Have been a couple of times before to enjoy the euros and have been really impressed with the organisation the landlord and staff have put on. Last nights final there were security on the doors, wrist bands and brilliant entertainment especially the Wealdstone raider! Was a brilliant night! Food was amazing, cannot fault the night!

Brief 45 minute stop off.Pub was becoming incredibly busy at 3.45 pm, prior to the England- Germany game.Nice set up at the rear for those coming to watch the match here - extremely large screen had been erected - like a fan zone.Place was fully booked, but tables at the front, outside were available.Drinks are a decent price here; staff were very accommodating and stunning blonde bar lady was working very fastidiously.Nice traditional pub.

I’ve been to the Royal Oak many times and it never fails to disappoint! When arrived I was greeted by friendly staff and was shown to my table, all staff were so welcoming, it’s so lovely the pub is back open! Food was amazing with hardly any wait time, best pub food. I had a jug of pimms that looked and tasted amazing with fresh fruit. Overall my experience was great and always is! I highly recommend this pub, perfect for a quick drink or a dinner. The staff are amazing also. Will definitely keep coming back now it’s back open!

I am so pleased the Royal Oak is back open for business! I had a fantastic evening catching up with friends in the beer garden. The garden itself is beautiful and very clean and tidy and their new app is easy to use. The service from the staff was great, they were all super happy and friendly despite being run off their feet as the place was packed! We didn’t have to wait long for anything and the chicken Kiev I had was to die for! I can’t wait to return.

Very nice atmosphere and always welcoming. My wife and I been going to the Royal Oak for twenty years or more it has changed hands few times but now managed by Luke and Sophie it’s been a tremendous success and the choice of staff are very friendly namely Ryan Ollie and of course Leigh one of the chefs as well as all the others which I can’t remember their names. This place getting busier by the day in spite of the pandemic. I must say I hope they have more varieties in their menu.Frances & Fraser

I walked in because I noticed they had decided to get the TV screens back in (they took them out forcing customers like me to find somewhere else to watch now a year later they put them back in again) and stood at the bar for a couple of minutes, the staff just talked amongst themselves, not even bothered to acknowledge me, so I walked out again. Surely they should care if a customer comes in and at least smile and make eye contact, but no, seems what they are saying to themselves is more important.

Had fresh battered Haddock and chips, mushy peas, really top notch. I’ve always really enjoyed the roasts here, and to be fair the meat is always great although you do feel a bit short changed with three potatoes, three bits of carrots and a leaf of cabbage. Since the chefs changed I must say quality and quantity has declined. The one thing that constantly infuriates me is the mark up, for £15 (minimum for a meat roast) you’d expect more and the gravy is always extremely thin. Most irritatingly of all the cauliflower cheese HAS NO CHEESE IN IT- at least not any normal human could taste. You’re paying £6 for half a cauliflower in white sauce. Stop taking the mick, put some cheese in and give people what they’re paying for. Before a response of “there was no food complaint on the day” it’s hard to comment when the bar maids are too busy eating potatoes behind the bar, chatting and ignoring anyone not in the restaurant to ask how the meal was. Left 30 mins after finishing and still no ones come over to clear the plates (There was one table in the restaurant) disappointing. Rename cauliflower cheese to just cauliflower.

I love coming to the Oak, my first choice for a pub visit in New Malden. If it's for a few beers, a light lunch or nice dinner with family or friends, or even just to stop in to work outside the house. This weekend enjoyed a delicious Shepards Pie with a friend and then came back with a group for our planned Sunday Roast. Always delicious! My biggest problem with the Roasts at the Oak is... always being torn between the Pork and the Beef... The Oaks rise has meant I no longer go to Norbiton to find a decent Roast! We have found since they re-did the restaurant it has massively improved as the thing that was stoping before was the long wait. We once were waiting so long we had to leave after 2 hours!! But ever since they have done it up the wait as been much better and the food is also delious ( although it was before .) We visited last night with some friends who had come to visit us from Newbury. The transformation is excellent with the new layout and food. I had been a fan of the Glasshouse with it being my pub of choice but due to the recent changes there I think my allegiance will now lie with the Royal Oak. The new menu surpasses any of the pubs currently in New Malden so the Chef is to be congratulated. The staff are all very cheerful and the dog friendly area is definitely welcomed. The Royal Oak is our local and I would really like to like it more. Following a refurbishment a couple of years ago the interior is pleasant and welcoming, and there is a good atmosphere. The food is mediocre - the kind of stuff that gives pub grub a bad name. But the thing that really puts me off is the thoroughly unfriendly welcome which clearly comes from the manager and is shared by many (though not all) of the staff. During our last visit they seemed to delight in not being able to provide what we wanted. No, we've run out of tequila. No, we don't have any more Sauvignon. No, you can't book a table as we're very busy tonight. (We turned up anyway, and they weren't.) No, we won't serveshots. There isn't exactly a surfeit of good pubs in New Malden, but even so I won't be coming back here.

I have been coming to this pub for years with my family and friends, for the last year they have had a mix of management and I must say mostly bad. The lovely couple who lived upstairs look like they cared a lot about the pub but since they left it's gone massively downhill. They have had several managers who didn't know what they where doing until a young blonde women who was covering manager took it on and she seemed like she had it under control and on the up again, unfortunately this new manager who has come in has destroyed the atmosphere of this traditional pub. He's rude to the public and he's never to be seen when it gets busy. The staff look constantly under stress and don't look happy. Food and drink is great and cheap also I love the great pub atmosphere when everything goes right. Just a shame they keep getting managers who seem like they don't care!!!

Awful. Dirty, every surface/table/inch of the bar sticky and and uncleaned. Garden no more than a bald patch of dirt. Asked for bitter shandy - staff asked if Fosters was OK (!), later asked for Coronas which one of our group was drinking to be told they dont sell Coronas not once but twice so had to point it out in the fridge. Food (if that's what you call it) - poor value and had to wait an hour for a fish finger (sorry, "cod goujons") sandwich and even then didnt get the extra chips I ordered - it was worth losing the £1.69 just to get out..... Mens toilets filthy with 2 urinals having buckets underneath and one of them being 3/4 full with piss. It wont be open for long and will probably become flats.

We visited this pub last night for some drinks and dinner and it was absolutely awful! If I could I would choose no stars for this rating they don't even deserve one. Firstly I went to order drinks from clueless young lady who couldn't find none of the wines from the menu and after three of my choices weren't available I had to settle for fourth one which was warm bottle of white! I asked for bucket with ice and they didn't have one!! We then ordered food - oh what a mistake!!!! We were told that there is 45 mins wait on food as there is only one untrained person in the kitchen! It took an hour and half to get the food and after we chased 4 times we were told they don't even have our order in the kitchen .... I was asked what did we order!!!! So I gave them my receipt which they took to the kitchen to make order from!!!! And once the food did arrive it was terrible!!!! It was terribly prepared and served beyond cheap pub grub! It was absolutely disgusting! When I asked to speak to the manager there wasn't one around! They staff were young and totally clueless and lost!!! They were running around like headless chickens and we felt sorry for them! The tables were full of empty glasses and there was mess everywhere!! It really is a shame as the pub is very nice and spacious with wonderful big garden in the back! If only they improved and trained their staff and if the management cared it would be a lovely pub! Plus ofcourse the menu needs to be completely changed and improved!!!! I will NEVER go to this place again and wouldn't recommend it to none!!! Waste of time and money!!!!

Having phoned to book a table for Friday lunchtime, we arrived to find one young man behind the bar who was not very efficent. Eventually got drinks, sat at table and made our choice from the menu and placed our order. An hour and a half later, still not having any food, went back to the bar to get our money refunded and left without having any food. The surroundings are pleasant but the service appaling, I would avoid this pub. Staffing completely inadequate.

We planned to go to the Royal Oak for food on the Friday 26th May, we called the pub at 6:00pm to ask when they served food until, we were told 9:00pm, we arrived at the pub at 8:15, found a table and chose from the menu, on going to the bar to order food at 8:20pm, the barman told my son the kitchen had stopped doing food, because we are busy. This was abultly appalling service, and should be honoured if we had called up before hand. We left and went to another pub feeling really disappointed.

We arrived for our first visit here impressed by the nice atmosphere and decor. We had booked a table which was ready for us but unfortunately the food took quite a long time to arrive. Zoe was very apologetic and even offered us drinks on the house. The food was worth waiting for and generous in portions.

Came in with a few friends tonight for a few drinks and nibbles. We were made to feel very welcome straight away and the manager found us a nice table and bought our drinks to us. The pub was busy, but it only added to the great atmosphere. We received table service all night and we felt very well looked after. Drinks were delicious and the food was hot and speedy! And to top off the fabulous service and yummy food and drink, the manager, Simon bought some delicious homemade cake to our table as he was collecting for Macmillan! Would highly recommend this pub! I will definitely be back!

I have used the Royal Oak several times and have always found the staff very polite and helpful which they were again unfortunately the same cannot be said of the manager Simon he was rude aggressive would not apologise for bumping into my friend and then had the cheek to chuck us out I have never been so embarrassed in all my life he was a complete lunatic refused to let us finish our drinks earlier in the afternoon he came out into the garden where the children were on the bouncy castle and he turned it off saying they were jumping inappropriately I think the man is a complete idiot . One of the bar staff came up to us and apologised for his bizarre behaviour Would not recommend this pub to anyone
