Hungry Donkey in Tower Hamlets

Visited here as a solo diner last night. I ordered the souvlaki and Greek salad. It was delicious. I was in and out within 30 mins. Next time I'm on business I will definitely come home.

A super cute eatery that is worth the visit . The seating inside is limited but they have a good area outside when the weather is good. The staff were very friendly and the welcome bread with oil was a nice touch. We had the chicken thigh and pork shoulder and both plates were emptied. No complaints from us . Another nice touch was the sample dessert with the bill.

Just arrived this afternoon and walked by on way to ibis hotel. Open at 5 so went in, delicious food. But too jetlag to eat it all. For sure stop in

Below average.did not make me feel in Greece at all. Awkward place. We were alone and I know why now... It's not good and if you want to eat greek food and know what it is like in greece: avoid at all cost! We also Been charged for the mayonnaise that was absolutely not home made...contrary to what she said when we ordered. I would in any other greek place nevee have ordered mayonnaise by the way but the only things that was decent were the fries (and honestly they are bettzr elsewhere) and the falafels... Pita are not made to order basically the same quality as sainsburys... The sausage was meh.... And small for 7pounds!!! I was so excited to eat this fermented sausage I came for it and for the gluten free and dairy free option of the place. We took the lamb and the potatoes were proper disgusting we left them all. The lamb was ok nicely cooked but could not feel the spices at all. They were very careful with the allergens so I appreciated it greatly hence my two stars instead of 1.

Today when I come to your restaurant, the lady who wellcome people has looked at me very unfriendly way. She stared at my bag long long long time and no shame showing her irritation . I had a decent bag full of decent fabric but it’s not matter. What matter is starring INSIDE someone’s bag is rude. I’m not there for beg, I’m there for shop, after work and decent way, well dressed. She make me sit on the TOILET!!!!! All the table was empty but she thinks I deserve to wait my food infront of toilet!!! Is this how you treat your customers? I had a international call and ahe came immediately to warn me turn my phone volume down… are you running a restaurant or library? Everyone talking on the phone and I’m the one who bother you infront of TOILET!!!! I’ll write this experience everywhere, when you see a greek restaurant you can feel like you will be wellcome there with hospitality, what I experienced was not even close that.

We wanted a Greek meal and that’s what we got, I was concerned it would be commercial and not a great location but as we stayed on 5 mins walk away it was perfect location, as for commercial how wrong was we….. this independent eatery was perfect. Food was smashing the service was great and the open plan cooking and eating area was lovely. They even do delivery nation wide let alone deliveroo to the hotel!

Staying in the area, found this gem on Google and what a find. We had two dips and pitta, courgette fritters and spanakopita to start with, all delicious. Then stifado and the chicken with lemon and mustard, all lovely. A bottle of greek rose to drink, very good. Service was friendly, food was delicious, we ordered too much so got our deserts to take away as no way were we missing out on those. We will definitely be back. Thank you

Service was good, but I'd say the food wasn't anything special. I had the chicken souvla plate. The salad was interesting (carrot and cabbage), the rice was not hot, only luke warm (deposited on the plate long before the chicken was ready??), and the chicken was okay. Not really good enough for the price - £15.

Went for their new Sunday brunch after really enjoying the home kits in lockdown. Such good food! So fresh and tasty! Really enjoyed everything! Lovely little outside terrace and friendly staff.

Great service and food! We were absolutely full after but it was all so delicious. I had kleftiko which just fell of the bone it was so tasty and cooked well. I cannot fault the food or service. We would return again. Lovely enclosed outdoor area which was lovely for the sunny evening we had.

I had to come and leave a review, as everything we ordered was really good quality, cooked with care, well seasoned, tender, home made cooking. A bit pricey from Deliveroo, but well worth it. Thought I was back in Paros. Dont get these bad reviews, cos I grew up in Italy, in restaurants and I must say, the food here is excellent 👌 and the dessert!!!!! I live quite close by and regularly order food from this restaurant and am consistently very happy with the food and the service. I use their app which has a great loyalty points system. I love the moussaka but my new favourite ‘lockdown’ dish is the chicken thighs with brown rice and cabbage which is hearty and yummy and still feels really healthy. I also love everything they make with feta - less healthy but very good for the soul, especially with one of their lovely pitta breads. I was also pleasantly surprised by one of the Greek beers I sampled recently so will have to try more of those.

The experience was great, the staff made you feel safe and helped you with whatever you needed. The service was quick and did not have to wait long to order, to be seated or for the food to arrive. We was not rushed. It was nice to see how they have adapted due to coronavirus as they had screens in between each table area, they had the track and trace barcode on the tables and they had barcodes for the menu and to pay at the table.

Friendly welcome on arrival. Seated quickly at a patio table once booking was confirmed. Drinks also arrived promptly and the cool beer was most welcome due to the hot weather. We had a selection of small plates with a salad, which were mostly delicious. The spinach and cheese filo pastry was a tad dry and heavy but the rest was really good. Woukd return!

Massively overpriced for what you get. Food was tasty enough and the service was OK if a bit slow, but the price is crazy considering the portions aren't at all large and the food is neither Michelin-starred nor AA rosette standard. Would not go back unless they revisit their pricing strategy!
