Nairn Tandoori in Highland

Lovely food and really friendly staff

Food was delicious but worst waitresses I have ever encountered. No smiles. No coming back to the table to ask if food was OK or if we needed anything else. And just looking angry. I've never seen anyone looking like they hate their job more than these waitresses.

Went last Sat night, 4 of us, pakora was very oily, food was very average. Service = was dismal, I’m sure the wee girls serving alcohol we not 18 and I would say zero training, absolutely zero customer engagement. Spoke to the manager about it on the way out – he offered me a free cold drink. This for me shows shows the whole problem, don’t fix it! He also told me the Indian waitress has very poor English, when I asked her a question, she rolled her eyes at me and ignored me, if she can’t speak the language management shouldn’t have her customer facing. If the food was amazing (and it certainly wasn’t) the dismal service would have ruined it. Would not recommend, the lack of service shows poor management and untrained staff that are customer facing. I’d rather stay at home and cook and enjoy the evening than pay £120 and be treated like dog turd. A simple how are you or is everything okay would be a start to the zero customer engagement.

Visiting from London with my American family and they had to try some Indian food so we checked these guys out and ordered twice throughout the holiday. Delicious food! not one thing we ordered was disappointing in any way... Such a lovely treat, as most things were gluten-free for my brother that has celiac and he didn't have any attacks while eating Nairn Tandoori 😋 service was thoughtful friendly and efficient, and even though we picked up the food I can tell the restaurant is very nicely decorated and spacious. Cheers for the delicious grub 👍🏼

Food was average. Not as tasty as most Indian dishes. Went here because it had the highest rating of the 3 Indian restaurants in Nairn. Would not go back

Had a lovely meal at Nairn Tandoori. Service was excellent. Staff were polite, attentive and went above and beyond to make our visit good. Food was delicicious and portion sizes were large.

On a visit to nairn I got a delivery,pakora was re heated,oily, didn't eat it.chicken tika was OK but not a lot of flavour, just chilli,sorry but next visit soon I'll be making my own and save approx £25

Curry was freezing cold when i phoned up they did not offer replacment or refund

Excellent meal for two absolutely delicious and really very good portion for price what I pay . Hardly recommend and surly no be disappointed

My husband and I, from Nova Scotia, Canada, wanted our last meal to be an authentic East Indian meal ... and we got it in spades!!! My husband loved the flavourful hot dishes, and I loved my flavourful mild ones. Excellent flavour, tender meat, crisp vegetables, naan bread, papadams, and chutney. We got our money's worth and a meal that Gorden Ramsey would love!! 🥰

It was like stepping back into the early 80's. Classic Indian restaurant menu, with a few twists, but all the old favourites were there. The food was well prepared, fresh and very tasty. The place is a little worn around the edges, but it sort of adds to the atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would go again next time we are in the area.

Quick service, and very welcoming staff. Food was great … and service was swift and efficient. We had been turned away from another restaurant for not having a reservation…. Really enjoyed our meal here … and welcomed in on spec.

Really superb, food, staff, price, couldn't fault a thing. If you're ever in doubt where to go in Nairn go here. Four of us in our party are well versed in the Indian places in Aberdeen, this place more than held it's own, couldn't fault it.

In my opinion this is by far the best Indian restaurant in the area, great food all the time, eat in or take away. The staff are always friendly, can get busy at dinner time for take away.

Second Time we have had a takeaway when staying in Nairn. The food is amazing. Ordered Lamb Tiger Khan for my wife and Lamb Madras extra spicy for me. The owner suggested I have it with added Garlic & Chilli and wow it was absolutely amazing full of texture, heat & flavour. Would highly recommend. The staff are so helpful and polite, can't wait to return.

Excellent food; wide variety of traditional dishes, all fresh and well executed. Host, server, busboy all curt, lazy, surly and at times, downright rude. Manager/owner saved the day with his competence.

My only problem with the food is how Westernized it all was. Everything lacked any flavor complexity and was extremely mild, even the things that were supposed to have some kick. My Indian boyfriend was extremely disappointed. I did enjoy the Tiger Khan Lamb, but even there I'd say it needs some cumin powder, coriander powder, and chili powder (or black pepper), to start.

Enjoyed our meal at the Nairn Tandoori. Food excellent and portions good.

First of all, we were welcomed in a cold atmosphere by two young girls (waitresses) who were literally sulking. One of the two asks me if I want a special starter that is on the menu, I ask her what this dish is, she tells me that she doesn't know, it's off to a good start Then the Indian breads are not even real, they are pizza dough breads, there coconut rice is simply sprinkled with coconut shavings I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant, the atmosphere is enough to scare away customers.

Dish too sweet and full of sauce only. Frame that needs to be refreshed. We got sick after eating there.

We go here all the time. Done birthdays here and family get togethers. Staff helpful and friendly. Great food.

Only called in for takeaway staff pleasant and friendly

Ten points for service and for the food. Lovely people who are aiming to please and to help you. We got a guided tour through the menu (we were first time tandoori tasters). Recommended for those important things. We got distracted by the idea this would only be a takeaway, but it surely is more then that. Nice ambience as a restaurant. Price is good. Quality of the food is very good. Don't miss this restaurant, near to Inverness.

Very quick service big portions very tasty meal best Indian in Nairn

On holiday touring the Highlands with friends and we chose this very nice Indian Restaurant for dinner. We made the right choice! We had a Chicken Bhuna with Pilau Rice and Garlic Naan (absolutely delicious, with meltingly tender chicken and perfect rice and Naan). My son had a Chicken Jalfrezi which was very spicy he said, as it should be. My two friends both had a Lamb Karahi and finished every mouthful!. The whole meal was great, washed down with some Kingfisher Lager. The restaurant was very busy (Saturday night) and the staff were friendly and attentive but not intrusive. All in all, a very nice meal and we would highly recommend!

Staying in Nairn for one night for work I was drawn to the Nairn Tandoori to test out my favourite Jalfrezi, it didn’t disappoint, just the right amount of sauce and green chilli’s combined with keema rice it was delicious and I scored it a 10. The staff were polite and knowledgeable and I’ll definitely return when in the area.

Ordered meal to pick up in 20 minutes. I was there on time , meal was waiting for me. Got home chicken on bone was very dry every thing else was tasteless. I'll give it nill poor. Rubbish.👎

Let us in just before closing, so kind. The food was fantastic, fragrant. The best we've had since moving close to Nairn 2 months ago. Eveytime we walk past it smells fantastic! We cleaned the bowls and took leftovers home, excellent portion sizes. Waiter was lovely, chef came out to check with us about my partner's nut allergy. Absolutely brilliant, 100% recommend!

My Husbands Birthday/Retirement, and after driving me home after my stay in Hospital in Glasgow, I got him a home delivery from Nairn Tandoor as I felt so bad at ruining his special day. It was the worst home delivery food we have ever had. Absolutely disgusting! We will never use Nairn Tandoori again and I would not recommend them to anyone.

We ordered take out for dinner and got butter chicken, tandoori chicken, poppadoms and samosas. Everything was pretty tasty albeit fairly sweet.

The restaurant unfortunately seems confused when it comes to food that is suitable for vegans. I'm not sure if a vegan would feel comfortable to order there

Only down side is that the restaurant decor is outdated and bland, but despite that, the food we had was terrific. Had the chicken tiger Khan with coconut rice and it was brilliant

This is first time I've had something from here, I live in England but leaving tomorrow to go back, so I ordered the curry, what a lovely curry it was wished I had one sooner, but when I come back I'll be ordering again, thankyou

Food is okay. Everything is sweet and lacks salt (just like any Bangladeshi restaurant in Scotland). This is NOT Indian food, its a attempt to make Indian food by Bangladeshi chef who had only heard about Indian food in stories. If you crave Indian food, there are limited options in Inverness but if you have no choice then give this place a try.

Really flavorful, spicy dishes! Dhansak was a new dish to me, so I got it with a side of mushroom bhaji. Both were excellent, but the dhansak was an intense medium spicy that had me sniffling and looking for lassi (the restaurant doesn't serve it). They also don't serve chai tea, so I was a bit disappointed by the beverage options. Alcohol is also unavailable, but they have no problem if you bring your own. They did have garlic naan which was fab. For the flavors and service, I'd go back, but it felt so unlike a typical Indian restaurant, I'd also like to try somewhere else.

Had a delicious takeaway from here. Fresh and full flavoured dishes. The chicken kata masala is probably the best curry I've ever eaten. Great quality and quick delivery.

Big Mo and Dilwar were just amazing people to be served by. If you do come to the restaurant and are served by them then you are blessed. Big ups!

Been to Nairn on holiday twice now and had food from here on both occasions and both times it was excellent and nothing is to much trouble,The staff very polite, going back to nairn in 3 weeks and this will be my go to restaurant, look forward to eating here again, keep up the good work

Extremely rude. When I enquired the reason for treating customers rudely , the restaurant receptionist asked us to get out!. Not only that ,they are such a liar when responding to the review. They are open throughout the afternoon,but responded as just opened to answer the review. There was nobody in the whole restaurant, I think nobody bother to come due to their rude behaviours ,only takeaways. They confirmed their phone number to confirm that their receptionist was rude ,but not apogized for that , but asked us to get away. They are horrible! Thank god nearby restaurant ' Royal bengal' was there. Save yourself , don't visit them. They are dishonest in their reply, god knows what they are feeding you!

I forgot to take photos, but wow, the food is amazing and the staff were super friendly. I had the chicken tikka masala (cliche I know!) and the dish was a great portion with huge chunks of juicy chicken is a very tasty sauce. Everyone left full and satisfied. Highly recommended and a special shoutout to the young lady who was working there for the first time - you did great!!

Having Indian food in the UK is one of the reasons to go there. Way better dishes and offerings than what one would get in the USA. I've been to probably 50 Indian restaurants and I would go back to this one. They serve all the classics and do it well.

Given the reviews available I was expecting better of the food. The batter on the pakora would have been better on a banana fritter, it was thick and heavy unlike any gram flour batter I have ever had. The curries were good but the naan bread was like uncooked pizza dough and not enjoyable at all. The staff were not jovial and involved as previously described in one review but uninterested. The menu, as in the leaflets picked up the day before did not exist, no buffet and no set meals. Rating as a 2 is me being very generous

Went here for a takeaway and certainly was not disappointed. The food here was brilliant and the portions were of generous size. We had 4 different meals and everyone said they really enjoyed their food. Lots of different flavours cooked to perfection.

I went here with my partner, who had the Tiger Khan curry, while I had a Pasanda. Both curries were very tasty, and the portion sizes were generous. Staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was nice and relaxed.

Got tandoori king prawn masala, have to say very disappointed with the amount of prawns to sauce ratio, 5 prawns in a large dish of sauce, skinny fries that are for oven done in fryer and not fully cooked and chicken pakora really greasy, and some kind of yellow sauce not a proper pakora sauce, definitely not value for money only positive was delivery time, won't be going back anytime soon

Good customer service curry was a poor show

Got a set meal for two to take away food is lovely, had it twice in one week only they don't do spiced onions with poppadoms, kind of normal onions, asked for less chicken n more sauce with second korma got what I asked for, pakora n sauce was amazing, didn't wait long either, would definitely go here again. 100%
