Ruyam Turkish Restaurant in Tower Hamlets

Honestly, I wasn’t too impressed. The portions were pretty small for the price, and the meat was way over-seasoned. I was expecting something better, especially for what I paid. Wouldn't go back.

It's been many years where I have thought I have found a gem. But this is it. Up there with the best turkish food I have had in London. Sounds a big claim but I grew up in the Turkish community of green lanes north London. I used to get some sort of turskish food from the age of 12 at least 3 times a week. And as an adult eat turkish food at least once a week. There are a few dishes I feel I am an expert in 1. Lamuchen 2. Mixed grill platters 3. Baklava 4. Starter dips Here I had 1,2,4. I have not had a better Lamuchen in London the bread was a combination of soft and crispy and the minced lamb was really well flavoured and a generous amount of lamb mince. You can see by the picture how good visually it looked The sauces were great. The chilli sauce tasted home made and full of flavour, not just spice. Accompanied by the super fresh bread. I must admit after the starters I was quite full. Which usually means I will not enjoy the mains as much. But I did the chicken shish on the mixed grill was perfectly charred and really tender whilst being cooked right through. The chicken wings the same. I would say the chicken wings were also the best I have tasted in London. Then there is the lamb kofta. I usually find that restaurants make this tough and grisly or with too much fat. But here it was perfect melted in the mouth and full of flavour. The platter also came with bulger rice and lamb and chicken doner. Very different to what I had tasted else where. Hard to put my finger on it, but it tasted full of quality. I know I sound like a raving fan which is rare as I am a tough customer. Areas for improvement I would say is the garlic sauce and the aubagine dip both could be a bit richer Overal I would say it is the best turkish restaurant in Central London and joint top in the whole of London. A MUST TRY.

Wow, we found flies and ants in our drinks, and the food was so disappointing and lacked flavour.

We were served expired rice. And some of the meat also seemed almost expired. The man even admitted that it was expired and gave us chips. It seemed like they just gave us leftovers, which was awful. One of our party even threw up as well. The whole experience was very unpleasant. I wouldn’t recommend it.

This is my second time coming to this place, I loved the food, service and hospitality. Great food and I highly recommend this yogurt turkish kebabs, perfect blend of flavours and presentation. I highly recommend this restaurant, the prices are reasonable, food is absolutely delicious and the cocktails were amazing as well. I aim to visit again soon!

The food was absolutely delicious. In contrast to other restaurants in the area this one is the best. The rice pudding was the best I have ever had.

I've never been to Whitechapel before. I've always heard from friends that it's a bit messy, but the actual living experience feels pretty good. It's just a little out of the way, but it's much better with the Elizabeth Line. This restaurant is in front of the holidayinn where we stayed this time. The store is quite large and almost full during dinner time. The atmosphere is very good, with the oven in full swing and the service staff coming and going, you can feel the energy here. I ordered grilled sausage with yogurt. You can choose chicken or beef here. I think this is the mixed version. The style is pretty good for a northerner like me. The salad is delicious~the bread is warm and the sauce is just the way I like it. It was my first time to try Turkish beer. It was quite refreshing, but a little expensive. If you don’t drink alcohol, soft drinks are reasonably priced. A Turkish restaurant to try.

Had a lovely meal from a walk-in takeaway. Good service and very quick (within 5 minutes) with good food and a friendly smile.

Looking for good food in a new area. The aroma drew me into this Turkish restaurant that has the friendliest of staff and a real traditional family feel.

Cold food plus Over an hour late .

Food was very good, had iftaar with my family. Booking over then phone. They reserved a tables and had set up the table previous to us attending. Food was very good.

Food was cold, salad was brown not edible

Food taste was as expected, however the containers with sauces and salads was crushed and spilled inside the bag, running into some of the other dishes, spoiling the taste

Good is delicious, but seems like in an afternoon hours everything is pretty hectic. Stuff don’t fully understand the orders. Waiting time for mixed doner takes ages. Takeaway orders are quicker than indoors.

I got a mixed döner for takeaway just now and when I got home to eat it I had to put it in the bin. It’s like half meat/half fat, and the meat thats edible is really tough/hard. I’m very surprised as I’ve been before and it was nice. You can actually how much fat is there in the picture. It’s insane-tastes really off! And the bread is rock hard-I’ve been before and it was not like this! Efes next time. The staff were really nice serving me but that doesn’t excuse the food!

Ordered on just eat: lentil soup, chicken soup, and cold mix meze. It tased amazing! Service was super fast, food was perfect temperature. It was very late at night (just before midnight) we didn't expect such a good level of everything! We were given extra bread and sauces. Such a shame there is only one of this restaurant!! We'll definitely order again whenever I have the opportunity!!

UPDATE 2025 In my opinion best Turkish Restaurant in Tower Hamlets. Been going here for ages. The staff are cool and always welcoming. Never ever had a complaint about the food. Friends have said about other places that are good but me personally I put Ruyam top of the list. Yeah it costs a bit more than your usual kebab place but the quality is definitely better

Honestly if your going to do Takeaway or Delivery orders please don’t buy it off this place. I ordered Lamb Chops and a few lahmacuns they were not bad but also not in a high quality but the worse was the Bread. When I usually go restaurants they usually give them small breads if you know you know also this bread wasn’t fresh and it was cold. Maybe they give special care for their dine in customers but not takeaway delivery customers so I advise don’t go honestly.

We’ve tried platter for four. Food was freshly made and delicious. Worth to try.

We ordered on just eats a large order for a work meeting, the order was excepted and had ample time to prepare before the scheduled time of arrival as was placed in the early morning for a 12.30pm.slot. The food did not arrive had to keep calling, was told they needed two drivers and couldn't deliver, then after 45 minutes of being late part of the order (rice, bread, salad and chips) arrived however still no meat. With further calling needed was told again they didn't know how long as again needed another driver. Just about to go and get the remaining order myself after it now being over 1.5 hours late, the remaining order arrived by now this was cold and most of the food had to be thrown away. Disgusting service we spent near to £200 and the restaurant was taking no ownership claiming it was all Just eats fault, however for me it's clear that the restaurant had zero customer service and equally thought it was ok to send cold food out. Avoid this place

Excellent welcome, we were taken care of like kings. There were 7 of us with a small dog, the staff took great care and worried about our dog. Fast service and delicious food. A good restaurant in the Whitechapel district.

The atmosphere is what you make it. I called in a week and a day before for a collection order. They were fast and had it ready. The inside looked nice for what I could see. The food was tasty, fresh, and seasoned well. I may dine in when I have the chance. All halal as well. I wasn't disappointed.

BEAWARE!!! READ THIS BEFORE GOING!!! They have two different prices for food items. I you eat in there are additional costs. We checked the menu outside the shop which displayed all food items at one price. Ordered the food based on that as we didn't want to waste time by looking at the menu. No staff or signage mentioned or warned about prices being different. Will not be going there again or recommending this place.

All good, nothing to complain about really Eaten in many Turkish restaurants in and around London, and this isn’t bad. Lentil soup was lacking flavour, and it felt like a packet mixed. Mixed grill a good portion for 2 and fairy priced. Not bad, but not the best. Your struggle to beat The Sultan on Roman Road for taste, but it's more expensive.

One of my favourite Turkish food spots. Food is delicious however staff was a bit underwhelming. I recommend the platter.

Got delivery. Terrible food. All the tastes are wrong for Turkish food. And wraps are almost no meat. I recommend to stay away from this place.

Amazing food and service! A beautiful place with really great grilled chicken and lamb with yoghurt. Reasonably priced. They have an alcohol licence too but I have not tried the cocktails. We were treated with a complimentary tea, amazing service, can’t wait to go back with my whole team!

Enjoy eating here. The food was really nice and tasty. We order something in Lamb and Turkish coffee and tea and something I can't remember now. For the first time, I tried Turkish coffee and tea. Both were perfect. My advice: Never drink Turkish coffee without a little bit of sugar. I did it and rest you can guess 🤣🤣🤣🤣 But overall all my dine in experience was really really good. The staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. Like their behaviour. Very nice people. The overall atmosphere was also nice. Thank you for giving us such a good experience. Hope to come soon.

Please please don’t don’t put the red rice you add with your food, delete it from the menu if you want to keep your customers 🚫❌ Just ordered a mixed kabab on Uber eats and it was a bad experience experience

Very small portion comparing to the price the naan bread was burnt too many sauce containers but not enough food as a platter. Very disappointed with the portion not enough for what I payed will not ever order again with them.

I went in with a few work colleagues and we ordered a mix plater, half of the meat was burnt. Most to all of the staff working at the restaurant hardly speak any proper English so it was difficult to make them understand anything. The chef finally came out i asked for his name which he then said Galib with the most rude attitude shouting saying he understands english when he clearly didn’t, he refused to acknowledge his mistake. It was extremely disrespectful and disappointing experience, this is the last time I will be going to such a horrible resturant

So far, the best meals I have ever had were at this restaurant. They place a high priority on hygiene, employ professional chefs, and offer excellent service. If your goal is to enjoy Turkish cuisine, there is no better place. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Just ordered lamb Donner in a box. it was dry, overcooked, smallest lamb Donner in a box I've ever had from this shop. I think it's run by new people. Maybe my last time there

This place was so good! I took one star off of service since they forgot my lentil soup but the server didn't seem to know English so that explains that. I ordered the Sea Bass which came w/salad as well as an additional side salad and I was glad I did, not because it wasn't enough food but because the flavors were very distinct. The side salad had a red wine vinegar that was absolutely delicious ( I dipped the bread in it) while the salad that accompanied the sea bass had a flavorful purple cabbage that made me a FAN. The fish was cooked perfectly, it did have bones but for 17 pounds, what do you expect? Great value for an excellent meal!

The description does not match at all what I received. There is no yogurt at all it’s just tomato sauce with kebab and some vegetables. Not even aubergine. It’s complete false advertisement.

Service/staff were pleasant and helpful. Chicken shish was tender and well cooked. Greek salad was a bit ropey but I ate half. Bread was fresh. Turkish coffee was very good. Turkish delight was old and tough but acceptable. Portions are good size. Chips are ok, nothing to write home about which was disappointing. Their chilli sauce is very tasty and not too hot. Overall nice sauce place and would revisit for a quick lunch but with so much competition locally, I wouldn’t go here for a dinner with the family, strictly lunch. 7/10

Food was disgusting. It came cold and the meat was rotten. Also, the bread was soaked in Greece. Definitely will avoid this restaurant in the future.

One of the main order (Lamp Chops)was missing, had to wait for my lunch for two hours, the restaurant asked me to make another order for my missing order to be delivered so I had to pay another delivery and service charge. I had to watch my team mates eating their lunch and had to wait for two hours for my lunch and by the time the meal arrived, I was no longer hungry which I hope you would understand. The mistake should be rectified with the refund
