Food came out uncooked, and greasy service was poor. Failed to bring the naan which then led to the curry becoming cold after bringing out my curry out the second time. Naan came out almost 15mins after the food. Wouldn’t ever step foot in this place. Cheap food, cheap quality.

Came here on a recent business trip (found it on Google maps) - actually pleasantly surprised at the no alcohol thing. Felt I had to try the custom Balti - went for the Keema balti with cauliflower, it was lovely. A very pleasant experience, will return when in the area next.

First time eating here it was a lovely experience. Lovely decor and atmosphere friendly staff. Food was hot and delicious had the biggest keema nan we've ever eaten. Would definitely recommend to our family and friends. We look forward to returning and trying other dishes. It was a real bonus to find out that if you write a review the reward is a free desert. Thank you guys!!!

This is our second visit and just as great. We were visiting from Brighton and had originally seen the restaurant recommended on Facebook on a gluten free group. There are so many choices and a great knowledge of gluten free food. All the food was delicious! Service was speedy and very friendly. We would highly recommend!

Great restaurant with amazing food and lovely staff. The menu is impressive and the large naan breads are HUGE! Good value for money.

We booked for 7pm but arrived very early at around 6pm and we were warmly welcomed in and seated by the window. Despite being the only two people in the restaurant the whole time we were there (this was a Tuesday), we were given attentive and friendly service. We started with popadoms - as you do, so far, so good. Skipping a starter we went straight into the main courses chosen from the "Dad's Secret Recipes" section - I had the Lassawalla Gosht House Signature Dish (a slow-cooked lamb-on-the-bone dish, while my wife went for the Machle La Jawab (marinated cod). Both were deep, rich, perfectly seasoned and cooked. But the star of the show, though, was without doupt the best chapati we have ever eaten! This was buttery and crisp with multiple layers that tore apart for mopping up the delicious sauces. As for drinks (The Royal Watan has a no alcohol policy), my wife chose the strawberry daquiri, while I had the Virgin Mojito and a mango lassi. All delicious. All-in-all, a wonderful experience. We would thouroughly recommend, and will certainly dine there again without hesitation.

With the restaurant Royal Watan (the Royal Kingdom), Does it live up to its regal title? Spoiler alert: this kingdom deserves a crown! Our large party of 25 (featuring impatient adults, a grandma with 21 diagnosed conditions, and kids vying for constant attention) arrived ready to eat and test their mettle. The owner greeted us warmly, ushering us to our seats with the grace of a monarch himself. He even saved us a hefty £60 parking fine by advising us of being illegally parked. We leaned heavily on his expertise for ordering, and boy, did he deliver. The starters took a little longer than expected, however the delay gave us the opportunity to catch up as a group which rarely happens. When the sizzling mixed grill arrived (with surprise complimentary samosa chaat), the wait was forgotten. The meat was grilled to perfection—juicy, tender, and seasoned with just the right flair. Our carnivorous cravings were satiated, while even the herbivores in our group were treated like royalty with surprise extra veggie mains. After obliterating the starters, the mains had arrived. The lamb and chicken dishes were delightful, although there was a slight overenthusiasm for peppers in a couple of them. Nevertheless, the balance of flavors and the hearty portions left us nodding in approval. We were just about ready to leave when the owner intercepted us with a final act of generosity: a round of delightful desserts, on the house. If we hadn’t been smiling already, this gesture ensured we left grinning ear to ear. Royal Watan specialises in Kashmiri cuisine and has been serving the community since 1984. With service this impeccable and food so well-prepared, I am sure they will be reigning supreme for many years. Verdict: This kingdom is well and truly deserving of its title. Long live Royal Watan!

My father planned a new years meal for my family and I. We spent some time choosing curry houses in Birmingham and when we came across Royal Watan our search was over. We knew this was where we wanted to spend our first day of this blessed year to follow (god willing). What we did not know was what was to come when we went to royal watan, we were greeted like we are royalty which makes sense of the name now. Not only was the service like that of royalty but the food was good enough for the king and his family. I from this moment on will not eat anywhere other then royal watan where I know I will always have the consistency I so desperately crave. Thank you to Imran and Arfan for this amazing experience it has started my year of perfectly.

We were passing through the area from London and decided to stop at this gem of an Indian restaurant. What an incredible find! The food was absolutely amazing – bursting with authentic flavors, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. Every dish we tried was a delight, from the starters to the main courses. The spices were balanced perfectly, and the quality of ingredients really stood out. What made the experience truly unforgettable, though, was the service. A special mention has to go to Eman, our waitress, who was outstanding. She was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her friendly demeanor added a personal touch to our evening. If you're ever in the area, this is a must-visit restaurant. 31.12.24: My family and I travel from Bristol every few months just for the balti and service. We have also taken friends who have also enjoyed their food. It's nice to be welcomed so warmly like an old friend, well i suppose we are, especially as my husband has been coming here since 1988. The food has always been outstanding along with the friendly, efficient service. The family size naan is our favourite accompaniment with our baltis. This establishment is a bring your own alcohol but they do serve soft drinks and you always get bottles of water on your table which are replenished throughout your meal. It's nice to have the choice to bring alcohol if you wish but I'm quite happy with water or soft drinks. I look forward to our next visit.

Always walked past but hadn't ventured in until today. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere despite it being busy with several large tables. Food was lovely, some unique dishes and house specials - but even the traditional ones seem to have a twist. Will be back soon I think!

Good service and very good quality food, tasted freshly cooked from quality ingredients. Unique amongst many other examples of this cuisine. Do not sell alcohol, but invite guests to use the very handy local off-licence nearby and provide glasses and bottle openers as required.

Always was and still is the best, even after a spell away it still felt like home. Top curry and great to see you all again 👍
