Went for Sunday lunch 2 adults and 2 children, staff were very friendly and attentive. Large portions of food with plenty of meat and creamy cauliflower cheese. Portions were so big we couldn't finish them.

Went here for Sunday Lunch by mistake. Looked like a pub that didn't do food. But boy, they do. They do the most delicious home made meals. No processed food in sight. Home made puds too. Staff are all young and dead friendly. Good banter with them.

We had heard that the Royal Oak did a god Sunday lunch so we tried it for ourselves yesterday. All we had heard was spot on. The staff were friendly and attentive, the pub clean and welcoming. The food was very well cooked - my wife had beef and I had pork and both were great. The portion sizes were right - generous, but not too much. The vegetables were lovely, a good selection and all well prepared. The prices were incredibly competitive and the best we’ve seen. The beer and wine was also good and well priced. ALL in all a definite five star pub for Sunday dinner and a place we would return to.

It’s really hard to find somewhere that does a decent Sunday roast, but the Royal Oak has definitely met expectations. Lovely food with a brilliant service and excellent value for money. And right on our doorstep!

This is great little pub, cosy and friendly with a nice atmosphere and very nice food. This was our 3rd visit and we ate this time, only had drinks before. We went for a 3 course Sunday lunch and my daughter had the children’s Sunday lunch. The value for money was fantastic, the food was all fresh and tasty and the beef & Yorkshire puddings were soooo nice! I had homemade apple and raspberry crumble too which was lovely. The beer on draft and red wine were also good. Staff were very attentive and made us feel welcome, the new buzzer system is such a great idea now you can’t just pop up to the bar. We will be back and will bring more family when we can 😊

Popped in for a meal tonight as we wanted to try somewhere different. What a little gem of a pub. Had a delicious meal from start to finish. Mussels were tasty, my lamb shank was delicious and my husbands lamb and leek pie was tasty too. Generous portions size and lots of fresh veg. Finished off the meal, with Sticky Toffee pudding which was a crummy. Nice atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, attentive but didn’t rush us. Only shame is they don’t serve hot drinks would have liked a coffee or tea to have at the end. Would definitely visit again.

I visited the Royal Oak with a small group of people. The pub wasn’t busy at all yet we had to wait a long time for the food. Which when it came wasn’t great. The response we got when we told them that the food wasn’t nice was very vague. This is a great shame as we have been previously and it was great. Unsure if there has been an ownership change but won’t be in a hurry to return

Cannot complain about the portions and the quality of our Sunday dinner.Lots of fresh vegetables and superb meat.We had Chicken and pork dishes as they had run out of beef due to us not getting there till 5.30 and the kitchen closes at 6pm and it was all cooked perfectly. Will be back as the quality is great and the staff excellent.

Had meeting in function room at back of pub with food provided. The room was ok but the food was very poor. It came late, the portions were stingy and food quality low. Get your own caterers as this spoiled what was otherwise a good evening.

We took my mother here for a Sunday lunch and the food was absolutely delicious. Lots of fresh vegetables and loads of gravy. The meat was cooked to perfection and the homemade Yorkshire puddings are to die for. I cleaned my whole plate and even had dessert which was equally as nice.My mother even commented on our beautiful the food was and coming from a Lady who cooks a great Sunday Roast. Zach and Reece and all the staff do an amazing job. A lovely pub with a lovely atmosphere.

We popped in with our children last week as we had seen the new menu was advertised on Facebook so thought we would give it a try and we have eaten here half a dozen times the past few months and the food has always been fair for the price. We wanted fries which they were sold out of along we 2 different main courses we wanted. We opted for a pizza which was massively overdone, beef that was awful and dry and a chicken in giant Yorkie. The chicken was bland, the Yorkshire was like a frozen one that had been in too long and had the flavour cooked out of it but the mash was nice! We like the thought of local food but it didn’t taste like it was fresh food or if it was it wasn’t cooked well. We ordered nuggets and fries and pizza and fries for the kids but they only had the triple cooked chips which were really fatty. The pizza was dry nuggets ok. We ordered ice cream for them which never came. We did complain to the waitress who was lovely but just said sorry. Never offered any refund or offered to cook something fresh. As a 4 we left 3/4 of our food. Sadly we won’t be eating there again. We can see how much effort the new owners are putting in with the different events and it would be lovely to have a nice ‘local’ with the old fashioned atmosphere to drink in and go for tea. Also there was meant to be a new menu earlier this month but looks to be the same but with some pizzas?

We waited an hour with our children for Sunday Dinner only then to be told they hadn’t put the order through! Then came back to say no beef left! That’s when we had enough and left. I left a factual review on Facebook only for the manager Zach to slander me on Facebook by saying I’d sworn at a member of staff which I absolutely hadn’t I’m guessing to try to bully me into removing my review. I messaged the manager my contact number to discuss it like adults but he hasn’t contacted me surprisingly.

I could’ve cooked a roast dinner in the time it took for ours to be served. Worst Sunday lunch I have ever had. Waited 40 minutes after ordering to then be told they hadn’t actually got what we ordered. The food was poor bland and the meat was inedible it was so dry and over cooked. Never again. Go to any other pub for Sunday lunch not this one.

We had our Wedding Reception in the Cabin at the back of the pub on Saturday and it was fabulous. Right from the initial booking months ago, Zack and Reece could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The day before we spent a few hours dressing up the room and they popped in periodically to see that everything was OK. We had roughly 40 guests and for this number, the Cabin is perfect, though it would still work for more than 40 guests. The Cabin has its own bar, toilets, DJ facilities, dance floor and air conditioning which helped as it was so hot. The bar staff were really friendly, helpful and worked hard - and had realised before we did that we were running out of cutlery (we used an outside caterer) and used some from the pub to keep things running smoothly. The outside area is great as people can pop in and out as they wish and also use the pub as its so close to the Cabin. Some venues insist that you have their own food, but not here if you wish. Everything was very relaxed and it was the perfect afternoon/evening and went a huge way to making our day even more special. The DJ, Phil who often works at the Royal Oak for other events, was brilliant and met with us prior to discuss the music we liked and how we wanted the reception to progress. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and compliments were flying about the venue and also DJ Phil. I cannot recommend The Royal Oak/The Cabin enough! Jo and Curtis Freeman

On opening the door you get a friendly greeting and a well kept bar. The Peroni was lively and the Guiness deep dark and soothing on a hot Bank Holiday Sunday. The Sunday lunch menu had four meat and a vegetarian option. We had a beef and a chicken , served with roast potato carrots peas sweet corn red cabbage cauliflower cheese stuffing gravy and a proper home made Yorkshire pudding. Excellent. The only reason it’s not 5 out of 5 is really picky. On Sundays it’s just Sunday lunch which is fair enough but don’t leave the weekday menus out to confuse customers into wanting something not available. Unless it is available and we didn’t know. Also, publish the price of the Sunday lunch, value for what you get is amazing, 3 pints, glass of wine and two Sunday lunches for £35.03 (bit random on the 3p) is outstanding for a tasty pub meal.Put the Royal Oak on your list of places to visit you will not be disappointed.

Went here with friends, the food was good and the staff were very friendly and polite. The only thing stopping it being a 5* excellent was the fact we ordered our food and sat enjoying it when someone turned on the football on the television that was directly above our head, hence we then had everyone looking over our heads whilst we ate. Wasn't expecting this in the dining area and perhaps should have been advised when we ordered. Would not let this put us off going again or recommending the Royal Oak as if it wasn't for this it would have been a 5*. Will check if footie on next time

This pub is brilliant, it has everything you want from a pub, friendly staff, a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, great selection of drinks and decent food at reasonable prices. Very accommodating owners that through effort and hard work, have transformed the Royal Oak from a tired struggling pub into something very enjoyable. I have visited the Royal Oak with my wife and son for a bite to eat and on family fun days in the summer, with friends to watch football over a couple of pints, Sunday dinner with the family, and on my own for a quick half after work. I can’t say enough good things about the place! Keep up the good work!
