Adam's in Birmingham

I visited Adams yesterday (23rd April) with my wife for our Anniversary. We had the 7 course tasting menu. Wow. Just wow. What an incredible experience. We were taken on a journey with interesting, exciting dishes. The wine list is incredible, and Seb's knowledge of the wine is second to none. His recommendations were perfect. The service is the best that we have ever experienced. What a place. It comes with a price that you would expect, but you really are getting something that is second-to-none. We enjoyed every single minute and every bite. Thank you!

Bold flavours, artful presentation and amazing service! The chef is unafraid to experiment with tastes that ensures your buds are in for an unforgettable ride. The service has to be mentioned especially where the priority is a satisfied and happy customer. If you have dietary restrictions they are willing to try and cater to your needs. Definitely a jewel in the Birmingham restaurant scene!

While Adam's may tout itself as a Michelin-starred establishment, my recent dining experience left much to be desired. From the moment we stepped through the door, the atmosphere felt stale and lacking in any semblance of warmth or character. The décor was uninspired, resembling more of a corporate office lobby than a fine dining establishment. The service was equally disappointing. Our waiter seemed disinterested and rushed, providing minimal explanation of the menu and displaying little knowledge or passion for the food being served. Throughout the evening, we felt neglected and overlooked, with long waits between courses and an overall lack of attentiveness from the staff. As for the food itself, it failed to live up to the lofty expectations set by its Michelin star. While some dishes showed promise in terms of creativity and presentation, the execution fell flat. Flavours were often muted and uninspiring, with overly complicated combinations that failed to harmonize on the palate. Ingredients appeared to be of decent quality, but were overshadowed by poor cooking techniques and misguided flavour pairings. In summary, Adam's may have a prestigious reputation, but my dining experience left me thoroughly unimpressed. From the lacklustre atmosphere to the mediocre service and underwhelming food, it failed to deliver on its promise of a memorable fine dining experience. Save your money and seek out a restaurant that truly deserves its accolades. :(

Just insane. Crazy attention to detail. Food beautiful. First day of new menu but a hugely polished experience from start to finish. Staff delightful. Thank you for an awesome experience.

We went for lunch in January and had a fantastic meal. The snacks and little deserts are always delightful at these kinds of restaurants and they were delicious here. Every course was wonderfully well presented and the flavours and textures were amazing. The staff were really nice. Personable and friendly, making it more relaxed and not too starchy and formal. Would definitely recommend.

Food sublime, so many layers of flavour and texture, a real delight. Highly recommend the menu. Generally, the service was as expected, very knowledgable about the dishes and efficiently provided. However, during one course, the waitress leaned across my meal whilst I was still eating to take my side plate. I felt very uncomfortable and my space somewhat violated. Then at the end of the meal, we waited over half an hour to a) get the bill despite asking twice and then b) get someone to take the payment. Overall, I would say I hope this was an unusual experience as everything else appeared very well rehearsed and on point.

Hair in my food not once but twice and on the second occasion told it is just a cloth fibre as if it made it a little bit more acceptable one of the waiters had a bad attitude and the amount of leaning over our plates and not to mention the time we sat around 3-4 hours because staff seemed stressed and unsure what to do music was awful and the food was not very nice left feeling as though we had been robbed

We went for our wedding anniversary and was not dissapointed. From the service to the food, the experience was brilliant. We went for the 7 course tasting meal, as we do not eat certain foods, we requested our dietary needs which they catered for. As I stated we were coming for our anniversary, the sent me a special menu where you can purchase balloons, flowers or cakes, which was a lovely touch, the wife was pleased when the flowers came out. Of course, being a Michelin star resturant, the food was delicious, I would defo recommend coming.

We have been visiting Adams for 9 years once a year and this was the first year we sat at the chefs table , the entire evening was perfect , well presented great food and wine overlooking the kitchen was a additional fantastic experience. We had an amazing meal, could not falt it in any way. Service was impeccable and friendly as well, would certainly recommend it.

As ever, a great culinary experience. We did had the seven course taster with wine. OK, it cost an arm and a leg but iw was worth it.

A truly excellent experience. The service staff were attentive and friendly. The food was beautifully prepared. A few particular favorites (if I have to choose) were the Potato Tart, warm Sourdough Bread, Ginger Trout, Bream, Skate on the Bone and the Apple Sorbet on the Brauburn Apple.

Arrived to two sauce bottles congealed with gunk. Gave to manageress who replaced 3 mealsRed but just wiped top of brown. Undoing brown still congealed inside. Sausages tough, tomatoes cold mushrooms cold and how they forgot a breakfast is unbelievable. Ordered 3 meals. Mum had to wait because they weren't organised. DONT GO HERE

Dec 23 Absolutely knock out service, couldn't fault a thing. Perfect attention to detail. Taster menu sublime, especially the rabbit and rum baba courses. A wonderful couple of hours, totally chilled, the perfect treat to mark the end of the working year. Thank you! (Dec pics and menu from image 11 onwards) Sept 23 4.5/5. Dined here last evening for birthday/anniversary celebration. Second visit in four months. The tasting menu was varied and interesting, see pic. They accommodated my OH who doesn't eat red meat or chocolate. I've only docked 1/2 point as both dishes for one course were served tepid (lemon sole/lamb) the lamb was also chewy. (I offered this feedback and was offered another dish which I declined). I'm also not a fan of unisex toilets. The service synchronisation was a little hit and miss such that the spacing between courses was inconsistent. Our aperitifs were slow to arrive which then cut into the wine time. All this does not detract from a lovely evening. But often its the attention to detail which makes the difference, especially for a high priced evening. Will definitely return however. Thank you for the greetings cards on the table.

We had a lovely meal at Adams. As soon as we entered the quality of service shone and we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. That high level of formal, but relaxed service continued throughout. We threw in a couple of last minute dietary requirements and it was no issue.The food was of a high standard and thoroughly enjoyed by the whole table. I have to say though, for me the front of house staff really made the evening.

Top notch food, top notch service, top notch place. (Only thing I didn’t quite get was the marmalade with fish but it’s probably just me and my tastebuds.)

We had an exceptional experience on our first visit to Adam's. The staff were very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, and the tasting menu with wine pairings interesting and diverse. The kitchen dealt seamlessly with my wife's tree nut and egg allergies, adapting dishes where appropriate. The atmosphere is delightfully relaxed and stylish, and we would not hesitate to recommend Adam's and to return there on our next visit to Birmingham.

Unbelievable 😍 my first Michelin experience and it was even better than I was expecting.

Disappointing - having eaten at lots of Michelin restaurants, I was very excited to be visiting Adam’s, having heard good things. Sadly, our experience was far from what we expected. From the moment we arrived, to a half empty restaurant, we we made to feel very uncomfortable - like we were a big inconvenience to the staff. My wife mentioned to a waiter that it was my birthday, to which we got a sigh, he walked away (no words, no comment), only for him to return 5 minutes later, drop a card on the table and walk off - still no words or anything. Very odd. We even mentioned that we felt uncomfortable to the head waiter, who just stared at us…. For this reason, we chose the 5 course, not 7, so we could leave sooner. Food - average, definitely not worth £105 each. Overly salty, and nothing to write home about. The squab was actually pretty bad, I couldn’t finish it. If you’re in the midlands, there are so many much better places to visit - Lichfield has some great places (Upstairs, The Boat), head up to The Flintlock or Lunar at Wedgwood… anywhere but here to be honest.

Delicious lunch, special mention for the halibut and the strawberry dessert

We had a working lunch here, the service was impeccable and the food, with perfect portion sizes, was stunning. The quiet ambience of the restaurant was perfect for running through the days business. I can't praise the establishment enough.

We had the 5 course lunch menu and it was a real treat. Each one had so much flavour. There is a 3 course option but the meals aren’t huge so that might leave you a little hungry.

Birmingham is blessed with an abundance of good restaurants Adams is truly great and by far the best. Every aspect of the experience is exceptional from the food to the service. It's a must visit.

Overall great experience. But my problem with Fine dining will always be the portion size. Unfortunately it's too little but everything that was served was delish.

OK meal and service eas good, but not very happy with being served larger out of a can when the bill was close to 400 pounds for 2 people and it's meant to be a michelen! had better meals for half the price

Lovely staff but dated interior and terrible overpriced food. How on earth did they get a Michelin star?

Masterclass in dealing with disruption. I've been to Adam's a few times now and the food & service needs no introduction. However, when visiting recently, there was an unfortunate timing of a rather meek animal rights protest where people occupied tables and held up some laminated signs showing chickens on fields or some other such nonsense. Dealt with absolute professionalism. Meal continued unabated with zero disruption. Covers that could be moved were relocated to the back of the restaurant. They were short of tables for four but it didn't really matter for us. Staff did not appear flustered and no drama. Police removed then with minimal fuss. Initial drinks comp'd and staff very apologetic. Considering what I appreciate was probably a very stressful situation for the front of house staff, we still had an excellent meal. When everything goes right it's easy. When things are difficult, good staff really make the difference. If anyone is put off by the recent news about activists targeting fine dining restaurants, they need not be concerned about it here.

Just wow. Food was amazing. 5 stars because I can not give it more

Pleasant atmosphere, good service overall, but slightly underwhelmed by the food, which although flavoursome lacked the wow factor. The portion sizes are small - a teaspoon of mash was served with well cooked halibut, the lamb was good but again the portion was stingy. The desserts were not impressive - the sticky toffee soufflé was eggy and the dulce chocolate was nothing to write home about. In summary it was all a little too pretentious and overpriced.

We had the 7 course tasting menu with wine matching as a treat for our wedding anniversary. Everything about our visit was superb from start to finish. The quality of the food is excellent and each course was matched with an interesting and well considered wine. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and contribute to a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. If you spend this kind of money you would expect to leave a restaurant full, satisfied and wowed. We left hungry, confused and I suppose full of laughter from what we experienced. Maybe we aren't used to this kind of dining but it overall was not a good experience. The food was pretentious and not up to standard. Presentation was great but you need to combine that with a really satisfying result.

Serving staff in the Main restaurant were friendly and helpful at all times , food was of a high standard as you would expect from a restaurant of this quality

Fully enjoyed the experience, we had the five course tasting menu with three wines to accompany the dishes. Presentation and flavours were excellent and staff very helpful with our questions about the dishes and helping to choose the wines.

What a superb restaurant, but to totally enjoy the experience you do need deep pockets. Food is sublime, amazing flavours for the most discerning palates. I'm a fan of new world wines and the list represents good value.

We've been to a few Chefs tables, but this one was the worst!! Overpriced. Dishes nothing special. Some dishes that were supposed to be warm were cold. When chefs came to the table, they spoke a few words and then rushed off. One chef went round the table serving some sauce,he served my husband then went past me. I had to ask him for mine after he'd served others. There was no atmosphere whatsoever. One chef was saying to the waiter,'Never mind them (us at table) serve upstairs first(restaurant)!!! Service was very poor. We had to wait nearly 50 mins for desserts ( that was what my 2 * rating was for,not the other dishes). Most of the Chefs were to busy cleaning down(obviously, that was more important than serving us.. the customers!!) We'd heard a lot about it and thought we would try it. It was so disappointing that it didn't live up to the expectations that we had heard. We had been looking forward to it for quite a while. Would never go back and certainly not recommend.

Not a single minute went past where i wasnt being checked on, my water topped up, someone walking me to the restroom, or being there to push my chair under when i returned. Every waiter/waitress was so attentive and on the ball. Food was beautiful too! And the service was even better. Stunning night, 10/10

We visited Adam's yesterday evening and can I start by saying I am their biggest fan and have been many times before and firmly believed it to be one of the best restaurants in the world. Not any longer unfortunately, it now seems that they are catering for the Instagram crowd by creating themes and dishes that look good in photos with less emphasis on creativity and taste. On our tasting menu for example we were served celeriac three times with the same sauce three times, not creative and very boring it looked good on the plate though. The service was erratic, sometimes rushed and sometimes too slow and I had to sit with my coat on as it was chilly inside. Our visit last night was the worse we've experienced at Adam's and felt as though we had been 'done over' having to pay £350 for average food that looks good on Instagram. What a shame.

Was so looking forward my visit to Adams. Had the taster menu at £90, it contained a couple of amazing dishes but the remainder were well pleasant. However, I did not go to Adams to experience pleasant. Noting I’m not a “tight ass” and I’m not that hard to please either, my conclusion is the food on this occasion did not hit the mark, for example the duck breast was raw. I've eaten at Mitchelin star restaurants before and Adams seems to hit the mark for other dinners yet my feeling on leaving ... brief experience of wow yes but ultimately underwhelming and overpriced taster menu, which left me still feeling a wee bit hungry. Perhaps also, the restaurant exuded a little bit too much pomp for me.

I think Adam’s is a great place for a special occasion where you want a ‘high-end’ experience. The staff are very professional and knowledgable and really add to the experience - the food is beautifully presented and you also get some snacks before the meals and to take away after. The tasting menu itself was really good however I do think it’s fairly similar to other places I’ve been to which offer a similar menu style. As mentioned, I think the experience itself is 100% worth the price and I would definitely recommend it

Birthday evening spent at the chefs table consuming the delectable tasting menu. Lots of attention to detail, brilliant atmosphere and incredible food. Loved every minute.

Had a fantastic lunch here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As we were lunching we went for the seven course tasting menu and a carafe of white wine and a glass of red rather than having the wine pairing. Each of the courses, and indeed the snacks, were delicious. Real standouts were the quail and the pumpkin custard dessert. Each dish was a brilliant mix of textures and flavours and beautifully presented. Service was great and we even got a little bottle of syrup each to make calted caramel coffees. Another fantastic experience at Adam's and hopefully one we'll be able to enjoy again.

Just perfect! We’ve been wanting to come here for so long, one thing and another plus covid has meant it’s taken a while. The setting is beautiful. Staff were amazing and the food exquisite! We’ve loved every moment thank you to all. We’ve celebrated an anniversary with a memory to remember, thank you ❤️

We had a fantastic tasting menu last week at the Chefs table. Brilliant food and attentive staff. A particular shout out to our sommelier who was amazing. The Ducru-Beaucaillou was spectacular 👌

Great lunch menu with friendly staff.

Worst dining experience in a very long time; if you’re looking for poor food, awful service and a ridiculous price tag - this is the place for you… Restaurant is dated inside and looks like an office from early 2000s. On arrival we were rushed/hurried to our table and seated within seconds. Spent over £450 on taster menu and drinks, the multiple servers we experienced over all of the courses were clueless and unable to explain what they had placed in front of us, then would leave immediately. Atmosphere felt stressful and panicked. Food was incredibly poor and a 2/10. Categorically not worth the insane price point. Taster Menu was average at best. Michelin star not deserved. Couldn’t wait to leave. Would never return even if it was free. Trust me, don’t waste your money.

We went as a party of 4 and had the tasting menu ( around 7 courses) that was extremely well plated and very tasty, small portions as you would expect but perfect, we had red and white wine both excellent, cocktails and nibbles, spent 3hrs there and would recommend to anyone.

My first visit to this restaurant, booked by my husband for a milestone birthday! What a lovely venue with extremely attentive staff. Started with a cocktail in the bar, I was a bit chilled having had to walk round the corner from the taxi as parts of roads closed to vehicles to accommodate the German Market, I had a Rum based cocktail! We all chose the tasting menu and enjoyed the amuse bouche before the main event started. All of the courses were beautifully presented and the taste combinations were superb. I don't usually take photos of food but the dessert was so pretty,I changed the habit of a lifetime! No complaints , we shared the celebration with my son and daughter in law who had never had a tasting menu before. The portions are small but perfect for most of us. I guess my son could have eaten it all again!! No good for the heartiest appetite but just right for me. Delighted to see so many people dining on a Friday lunchtime too. Don't think there's as much of a financial crisis in this country as the media would have us believe. Recommended to anyone wanting something that bit special.

Absolutely breathtaking! I went for a birthday treat to my partner and I can just say that I haven’t had this level of service for a while. Everyone is very helpful, knowledgeable and polite. In regards to the Tasting Menu, I have discovered flavours that was completely foreign to me. Thank thank and thank you for making my partner’s birthday one to remember.

Dined here for lunch earlier this week. The 3 course plus a number of items as 'snacks' from the taster menu. Everything as anticipated competently executed. But lacked the 'Wow' factor.

Lovely restaurant, keep it for special occasions, this time with my children👍 food impeccable, service top shelf, and wines to accompany first rate. All in all the best dining experience for Birmingham by far!

Lovely meal (so long as someone else is paying the monster bill).

Technically very good. Chef had a good pallet. My Wife enjoyed the wine sampling. A bit nouvelle cuisine: small portions. Expensive, but I think everyone is changing a lot just now. It was my Wife's treat and she enjoyed it, so job done.

This was our first meal out with our, then, 5 month old baby. We were so well looked after by the staff - even though we were running a little late, the staff were gracious and kind and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, the meat was so tender and the decor was superb. What a fantastic meal out after ages. Thank you to the team at Adam’s for being so wonderful

Very nice venue with great food and service

From start to finish, we were blown away. By the end of the night, and the end of our 7 courses (plus all the extras they give you) we could not decide on our favourite. Every single thing we ate was gorgeous! We were encouraged to get more bread to mop up the sauces, which was great as there is no egos or pretentiousness, which you do get from some high end places. Service could not have been better, with the courses well paced and well portioned, and attentive staff who didn’t intrude unnecessarily. The cocktails were probably the only let down of the night, being okay, but nothing special. It is so far beyond worth the price, and as the menu changes so often, it is fair to say we will be back. It is definitely a place for a special occasion, and makes for a very enjoyable evening (we were there just over 3 hours) It is a place I will not forget, a few courses will probably stay with me forever, being some of the best food I’ve eaten.

Birthday lunch at Adam's and my first experience of Michelin Star dining. The service, the atmosphere, and of course the food were all first class Had the three course vegetarian lunch menu, but, with all the little extras that are brought out non stop, it really is value for money at £45 per head Felt really welcome (they even had a birthday card waiting for me on the table) and can't wait to have the whole experience all over again

I have experienced nothing like it. Absolutely outstanding!
