I always go to The Royal Bengal when I come home to Nairn. The Lamb Rogan Josh is the best I have ever had. The meat was so incredibly tender it fell apart. The staff are always so friendly too. Easy 5 Star

Great entrance, interior very nice and lights for atmosphere! Food was incredible, poppadoms with huge amounts of dips, bombay aloo, nan bread, paneer was to die for and the chicken rogan josh flavours were beautiful! Trip from Aberdeen glad we chose to eat here :)

Had the best dinner here. The starter, main (epic butter chicken) and drinks all hit just right and were fairly priced especially for being high quality. Ashlinn and Elaine were lovely waitresses and took great care of us though we've got to give a special thanks to Mosh for his warm welcome and generally being a legend. Definitely our go-to for any and all future Nairn trips! ✌️

I just got take-away. I'm not saying the food was bad--it was OK. I'm just saying that if you like the flavors of Indian food, you will not find them here. I got the set menu for one and everything tasted like it was made by someone who has no idea what Indian food is supposed to taste like. Everything was sweet, not spicy, bland, with no depth of flavor. I've had lots of Indian food and this was just...weird.

Visited with my wife and Daughter, very friendly staff who seated us quickly and took our drinks order, there is plenty of choice for all tastes here and although they were busy our food arrived quickly and was very tasty, we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Makhani with accompanying sides all served with a smile, highly recommended

The fried rice ordered was bland it was not even salted . The service was excellent but the food was really bland , no where near to be an indian restaurant because nothing tasted indian, the butter chicken was sweeter than ice cream, it was more of a dessert than a starter . I would have given zero stars for food if it was allowed.

Nice staff, nice atmosphere but the food was over priced compared to most Indian restaurants - £16 for one small dish of curry is a lot. I expected something extra special for that price but all of the food was very mediocre - a real disappointment when you spend £80 on a meal.

Had a takeaway and the consensus was not good. All food was bright red and not very tasteless For me it was the worst curry I have had for many years

This was our first experience. We had read others' reviews and thought we could treat ourselves as we are on holiday. From first greeting to settling the bill this was a genuinely happy choice of restaurant. The service was quick, friendly and helpful to guide us through the extensive menu. The food was excellent and from the animated chatter from other diners (families, friends, colleagues) it very much appeared that they too were happy with their meals and drinks. Finally the cost..we were about 20 pounds per head - starter, main course, naan and a soft drink each...plenty! Certainly lived up to expectations..perhaps even better. The only minor issue being the tables are quite closely packed and if it had been even more busy (it was about 75% capacity) then it might get a little too noisy and less intimate for some.

At The The Royal Bengal, the vegetarian dishes were delightful, and the eco-friendly practices added to the appeal.

3 different waiters took care of us. Very confusing. Food was ok, but nothing special. The dish was supposed to be medium hot but we both got a feeling that the spices were not added at all to pur dishes

So we was here as family of 3.ordered vinadloo .tikka masala.jalfrezi 2 rice.pomadoms.nana bread pewsweri nan. Sever was on point.five star service by our server..ive never had a Indian meal out was so good.i ordered wrong curry was changed not problem at all.def recommend. Booked this for my Wife and I as a sit down meal. Got to the restaurant and were escorted through an area where loads of takeaway carriers are sat waiting for food to be put in them, under hot lamps The restaurant clearly has its focus on takeaway or delivery which is ok, but the table service was quite rushed and pressurised in the way our order was taken. The starters arrived with the accompanying sauces and chutneys served in plastic takeaway pots and wooden ice cream spoons to serve them with which was just plain odd when having a sit down meal ! Note - The restaurant menu is significantly smaller than the online menu is. Luckily the dishes we wanted were on there. The food was actually very nice, but it is one of the oddest Indian meals ever.

The set meals are NOT available for dining in- only as take-away. This is NOT made clear with online menu and door menu which may be said to be misleading. Staff friendly and attentive. My curry tasted like a really simple tomato sauce. Nan bread was generous in area but thin.

Our table was available on arrival. Food was absolutely delicious and seemed freshly cooked. Service was excellent and price reasonable. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in Nairn.

I’m a newbie eating at Indian takeaways and restaurants so I’m no expert, but this place is fabulous! The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and I am now addicted to the poppadoms and mint sauce. Last week we ate in the restaurant. I made a throwaway comment that I had to get a jar of the mint sauce as it was so delicious and as we left I was handed two tubs of it! This week we had takeaway, ordered it online and it was ready a few minutes after I turned up to collect. What’s not to love?

I was early for dinner as the restaurant hadn’t long opened. The owner was very friendly and helpful when it came to trying to think what dishes to eat! The smell of food in the restaurant was incredible!! I knew it was going to be great food and I was right! Food was hot/well presented! I couldn’t fault the food at all!! I’ll definitely be back!! Worth booking a table here when your in Nairn!!

Thank you to the RB for taking vegan options seriously. A lot of good choice. Great staff too, Elaine is always so helpful and nothing is too much effort for her or the others .

Beware when ordering a local delivery on their website. 50p service charge for using the site and £4.50 local delivery. The delivery wasn't added to my bill at the time of ordering and isn't mentioned on the website. It was added without my knowledge and was charged to my card. So £5 on top of the meal in total. The food was nice but this makes it an expensive experience.

Went in to the reception area to collect my pre ordered food. I said to the lady at the counter I had an online order to collect she never said a word and then put the bag in front of me and then walked away without saying a anything or asking the name. Lacking customer service skills or just rude? I’m not sure. Food was lovely which is why I scored 3.

Have eaten here 3 times this year, but that’s it. Drinks prices pretty ridiculous- £19 for 2 wines and 2 non-alcoholic beers. Vegetarian options sound good, but if you choose a paneer dish that’s all you get; no vegetables, just paneer and sauce. Nan bread and popadoms looked and tasted like they had been sitting around for a couple of hours. Had to ask for water, drinks menu not supplied. £55 for 2 mains, rice, nan and drinks is crazy. Not impressed.

Good service, reasonably priced. Had the chicken jalfrezi which was nicely spiced with generous amounts of chicken. We also had paneer masala which was less to my taste but my son liked it.

this was a return visit after a year. Chicken tikka masala was so bland i could have been eating anything. Needs more flavouring. Had to be the most bland i have had anywhere. No draught beers available, only bottles due to gas shortage during covid! Need to look at those supplies again! Staff were very attentive and really lovely. Not cheap meal for two people - one course and one bottle of beer - £53 will try somewhere else next time.

Menu is very limited and not really Bengali at all. Veg samosas to start were OK, similar to supermarket quality, but the dips were served in plastic containers with lids as if I were having take out! Garlic Naan was cooked well with a nice thinness to it, but it was covered in artificial garlic flakes that were really unpleasant. The Patak Lamb was very good though, and the lamb was super tender.

We brought our group of 20 to dinner here and they managed us all beautifully. Food was fresh and hot. Service was excellent. Very good Indian cuisine.

If you judge a book by its cover then this is the place for you, great branding when you start walk into a tastefully decorated restaurant. Food was fresh and clean without too much oils of fat. Naan was fresh and we left satisfied with our choices. Waiting Staff very friendly and helpful well done to them

We ate in The royal bengal last night (Hogmanay) to give it a try as Indian food is our thing, coming from Glasgow. We were very disappointed, as much as the staff were nice, the starters & main meal was totally rushed, we had no sooner finished our starters & our main meal arrived. I ordered chicken pakora for my starter, which can only be described as chicken dippers as it did not taste like Pakora, and seemed to be done in chip shop batter. My Husband had lamb tikka for his starter & as much as the lamb was tender, it was tasteless & bland. For my main meal I had a chicken tikka balti which seemed to have a bit more flavour etc but just didn’t have that kick/flavour you expect from a curry. My Husband had chicken tikka shashlick which again was flavourless & bland. The nan we ordered was the tastiest thing. For over £61 it certainly was not worth it in comparison to what we can get in Glasgow, we do not mind paying more as long as the food is decent , which it was not. Presentation was nice but I’m afraid we won’t be back.

The quality of the food here was top notch - succulent lamb in the Rogan Josh and the freshest king prawns in the Biryani. The flavours of both dishes were exceptional, including the generously portioned sides. We really enjoyed the ambience of this simple restaurant,...

We love a curry so when the kids were asked what they wanted for a holiday meal out this was their choice..great, authentic food and friendly customer service. Well worth a visit if in Nairn.

We dined in and had a lovely meal. The food was tasty, hot and plentiful. Service was friendly and the restaurant felt well cleaned. There is hand sanitiser on the tables which is a great touch.

So our expectation of a "Tandoori mix not so much "PLATTER" is an array of 3 small bits of tikka chicken 2 small bits of tikka lamb 1 small spicy sausage 1 small thigh of chicken tikka £13.95 no rice no sauce nothing it was very dry also asked for fried rice and got boiled...normally if we order something like this from our usual you get sauce nan rice and an actual PLATTER which includes half a chicken 5 bits of chicken tikka 5 bits tikka lamb 2 spicy sausage ect for that price won't be back although the husband had a smile on his face after he and his korma turned our alright....that's why they get a star....

Lovely traditional curries. I had tandoori chicken garlic chilli and it was the nicest one I’ve ever had (portions are huge) service was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was immaculate (hand sanitisers on tables etc).

Chicken tikka massalla had the redist sauce I have ever seen some of the chicken was OK some was tough as old boots , nice tasty sauces we had with other food , friendly staff

I’m a local as of Aug 2020 and wished I’d tried this place before. It’s tough with my hubby having nut allergy’s but the owner was brilliant.... a certain dish done without nuts and the others yummy!!! In fact his favourite was mine the one...

Use the Royal Bengal all the time. Never had a bed meal. Everything is fresh and really tasty. Worth a visit.

Ordered a set meal for two takeaway and waited at the restaurant.Got my takeout and straight back over to my dogs, less than 5 mins. The starters were Luke warm and greasy ( why weren't they hot, they were just cooked ? )Mains, the lamb dish was ok, chicken tikka was awful, bland tomato sauce, tasteless. Tried the sauces supplied and spiced onions just tasted odd. Waste of £25.....

Had a lovely takeaway from the Royal Bengal Nairn 10/10 delicious meal, hot & plenty of it. Would highly recommend.

We have had many take outs from the Royal Bengal and each one is just as good as the one before. We like to change our order each time and have not found anything we don’t like. Keep up the good work

Went last night as staying the night in Nairn. Limited on places open on Monday night. Our B&B recommended the BengalNice staff. Owner was very interesting to chat toSuperb Prawn Puri starters. Both main chicken dishes were lovely as was mushroom bhajiCouldn't fault the place. We were advised we chose the right Indian as the others are not so good in Nairn

I had the most fabulous meal in Royal Bengal. Everything from the crockery to the service was just perfect. The little dips were a treat and so unusual. My vegetarian Korma was the best I've ever had and my partner's Boona was equally delicious. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Had a truly wonderful dining-in experience with the Royal Bengal in Nairn. Even with the COVID regulations in place, the staff were warm, welcoming and very friendly. COVID wise, I was really impressed with the sanitisers on every table and the attentiveness of the staff along with the thorough clean of the table and seating areas when a customer leaves. The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala. Thank you a truly lovely evening!

Me and my fiancé are up from England visiting our friends in Nairn, we had an amazing meal from the royal Bengal.The food was quite simply amazing, the Indian take aways in England really could take a leaf out of the bengals book!Not only was the food exquisite but the food portions were extremely generous, we received much more than we would get at home!
