in but there's no sign of things getting any better

Too many people had bought their drinks then just just hung around in the way at the bar. Singer performing was awful.
