Royal Hotel in Sheffield

We ate here on a Saturday night. Warm welcome from the owner. The food is traditional pub grub such as cottage pie, liver and onions, sausage and mash, chilli, scampi etc. all home cooked.

Me alojé aquí camino a casa hacia el sur durante un feriado bancario. Dave y el personal aquí son los más amables que encontrarás en cualquier lugar. Hacen muy buena comida, es básico, así que no esperes a Jamie Oliver, pero lo que hacen es excelente. El alojamiento es encantador, definitivamente tiene una buena relación calidad-precio.

The pub is right next to the hotel rooms and there isn't much else around so this is the best place to eat. The food was generous and prices were reasonable, made for a tasty dinner.

Small selection, home made, tasty, hearty, great portion size, very reasonable prices, local ales, nice atmosphere, friendly owners and local crowd - nothing left wanting !

We visited the Royal Hotel while staying in the village for a couple of nights. A very friendly reception, good beer and quality if not spectacular pub food. If this was out of 10 I'd give it a 7 but not an 8!

working in Sheffield for s few days and wanted to stay away from the city. this is it. Rooms clean and tidy, breakfasts very good but to top it the evening meals of homemade pie are brilliant

Stayed here for one night in July to attend a family party in Hillsborough. Welcome was very friendly. Our room was very spacious with a lovely walk in shower with a variety of shower gels, shampoos etc. Tea tray was very well stocked also. The thing that impressed us the most was Mine Host said that if we couldn't get a taxi back to the hotel at the end of our evening out we could ring him and he would come and pick us up! What a gent. Breakfast the next morning was lovely which we had chosen the night before from a varied menu served by a lovely lady called Joanne. Scenery surrounding the area was delightful and we enjoyed a lovely walk around Bradfield Reservoir to walk off our breakfast!

Travelled here a couple of times to visit the resident Royal Traditions Folk Club (held once a month and a great club) and eaten before the singing began. The menu is predominantly pies - but, oh what pies! Big hearty, home-made meals at realistic prices with friendly owners and staff. It is not ALL pies of course. There are one or two other dishes and vegetarian options but take my advice and go for the pie of your choice. My wife had steak and ale and I had rabbit pie last time around and couldn't fault the price, quality, service or friendliness, served in a real pub atmosphere with some great local ales to choose from. Real Ales, real food, really good night out.
