The Boat & Horses Beeston in Broxtowe

Been coming here for awhile now and love coming on Mondays. Can get really busy on Monday's as they do sticky 13 karaoke and open mic which is always good fun. The landlord is a pleasure and always makes everyone feel welcome and takes time to talk to people. All the staff and nice in there and I look forward to going.

I had a fantastic stay over in the car park of this pub. Great welcome upon arrival lots of local info shared with me. Still open when I got back later in the evening karaoke I'm full swing. Friendly locals. Can highly recommend this place. Didn't have food but Guinness is spot on.

A very enjoyable visit. It's a straightforward local pub with public and lounge bars. Lovely lovely beer. (it has ceilidh nights too... and they are reputedly great fun).

We were on a canal boat and just called in. Good beer selection.. Some of our crew wanted to eat, but that day they had several private partido in, even so they still managed to cook some PROPER chips. Great pub

Warm and friendly staff. Even the small grey haired Sapper, lol. Veteran and family-friendly. Food is above and beyond yummy. Close to the canal and lock, if there is one pub in the area you want to visit, it's this one.

We went to lesley's 70th b Birthday here, it had a great sized function room. Dj and cj jackson was a great singer and made our night. Great food and company made our night.

Lovely beer garden with a good art exhibition in stables. Staff were great, very warm and welcoming. Good prices and options on tap. Roast dinner was OK, with nice yorkies, but veggie option was pretty poor. Expected a nut roast or something alternative, not a roasted half of a butternut squash. Bit weird. However, this is our only negative, experience was great otherwise.

A group of 14 of us went to Boat & horses today. They were warm & hospitable, and made us feel welcome from the start. We had an amazing buffet served for us, and all in all, a great time was had. Cheers to the landlord...we'll be back!

What a find just a chance day out with 4 generations of family all had a great meal good banter with all staff and got the prices at affordable rates will definitely be going back on the next visit to Nottingham

Went here for a 50th Anniversary get together. Great staff, atmosphere and venue. Drinks are very reasonably priced in today's market.

Newly taken over recently it still sells all the old beers plus 4 casks. The atmosphere was better than on my previous visit. It’s more like a pub again. Not tried the food on this visit but I did look at the menus. I’ll be back.

Had a fabulous Sunday roast! Beer is very well kept and fresh home made food was delicious. So well located close to Beeston Marina and friendly place with great service.

New management team have taken over since 2nd March 2023 Wow what a breath of fresh air it was coming back in after the previous landlord has left. Much happier atmosphere and a pleasure to pop in. Lovely friendly and approachable staff. Just had a very fulfilling Sunday lunch, standard was definately enough. They even do a substantial dinner (way too big for normal hungry) Wishing the new team lots of happiness, luck and many customers x 😊

Came here today for the Forever Stars Easter event. Great atmosphere and people.

Roast dinner was lovely owners where friendly and welcoming there was a little wait for the meal but I didn't mind they were busy and had a function in the other room but you was still looked after the roast seems very popular and the food was homemade so you expect that you may have to wait for quality home made meal so didn't mind I actually enjoyed my drink and wasn't rushed which was a great meal thankyou to everyone really enjoyed it 😊

March 2023. Excellent new owners. Very friendly. Competitive prices. Great pie choice. Really looking after the real ale. Plenty of parking. After a walk along Beeston canal, worth hunting out for refreshments

Great car park stayed over for a night in our Motorhome,, as advertised on search for sites ,,had food in the pub with a couple of drinks good night sleep friendly staff will definitely be back if in the area 10 out of 10

Warning! You may get ripped off here. Travel to UK every month and things are getting crazy there..Paid £3.60 in November for a pint of Guinness. (Young guy).The next day it was £4. (Older guy with glasses.) I thought maybe because of the World Cup busyness he got the pricing wrong. Today it was £4.90!!! Older guy again. The horses have obviously bolted..

Enjoyed Sunday lunch here a few times recently. All fresh, homemade food (no frozen roasties etc) and friendly, efficient staff. Lunch is £8.99. They’ve also got a very reasonable weekday meal offering from £5 Wednesday to Saturdays but I’ve not personally tried them yet but definitely intend to! Place is clean and comfy but nothing fancy but definitely a genuine community local.

Didn't realise they didn't serve food on Mondays or Tuesdays so we're disappointed. It's a nice and big pub.

back again to the boat and horses for the northern soul event. Fantastic pub ,great atmosphere, lovely staff. Good menu,Had a bite to eat, the food was excellent. Had a chat with the landlord, great guy. As I said it's a great pub, with so much going for it. People need to come down and support their local establishments like the boat and horses and put money into places like these that are the heart and sole of the community. I will be back again 👍👍

Big fall out between locals, staff and managers over front door being locked we stood like lemons waiting to be served while it all kicked off so left

Attended a private function but felt a part of the pub atmosphere. Excellent outside safe family friendly large area with plenty of seats and well lite later on. Very wheelchair friendly as well. Staff very attentive. Was my first visit but will definitely not be my last.

Lovely service, very welcoming, polite, couldn't have done enough for you. The food was yummy but the beef was over cooked for my personal preference, although my friend loved his. And bar missing stuffing we left with very full and happy bellies 😁

Would give 0 stars if I could, we went to book the room and they was horrible, we got quoted £100 but when we got there they said there's no way we are giving it you for that price (which was understandable at first as prices change) but they rocketed the price through the roof, said the bar wasn't going to be open in the room either or the garden! For £350 it's discusting, especially for a Thursday night. Then was really rude to us the whole appointment, Used to be a lovely place but since the new management they have really gone down the drain, Horrible owners, definitely wouldn't recommend! Horrible people

Edit: received a call from the owner to discuss my concerns. Very apologetic and advised issues with the website in taking their old menu down. Provided reassurances sausages are locally sourced in Beeston but do buy different varieties - would look into this. Definitely want to support this local business, so fingers crossed my next return they'll be back to their usual 5 stars :) Disappointed by our visit here today. Been a number of times in the last few years due to living round the corner and always been impressed by service, quality and price. Not so much today. Service still good, but ingredient quality has gone downhill. 3 of us ordered sausages, including one meal where the sausages are described as a particular kind. They were not them, but actually really poor quality sausages, so some false advertising there. Unsure if their 'live" menu is different to what's on the website, but I was really not wanting to eat my lunch (sausage and mash) when it arrived. I work in the meat industry and know first hand the differences in sausage quality.. Didn't want to raise it at the time though as was with family. But I know the other 2 who had the sausages weren't impressed. Kids loved their meals though. Second thing, partner paid the bill and only told me the cost after we left. I think we were over charged but obviously can't challenge now. No receipt was offered, can I suggest this is offered in future? Will return again but not going to rush back :(
