Visited for evening meal for four of us. From start to finish very pleasant experience. Greeted with a welcoming smile when we entered. Lovely waitress nothing was too much trouble. We had starters of garlic mushrooms and Halloumi all of which were lovely. Followed by Haddock and chicken burgers. Large portions again all fresh. No ping pong food here! If anyone doesn’t know what that means, (it means frozen and microwaved) it was all freshly cooked. Had dessert even though we were full. Cheesecake and sticky toffee puddings. Owners were very welcoming friendly and engaged in conversation. Pleasant surroundings and nice and clean. I would recommend this and we will be returning, and I am not always easy to please!! Well done to all the staff.

We booked for 15 of us (14 went). We had pre-ordered. We arrived a little early, so had plenty of time to have a couple of drinks at our tables. Food arrived and was, as always absolutely delicious! I was asked what music I liked (the meal was for my birthday). Dave very kindly put on Meat Loaf for me! Dave and Sasha are bloody brilliant hosts, and are so friendly, and the food is fantastic! Prices are very reasonable. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Beautiful pub. Amazing hosts! Went today (mothers day) for the carvery. Food was (as usual) absolutely spot on. 3 meats, plenty of veg. Had a dessert this time, absolutely beautiful! I wouldlike to recommend this place to everyone, but then there might not be availability for me!! Seriously though, can't fault the place. And David and Sasha are brilliant. They remember you, and are lovely!! Will be back before long.

Visited the carvery for Mother’s Day, our first time at The Royal Oak since moving to Woodhall Spa, it will become a firm favourite for us, staff lovely, the pub was spotless and the decor great, relaxing atmosphere with background music, the carvery was amazing, hot, plentiful and very good quality, tasted like a home made roast, can’t wait to return for other meals in the future and bring visiting friends, will recommend to everyone.

Had been told several times about food in this pub since the current Landlord and landlady took over. Went for Sunday Carvery and wow!! Three meats available, Mash and Roast spuds, and a great selection vegetables (approx. 5) and all cooked just perfect with the fresh crispy taste. This really is a great clean, fresh establishment. The staff are very polite and on the ball. An all round super village pub, serving value for money excellent food. Call and try it. Very much recommended.

My brother, my sister in law and myself called in here as I was visiting them for the weekend. We had a late lunch, which was very nice. We then popped back in the evening for the quiz and play your cards right. The pub was packed. What a fantastic night everybody had. We came last in the quiz, failed four times on play your cards right. But it was tremendous fun, the pub was laughing and cheering and clapping. Best night I've ever had with my clothes.....

Visited this lovely part of the world in June as part of a trip to the Aviation center, staying locally we walked to the Royal Oak in the evening for some food and a drink. What a cracking evening on a lovely warm summer day. The food was lovely, quick service and piping hot as well as being tasty and plentiful. It was nice to sit in a pub with such a warm and friendly atmosphere - we were made to feel very welcome and our dogs appreciated the snacks that magically appeared when our food arrived. A little gem and a tribute to the hosts for running such a lovely establishment - if only it was closer I would love to call it my new local :-)

It is increasingly difficult to find traditional local pubs (even before Covid). Dave and Sacha have created a real gem. A pub where even though you are not a local you are made to feel like one. Good beer well kept, proper tasty pub grub unfussily prepared and served with care. Sadly I live 200 miles away, if I could persuade my wife I would move just to make this my local!!!!!

Really friendly and welcoming pub. Food is typical pub fare, but nicely done. The steak and kidney pudding was delicious. COVID precautions were well implemented.....but in a sensible and friendly way so it was easy to relax and enjoy our time there while still feeling safe. The only problem we had was cycling the 20 miles home with such full tummies - maybe I’ll try one of their lighter menu options next time!

Volveremos. Espero que la música no será.

I was a bit surprised and disappointed with the yorkshires, as they were not home made. The men had puddings which they enjoyed - sticky toffee sponge & treacle sponge & custard! We have a tradition of trying new places within half an hours drive of home and so glad The Royal Oak fits the bill. Interior is comfy and tasteful with a lovely lawned garden for those sunny summer evenings. Owners and staff really pleasant and friendly with a nice buzz in the bar when we arrived. What a choice of gins on the menu and the brand new Louth gin, Pin, also in house. Our food was exceptionally well cooked with my haloumi starter the best I've eaten. When I said I liked fish, was offered Sea Bass even though not on the menu. It was served with large succulent prawns - deeelicious. The boys had belly pork - the meat I believe is from Navenby award winning butchers, Odlins and they certainly cleared their plates. We couldn't manage deserts!!Don't drive past this little gem - stop and eat!

Went with my parents for an evening meal. Nicely refurbished pub, very clean and lots of tables. Good choice of drinks with specific gin menu too. Friendly staff too. I had the rump steak which was really very good. The home made onion rings were very nice too. The plate was let down slightly by the chips. I would have hoped for a more rustic home made affair to reflect the rest of the plate but they were cheap shop bought chips. A shame but the only thing I could pick on.Dessert I had was syrup along and custard. It was nice but had half a plate of custard and half of syrup making it too sweet for me if I'm honest.

My husband and I were traveling back home and in need of something to eat, had a look at surrounding village pubs on tripadvisor and decided on the Royal Oak. The reviews did not disappoint. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who asked if we wanted to sit in bar area or restaurant. We opted for the bar near the fire and my husband went for the giant Yorkshire pudding filled with braising steak which was on the light bites menu and he said it was delicious. I went for gammon which was cooked perfectly. We would certainly return again next time I would try a gin from their extensive gin Menu which looked fantastic! Overall excellent food, good value for money and friendly service ( the decor of the pub was lovely as well and very clean and modern toilets)

We eat regularly here being locals but this year decided to try our family Xmas day meal here too. We weren't disappointed. I don't eat meat and was particularly pleased that I was well catered for both in terms of a scrummy suet dish, veggie gravy and also my own separate vegetables. The other 8 in my party enjoyed their turkey meal which they all commented was very well cooked and tasty. Portions generous. Dad had steak which he said was perfection. The pub was full and atmosphere great, we were greeted by flowers for the ladies and welcome drink. Service was spot on and considering they were catering for about 40 very efficient and fast. Starter wise I enjoyed a broccoli and Stilton soup whilst others had a tasty salmon and prawns with a sauce they all commented was lovely. By the time of my Xmas pudding and then cheese biscuits and port I was too full. Others polished off their Eton mess cheesecake or apple pie with relish. All in all brilliant food and great atmosphere. We would all recommend thoroughly!! Same again next year we hope.

I came to the Royal Oak on Friday night whilst visiting my parents who live in the village. They were doing a charity event for children in need and wow, what a night! The pub itself is cosy but fresh. Beautifully refurbished with very luxurious toilets. All of the staff are attentive and friendly, they'll go out of their way to make sure that all of their customers are happy and comfortable. We had basket meals which were lovely and plentiful; simple choices but tasted great and were very well presented. The fish was huge! We also had puddings and I very much enjoyed the raspberry pavlova. The drinks were all top notch and of average pub prices! For children in need they had a band play and when the band were setting up we were unsure what to expect as they seemed to have a lot of equipment for a small pub, even the landlady looked a little apprehensive! Once they got going however our worries quickly vanished and they were absolutely fab. They had everyone up having a dance and appealed to everyone, young and not so young! They were lovely people too!Overall an absolutely brilliant night although I must admit I had a slight hangover on Saturday!

The rib eye steaks were great, my scampi was delicious too. Had a nice range of artesian beers and gins! We have been to this pub several times and every single time it has been brilliant. It was quiet for a Saturday evening which is a shame because this pub is a real gem. It still has a traditional bar area for just drinking and the eating area is divided into a definite restaurant area and a lounge where you can still just sit and have a drink. We went here as a family for Mother's Day. Although the Sunday lunch menu is limited; three items per course, the food was really excellent. My broccoli and stilton soup was as good as any I have had, my roast beef was really tender, my yorkshire was perfectly cooked and the gravy was delicious. The meal came with a good selection of vegetables.I finished with lemon meringue which was very lemony, with good pastry. Some members of the family had roast belly pork with smokey mash; oh my goodness, it was so good I wished I could have eaten two main courses. My only two recommendations for improvement: it would be good to have a vegetarian alternative on offer and a bit more custard on the apple pie- both pretty trivial and paling into insignificance in the overall magnificance of the meal.I can thoroughly recommend the Royal Oak for Sunday lunch and we will certainly be going back

First came across the Royal Oak a few years ago while househunting and it was pleasant to take a short walk from where we were staying to the pub for an early-evening pint and a read, and an occasional meal. Back then it was a fairly typical, no-frills, village pub and I have to say I really enjoyed going there. Once we'd found a house and moved, although only a few miles from Martin, we never went back to the Royal Oak (loads of local choice) and then one day drove through the village and were sad to see - but not hugely surprised - that it had closed down. And then came the day when we drove past and it had reopened, looking rather smart, too. And so we had a chance to eat there the other evening, and took it.First impressions on entering - oh yes, very nice. Nice, relaxing colour scheme, immaculately clean, changes to the bar and that greatest of things - no piped music (thank you, Royal Oak!). We were late arriving by 15 minutes but no problem; pleasant welcome and straight to our table. It turns out that if you book a table there's a dining room menu, while if you want to sit in the lounge there's a bar menu. The bar meals looked nice.We ordered starters from the dining room menu - a fairly standard but tasty prawn cocktail, and breaded mushrooms with a garlic mayo dip. Both nice enough and at the price, pretty reasonable. The mushrooms had a very uniform and brittle breadcrumb coating that spoke of superhuman precision (or maybe having come out of a freezer :-) ) but it's hard to blame the kitchen for that. Life's too short. The salad leaves with both dishes were beautifully fresh and overall, we were chuffed and enjoyed the food.Main courses were a rump steak with onion rings and chicken breast - steak cooked exactly as requested, good chips, onion rings, grilled tomato and peas. Excellent! Washed down with a reasonably-priced bottle of Argentinian Malbec, just lovely. The chicken breast in leek and stilton sauce hit the spot, too - SWMBO was very happy.Didn't have puddings - too full. We'll certainly go back to the Royal Oak again - very civilised, good and well-priced food, nice people. We might well go back though to have a bar meal, too - the Giant Yorkshire Pudding filled with Chili is calling to me....Oh - just one thing to remember; no food service on a Sunday as I understand it, so check before travelling.

What a wonderful place to eat and all within walking distance! We both chose a Starter which included delicious prawns and then my husband chose the Pork Belly. The generous helping almost got the better of him. He said it was delicious and the accompanying vegetables just as tasty. My large Sea Bream Fillets were also beautifully cooked with ample vegatables all delicious. Neither of us could fault a thing plus presentation perfect. We both decided to finish off our meal with a dessert and struggled through a delicious Rasberry Pavlova! An equally delicious coffee finished off lour meal. Can't wait to visit again!

Sunday lunch was very tasty but with very variable portions on the plates. Out of our table my husband received a meal less than the size of my daughters. Most bizarre cheese plate to follow included 5 really big scruffily cut dry cheeses and four crackers. no butter. Served with lettuce tomato and cucumber. Lovely puddings.

We were a group of five out to celebrate just before Christmas. The pub has recently been updated and is warm and welcoming as were the staff. Could not fault the service nor the food. All of our party enjoyed their evening and will all be returning for more. Highly recommended indeed!! You have to try the deep fried brie (I hope they keep the portion size!!!) it was a real winner!!!

Visited on a Saturday lunch and had an excellent pint of mild along with a pretty good scampi and chips. Staff were very friendly and the pub itself is very nicely decorated. Would certainly return if in the area again.

We live in a nearby village and decided on the spur of the moment to go out for something to eat. We thought about the pubs in the surrounding villages to where we live and remembered that this pub had recently been taken over and fully refurbished.Everything from the decor, service, choice of drinks and food itself was spot on and all for an acceptable price. We both had a starter and main course and were too full for a dessert.

We ate here mid-week. Not the biggest menu you will find but generally we find that is a good thing as you can be sure that its all cooked fresh. As we had eaten virtually nothing all day we were a little peckish, so we decided to have something from the starter menu to begin, Deep fried Brie ( about the size of a small house ! ) and a plate of Whitebait, both starters were cooked just right and were really tasty. We both decided of opt for the Seabass Fillets from the specials board as our main dish. When they arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find two Fillets on each plate ! . The Seabass were cooked perfectly and simply delicious, ( excellent in fact ) ! the home made Chips were also really tasty too. A single desert of Raspberry Pavlova which I understand was very nice . The small selection of Beers at the Royal Oak are well kept and vary each week, so there is always something new to try. I had the Theakstons Black Bull and the Buttercomb Bitter both excellent pints. A small but perfectly adequate wine list offers one or two quality wines along with a few stock favourites..Friendly efficient service and very good food. The royal Oak has been totally renovated since May 2014 and you will find the decor and all the facilities to be clean, modern and comfortable. Going back again tonight ! worth a 4.5 rating easily .

We went for dinner. The main meals were good. Well presented and cooked well. I decided to have a dessert but wish that I had not. I chose raspberry pavlova which came in a small sundae dish looking like Eton mess and was comprised of a mix of bought meringue, a few soggy raspberries and what tasted like squirty artificial tasting cream. A big disappointment and also expensive for what it was. So my recommendation is to enjoy your main course and forget the puddings.

Four of us have had lunch at the Royal Oak, Martin, today; the food was superb! The main course was extremely tasty and satisfying, and the deserts exquisite. This pub on the main road through a relatively quiet village is a must visit for anyone in the area wanting something to eat either lunchtime or in the evening. It is under new ownership, and has been recently refurbished to a high standard. However once you have ordered, and your food has arrived, be prepared for an even greater delight once you taste the flavours dished up before you!Calvin and Jill, you have put Martin on the map, and have made it a 'must visit' for those who enjoy delicious food. For those deciding to visit, the telephone number in the phone book is the wrong eating place - try 01526 378777.

We were staying in the area (in fact, just across the road at the Low Barn) and ate here a couple of evenings. Basic pub, basic pub grub menu, but superbly cooked, huge portions, tasty and completely enjoyable. Prices are extremely good. The staff and the landlord are friendly and fun.

My friend and I stumbled onto this place after an antique fair for lunch. It was one of the best meals I've gotten at a pub since I've moved here. I ordered the bacon-wrapped pheasant breast with some sort of berry blanc which was just great! My friend ordered the chicken tikka which was very good. Two coffees, two cokes, and two meals for under 30GBP!!! I don't know if I will ever find it again but I hope I do!

The Royal Oak pub is in Martin, near Lincoln. We had 3 meals there over two days and all were excellent with fresh ingredients well presented. Good beer too ! The pub has a good mix on the menu with lots of selection. The barman and his wife ( owners ) were really welcoming and helpful with our family history research. We loved the people of Martin who were all so kind to us as visiting Canadians. The Royal Oak is a traditional pub well worth a visit. We certainly hope to return !

A wonderful lunch! Lovely menu with a wide choice. My husband chose Gammon Egg and Chips and I chose Beef Lasagna and chips. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunches. The beef lasagna was one of the nicest I've eaten. We had no room for dessert but the cake selection did look delicious. It's a shame we don't live closer as this cafe would be a favourite.
