Running Hare in Flintshire

Place was tidy, staff were friendly, beer was good as was the food, nothing changed still really good.

We had drinks here on a Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed our time here. The pub had a nice relaxed atmosphere, and we could sit where we liked (whereas some Marstons make you wait to be seated). I really enjoyed the Brightside rose wine, I have never tried this brand before. The food here looked great too.

It was busy but we got a table no 29. We ordered online, our drinks arrived quickly, starters arrived, very happy with these both hot & tasty. We then waited in anticipation for our mains. Some how I had managed to order hunters chicken with a salad instead of chips ? I d of thought it would of been as on the menu with an option to change it to salad if required ? I asked the young man if I could get some chips, he replued you ll have to pay for them, I wasn't expecting them free, but he could of gone back to the kitchen and organised it while i ordered them. I decided not to as my chicken would of gone cold while I waited. My partner had ordered a steak which arrived and look lovely but it turned out the only hot thing on his plate were the chips! He shared this info with a young lady who came to ask if everything was OK, she apologised and offered to take it back, but had this happened we wouldn't of been able to eat together which was the whole point of going for a meal so he declined. I ll let the chef know is what she said?? I d have told my manager personally 😐 but no one else came to us. We left un noticed and as it was not noticeable who was in charge I decided to let you know here we were very disappointed 😔

this is a warm, comfortable place with very attentive and helpful staff. They have an excellent menu which includes a carvery with a choice of four meats and of plate sizes. The meal are always nic and there is as an added bonus a nice enclosed play area for children outside. They will try toaccommodate any size group and table service is possible. For smokers there is adequate provision outside.

Pleasent staff clean premises and good value food. Greeted by I presume Manager (female) very pleasent she was dealing with a slow moviving couple but seemlessly passed us on to a young collegue. Went for the carvary decent quality food and all the staff were pleasent and professional. 30% off voucher made the food even better value. The Manger worked to room well with checking on guests and clearing tables. Good experience.

Good to go 2.50 don't bother a burger from McDonald's would of filled me more never ever going again what a waste of money good to go yea in the bin

Good food, friendly staff, good atmosphere

The carvery was spot on but the service was terrible, ordered a slice of cake to takeaway after our food, we were left waiting for a good 10 minutes while the staff behind the bar were just stood around talking, all young lasses talking about nights out and pulling lads… not very professional, I eventually said something then they brought my cake straight away, clearly no one had bothered to go get it.

Quick service at the bar , lovely waitress, fab food , I had Mac + cheese with popcorn chicken and partner had the donner kebab both lovely

Hi. We are regulars at the Running Hare as we live local. I wanted to give you feedback on a new item on your menu, the chicken kebab. The chicken was cold, i wasn't expecting that. It was also hard and therefore not easy to eat. The flatbread was dry and thick, more like a naan bread. This overpowered the filling. An overall disappointing choice. It wont stop us goi going back as we love the pub and the staff.

Haven't been to this pub for a few years as wasn't impressed in the past. Decided to give it another go as received a 30% off voucher. One star given because we didn't have to pay full price for a very disappointing meal and because no facility to just give no stars. Ordered Hunters chicken which was advertised as having mozzarella and cheddar cheese topping and bacon with chips. The chips were refried to the state of being like burnt crisps and almost cold. Absolutely inedible! Also no cheese topping. Part of star can be attributed to having at least a decently cooked chicken breast. I have limited mobility so difficulty getting to bar to address these issues as my husband was in a long cue at the carvery. Remember now why we stopped going to this pub and despite the further money off vouchers valid to 2.3.24 will not be going there again. With regards to comment from the owner, regarding advising of dissatisfaction at the time. A staff member enquired at the end of our meals if everything was ok. I did complain about the inadequesies of the meal then and was offered some chips but by then we were ready to come home. Too little too late. As said originally, because of mobility issues didn't have the capacity to approach staff. A table nearby was asked in quick succession three times whether everything was ok by two different members of staff, but not near enough for me to attract their attention. Unfortunately I was unlucky in the timing of a member of staff eventually checking on my meal. Maybe if I had had the opportunity earlier, something might have been rectified. However doesn't detract from a meal being served in such an abysmal fashion in the first place.

I'd happily return for another meal!

Haven't been to this pub for years and only revisited because we had a 30 % off voucher. The one star given is because we didn't have to pay full price for a below standard meal. Ordered Hunters Chicken one of my pub favourites. No problem with the chicken so part of the star goes to that. However, supposed to have mozzarella and cheddar cheese topping. No cheese at all only two very skimpy slices of soggy bacon. The chips were either rock hard or burnt to a crisp and obviously reheated. Remember now why we haven't patronised this pub for many years, and despite still having money off vouchers valid until 2.3.24. think I'd have to be paid to go back there. Very disappointing.

Friendly staff. Excellent carvery. Considering how busy the service was good. Staff helpful. Grandaughters really enjoyed their pudding.

We had a nice relaxing Saturday early evening meal. The table was comfortable for the 5 of us and the bar staff took our order at the bar with ease. Food was up to a high standard. The chips were very tasty. Steak was cooked just how we liked it. We were able to use a discount voucher which made the meal great value for money. Overall a nice dining experience thank you Running Hare.

Great food quick service, the fish and chips were really good Quite busy, but it was a Friday lunchtime, but there's plenty of room to get a quiet spot. A lit of tables had reserved on them. Photos added of prices feb 2004 check Internet for deals they often have discounted vouchers

This place is a little gem, the food is lovley the staff are so happy kind and helpful we came here for a carvery one day and we will be returning as often as we can at least once a week, it's lovley to find a place where you are treated with respect and welcomed along with nice food and also checked upon making sure every thing is OK, thankyou :)

It's a lovely place. Vegetarian options are a little sparce/faffy, but they do include vegetarian sausages as part of their carvery. Which is great.

I went here for a meal for my birthday with my husband, the meals were lovely as usual, we like going to this restaurant due to the carvery 7 days a week as well as the atmosphere in there, which is cosy and friendly, I have booked to go for a meal on mother's day, looking forward to it

Step into The Running Hare, where the ambiance is as warm as the welcome. The pub offers a decent carvery experience, showcasing a range of options to satisfy your appetite. While the overall dining journey might be an okay trot, the real stumble comes with their attempt at pigs in blankets. The pigs in blankets at The Running Hare were, to put it kindly, a bit of a letdown. The promise of succulent sausages wrapped in crispy bacon ended up being more of a stumble than a sprint. The flavors seemed to be running in different directions, leaving much to be desired. It's as if the pigs and blankets were engaged in a race of their own, each trying to outpace the other in disappointment. However, don't let the lackluster pigs in blankets deter you from enjoying the rest of the carvery. The pub's charm, friendly staff, and decent selection of other offerings might just make up for this culinary misstep. So, lace up your dining shoes, take a jog over to The Running Hare, and enjoy the overall experience – just be cautious around those pigs in blankets!

The place was busy even early on, however the waiting time was not long and when the food arrived it was piping hot and all around delicious. Really have no complaints. In terms of overall feedback would be good to see a refill option for soft drinks and more promotional offers as while excellent it does cost more than some rival chains, and the cost of living at the moment really does influence spending decisions. The feedback is not meant as negative as the overall experience was top notch and budget allowing will look to return again in the near future.

Good experience. Surprised at how expensive the drinks were and only one person behind the bar expected to take drinks and make hot drinks too with 6 people waiting at the bar. Very unfair. Food very good but starter of cheddar cheese and mozzarella bites were dripping in oil and very sickly. Best French fries I’ve ever tasted. Vegan thai red curry was stunning and husband said the spicy burger was the best he’s ever tasted. Overall great experience and we will be back.

Can always rely on a warm welcome, fast service and good quality, reasonably priced food at the Running Hare. We celebrated my Mum’s birthday so we were a big party of 17, but all needs were catered for. The hosts at the front door are always helpful, the bar staff manned the tills while it was busy to keep wait times to a minimum and the carvery was well stocked and good quality as always. We’re frequent visitors as live locally and we have always had a good experience in the Running Hare. Thanks for continued great service!

Had a Sunday roast to celebrate my daughter's 14th birthday. The carvery is always top notch, great atmosphere, and the waiting on crew are attentive, courteous and pleasant with us all the time. Sam was our section server today. Must say, he's a credit to the business. Couldn't fault the lad. Never stopped, always busy...look forward to our next visit, regards Dave Gilbert.

Had Sunday lunch with family and friends (table of 10 adults and 3 children). Most had carvery. Food excellent and plentiful. Very busy but not rushed.

Good place to eat and drink. Food top class and not top price . Staff very friendly and welcoming. Good offers on week day meals and the Carvry looks good . My self and wife went for Thursday special which was excellent.

Ordered and paid for a barbecue chicken burger actually received a southern fried chicken burger with fries, fries were like match sticks and very few of them not even upto McDonald’s quality wife was given a white wine which was undrinkable was like vinegar, quality of meals / food is terrible!!

From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed at the door, and taken to your table. The staff are excellent. The food is fantastic.

We use this venue regularly for family gatherings because it’s spacious and the food is always good. The carvery is the best around for the price. The food is always fresh and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

Yesterday I along with my two friends made a last minute online booking as two of the places we usually go to were full. To be honest after going to the Running Hare not long after it first opened, it was not somewhere on my list to revisit, however, I was very pleasantly impressed, staff were welcoming, courteous and attentive in just the right amounts. The food was delicious and excellent value, I honestly couldn’t fault any part of my visit, which these days makes a refreshing change. A place Is only as good as a person’s lasts visit and on that basis I will definitely be back. Well done to the Running Hare Team.

Had a small family get together, food was really nice, we had the carvery, I would of give it 5* not 4 but it was warm not hot.

Having been very satisfied previously with the carvery we were most disappointed with this meal, I have had the gammon which was plentiful and tasty, however this time I tried the beef, the Chef carved it so thin you could see through it and was almost tasteless, needless to say I will not be having that again. On Sunday the price was raised and was not good value at the price. we also went for the Christmas dinner before Christmas and there were no parsnips laid out. Sorry, but that is how we felt.

We enjoyed the meal and drinks but were a little disappointed with the atmosphere due to everyone clearing everything away around us as we were eating our meal. I completely get the need to be ready for next day but we were eating around 8.30pm which isn’t late and the one waiter was looking to remove my part finished bottle of wine despite it not being finished. Also he hovered around close by until we were finished it was very disappointing to my wife and I.

We visited the Running Hare to meet up with an old friend and have some lunch. The quality of the food was very good, I tried the ultimate spicy beef burger, wife had the fish and chips, we were really happy with the meals. Service wasn't that good though, empty plates not cleared away we ended up doing it ourselves. Overall though an enjoyable meal definitely will be back.

Hannah gave us her usual lovely warm welcome. The carvery was very nice, as was the vegetarian alternative. Bixing Day Update: Had a splendid dinner. Thanks to all the team for a great time

What a FABULOUS Christmas lunch today at the Running Hare Ewloe ! Lou, Rik and their team did an amazing job. The atmosphere was great , the food was first class and the staff were so very helpful and jolly ! Came today for Christmas diner with my family it’s was absolutely beautiful, only thing was the roasties where solid but all the rest of the food was beautiful even the mint chocolate snowball was delicious. Staff where absolutely amazing everything was so organised and brilliant well done staff and merry Christmas 10/10

A little chaotic when we walked in, people were shouting at the bar staff. The lady who showed us to our table seemed rushed off her feet. We had the carvery, which was good value for money. All in all it was pleasant once we were shown to our seats.

Food was good although a little cold, somewhat understandable as the staff were run off their feet providing a good service.

As usual lovely food. The Q for the carvery was extremely long and I'd suggest 2 carvers when so busy, but worth the wait.
