Ruby in Fareham

Food is nice but the reason why I rated it a 1star Is because hygiene rated 1/5 so me personally I'm NEVER having it Again SO DONT HAVE IT!!!!!

I used to love the food from here……. What has happened? Ordered 2x sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style with 2x egg fried rice, and mini spring rolls. I had spent 9 hours cleaning so I was starving. The food arrived on time but it wasn’t anything like before. It was disgusting!! Horrible! Didn’t taste like sweet and sour at all, spring rolls were bendy and cold. It is just not good enough, cost a lot of money and it is now lining my bin after 3 mouthfuls. Go somewhere else and save yourself from taste bud hell.

Excellent takeaway for 6 preordered on website and arrived on time - we had a wide range of food which was all hot and good quality

Bad food. Old oil. Horribly greasy. Soggy. Poor flavour. Food late, too cold, water in the bag. Meal spoiled. Waited over an hour for the disappointment.

Ordered a delivery. Didnt arrive. Called but said it was on its way.......via China 🇨🇳 I assume. Over an hour and a half and called back and told them not to bother. They said that their delivery driver had not arrived. Sorry but not my problem. Never used since

This used to be our go to Chinese take away but boy has it gone downhill. We ordered chicken prawn balls cooked in batter. All we could taste was old cooking oil, no taste to the chicken and the usual sweet and sour source. Also ordered was crispy beef, again no taste, not very crispy and a very similar sauce to the pork balls. Next was roast pork with ginger and spring onion, pork was tough and cut very very thick, again no taste, ginger was cut so thick you could not chew it even if you wanted to. We also had some egg fried rice which was good. We paid a little over £22.00 for a very poor meal of which most of it went into the bin. Last time for us. Richard

Just had the worst Chinese takeaway, the special chow mein didn’t have much flavour, all the meat was boiled and tasted sweet, the Singapore chow mein didn’t have much flavour or spice and the chips were far from fresh. Won’t be going back!

Average food but quite acceptable, however if you order on line the order jumps straight to the foodie app and the prices are 15% dearer that phoning Ruby directly and delivery is free over £15!! For us the difference was over £5 saving on a £25 meal!!

Ordered takeaway from rubeys Chinese portchester .Wasn’t what we ordered .Food was awful full of grease no taste to it .When phoned up to complain women on end of phone was very rude .Want give a refund ...Warning do not play a order with these takeaway ...

Part of the order was for Fillet steak in black pepper sauce , we counted 27 pepper slices and only 7 slices of "fillet steak" , which was tough and shaped exactly like the beef in the chow mein. We doubt it was fillet steak.Overpriced and tasteless

Ordered a takeaway which was over 39 minutes late. When it turned up it was Luke warm and the food was bland and greasy. Never again, it was also overpriced compared to other takeaways. I will stick to Canton Express in Fareham. Very, very disappointing.

Had Singapore chow mein from here and it was really good. We ordered and the food came a lot quicker than we thought it would. We also had a duck curry which was nice too. Will use this place again.

Food was below average...anyone who consider themselves to have taste buds should most definitely avoid. Not worth the money at all.

Wouldn’t recommend this Chinese at all. We had a take away and it was shocking. Chicken balls over cooked on the inside and pink inside. Special request ignored and then quibbled over refund. At first only wanting to refund half - when I complained then only refunded £9 instead of £9.70 for the items I complained about!!

The food arrived late, and cold, and when I called to ask where the food was, it was very difficult to understand what was said.

Chilli beef was good, they sent lemon chicken instead of orange. Overall, it was ok!

Always loved the food from here but it has sadly gone down hill, I stopped buying in the summer because we were not happy but thought we would give it one more try.. no different, cold horrible chips, pancake soft and cold, curry sauce had a weird film on it. It is not a cheap option to eat takeaway food so in future we will go to the local and eat

Added 30 mins to time and was then still another 20 mins late on top of that plus food was cold

Been using Ruby's for many years hence why I always go back, tonight's food turned up late and feeezing cold, tried to sort it out with just eat and got no where, 80% of the food went in the bin and they offered a £5 voucher!!! DO NOT USE RUBY

Easy to order menu is set out great. Food was amazing we ordered way to much but still enjoyed it and the portions were big filled the tubs up. Delivery was outstanding we ordered at 7.50pm and got it around 20 past deliver was set for 8.45pm Definitely order again!! 😁

Everything good apart from prawn crackers being missed. The delivery man checked in his van and said they weren't there and it would take over an hour if I wanted him to go back and get some.

My boyfriend and I regularly order from the Ruby, almost always getting a £3 special each. In this deal you get a takeaway pot with rice, chicken balls and chips with a choice of sweet and sour sauce, BBQ sauce or curry sauce! Such a tasty, filling meal for an absolutely fantastic price! Would 100% recommend!

Absolutely terrible, food was late called the restaurant they apologised said the food was ready but were short on delivery drivers .. I said surely the food will be cold?? He assured me it wouldn't be .. food finally arrived 40 mins later than the time it should have been here and it was cold! Surprise surprise! Don't think we will use these again! They could have atleast updated the time so we knew it was going to be late and if they knew they were short on drivers they shouldn't have cooked the food so early!!

I ordered food for 5.55pm but shop added 25mins and told me food would be delivered at 6.20pm. Food arrived at 5. 55pm so technically arrived in time. Food very good. Different menu and think there must be new owners or new chef.

The pork balls were a surprise when found half were chicken half were pork! The beef rice was also very disappointing and won't be ordered again

Not bowled over their hot and sour soup however there's nothing wrong with it that a bit more seasoning wont fix. Everything else though is better than the rest of the chinese restauraunts on here, spring/pancake roll is crispy throughout with a nice filling... need more wraps for the duck though but sauce is enough and salad is fresh. Well priced for the amount you get. Its very good food, not saying wow food but very good and as i say much better than the others on here

Appalled, we order our meal and only half the order arrived. I called the restaurant to enquire where the rest of the order was and was told that they would get someone to bring it. 25 minutes later I call the restaurant again as the rest of our meal has gone cold, the guy who answered was rude and arrogant and basically did not give a dam about his customers. The rest of our meal finally arrived 45 minutes after the first initially delivery. I do not recommend and will certainly not visit again!

I was happy food arrived earlier as when I initially made order Ruby put 20 minutes extra on delivery time but they made up for it by bringing it early. Food was hot and delicious. Will order again

Food was delivered early and delivery person very polite. Ordered a king prawn curry,.. the prawns were under cooked. However all other food was spot on. I did order a Pepsi/coke but that was misplaced in my order and I did not receive that.

Poor delivery over 1 hour 45 minutes. Food was just warm. Putting under new management is a really bad decision. Shame on you ruby!.... Shame on you!

Ordered not long after 7pm didn't get dinner until 9.35 no updates given. By time.food turned up most of the famuly had gone to bed. When we started the food we had been given the wrong dish which had prawns in and 3ned up having to throw away as we are allergic to seafood. We ordered pork Singapore noodle and ended up with pork chicken and prawns it was only luck I saw it before my mother are it otherwise we would have been in the hospital. We order from Here a lot and never had such a bad experience of delay for the food to be delivered and also the wrong dish nearly eaten by my mother who is allergic to this. We never order seafood dishes and am shocked this happened. Have wasted 4.60 on a dish we didn't get and had to throw away the one we did get. Please make sure this does not happen again as it's a waste of money to have to throw out food we didn't order.

My food was late cold stale and ended up in the bin very disappointed

Would not order from here again - delivery took over two hours and when the food did arrive items were missing. When calling the takeaway for a refund I was told that no one in the shop knew how to issue a refund and that the owner would call me back, I have still not received a phone call back and now have to chase them again. Awful service, will not be using again.

The food was nice and very fast delivery (came 30 minutes earlier than said). Only negative was that we thought the food portions were on the small side (especially the bag of chips), and no free prawn crackers which many restaurants offer when you spend over £20. But we enjoyed the food and would order from them again :)

Despite arriving early, parts of the food were cold (so I reheated it) but it was also pretty bland. Kinda disappointed.

Absolutely horrendous service, can't comment on the food as never got to try any of it! So glad I was going to pay with cash, if you order from here do not pay by card - you will be asking for a refund. Food was over 2 hours late, arrived after we'd phoned to cancel the order and they expected us to pay full price so they were sent away again. If I could leave no stars I would! Will not be using again.

Told food would be delivered by 8.15, this was then changed to 8.30 and I called at 8.44 to ask where the food was.

Great Food, poor service, waited for 2 hours for delivery, when called them, they just replied, "it's on its way" and put the phone down, 30 mins later, it arrived!! Shame as it's great food!!

Can't fault the food. However as soon as I ordered the restaurant added 20 mins to the delivery, bear in mind I ordered at 19:50 and it said delivery was 20:45 so it changed to 21:05. Didn't arrive at 21:05 but instead arrived at 21:30, 25 minutes after the delivery time they'd already moved by 20 minutes. Meaning from ordering to delivery it was 1 hour and 40 minutes. Slow delivery.

There was a little mistake on the order which was sorted out fast - brilliant service and great tasting food

Real shame about this place as we had heard so many good things. Hour and a half wait for food, when called to find out how long it would be the woman on the phone was very rude and there were no apologies. Thankfully when the food arrived it was hot. Chow mein was like a microwave meal, most of the food bland. One of our guests found a prawn on their plate despite us only ordering chicken and beef dishes. Very scary considering one of our other guests has a shellfish allergy. Says a lot about their food hygiene/contamination. As I say a real shame it didn't live up to expectations, will not order again

The prawns were soggy and tasted of nothing, the chips were hard and were the consistency of cardboard, the lemon chicken tasted like medicine.

This was the second time I have ordered as it is quite a long way from us. But that couldn't of mattered as the food was first class and on time. Would definitely use again.

We order a lot from this Chinese take away and the food is always great quality and prompt delivery. It's our go to take away.

Didn't send the rice with the curry, tried phoning restaurant but it just rang and rang without an answer! Chow mein was awful. Never again.

Horrendous food service and delivery. Food arrived 25 minutes late after the time they confirmed it would arrive. Food sweaty and lacking all flavour. The "chow mein" was literally boiled noodles, few thin fatty slices of pork and some beansprouts, no sauce or flavour. "Crispy beef" was soggy, wet and in a sweet sauce not spice. Prawn toast should be renamed, sesame seed fried bread. Called restaurant and was advised that they would not refund. Pushed the issue and got told that they would come and collect it in 40 mins and then would refund the money, no apology or compensation for being left with no food and an awful experience. Staff were rude, aggressive and put the phone down. Contacted just eat who advised that the restaurant wouldn't deal with them either and so they could only partially refund. Horrendous experience and only giving one star as forced too!

Was charged delivery charge when I shouldn't of been charged to pay by card order arrived quick but didn't match email I'd received. Food had to be warmed up and both dishes tasted the same.

Ordered the food between 8:30 and 9:00 expecting it to be here at 9:45 but arrived at 10:30, not only did it arrive massively late, the food was really cold! Been using Ruby's Takeaway for a long time and never had such a disappointing dinner. Didn't even get an apology from the driver for the delay. Never again.

90 mins to deliver a fairly poor and bland Chinese. This restaurant used to be good but has gone downhill rapidly. Won't be ordering from here again.

Have ordered from here a number of times and the food is always hot when it arrives and very good quality plus you get so much it can take you over 2 or 3 meals well worth a try in music book

Prawn in Worcester sauce. The sauce was too ston and nothing else detected in stir fry.

As always the food was excellent... However on this occasion one item was missing. After an apology i was assured that it had been sent out and would be with me soon, it never arrived. On a separate issue, i was told that prawn crackers were free on orders over a set amount. It appears this is only true if you order by phone or over the counter, booking online does not give this option.

Food was almost cold after waiting 1 and a 1/4 hours for it tried calling to find out where it was and phone always engaged. By this point we were so hungry we ate it coldish if I reordered I would defo just pick it up. Food taste was good tho

Delicious food and quick and friendly service. Only downside is the food had a deceased fly on the outside of the packaging as well as another fly on a prawn cracker. Apart from that all good
