Royal Thai Taste in Crawley

Food was amazing. But it took so much time to arrive.so had to wait for a whit but a great place to visit with family. Staffs were friendly as well.

There were hardly any customers when we turned up for our early evening booking. It took nearly half an hour before our drinks order was taken - my wife suggested we left - I wish we had! Our order was finally taken & eventually arrived. I can take slow service if the food was worth waiting for - it was not. Thai food is generally reliably good but this was not. I have no idea if we were unlucky but will not be returning to find out!

Three of us went to this restaurant as I had called in advance to ask what vegan options there were. I was told that there were lots of tofu vegan dishes. When we were in the restaurant and I asked the same question I was told that all of the Thai curries contain shrimp, so are not vegan. The only vegan option available is Pad Thai with tofu, no egg. This was quite tasty, but on the sweet side. We specifically went because I thought I could eat the curry. My friend's rice only arrived when he had nearly finished eating his duck curry. There are no vegetable side dishes. The ambience and décor are fine.

Terrible service had to wait 15 minutes no one came round to take our orders had to go and ask them to take our orders. Half the mains turned up some of us were waiting for other half of the meal to turn up!! Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place

Came in without a booking o Sunday night and there were plenty of tables, the restaurant is split into two areas so I guess on quiet nights they use the smaller area which is more intimate, and keeps the atmosphere busy. A good selection of authentic Thai dishes, not the widest menu but I think that's a good sign, and what they do have is excellent, three curries and a Pad Thai all tasted great and better than most Thais we've been to, thoroughly recommend!

The food was really good. Large portions and generous amounts of meat, fish, chicken or vegetables. We came at a busy Saturday evening, but we’re met with smiles and good service throughout the evening. Highly recommended.

Went with my two children. Nice enough man taking the orders but he forgot two starters. Chicken pad Thai was best, the chicken in the satay starter didn’t taste like real chicken. Was v average, maybe the best of a bad bunch of restaurants in this area - the words of the taxi that dropped us! Nice people, food ok. But v average for the price. Wouldn’t return

Sunday 25th June and we visited this restaurant for dinner. We have been here before and regard each visit as a treat always with delicious food. On arrival we were shown to our table in main section of the restaurant, we normally sit in the annex bit nextdoor. Similar decor, but still interesting to look around and enjoy. We ordered a Thai green chicken curry and Pa-Neang Chicken and two portions of jasmine rice. We also ordered two small bottles of Singha beer. When served our food was well presented and more importantly it was flavoursome and delicious. It did not disappoint. The total cost of the meal and drinks was £41.89, this included 10% service charge which was included in the bill. It might sound a bit expensive, however, it is sometimes it is worth paying a bit more to get the best.

The food here is so far from authentic Thai and the service was very poor. No flavour or spice, bland and barely warm. I would not recommend it at all.

Booked this restaurant on strength of reviews for family dinner before my mum and I went on trip. As we do not get to see her very often these reunions are very important to us. As we walked in the man at entrance could not find our confirmed reservation which might have given us a sign? .. but they found a table in the back. The rest of the quite big restaurant seemed to be reserved for a birthday party .. which seemed why everyone else’s eating was squashed in the first room? We ordered a few starters and mains. Starters came out and we were actually enjoying. We were left a long time between starters and mains. The cutlery was changed and my mum was told she would not need a side plate as the sea bass she ordered did not need one. Then the waiter came and awkwardly explained that there was a problem with the sea bass my mum had ordered 1 and a half hours earlier .. they had run out. They had used it up on food deliveries and other customers.. they gave menus to my mum and wanted her to pick food straight away. As they did this they were serving our mains so we would no longer be eating together which would not be right at all! My mum felt awful so we decided to share our what we had already ordered. Both waiter and waitress did apologise but the explanation did not make sense at all but they seemed to think it was perfectly fine to not let us know one of us had no food till the last possible second and leave us in that weird situation. Basically that caused my my mum and I both not to really eat at all and was a conversation stopper! We asked to speak to restaurant manager at end of meal but the waitress that had been serving us said that was her! Which was a shock as she had not acted like a manager during meal .. did not really seem to know menu! They said they would take service charge off the bill and strangely take off the fish which had not received which seemed obvious but after we said they had basic ruined our night with the nonsensical whiny apologies they begrudgingly took off another 10% off not particularly cheap bill! Due to this bad communication between kitchen and FOH and bad customer service I would def not recommend going to this restaurant.. you are not guaranteed your food even when you ordered 1 1/2 hours ago!!!!

Had wanted to visit for some time as it's consistently listed as one of the best restaurants to visit in Crawley. First trip to a Thai restaurant, although we have frequented many local Chinese restaurants. The overall experience was good, the food was very tasty and we had great service. It just didn't make me go, "Wow!!" In the way I thought it might.

Xmas do with 13 friends, staff were brilliant, setup our table with Christmas Crackers, so welcoming, we opted for Christmas set menu B, it was delicious and plenty of it (doggie bagged some massaman for my lunch next day), we love dining here, never disappointed...excellent

100% enjoyed the experience at Royal Thai. First I want to thank the owner who made such an effort to ensure that my partner had a birthday cake, which was a surprise .On top of that the food was the best Thai food I’ve had and 100% approved by my partner who lived in Thailand for years. I can say it’s authentic Thai food.Although we couldn’t eat in the restaurant, they made sure I was warm outside by giving me tea and very hot food. The outside area was also clean.We live a long way from the restaurant but I will drive 2 hours again next time I want to eat Thai food .Thanks again Royal Thai and all the best with the restaurant x

I came in to Royal taste at 5.30pm when there was only one other couple there. I sat with my partner and baby son. I was Brest feeding my son when the waitress came over and asked for me to cover up. I said it was alright I was shielding the view with my coat but wasn’t uncomfortable. At that point she went to pick up my sons coat to put it over my sons head. I explained to her I was ok. She went on to tell me that other customers might not be comfortable- indicating that the man across might not be comfortable. I then told her that it was natural for me to feed my son. I felt so uncomfortable that we told her we would take our food to go instead of eating in. The food was lovely when we got home but I was so embarrassed and angry it really spoilt the evening.

This is a fabulous local restaurant that serves great food every time. The service is polite friendly and prompt. The food is always fresh and superbly tasty. This time we enjoyed roast duck in red curry sauce with pineapple, mixed tempura, ginger stir fry chicken and spicy noodles with prawns. All beautiful! Will be back soon!!

The design and décor of Royal Thai Taste is wonderful. It's all shiny hardwood floors, stone highlights in the walls and driftwood ornaments. The lighting is bright enough that you can see but dim enough that you feel like you're in your own little bubble when you're at the table. With all the coronavirus drama, the tables are neatly spread out, bare of items (the staff provide them once you've ordered), one way signs and the staff themselves wear face shields when serving. They are polite, patient and keep an eye on how you're doing without being too in your way. Food is delicious! I feel like it's easy to find cheap and quick food from the area that is Southeast Asia in Crawley, with its huge diversity, but this is certainly not that! It's full of flavour, fresh and piping hot. My mouth is watering just remembering that satay chicken starter! A red curry and tamarind duck was for mains, both rich in taste and vibrant in their presentation. I should have taken more photos! The prosecco I ordered came in a small bottle and it was crisp and fresh, not too dry. The same went for the white wine my friend ordered. We didn't have dessert, but next time we will for sure. I look forward to going back!

Second time we've been to lemon grass and they have delivered to a very high standard! They staff are very attentive and very friendly... now let's talk about food I mean wow the lamb shank is amazing aswell as the jungle curry(if you like hot currys of course) dessert is lovely my favourite is the pancakes with coconut filling! Definitely recommend to go there if your ever in the area 5 stars all the way!

Really great place! Veg spring roll & squid for starters large portions, prawn curry and pad Thai, beef pad thai. The portions are large. Very tasty and service was great. £58 for food including drinks.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant - delicious meals and the staff are lovely & attentive, been lots of times and thoroughly enjoyed it every time! My favourite place to eat out by far for the whole of Crawley!

The food here is lovely and there is a wide choice of dishes. The drinks menu was also decent, with plenty to choose from.

Nice contemporary decor, good service, great food. Spice level can be chosen for individual dishes which was great.

OMG what a beautiful restaurant the food is delicious the staff are so friendly and helpful easy access for anyone close to the town centre so easy to get to by bus train or car free parking out front if you can find a space had my birthday/wedding anniversary celebration there and was spoilt rotten

Me and my wife stumbled upon this little gem over 5 years ago we now will not eat Thai food anywhere it is a 45 min drive away but it's so worth eat great atmosphere very friendly staff and we have pretty much had everything on the menu and have not been disappointed once 5☆ all day long

A smaller than usual menu but sparkling and tasty. Tamarind duck and pad Thai seafood and green chicken curry all excellent when shared since flavours wonderful and intense. Phoket shared starter also unusually varied. A must to visit if near Gatwick

I made a booking for 6 people - when we got there they said there is no booking! when we eventually got serve after sitting at an unstable table the foods was not serve together...two of my friends started eating there meat dish without the rice we asked twice where is the rice before it came..... There was a rude waiter who did not want to walk to the other side of the table to serve instead he kept stretching over. The food was okay. I would go there again out of choice!

I ordered the king scallops for starters and they were so small (about 2cm diameter) I could barely see them on my plate buried in lots of salad and not large and served in a shell as in previous photo on here. Very disappointing! I queried this with the waiter as he promised when he took my order that there would be 4 on the plate. I just got some waffle... The steamed sea bass was watery and not very hot. The chicken satay was ok but the satay sauce was a another letdown, thin and bland. On the positive, salt and pepper squid was nice, the duck was crispy and the tamarind prawns were lovely. But I am not going back...

Lovely atmposhere and interior. Service was quick and efficient once we captured their attention. Menu looks great. Starters were good, but found our main courses were pretty average and bland.

I came for a nice birthday meal with my friends and family. I left in a ambulance. After warning the waiter that I have severe allergies to coriander I order the prawn started and ended up on the floor having a severe allergic reaction to coriander. of which 999 was called and I was briskly carted of to hospital, where I was told that if it wasn’t for the fact I was carrying my Ventolin I most likely wouldn’t have made it to Sunday. After being pumped full of drugs I then had to make my own way home from hospital by taxi at 2 in the morning with little cash . And had not eaten. I’m extremely angry and will be having conversations about this in the coming days.

A very good Thai restaurant. Restaurant very busy but the staff were very helpful and friendly. Good choices on the menu, with some more Chinese choices for those who want them, we Had a meal for four with mixed starters, very good, clean, fresh tastes. The mains didn’t disappoint either, the jungle curry was really tasty be with a nice bit of Phad Thai was the best I’ve had outside of Thailand. Would happily go back again

The building in which the restaurant is situated is the oldest in Crawley, it forms part of a former coaching inn called the The George Hotel. The restaurant consists of two public rooms and is a very intimate setting. The food and service is excellent once you have 'decoded' the menu. All in all, a great experience, albeit not the cheapest in Crawley; but then you get what you pay for at the end of the day.

By chance we came across this restaurant and got a table for 2 on a Friday night without difficulties. Service were quick and the Curry Lamb was really fantastic. The Fried Noodles were a wee bit sweat ... never-the less good value for money and great service with a smile.

We ordered scallops which were nice and a platter with a mix of things not related together.

we had the a different set menu each and all of which was excellent so much so we ordered extra items from the set menu that was too good .Staff was friendly and helpful to explain and choose the dishes which we did and did not regret.

One of the best Thai restaurants I've been to in the UK. The restaurant is cosy, the staff are friendly and the food is absolutely out of this world with generous portion sizes! You will walk away totally stuffed but wishing you could eat more, it is THAT good. I am looking forward to our next visit here, where I'll be ordering dim sum to start, thai green curry and coconut rice - all incredible taste sensations.

When we stay at Gatwick we usually go into Crawley High Street for a curry, but this time we wanted to try something different so we went to the Royal Thai. Staff were attentive and the ambiance was lovely! Food was amazing and couldn’t fault a thing. We will be back in the future for sure!

Ordered a take away to be collected. Because parking is an issue in town we agreed a time it would be ready for collection. I arrived on time but the food hadn’t even been started. After a 20 minute wait I got handed a bag of food that wasn’t what I ordered and was clearly someone else’s. As I waited some more I could see someone taking rice out of the rice steamer and checking how hot it was by sticking his finger all the way in before then deciding it was OK and shovelling it into bowls to go out into the restaurant. Eventually I received my order and drove home. On eating it, we found the food bland, there was no spiciness to it at all (I like spicy food - but am by no means a ‘fire-eater) there was none of the wonderful flavours I’ve had before with Thai food (coconut, lime, chilli etc etc) the curry tasted a bit like the gravy you’d put on your Sunday roast and again there was no spicy heat to it at all. To top it all off, both the Mrs & myself had a nasty case of the ‘Brad Pitt’s’ the next day. We might’ve just caught them on a bad day, but I won’t be going back there anytime soon.

Had a quick meal for 4 on a Sunday night, the place was pretty empty but the food was excellent and authentically Thai. Service is quick and friendly and menu fairly typical of a UK Thai restaurant, so no surprises, but no disappointment either.

Everything we ordered was just perfect. Could not faulted in anyway. Lunch package was perfect. Highly recommended!

Came to Royal Thai enroute to Gatwick airport. We have a wonderful meal with good service. Really good crispy duck Penang curry and pad Thai.

Had stay over at Gatwick and looking for local good food. Reception on welcome was good excellent, then great food and service. If you have a stay over at Gatwick and don’t mind venturing 10mins away this is highly recommended.

We have just eaten what I would say is the best Thai available. We thought we had the best Thai restaurant near where we live but this knocked spots off of it tenfold. Beautiful fresh food and lovely staff. Just wish it was a little closer to home as I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Well done to u all. A very big 5 stars from us.

We visited this restaurant a year or so ago and it was superb. We went again last night, booked for 7.30. When we got there, it took 5 minutes before we were seated and then half an hour before our drinks orders (wine and water) were taken. The wine turned up a while later, one of our two glasses had lipstick around the edge so we asked for a new one......

Visited this with a bunch of friends for a birthday celebration. The food was really good and very generous portions. Service was spot on and they even gave us cutlery and plates to cut up and serve our own cake without questions. Highly recommend the Phad Thai with sticky duck!

We went for dinner before going to the cinema, my 3 daughters and I. The food and service were exceptional. We all shared several starters. Tempura prawns, satay chicken, spring rolls, salt and pepper squid and prawns. All were fresh beautifully presented and delicious. Each main course was magnificent. Restaurant was busy plus lots of takeouts. A gem. Would recommend 100%

Did not know of this restaurant before but visited for a family gathering. The food was well prepared and tempting; not the usual run of the mill. My only criticism is that for a table of seven it was disappointing that our food could not have been brought altogether. We were served with half the starters and then waited for quite a while before the rest was brought which we had to chase. Similar delays occurred on the main course. However, I would certainly return and try again as the food was good.

Tuesday 9th April and we made a return visit here as we were staying the evening in Crawley and we rarely miss the opportunity to have dinner here.

An independently run local Thai restaurant that served nicely cooked dishes, reasonably priced from a menu offering some choice. There are two seating areas with only one in use to serve the limited number of diners when we went. Pleasant décor, and attentive and helpful staff. It is highly rated on TripAdvisor and that seems appropriate.

Eating alone as on a business trip, this place was very quiet so can’t comment on speed of service. It was a very western restaurant set up table wise with Thai decor, food was clean tasting and fresh. Dumplings were perfect and the crispy duck curry with sticky rice was amazing. Portions were generous and staff were friendly. Would change nothing.

After saw good reviews I booked a table to celebrate mother's day and a birthday. I was so embarrassed because foods was average and service was slow as so many tables started at the same time.

My husband and I ate here using their lunch menu - 2 courses for £8.99, which has an excellent selection to choose from. We tried the tempura vegetables and the prawn toast as starters - both very good. For our main I had vegetable Pad Thai - which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the Prawn Penang and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely return and I highly recommend it (it also has the top Food Hygiene rating of 5).

I booked this restuarant for my mum’s surprise meal on Friday 1/3/2019 and I’m glad I did. The service and food was topnotch. The waitress we had (Joy) was so sweet and even bought out a special birthday treat for my mum. Thanks again for making my mums birthday special.

Really nice food here but it lacks any real authentic spice. I can’t fault them on the service (a very well run operation) and it had a lovely atmosphere.

Nice food, but quite atmosphere but unfortunately livened up when had finished dinner (20.30), as more people arrive. Would of thought you would of seen more Thai people serving but only 2. Shouldn’t moan really because the food was lovely and at a reasonable price. I would recommend the Royal Thai taste as it did taste great.

After spending 3 months travelling Thailand, I had been struggling to find authentic Thai food that tastes just as good....until now!

We decided to go for a quick lunch here at Royal Thai in Crawley. They had a lunch deal for £8.99 which included a starter and a main.

The food there was very delicious. Definitely plan to come back and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Saturday evening 10th November and we were staying the night in Crawley in the Travelodge, just down the road, so there was no doubt that we would end up here for dinner, in our favourite resturant in the Town.

We were staying in the area overnight before our vacation to Malta. We was bowled over by the warm greeting and helpful staff, they explained the dishes we we're interested in and was very attentive, we asked if they could open a restaurant in Nottingham as it was so nice. Thank you again and would go again if we were in the area.
