As we were off work this week, and it also happened to be the day before hubby’s birthday, we popped into town to grab some lunch. What a lovely little find! Very good coffee, fish finger sandwiches and carrot cake that ticks all the boxes. Lunchtime menu choice is good, with something to please most people! It’s also a shop with lots of goodies around the walls to tempt you. Very happy friendly staff and the place was pretty busy with people coming and going for the whole time we were in there. All in all a popular eating place. We’ll be back!

We came in at the end of the afternoon, quite hungry. They did not have any bagels left but the staff were very creative and offered us alternatives. And it tasted good. We were sitting outside, I think inside looks much nicer actually. But all in all glad we stopped by

I called in for coffee and cake...and to escape the rain! The decor is lovely and relaxing - light and airy with wicker chars and bright kitchenware. Staff were friendly and there was a fresh, clean feel - actually for the duration of my visit the two ladies stayed constantly busy cleaning and clearing tables when not serving Customers. My latte and millionaire’s shortbread were very good and I enjoyed my visit. If I visit Hastings again I would happily return.

I used to pop in here most weeks, but just haven't been able to due to work commitments. I was able to last week and I was really pleased to find that it was as good as ever. A very creditable cup of coffee and very nice fresh cakes and pastries. Friendly and helpful staff, a very agreeable owner who is happy to stop and chat, and very clean, especially the lavatory, which is sometimes hard to find in Hastings. Must go back as soon as I can. No negative comments at all.

Modern bright wood and pastel interior with some cook shop items for sale around walls feels welcoming. BLT had tasty bacon with right crispness and Fish finger sandwich reflected same use of quality ingredients. Cakes and pastries also available plus choice of types of teas and hot chocolate flavours as well as coffee. Marginally more expensive than ‘chains’ but you could taste and feel the difference.

A civilised cafe with good coffee and a remarkable selection of teas. It feels clean, bright, and a bit Scandinavian, with polished light wood, and some indoor plants. Seata inside and out.

Have been here a few times and being on your own you don't feel you need to sit in a corner as the staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. The coffee is very good and the toasted teacakes are delicious and nicely toasted and it is very good value and they have outside seating when the weather is good. A great little meeting place for good coffee and snacks. The staff are great. Well worth a look.

I first visited this cafe 12-18 months ago and thought it quite good, so as I was in a shop across the road I decided to drop in again. We ordered a pot of tea for 2, a ham and cheese bap and a brie & cranberry bap (I asked for the spinach to be omitted) at a cost of £12.55. It was bought to our table promptly and the server / waitress was very pleasant. However the food and drink was far less so. The tea was weak - so weak that no matter how much we stirred and allowed to brew, it barely changed colour from the milk already in the bottom of the cup when it was poured. A second cup some time later faired no better. Upon inspection, I found that the amount of loose tea used was so minimal that it would never have provided a stronger cup of tea. Then we came to the baps which were dry, uninteresting and dull. The presentation of both left a lot to be desired (see attached photos) and were hardly a feast for the eyes. A little salad may have helped (as although I had asked for the spinach to be omitted, no alternative was offered). With Waterfalls and Cafe d'arts in close proximity, this cafe will need to raise its game if it is to survive. I for one will opt for one of these next time I am in the area.

I visit here every couple of weeks, and find the staff very pleasant, efficient and friendly. The cakes and pastries are very nice and I like the coffee. Interesting that another reviewer compares Rye Bay Kitchen unfavourably to Costa and Caffe Nero. Rye Bay wins hands down over the big chains in my opinion. I like a reasonable size cup of tasty coffee, not a bucket of coffee flavoured warm water. Still, I suppose for some people size matters more than quality.

Rye Bay Kitchen has nothing to go by or offer. It looks smart but is not. Advertises soup. Says it is not on.Ordered large cappuccino and tomato mozarrello and pesto ciabatta.I had to check with the waitress the large cup was very small. The ciabatta was even smaller than the saucer. Tiny bread roll size. with just leaf salad.Ciabatta was nearly £5 and capuccino large nearly £3 it was not worth itStaff were 3 young people, working as if they had never worked before, Did not know til, Did not know prices did not know how to deal with customers, Girl serving me did not know how to give change back for £6.50 out of a tenner.Really poor, besides making their cafe nice looking it is overpriced incompetent staff and a real insult. Would not recommendI cannot believe they make enough to cover costs. It is empty most of time

When here as an unplanned destination looking for a quick lunch. Service was good, place was clean if lacking a homely feel. As you go in there's a home wares shop with over priced trinkets. The other side of the shop if a small counter where you can see a selection of cake & cookies. There's many fillings for rolls etc, lots of vegetarian options. We had chips which were served hot but uncooked unfortunately. I didn't like the taste of the coffee but maybe that's just my personal preferences. The roll & cookie i had were both great so all in all, you could do worse.

This is a place we visit occasionally when in town. The staff are always friendly and the prices are about normal, but I feel their large coffees are not of a size I would expect-In somewhere such as costa or caffe nero they would be considered medium sized. It is a nice place but as with a previous reviewer find it irritating that the level you need to spend to pay by debit card is so high, which is one of the reasons we do not go there as often.

Clean and tidy, coffee was ok. Nice to be served a little biscuit with it and I was pleased to see that they allowed dogs inside the cafe. The thing that annoyed me was that I went to pay for two coffees by debit card and was told that they do not accept transactions under £10. When I asked why I was told that the transaction fees were too high. As a customer that isnt my concern, especially when the coffee is the price it is. As a business owner I think you just have to absorb that if you want to please customers

There is a definite lack of quality cafes outside of the old town in Hastings but this was a good find. Both of our lunch food choices were very tasty and very nicely presented. There is a good choice of teas and coffees. The decor is pleasant and you can watch the world go by from the window seats or the outside seating.

We popped in for a quick bacon sandwich and coffee before shopping on Saturday. Quick service, tasty bacon sandwiches and the reason for this review is to call out the service we observed to others. The server with the brown hair and beard obviously knew his locals, and listening to him chatting to his regular clients was heartwarming, as for many he may be their only interaction that day. He was explaining to a lady that he was due to be off and that he would be back and that she wouldn’t see him for a few weeks. The young lady that delivered the sandwich to us was equally charming but both my husband and I sat listening to the chat across the counter and both said how nice it was to hear. So well done to the server, great customer service goes a long way!

We visited on bank holiday Monday and couldn't work out why it was much emptier than surrounding places- possibly because they weren't doing eat out to help out, however it meant we got a window table. Food was fairly quick to come out and the fish was tasty, the chips were probably a little on the over done side but I like them crispy. Shared bottles of ketchup and tartare sauce- luckily we had brought our own hand sanitiser. Overall fairly decent meal, wouldn't rush back and looking at the huge queues in other places I wonder if other people know something we didn't.
