Rumwell Farm Shop and Cafe in Taunton Deane

I have been to the farm shop on several occasions, and this time decided to visit the cafe. The staff are so polite and efficient. I had a coffee and a snack, but was still treated as if i had spent a lot more. The whole place was clean and tidy, the food and drink arrived quickly and was of good temperature. I shall no doubt be visiting again!

Don’t buy a large! Ok you get a bigger plate but you still get the same amount of meat as a small! Rather pay the £2 extra for meal instead of vegetables.

It was a busy Sunday and we had not booked but they found a table for us. We were served by Patricia who was amazing. We had a 12month old baby with us and she could not have been more helpful. Really excellent service and so accommodating. Thank you for making our lunch time so enjoyable and stress free. The food was lovely.

I only usually only bother to give ratings if the place was good and recommendable. But this deserved one of my rare negative ones. Price first: Big Breakfasts for me and my pal at £11 each. Top end price so expectations were high. Sausages prepared earlier (clearly) and warmed to serve. You know when a sausage isn't freshly cooked. Very thin bacon, dry to the taste - again almost certainly been standing and kept warm. Beans are beans - can't do much to spoil those. One egg (in a farm shop) was stingy but admittedly poached perfectly, which saved the rating from being a one star. Button mushrooms tasteless. Half a tomato. One piece of toast. Generally meagre so no idea what a standard breakfast would consist of. For 11 quid, a coffee would be expected as part of the package. Not so. Couple of soft drinks. 33 quid the lot. Before the breakfast, I'd bought 6 asparagus in the shop....9 quid. "They're English". On the whole, I shall not be rushing back.

Great Farm Shop with lots of local products. Spotlessly Clean & well laid out with friendly & Helpful staff. Fresh & delicious looking produce….the selection of home made cakes & doughnuts were Amazing! We pre ordered doughnuts online & collected before we left which was a good job as they had all sold by that time. We also booked for Sunday lunch, the cafe area had a calm ambiance & was clean,bright & airy. We were soon seated & placed our order,we both chose the carvery. Good choice of meats &vegetables. Everything was cooked perfectly & the Roast potatoes were so good! Cafe Staff were super friendly & efficient which made for a nice experience & a lovely day out. will definitely be back again.

Once again I met with a group of long standing friends for lunch in the cafe yesterday Recently I’ve been a little disappointed with the quality and quantity of food served when visiting. However I have continued to visit and tried a range of food choices. Until yesterday I have found the food to be good/ acceptable. My choice of the smoked haddock tart left me annoyed. The plate of food was poor. A very small hard pastry case with a filling that consisted of 3/4 flakes of fish and runny sauce. A handful of salad leaves and a portion of skinny fries. £13?? I have no problem paying a good amount of money for good food and a reasonable portion. This did not fulfill any of that.

We were looking for somewhere to stop while on a journey to Cornwall and found this lovely cafe and farm shop. We were greeted pleasantly and seated quickly. Our order was taken and we received both our food and drink at the same time. The egg and cress sandwiches were ample and tasty. The others had cheese toasties which looked delicious. The chips were scummy. They were serving proper cream teas which appeared to be ample and delicious. All served with a pot of tea on a white table cloth. The farm shop sold great local produce with a deli and butchery. There is a small play area with toys tractors fenced off for the youngsters to run off some steam. We will be returning again.

Arrived in plenty of time for our 12.30 booking. We placed orders for 5 of us for a cooked lunch and then waited well over 1/2 an hour for our meals to arrive. Food was good when it finally arrived. We'd just ordered tea/coffee when we were advised that our table was required at 2pm. We only just had time to finish our hot drinks. Thank goodness we declined desserts!! Felt rushed.

My brother and I took my mum here for a birthday lunch… we couldn’t fault the food, it was absolutely delicious. Yes it may be a little more expensive but it is definitely worth it. The staff were really friendly and efficient and once the lady serving us realised it was my mums bday, she put a candle in my mums pudding for her 😊

We went for a carvery today and it was AMAZING. First time here and couldn’t fault it, food was delicious, the room was lovely and spacious, staff were really friendly and the farm shop was also fantastic. Will definitely be returning.

Nice coffee and selection of cakes, they have a small amount of gluten free and vegan options which is nice but could be better. What ruined it was the very slow service. Waiting to get seated, then waiting ages for our order to be taken then another long wait for the coffee.

Terrible service. We ordered coffee and cakes (awful selection for Mothering Sunday) Waitress said coffees were following. 20 minutes later no coffee and cakes finished. Asked for coffee and was told it would soon be out. Said it wasn’t her fault but did not expect to have to pay for coffee. In this instance would have expected a manager to appear. Nobody and when my son went to pay nobody had been informed that we weren’t happy. Such bad service and we normally come here regularly. Will be thinking very carefully in future about this. Went as part of a group for lunch , first visit. The restaurant was really busy and is clearly popular. A short wait for our prebooked table , all the staff were really pleasant throughout our visit and the service was very efficient. A great choice on the menu from light bites to main meals. Reasonable prices . The food quality was good as was the presentation . After eating you can browse the farm shop which has an amazing range of produce and gifts. Plenty of parking available.

Amazing shop and cafe for people on a gluten free and those who have coeliac disease. They have a separate gluten free kitchen and the baked goods are incredible! Huge congratulations to the chefs who make these wonderful products.

We have visited Rumwell so many times over the years for lunches, brunches and tea. On this occasion, we decided to pop out for tea and cakes just over a week ago (on a Friday). We arrived at 4.15 pm. We were swiftly seated. Our waiter was very friendly, he couldn't have been more helpful. There was a lovely choice of cakes available on the counter - sponges etc. However I was looking for something lighter and asked about teacakes or scones, but, whilst the waiter did ask, the kitchen would not permit this. I have to say that we were a little surprised - and disappointed. How difficult is it to pop a teacake into the toaster? The restaurant is open until 5 pm but perhaps from 4 pm not all of the menu is available. Best to check beforehand. We stuck to the tea and coffee.

Small had gluten free breakfast scrambled egg small nish of beans half tomato mushrooms and 1 back bacon 1 toast not even a sausage One small breakfast Two large ones dint want tomato or mushrooms but extra hash brown and they couldn't swop but they at to pay £1.50 each for them So 4 breakfast and five drinks came just over £62. Wasn't anything special bout it to make me want to go cafe again. But the shop has a great gluten free range from bread cakes and even frozen pies sausages and more

Rectangular plates ? We had a lovely roast dinner, plenty of veg, beautiful meat - cannot fault it …. However it arrived on a rectangular plate !!! Which made it tricky to navigate, a circular plate would have been much more practical

We held our awards evening with over 100 guests at the Rumwell. The staff were so friendly and helpful. It was a fantastic event made even better by the great food and fantastic facilities. We’ve already book in for next year!

We enjoyed a splendid snack lunch here on our way down to the South-west of England. The sandwiches were very fresh and the jacket potato and garnish both excellent. Extensive menu catering for all appetites. Excellent efficient service in a clean environment. Thanks to all involved.

I bought the most delicious sausage and egg bap from the food to go area. It was outstanding and cooked to perfection. The shop is brilliant and the staff are amazing. I will stop at this place every time I can.

We stumbled upon this cafe on route to collect something from Taunton so decided that we would stop for breakfast on the way back. The cafe is light and airy with modern decor. We were seated by a lovely gentleman and given menus. We were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices and ordered 2 breakfasts and 2 hot drinks when the very lovely & friendly waitress came over (a more mature lady, I'm sorry I can't remember her name). Food and drinks arrived swiftly and I can quite honestly say that it is probably the best breakfast we have ever had out! Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. There was also a choice of fried, scrambled or poached eggs and white or granary toast. We will definitely be visiting again when we are in the area! What a gem this really is. Called in there for lunch on our way to Devon. Not disappointed at all. Fabulous shop selling everything you would need. So good we had to have another lunch there on the way home. Had to go shopping there too.

We used this for our daughter's wedding reception, Sophie the events manager was superb and we opted for the venue largely because of her. The venue is now nearly complete and absolutely superb. The food was first class we had a carvery and as one of the guests found out all the food was local,fresh and top quality. The venue has air conditioning and superb sunsets. Visited at the start of the week and it was a lovely experience, my husband and I both are normally known as the “difficult” people to serve with one of us being coeliac and the other with a dairy allergy. However, the Rumwell made us almost spoilt for choice with our server Isabella appearing prepared and knowledgeable, answering every question we had and seeming to be very up to date on what we could and couldn’t have, reassuring us on the GF toastie machines which are new and my husband really enjoyed. Isabella also helped me make my mind up as I was torn between dishes, very friendly and the conversation made our experience enjoyable. Food was delicious and everyone was friendly - will be visiting again.

This cafe has recently had a makeover, and it is a really nice place o eat. We were here today for lunch, and the food was delivered promptly, and all the staff we interacted with, were polite and friendly. This made the event a very pleasant experience. We have eaten here before, and have always had a welcoming and accommodating visit. Today, we requested a table away from the large windows as i had just had cataract surgery, and need to keep away where possible from bright lights. The were extremely helpful, and placed us in a nice mid position booth. There is also a nice view of the rolling fields opposite. They have also opened a large extra extension area, which makes both areas less crowded, and therefore a more relaxed atmosphere. All the staff look good in their crisp black uniform, so we can make sure we are talking to the staff and not another customer. Unlike one other nearby cafe/restaurants. Food was nicely presented with plenty of choices. Prices are commensurate with other nice eateries, so no scary prices. All in all a very nice place to eat. Two of the staff, Debbie and Patricia were pleasant and helpful, and made us feel valued. Would definitely recommend, and we will be back soon.
