Not great, food cold, we didn't feel welcomed, rude staff, shame as used to be so nice. I would not recommend. The Old Inn which is in the village is much nicer.

Massive shout out for the Rugglestone Inn. The lovely Lisa looked after us so well this weekend. Friends rented the cosy but well equipped cottage and we had our MH on the carpark. Great food and drinks and a fantastic area to walk. Totally recommend it gets 5⭐️ from us but Lisa gets 6⭐️ for being special. Thank you we will return.

We love The Rugglestone Inn, this time we enjoyed their pies which were delicious - homemade just the right amount of pastry to filling, good gravy - we had the steak and ale with stilton cheese - definitely one to have again. The vegetables and choice of potatoes were excellent and everything cooked and presented perfectly. It is advisable to book a table here as very popular with locals - there is car parking but the Inn is easily missed so look out when you get to Widecomble in the Moor. Drinks are reasonably priced as is the food with a well stocked bar and good selection of beers, ciders etc. You always get a warm welcome here and we always make sure when out for a walk in this area that we finish at the Rugglestone Inn! Thank you for another excellent visit.

Lovely country pub, great choice of ales and ciders. Meals are of a high standard though a little on the expensive side. Atmosphere was good, staff are genuinely friendly, not too sure about the dead wall featuring photo's of deceased customers. Location is stunning on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, plenty of space in the car park, though I doubt this will be the case in peak season. This is a great character pub well worth a visit.

My husband and I stayed in the cottage in the grounds of The Rugglestone Inn. From start to finish of 3 days we were greeted with open arms from Rich, Ness and their team and treated like part of their family. Not to mention delicious home cooked food, kind, friendly and efficient bar staff. Prices reasonable too. In the cottage the bedding was clean and top quality. Very very nice. Obviously family run lots of love and care put into every detail. Definitely a must. Highly recommended.

At 7:45 midweek in Widecombe there’s limited chance of getting a meal, but with only 15 minutes left of service the Rugglestone made us feel most welcome finding us a table in the bar (although we didn’t book in advance) and served us delicious Pub food with great hospitality. Well, most definitely visit again and explore the lovely specials on offer, leaving a bit more time to enjoy it.

Visited mid afternoon on a Sunday. No hot food until 5:30pm 🙄, soft drinks a bit overpriced £4.60 for a bottled lemonade. Encountered 2 members of staff, one male and one female and both could have been more polite to customers (witnessed rudeness to other customers too). That said, it is a very pretty pub with a nice pub garden but we won’t be going back.

Arrived on Sunday for 4 nights (Recommend by a friend) for camping, pub and walks. The camping area is stunning and well kept, there is nowhere I’ve stayed quite as beautiful. The pub is just lovely, the owners and staff were lovely and attentive too. The pub was popular each evening and lunchtimes with locals, campers, people enjoying the area and the owners seem to really enjoy what they do and looking after guests. The food was excellent and prices very reasonable. I can’t wait to return soon, this is my new favourite place - shame I’m so far away.

What a fabulous evening we had at the Rugglestone. We parked up with our van for the night. Lovely food fish/meat pie, attentative staff. Ness spoilt me with a glass of wine following my faux pas in the garden, 🤩. I would highly recommend this lovely pub. The garden is so well looked after and wisteria flowers this time of year! It has moved on a lot since Audrey’s time when drinks were served via a hatch 😀

I live Dartmoor and central Devon - driving across to Widecombe-on-the-Moor I made the fatal mistake of relying on satnav which took me across many narrow Devon lanes .. very stressful - so was very glad when I parked up in beautiful Widecombe . A short walk out the village past the church to the Rugglestone Inn and sat outside with a pint of Cider on a nice day in the pub garden the stresses just melted away It is a lovely setting - the bar menu was excellent and the portions generous . I will go back to this lovely pub next time in Dartmoor - but will stick to the main roads

Everything about in this place is well run; the food, the garden, the beer, the setting with Widdecombe Spire and the Tors behind. We had a fabulous time. We meant to say thank you before heading off this morning but forgot, so hopefully this review will be read and our thanks can be passed on to the owners and all the staff for simply doing all the important things well, running a tight ship but still making it feel relaxed and doing it all with a smile.

Charming Dartmoor Gastropub offers a large menu and is extremely popular with walkers, motorists, and locals. Look for the soup of the day (curried parsnip on our visit), and crispy whitebait among the starters, and Luxury Fisherman's Pie among the mains (second only to J. Sheekey's).. Beers include a stress on real ales. Stiffer drinks include local Dartmoor Whisky (worth trying). Worthy of a diversion.

Very disappointing and unsatisfactory service. Table booked for 7.30, we were abruptly ushered to the table by a lady who made it quite clear that she shouldn't of been there as it was supposed to be her night off. Once all our party were seated, she then came to take our order notifying us that the kitchen closes at 8.00 for food! From there on the service was very poor, long wait for our food , finally got our main course at 8.45, puddings turned up at 9.40. Won't be returning for family birthdays again. Such a shame after many years of fantastic service. I believe it now under new ownership. They have big boots to fill to come upto previous owners standards.

Sadly didn't get round to ordering the food as we were met with a very rude response by the lady behind the bar - it was a busy Sunday (I understand that's can be a stressful time) I'd just ordered drinks when I'd thought we'd been given the wrong order - I politely tried to clarify which drinks we'd been given and I was met with a hostile response. My partner then stated that the outdoor covered seating had been taken and she was met with "what do you mean there's no outdoor seating!" We decided to leave after this response. Big shame as we've previously eaten here and had a good experience. Kindness can go a long way.

We were a tad early for food but the two lovely ladies behind the bar served us drinks and sorted a table before taking our order to have it ready as soon as service was on. 5 awesome Beef and Ale pies led to 5 clean plates, washed down with a great selection of local beer. Proper country pub, friendly staff, same people been there for years. Beer straight from the barrel, good food - the steak and stilton pie is excellent. There's a stream that runs between the pub and the garden, you go over a little bridge to reach the tables in the garden. There's often a few unusual ducks and chickens roaming around. Not much seating indoors, so book a table in the winter. Don't be put off in the summer by rain - the sun shades on the outside tables are both large and waterproof.
