Always eat here great prices,great atmosphere,

First off the staff didn't seem welcoming, ordered food and it came cold after a very long wait, when we asked for warm food they heated everything making the salad soggy, burger bun hard like it had been microwaved. We asked for a refund and no one seemed apologetic or friendly about this to be given a cash refund

Food is very good value, family friendly venue. Great value for money, great menu selection and good kids menu too! I had the spicy chicken wings and chips - definitely recommend

Very friendly staff. Great pub grub. There were very few people at the pub as it was early lunchtime. Couldn't fairly measure the atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Festival Inn Trowel

Popped in for tea with my son and was very disappointed. Service and staff were lovely but the place was near empty and I can see why. The food was appalling ! I has a sizzler. The onions on the sizzler had been microwaved or re-used before putting in the skillet and were inedible and just mush. The chicken breast (1/2 a chicken breast) was microwaved, as was the bacon on top - along with the bbq sauce topping and virtually tasteless. The mash was gloopy and luke warm and the peas were also virtually tasteless and dry. I appreciate its just pub grub but the whole meal had just been thrown together and nothing was edible. This place used to be great value tasty pub plates but I can honestly say they should not serve food here if this is the standard now. I won’t be retuning as clearly just reheated rubbish and nothing is “cooked”.

Had the best meal with family and the service from Sherrie was amazing! She was polite and very friendly and definitely made us feel very welcome! Thanks for a great meal xx

Sherries a member of the bar staff was brilliant told which was the best food to have with my food Allergy.

We come here all the time. The food is always nice and the staff are really friendly. Both sides of the pub are great. The pool table is well looked after

Great place to meet friends, good quiz night atmosphere is fantastic. Enjoy all the functions in the event rooms especially Rock and Roll and Soul nights. Food is very good and reasonable priced any request is dealt with promptly. Staff are all very friendly, most are able to help in any situation if not there is always someone who can .The bar shows all the sport events and has a very lively vibe , they put on lots of activities to coincide.

Ordered my meal waited over a hour for them to bring wrong food to then be told I either eat that or wait again for my meal to be cooked , got a refund for the meal they charged me for with no offering of apologies except a half hearted sorry from the old woman behind the bar . Won't be returning.

Very freindly pub, lovely chatty young lady, served us, all bar staff were attentive, we went there as we stayed at M1 services where burger King and Greg's get terrible reviews. £13.50 odd for two very reasonable meals. Bailey our dog was spoilt. 🙂

I went here having been to a service at Bramcote Crematorium. There was a prolonged wait for the required teas and coffees although they arrived eventually. There was no real ale available however Abbott was later available served from the bar area The food was good and there was plenty of it. There was something for everyone including the vegetarians. As there were around 12 of us we rearranged the seats so we formed more of an extended circle,rather than being seated in desperate smaller groups. All said it was pleasant and took me back to the early 70s when I used to go there on a Friday night in the function room. There are several disabled parking spaces and a ramp for those who cannot use the steps.

Quite a while since we visited The Festival,but it hadn't changed.Great service from the young lady at the bar,&The sizzling hunters chicken&gammon steak, was still as delicious 😋😋 A really good menu of other meals,looked just as nice.. If you're in the area,why go elsewhere?In our opinion,There's nowhere that's better value for money in the area.👏👏

We regularly attend events in the function room and sometimes stop in for food. It's always a great show and the food is always spot on. The vegetarian food is great, the staff are fast and friendly and we always have an awesome night.

Called this morning to meet friends & was very impressed with the cleanliness of the whole place. Everywhere was spotless. I was alone for a while and was made to feel very welcome.

Went for a Christmas meal, highly recommend, the food was delicious and really hot. Service was excellent and we were not rushed . Table was set for Christmas with crackers with decent gifts and new jokes. Loved our meal and will definitely be back 😀

We had planned a night out with friends for Christmas but accidently didn't pre-book from the Christmas menu (it was clearly on the menu but we didn't notice it! Ha). The team were very accommodating and helpful and the food was quick and tasty. Joe was particularly helpful! Thanks pal.

I went to the Soul Night (usually 1st Friday in the month) it's a really good night and costs £5 to get in.

Had the festive 3 course meal last night for our little Christmas work night out . Was fantastic value for money. Our table was set up for Christmas 🎄 crackers etc and the staff was brilliant at serving asking us all the time when we was ready for our next course nothing was to much trouble. The food was top quality and massive portions too. Would highly recommend this offer!

We don’t get here often as we do not live locally but when we do, we are always very well looked after. This visit was no different. Easy to book a table, welcomed with a smile, seated straightaway. The menu choice was excellent. I had the mixed grill skillet. The drinks were lovely and well priced. The food was amazing as always. The bar staff and managers were really welcoming and happy to chat. Nothing was too much trouble. Can’t wait to see you all again next time we travel up from London.

Terrible service had to go to bar after waiting a hour to be told that we should of been told that hour delay. After that when we did get steaks neither meal had pepper sauce which we ordered the waitress was more interested with a small child than service

We went for a hen do party, and Joe was the hostess with the mostest. Absolutely brilliant. Food was good and the drinks was good.

OMG food is fabulous. We were visiting Nottingham and had dinner here. Great atmosphere, staff were very attentive and the food was absolutely fabulous. Good size portions and great value for money definitely visit again when I'm here.

Celebrated my birthday at the Festival .Nine of us all had a lovely meal .Great staff very polite and helpful .Had the Hunters chicken was really nice .Matt Grainger was manager that night and helped make my night enjoyable such a smooth run place .

Visited with my partner and elderly mum for lunch. My mum has Parkinson's and Dementia and the staff attended to her needs with compassion, understanding and kindness. Portion sizes for mum were just right from the senior menu, and my partners steak and my chicken were cooked perfectly. Nice well done chips and a lovely, welcoming experience. Would recommend.

Disappointing, flies absolutely everywhere inside, it was like eating food in a jungle, when mentioned to the manager he said its because its next to a sewage farm… great. One of us ordered the platter which came missing 3 of the pieces, the mac and cheese was inedible, and the loaded fries with cheese SAUCE came out as lumpy jelly plonked on top, one of the worst dining experiences ive had yet, i understand its pub food but that was shocking.

Really love the menu 2 for £11 had gammon. Service wait due to volume of people

Never had to wait so long for meal, when it eventually arrived it was not good, steak buried underneath masses of salad with a very sour tasting dressing will not be going the again.

Debs and the team do a great job of running the pub. The quiz is great on a Thursday. Some days the food can take some time to arrive but that’s no different to any other pub. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and good value food for the price.

Great function room. Big and spacious with a brilliant bar and on the ground floor. Perfect for party's, events or meetings.

Not as good as usual. Burger undercooked, chips mediocre, no onion rings no mustard. Usually very good here and always get asked if food okay. The guy who served us was surly. Not a grest experience

There were 4 of us and the food was a bit of a wait but well worth it. Was piping hot really enjoyable for a great price.

After two visits in a few months after not visiting for a couple of decades thought we would try the food, and we quite like the layout now compared to what it used to be like many years ago. Food pricing is VFM and the menu quite big, very pleasant staff and plenty of well kept beers to choose from. Food was very good indeed considering the price paid, all hot and freshly cooked and portions on the generous side, we were pleasantly surprised, inside areas also very clean.We find the lighting a little tooooo bright and there are lots of lights and spots {spots not doing much as the ambient light is so bright anyway} - but that's our personal observation.Well done to the staff, we will return.

Very nice food . Did a challenge and finished it so I expected to get on a wall of fame only to be told there was no wall of fame . Very disappointed

Arrived at 7.15 booked, 4 of us out enjoying the evening , told 45 minutes to wait for dinner, so problem. After 1 hour and 10 minutes I asked the the waitress to check on progress of out order, she came back told us 15 minutes, ok, no problem, after additional 25 minutes I asked agin, she came back 5 minutes, after 10 minutes, it arrived, not worth the wait, 2 steaks and fish and a chicken, we ate in 20 minutes, not value for money, plus the screaming young kids running about at 8.50 pm in the evening was unacceptable and the screaming from them was unacceptable to want to stay for desert. We left never to return. There are other places we can do, and will do ..

We called on spec whilst driving home,i asked if it was alright to bring the dog in and if they were still serving food!! The answer was yes to both questions , we were made very welcome, the dog was given a bowl of water and some biscuits ,the food we ordered was excellent I have coeliac,there was a seperate gluten free menu with a very good choice of food ,, the staff were very friendly,I am so pleased we stopped there, and will definately call again when we are next time in Derbyshire

What can I say,been my local since old enough to drink,great for drinks,food and watching sports,.landlord and landlady both very welcoming and friendly,all staff are friendly capable and able to ensure you have a great time whatever the occasion

Ordered food which took over 1 hour, the pub wasn’t full but didn’t mind too much as was in no rush. However we was in 2 couples and a meal from each couple came out first one of which had a side to come out with and this never came out and one with sauce that never came out either. I then asked if the other food was coming out and the reply was ‘erm I think so we’ve been busy’. After asking this 5 minutes previous i asked another member of staff where my food was and this member of staff was SO rude and walked off as I was talking to her. It then took 15 minutes for the next 2 people’s meals to come out with a kids meal as well and when this came out the order on one meal was wrong so was sent back (bearing in mind the first 2 people had already finished eating)’. A member of staff then came back with a receipt with my order on and said that it wasn’t put on the order but when ordered at the bar it was said. The person who’s side didn’t come out with their main then asked for a refund for their side to which they got a snotty ‘I’ll ask the manager’ and then just a £5 note handed to them. Whilst eating our food a staff member asked if everything was okay with our meal to which we replied ‘not really no’ for this member of staff to walk off and not even ask why! Not a sorry for poor service or anything! This is the worst experience I have had in a pub before and this was a place we previously enjoyed but will not recommend or return! Sort it out!

I took my little boy to the kids Halloween party and it was fab!! The decorations were great, you could tell they worked hard on them. The music/disco was good (think I enjoyed more than my son), the staff joined in a dressed up too! They handled the amount of people in the room well and safely too! I can’t wait for the Christmas party!
