Royal Bengal in Highland

Wasn't amazing. Had a takeaway from here a year ago and quality seems to have dropped somewhat. Very quick delivery which was good. I had Achari which was billed as very hot, it was unbelievably mild, I think the Keema Rice had more heat than the curry. Naans were good but the wifes CT Masala was pretty bland compared to usual back home. Will try elsewhere next time we're up here.

Had a bit of a wait for pre ordered food ,but it was worth it .

Horribly overpriced for unpleasant basic food. The "dhal" was inedible watery lentil soup with some cheap curry powder through it. We raised this as a concern, and were told this is what was on the menu and was what we ordered. We sent back the food and were made to pay for it anyway. Avoid.

Food was excellent, couldn't fault it at all. The waiting staff were polite, but not the best. There was zero atmosphere in the place, but it was 5.30pm on a Sunday to be fair. Terrible cover versions of popular songs being played in the background which did nothing for the atmosphere. Worth it for the food though.

Ordered a chicken Korma with Fried Rice and chips. The curry was not too bad but the rice had no flavour, was very wet and didn't taste like fried rice at all. tasted more like plain rice, it hadn't been drained enough as water was on the plate when the food was platted up. the chips and nan bread were good but the nan could do with abit more cheese in it when ordering a cheese nan.

Food was lukewarm, which was a shame as it could have been a nice meal

Very ordinary 'Indian' food which you can find anywhere. Fine if you are hungry. I wish one brave chef would offer us the food he serves to his family!

Lovely small restaurant with very friendly and helpful staff. The food is pretty good if a little bit pricey but I don't mind paying a bit more for better quality food. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in the area.

Korma was watery and bland, we thought it was watered down, not many chunks of chicken. Lamb tikka masala was stodgy and thick and tasted very bitty, not smooth like it should be. Very disappointed.

You have to visit Royal Bengal Indian restaurant if you are near Nairn or passing through, one of the best Indian meals we have had in this area by far. Service was excellent from start to finish and all the staff were very friendly and helpful when selecting our food choices. Also very good value for money for the high quality food we received.

Chicken was a teensy bit dry but overall great!

Poor quality tandoori chicken. Spongy, over cooked, bland chicken. Not cooked in a tandoor, very little flavour and no char any of the dish, but still overdone (!?). Also had seekh kebab starter which was better flavoured but again poorly cooked.

We were disappointed. For the price we paid we expected better quality. The curries were a very watery/thin consistency, and not a lot of meat. The meal was also cold even though we collected it as soon as the app said it was ready. The meat itself, flavour of the curries, naan and poppadoms were nice.

Lovely Resturant with exceptional staff who went out of their way to ensure we had a great visit. Food was delicious. Prices were good value no complaints at all.

4 of us visited on a Tuesday evening and were the only people there. We can’t say a bad word about it. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was possibly the most flavourful we have tasted. It’s always a good thing when you can taste the food over the heat. The lamb was very succulent. #dotheroar

I was in Nairn overnight only and had left my wallet in a cafe that had already closed, so without money, card or my phone, I wasn't able to get dinner or even water. I went into The Royal Bengal just to ask if there was any way I could pay in Euros and bring the sterling the next day, but instead, Eileen kindly let me have a dinner and two waters to take to my hotel that night and trusted me to just put an envelope through the door the next day before I traveled on to the airport. Not only was this gesture very kind, trusting and generous, but the meal I ate was exceptionally good. One of the best lamb curries I have had, with generous promotions and several popadoms and sauces to accompany the meal. I'll definitely return if I go back to Nairn anytime in the future. My order was the lamb butter makhani... highly recommend it.

Been here several times and every time it's world class. The staff, the place, the food. You cannot fault any of it.

Bland tasting curry, disappointing. Ordered a cheese naan and it came with barely and cheese in it. Curry would have been lovely if it had more flavour.

We need to cancel the order as the police had closed the A9.We called the restaurant and they agreed a refund if cancelled in the app, but cancellation wasn’t an option offered to me.

The food was very expensive for what it was. I found the curry to be bland and the two different types of curry I tried honestly tasted the same, except different colours. There was a lot of sauce and very little vegetables and chicken. It tasted low quality- like there was flour filler for the cream based curry. The serving sizes were small. Even the tiny glasses of soda were overpriced. The one thing I loved were the front staff. Very kind and provided good service.

Worst food ever. Mix grill in particular, a lot of money for something thats pre packed and heated in microwave when ordered. The rest of the food wasn't great either. Stale food.

This place is an insult to indian food. No idea of spices and extensive use of colour to mask the dishes. The food was stale and mix grill was precooked and heated in microwave on order.

Despite ordering food online in advance there was a 25 minute delay on arrival to collect. The food was quite expensive but overall was nice, although the chicken was dry in both our dishes which were not what we expected. Wouldn't use again unfortunately. The staff are very polite and we absolutely love the locals here. A very nice atmosphere of you were to dine in.

Take away - chicken tikka pieces , curry sauce with garlic naan and chicken biryani. Received complementary papadoms with sauces. Very bland food, lacking spices and flavour. No salt either. Bitterly disappointing food for £32.

Oh wow what an amazing meal. So fresh and the tastes were amazing. Such an unassuming place if you didn’t know about it. The food is out of this world and served by very friendly staff.

This is not for Indians as it is really bad Indian food. Went there based on 4.4 rating on google but extremely disappointed. Their chicken biryani just colored rice with boiled chicken added to it with no spices. We ordered Madras Chicken curry, veg vindaloo, paneer jalfrezi, and chicken biryani with naan and kulcha. All of them are the worst dishes.

The meal was delicious and the staff friendly. I highly recommend it.

Was coming back to Aberdeen from Inverness , felt hungry and needing a quick food , bump in to this place for food . Didn’t buy varieties of food , just a lamb biriyani, not extraordinary but it was very good , delicious not too spicy 🌶️, it’s Halaal place . Service was good but price for biriyani is £19.00 felt but expensive may be having difficulties to buy the ingredients. Menu is very simple not complicated like other places . Diffidently going back again. Recommend

Almost £12 for about 8 chicken nuggets that tasted bad, chips that were just terrible, I didn’t get what I wanted, I ordered a cheese naan bread but there wasn’t any cheese it was just a plain naan bread and the keema naan bread had barely any keema at all it was just plain with a bit of keema.

Got a takeaway here a few nights ago and was pleasantly surprised . The chicken chilli garlic curry was exquisite and the rice was nice and aromatic. All in all excellent meal and very happy with what I received. Will be back .

Popped in on a cold Friday night and had a lovely evening with 2 really good curries, rice and naans. Service was great, food was produced in good time and tasted delish! Were a few customers in for takeaways but were served at a separate part of the counter so caused no problems. All in all a good find. Will be back if passing Nairn again

I always go to The Royal Bengal when I come home to Nairn. The Lamb Rogan Josh is the best I have ever had. The meat was so incredibly tender it fell apart. The staff are always so friendly too. Easy 5 Star

Great entrance, interior very nice and lights for atmosphere! Food was incredible, poppadoms with huge amounts of dips, bombay aloo, nan bread, paneer was to die for and the chicken rogan josh flavours were beautiful! Trip from Aberdeen glad we chose to eat here :)

Had the best dinner here. The starter, main (epic butter chicken) and drinks all hit just right and were fairly priced especially for being high quality. Ashlinn and Elaine were lovely waitresses and took great care of us though we've got to give a special thanks to Mosh for his warm welcome and generally being a legend. Definitely our go-to for any and all future Nairn trips! ✌️

First stated 48 hours now latest email 7 days, cancelled directly with restaurant which advised to contact Just Eat , outcome impossible, reordered meal and went direct to restaurant to pick up, ended up eating at pm

I just got take-away. I'm not saying the food was bad--it was OK. I'm just saying that if you like the flavors of Indian food, you will not find them here. I got the set menu for one and everything tasted like it was made by someone who has no idea what Indian food is supposed to taste like. Everything was sweet, not spicy, bland, with no depth of flavor. I've had lots of Indian food and this was just...weird.

Can’t go wrong with these guys! Every time I’ve ordered, (and this opinion includes that of others also eating) they say it’s incredible. Especially your lamb tikka, coconut rice and the spinach dish - just delish! Will continue to order but try cut down the frequency or I’ll be the size of a house. Visited with my wife and Daughter, very friendly staff who seated us quickly and took our drinks order, there is plenty of choice for all tastes here and although they were busy our food arrived quickly and was very tasty, we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Makhani with accompanying sides all served with a smile, highly recommended

The fried rice ordered was bland it was not even salted . The service was excellent but the food was really bland , no where near to be an indian restaurant because nothing tasted indian, the butter chicken was sweeter than ice cream, it was more of a dessert than a starter . I would have given zero stars for food if it was allowed.

Nice staff, nice atmosphere but the food was over priced compared to most Indian restaurants - £16 for one small dish of curry is a lot. I expected something extra special for that price but all of the food was very mediocre - a real disappointment when you spend £80 on a meal.

This was our first experience. We had read others' reviews and thought we could treat ourselves as we are on holiday. From first greeting to settling the bill this was a genuinely happy choice of restaurant. The service was quick, friendly and helpful to guide us through the extensive menu. The food was excellent and from the animated chatter from other diners (families, friends, colleagues) it very much appeared that they too were happy with their meals and drinks. Finally the cost..we were about 20 pounds per head - starter, main course, naan and a soft drink each...plenty! Certainly lived up to expectations..perhaps even better. The only minor issue being the tables are quite closely packed and if it had been even more busy (it was about 75% capacity) then it might get a little too noisy and less intimate for some.

3 different waiters took care of us. Very confusing. Food was ok, but nothing special. The dish was supposed to be medium hot but we both got a feeling that the spices were not added at all to pur dishes

So we was here as family of 3.ordered vinadloo .tikka masala.jalfrezi 2 rice.pomadoms.nana bread pewsweri nan. Sever was on point.five star service by our server..ive never had a Indian meal out was so good.i ordered wrong curry was changed not problem at all.def recommend. Very good at letting me know food was ready for collection. I arrived 30 seconds after I receive txt as I was parked outside. Ordered samosas, paid £5 and only got 3, that's a bit of a rip off especially when they have me 6 chicken pakoras for a similar price. The quality of the curries was good. Unfortunately they were Luke warm. Ordered from here almost every time we are up and this was the first time that the food was not hot. Would have again, but would make sure it's hot before I leave.

Booked this for my Wife and I as a sit down meal. Got to the restaurant and were escorted through an area where loads of takeaway carriers are sat waiting for food to be put in them, under hot lamps The restaurant clearly has its focus on takeaway or delivery which is ok, but the table service was quite rushed and pressurised in the way our order was taken. The starters arrived with the accompanying sauces and chutneys served in plastic takeaway pots and wooden ice cream spoons to serve them with which was just plain odd when having a sit down meal ! Note - The restaurant menu is significantly smaller than the online menu is. Luckily the dishes we wanted were on there. The food was actually very nice, but it is one of the oddest Indian meals ever.

The set meals are NOT available for dining in- only as take-away. This is NOT made clear with online menu and door menu which may be said to be misleading. Staff friendly and attentive. My curry tasted like a really simple tomato sauce. Nan bread was generous in area but thin.
