Rowton Castle Restaurant in Shropshire

Husband and I stayed on Sunday 14th April for one night for pre birthday stay. Management and Staff was brilliant especially the 2 Karen's. Baldwin room was amazing with view of gardens and country views. Food for our evening meal was first class cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back again. X

Attended an evening wedding reception here and it was lovely. The grounds are beautiful and so was the part of the building the reception was held. Drinks were reasonably priced and the hotdogs served were huge and really nice.

Incredible! There aren't enough good words in the world to express how perfect our wedding day was. The venue is stunning and the staff are phenomenal. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We also didn't have to worry about a thing. They are amazing value for money, especially compared to other places. Plus you don't need to pay much for decorations as the castle doesn't need anything as it's already amazing. I wish I could do the day all over again. Thank you.

Came here for a night for my husbands 60th birthday. Lovely place set in beautiful grounds, staff very friendly, breakfast was very nice. Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely place for family wedding.

I had the pleasure of getting married here at rowton castle on valentine's day,from arrival the staff was professional, friendly and very welcoming,nothing was to much trouble.the rooms were excellent as was the food.the staff especially Lewis who looked after us on our wedding day a big thumbs up.will definitely be going back to spend a weekend there on our first anniversary.i would highly recommend rowton castle for a wedding,the castle and grounds are amazing.thank you for making our day magical

The team really made our day so perfect on Friday. Everyone who was involved was so helpful and professional, and we had an absolutely fantastic wedding. The venue is stunning, the rooms were luxurious and comfortable, and the whole place was spotless. The food served by the on-site catering team was lovely, and they accommodated all of our dietary requests with no issues whatsoever. We wanted to particularly thank the team for being so responsive and attentive during the planning process, and to acknowledge the efforts of Lucy, Josh, Dani and the team who worked hard for us on the day. This is an extraordinary place to stay. I'm not someone who is easily impressed and I've been lucky to stay in some of the world's finest places and eat in some of the best restaurants out there, and Rowton Castle can compete with the best. Stunning location and the castle has been invested in and maintained to a high standard. This is backed up by the exclusive and stylish restaurant serving exquisite food and the thing that tips this place into top class is simply the service. The team from reception to the support team and the restaurant staff are beyond first class. Then there is the bill. For the service I got I'd expect to pay two or three times what the actual bill was. Can't recommend a visit highly enough.

As a wedding photographer, I've had the pleasure of capturing countless memories in various venues, and Rowton Castle stands out as a gem of a wedding location. I’ve been there in the height of the summer on some of the hottest days and let me tell you, the air conditioning is top notch. Not only that but in the winter it makes for the most amazing, cozy wedding venues. It’s just great all round. Fab views, grounds, outdoor ceremony space, great staff. It’s got it all really. I’m back next month and very much looking forward to it!

My daughter got married here on Sunday 9th May 2022. It was amazing. The wedding had to be cancelled on 3 separate occasions because of covid and was originally due to take place in Las Vegas. I'm so glad that my now Son in law Jay found this venue because it was like something out of Downton Abbey. We couldn't fault the venue at all so a big thank you to everyone at Rowton Castle for making my daughter's wedding so memorable. We also stayed there for 2 nights and the rooms which were all themed were amazing. X

Just got back from staying in this amazing place for my brother Andy and his new wife Julie's wedding from arriving to leaving the standard of customer service was excellent from front of house to catering, reception,house-keeping you all are doing an amazing job keep up the excellent work,big shout out to Lewis who was with us for the wedding day you are amazing nothing was to much trouble you went above and beyond absolute credit to the castle, the castle and the grounds are beautiful and I would highly recommend this venue to everyone, food was outstanding, I will definitely be coming back for a visit, keep up all the good work that you are all doing 😊😊😊😊😊

A wonderful location and the staff could not be more welcoming, the rooms are very well equipped however the mattress does feel rather hard and certainly not befitting a premium quality suite. It would have been nice also to have more options with coffee rather than just a drip coffee. All in all we enjoyed our time there and can see that it would be such a wonderful venue for a wedding.

We didn't end up picking rowton castle for our wedding venue but I just wanted to commend Lorraine who showed us around the venue last year. She made us feel so welcomed and explained everything so well. She was so hospitable and offered us drinks and made us feel at home. She was understanding, funny and down to earth. We had a good time viewing the venue and rooms. Thanks Lorraine!

What an amazing place we attended a wedding on 29.1.24 the venue, staff, surroundings all totally outstanding we have had an amazing weekend. The staff are so attentive couldn't do enough for you, all totally polite and professional if I was to get married again I would choose this venue without doubt xxx thank you to all the staff Peter and Karen Frediani

Excellent location for weddings. Rooms were comfy but with not great facilities. Found the shower not working, only small amounts in the tea and coffee shelf. ie only 1 small bottle each of water and soda water.

We had a very pleasant stay, enjoyed the surroundings and staff very helpful.

The venue is fantastic. Our night was great thanks to Conor who worked tirelessly behind the bar serving us great quality drinks. Thanks again Conor for your excellent service. 10/10. Gareth was a a pleasure to deal with and very professional.

We got married at Rowton Castle on 1.12.2023. We cannot recommend this venue highly enough! From the very start of the planning process to check out the day after the wedding, everyone we came into contact with was exceptional! Nothing is too much trouble, and you really feel you are dealing with the bespoke wedding venue. We got all of our wedding suppliers from Rowton's recommended list - they were all fabulous! All the food was outstanding, from canapes, to the wedding breakfast, to the evening buffet (and late night bacon rolls). So many of our guests commented on the quality of the food and very generous portions! We had a the best day of our lives - it was utterly perfect thanks to the wonderful staff and recommended wedding suppliers. A magical fairytale day!

We had the most perfect magical wedding day at Rowton Castle on 2/9/23. It was truly like a fairytale and I would 100% recommend to anyone. A special mention to Corryn, Josh and Gareth who really helped to make our day an absolutely unforgettable one. Rowton Castle will always be a special place for us. Mr and Mrs Keeling.

We got married at Rowton castle in May and we’ve just been back to stay the night, this place is fabulous, the staff are fabulous, nothing is too much trouble for them and they’ve always got a smile on their face and happy to help, if you are thinking about having your wedding at Rowton or just staying the night then, Do!! Simply the best hotel I have stayed in in over 10 years. The castle itself was stunning to behold and the grounds were breath-taking and incredibly well kept. Parking was spacious and easy to locate. Apon entering I was greeted by the wonderfully friendly and professional staff. So kind and welcoming nothing was too much trouble simply a credit to the hotel. The interior of the castle was so beautiful i will remember it for many years to come, Very historic an steeped in history it was a joy to behold, truly. My room (9) was well no other word suites, perfect. Spotlessly clean and easily the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Period correct antique furnishings really set the mood for this remarkable experience. Bathroom was fabulous also clean and well appointed no complaints. The grounds are amazing and well worth a look around very peaceful and a feast for the eyes. My sleep was again perfect and incredibly silent no disruptions all night so very pappy indeed. I was greeted by the lovely lady during Breakfast in the morning, she was so friendly and a credit to the hotel again nothing was too much bother 10/10. The breakfast itself was so delicious and very well presented and quality of ingredients was top drawer which I appreciate. Highly recommended.

Wonderful location for a quiet stay, or for a large wedding. We stayed over while travelling to a nearby appointment the next day. The staff are really nice and the happiest hotel group I can recall. That must be down partly to the location and the peacful, tranquil that the castle sits in. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Access from the nearby main roads is good. A morning stroll in the grounds and the opportunity to scrump apples from the walled garden orchard made our visit extra special.

We have had the BEST day at Rowton Castle after we booked a late availability package. They were so flexible and accommodating, using some of the decor I already had and beautifully presenting this with some of the included pieces from the package. Corryn, Gemma and Elise all supported in the planning process and we're incredibly quick at responding to any questions or queries and transparent about costs etc. Johan and Lewis were also amazing – just the friendly and reassuring voices I think we needed with the adrenaline, nerves and excitement as we prepared for the big day. Joshua was a brilliant addition that evening as well and we were so pleased to feel the warmth and kindness from all staff working that day.

The most beautiful wedding venue we've ever been too. We had our son's wedding here. It worked out cheaper than anywhere else we looked, and it was better. Lots of extras added for your money etc. The staff, the venue, the food, the quality, the rooms, everything was amazing! Never experienced anything like it. 10/10!

Lovely Castle with god rooms and a really nice breakfast.

Went here for a wedding, the castle was a brilliant location, it has indoor and outdoor facilities incase it was to rain and the ceremony needed to be moved indoors. Food was fantastic and kept coming. All the staff were very good, helpful and friendly. Can fully recommend it.

My wife and I married here on the 15th August 2023. It was the most perfect day. Rowton Castle is a spectacular venue with incredible views, wonderful grounds, beautifully decorated interior in-keeping with the Castle's history and we could not have have picked a better venue for our big day. Throughout the entire process, the staff at Rowton Castle could not have been more helpful. We had a LOT of specific requests, especially relating to allergies, which were all catered for without question or fuss. All of the staff were incredible, no matter who we spoke to, but I must pay a particular mention to Abi, our host for the actual day of the wedding. Abi was incredible and as bride and groom, the biggest compliment we can give Abi and the whole of the Castle staff is that we did not want for anything on our big day and not a single issue impacted our day. It was quite incredible how seamless the day went and this was all due to the staff at Rowton. The food was exquisite! Every single guest complimented the food, with some even commenting that it was too much food which is unheard of at any wedding venue. All of the suppliers that we used worked seamlessly with the Castle to ensure all went to plan...florists, cake makers, falconry display, DJ, outdoor entertainment...it was just an incredible day. Thank you to all at Rowton Castle for making this the most wonderful day a Bride and Groom could ask for.

Absolute perfect day! Joe and I decided to only have 3 months between our engagement and our wedding. We chose Rowton Castle based on how stunning it is and the affordable price of the late availability package. From the day we confirmed our wedding date, the wedding coordinators (particularly Corryn) were exceptional in taking time to speak with us on multiple occasions and promptly answering any questions we sent via email. They were so kind and genuine throughout the whole planning process. We were lucky that there was not a wedding the day before ours, so our guests were able to spend two days and two nights there. This meant we were able to catch up with family/ friends beforehand and spend more time together as a couple during our wedding. The castle was beautifully and tastefully decorated for Christmas (which helped keep our decorating costs down). There was a nice little surprise when we arrived- the in house florist had scattered vases of white roses and eucalyptus around the lounge and reception which were the flowers we had planned on using. There was no coordination, just a happy little coincidence. Lewis was our MC the day of and he was just the best ever! Lewis kindly assisted my dad and I by running through our music and walk down the aisle the night before which helped us feel more at ease during the ceremony the next day. The day of, Lewis constantly checked on both Joe and I and reassured us of everything he and the staff were taking care of. He was just amazing and helped make our day perfect. Thank you also to Abi who was there the night before and helped my family and I settle in. I truly cannot thank all of the people at Rowton Castle enough for making our day the absolute best. I would 100000% recommend!

Myself and my partner got married at Rowton Castle in August 2023 and were absolutely blown away by the incredible staff and obviously stunning venue. We live an hour and a half away and some guests were sceptical about having to travel so far for a wedding, that is until they arrived and could see straight away why we chose Rowton Castle. It honestly took my breath away driving up the driveway and seeing the castle for the first time. The castle is amazing inside and out with so many locations for photographs. The inside and outside ceremony locations were set up and a decision on where to hold the ceremony was made at the last minute (due to the very changeable summer weather we have had!) which was amazing. The interior has had a refurb since we booked the venue, it is such a beautifully decorated building. So many people at my wedding mentioned how impressed they were with the attentive staff and they loved the fact that during the wedding breakfast, Gavin made sure no drinks were ever empty and Dannie was always making sure that we were looked after. No request was too great, they really made sure everyone was happy and we had the perfect day. The bedrooms are lovely and fitting with what you would want at a castle venue. Breakfast is not too early either meaning everybody could make their way down at their own pace and have a relaxing, delicious breakfast. As well as this, the meal that we had and the evening food were both amazing. The portion sizes were just right and there were lots of compliments about the food, such as the best tomato soup the MOH has ever had. The Orchard Suite at the Tower House for the bride and bridesmaids the night before the wedding was also fantastic. The beds were comfy, the showers warm, the fridges and shelves stocked with all sorts. The breakfast that arrived was amazing, with so many lovely pastries and fruits, we could never have eaten it all. Thank you so much to everyone at Rowton Castle for truly making our day so perfect, we loved every minute and would recommend it to anyone, the most stunning venue and amazing staff.

Visited for a wedding. Stunning venue Lovely helpful staff Food was really tasty, everyone enjoyed it all. I'm gluten free so mine was a bit different, the beef dinner was really nice but the gluten free dessert which I think was also vegan was sadly vile, the seeded bread roll i was served with my meal was not nice and was the same type of round bread roll I was given for a huge hot dog during the evening, the hot dog was delicious, though i saw a huge risk of cross contaimination with the cumbs from everyone elses bread, i dont think their understanding of cc was that great, the canapés after the ceremony were also lacking in quantity, I was presented with a small slate tile of 3 gluten free canapés, the ones I did eat were nice but just not enough of them. The wedding was lovely and everyone had a great time, the regular food was enjoyed by all, just the gluten free that was a little bit disappointing for me but OK :)

What an incredible venue, so much history, we attended for a wedding and stayed the night. Everything during the day was amazing from the ceremony, to the evening reception. Food was delicious, staff were helpful, I would highly recommend this place.

We got married here in April 2023 and what a fantastic experience we received from our initial enquiry to our wedding day. We booked Rowton Castle on our first visit as we were blown away by the beauty of the place. Our wedding coordinator was Corryn and she was amazing, got back to me over email about any little thing I needed and was such a calm, pleasant person to deal with. On the day, Gareth took care of everything and what a phenomenal man he is, he really went out his way to make sure everything ran smoothly and made our day very special. We’re so glad we picked Rowton and would highly recommend if you’re looking for a wedding venue with beautiful scenery, good accommodation and reasonably priced.

Can’t praise this place highly enough. If you’re looking for the whole magical castle wedding then this is for you! Wonderful experience from booking through to our actual day. We will be back to celebrate anniversaries I’m sure!

Absolutely loved our stay here. The room was quaint and very clean. The food at breakfast was delicious. The grounds were gorgeous. And the front desk ladies were so warm and welcoming. We wanted to stay in a castle while in Scotland and this was the perfect place.

Rowton Castle gym is an efficiently run organisation. The staff are knowledgeable regarding the equipment and techniques. Safety is paramount, very good experience.

Beautiful venue - daughter got married in Rowton castle, on a sunny day in June. Both gardens & indoors was so perfect. Staff are always helpful and they took care of the guests very well. Wedding breakfast was so delicious 😋 - impressed by the vegetarian options given to us. The desserts were heavenly; our favourite was lemon cheesecake. Highly recommend the place.

We were lucky enough to be guests at a friends wedding at Rowton Castle. It is one of the very best wedding venues I have been at. The location is extremely picturesque with many excellent photo opportunities. Inside it seems smaller than you might expect but has a nice intimate atmosphere. The staff and service were very good. I was particularly impressed with the food. A large meal for a Wedding party with everyone served different meals but all at the same time must be one of the most challenging tasks in catering, but the meal was really excellent and the service very slick and well organised with no excessive waiting. The staff were efficient and attentive and knew before they arrived at the table who everyone was and what they were having. The wine was good, too, and from what the Wedding couple told me it was very reasonably priced. Breakfast next day was very nicely cooked and again service was excellent. It is difficult to find any downsides to mention, perhaps the only thing was the sound insulation in the bedrooms. I believe the hotel part of the building was added during WW2 and, whilst it looks and feels in keeping with the rest of the venue, the walls must be a bit thin! Not much the management can do about that - but if you are staying overnight - try and pick a room next to someone who doesn't suffer from sleep apnea! ;)

1000% should be more than 5 stars! Had our wedding here and it was beyond what we could have imagined. It was the first venue we looked at and after visiting just 2 after ..nothing compared. Location is picture perfect and the staff go beyond any expectation even with the smallest of details to make the day perfect. We can't thank you enough ! If we had to do it again we would still choose you ❣️🎉

Stayed here for the Dodd wedding back in sept 2018, was absolutely gorgeous.. view from room was fabulous over the old big tree... I even brought a robe for a gift for my mum as well. Will def be back again.

Our wedding took place at Rowton Castle on the 20th of March, 2023. Two words - absolutely incredible! We are so so happy we chose Rowton Castle to be our wedding venue. The staff were all fantastic with us and our guests throughout the entire experience; from booking the venue to the actual day, it has been fantastic. Special shout-out to Lewis who made sure our day ran smoothly, and Gemma + Corryn who helped us prepare for one of the most important days of our lives!! Rest assured if you have your wedding here, you’re in safe hands and don’t have to worry when to get somewhere or what to do, as it’ll be very organised and run by an incredible team. The food was absolutely tasty and I’m such a fussy eater so finding something I like is so hard sometimes. All of our guests loved it too! Rowton Castle also catered for dietary requirements which we really appreciated. The venue itself is stunning and we fell in love with it from the very start. It was everything we ever dreamed of! I’d recommend coming to see the castle for yourselves so you can see how beautiful it is. Thanks again to Rowton Castle for making our special day so perfect!

Amazing dinner experience!! The venue speaks for itself with an incredible view of the castle lit up at night as you drive in to the main entrance. The staff are amazing and friendly. Greet you in the cloakroom take you to the lounge for drinks and order food. Then once your table is prepared they take you over to the dining area. Food is amazing, beautiful ambiance, staff are quick and friendly. An incredible evening, reasonably priced for such a great location. Definitely coming back here, and highly recommend to all. Child friendly. We had a chance to see the room for weddings. We’d love to have a ceremony here. Next on the list is spending a weekend in the hotel.

Stayed here for one night - have passed it so many times on the way to Wales and it's always looked amazing! It didn't disappoint - absolutely beautiful venue. We stayed in the Yockleton Superior 4 poster room - just beautiful. From the moment we arrived the reception staff were lovely, the bar staff amazing and then had an equally amazing dinner. Our waiter was Josh a young man with impeccable manners and is a credit to the company. We had full English breakfast again served by Josh before setting off for a wander round Shrewsbury and lunch before heading home. Rowton Castle has been on my bucket list of places to stay and we are definitely going back with some friends for a longer stay. My only complaint is they don't take dog!! But I do get that!

Having attended a wedding here, I can confirm this is a beautiful venue, my children have multiple food allergies and they were catered for perfectly. Great experience from start to finish.

Beautiful, historic and classic castle. Lovely place to visit and explore. Staff are very welcoming and very helpful. There is ample free parking spaces aswell. Would only suggest to be careful when coming into the castle from the main road as you could miss it due to the small sign outside.

Absolutely stunning place with the best staff at hand

My daughter Tessa and new son Matt had their wedding 29 December 22. At any time a wedding is stressful and there is a lot to do. However, the staff at Rowton are exceptional in their customer service. Nothing phases them, the support is incredible. Abi ensured the day went smoothly even to the extent of getting maintenence to sort out the groom's belt. All catering was superb and all of the guests have said how much they enjoyed the day. Luxurious venue for a wedding. The rooms were beautifully set & genuinely lovely despite bad weather outside. We stayed over as there is little close by. Family Room a little over dominated with decorative but large old furniture squeaky and a bit obsolete. More space with smaller more useful furniture. Our bed pillows and bedding lovely. Bathroom good. Soap and shampoo in a dispenser. No plastic waste. great! Staff were efficient and accommodating. Not majorly friendly on front desk but this is a wedding venue predominantly. Breakfast was to order and lovely but early 7.30 am until 9.30am with checkout 10.30am on a Sunday after a wedding. This was tight ...again maybe because the rooms need a lot of cleaning. The food was amazing at the wedding party. Chicken was moist. Food plentiful with extra sauce in side. Check in for a wedding 1pm. Some rooms ready earlier also. great.

I would like to thank all the staff at Rowton Castle for making my daughter's wedding on the 28th of December so perfect. From the moment we arrived at the Tower house on the eve of the wedding everything was taken out of our hands and we could relax. The day itself was wonderful filled with love and laughter. We got married at Rowton Castle on 21st December 2022. From start to finish the staff there showed how much they truly care about couples having their most perfect day. As soon as we had been for our first look around, we knew we wanted this to be our venue. We never for one moment regretted this decision. On the day itself Lewis and Abi were on hand at every step to make sure we were happy with each detail. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all at Rowton.

Just the Best Day Ever Well what can i say, we celebrated our daughters wedding on the 19/11/22 and we had the most incredible day. The castle and the grounds are just stunning, but that was only part of the experience. I have to say the staff from the booking 18 months ago right up to checkout the day after were all outstanding. They reassured my daughter every step of the way and catered to our every need. Always making the bride and groom feel secure that the castle had eveything in hand, which was lovely as it can be a stressful time. Everything went perfectly, family and friends had an absolute ball. The food was gorgeous and piping hot. The staff were all polite, professional and courteous. I would like to thank every single one of you for making Amy and Toms day so very special. We hope to see you all very soon x

Had my wedding there on the 3rd of October this year and I honestly can say I couldn't have asked for a better day. The venue is gorgeously picturesque. We were lucky enough to have the weather for an outside ceremony and the views from the Lindon Belvedere both out over the Shropshire countryside and of the castle itself are divine. The interior event rooms and bedrooms are gorgeously decorated in a style in keeping with the castle to make you really feel like you're living your fairytale wedding dreams. Nothing is too much for the staff and they bent over backwards to make sure we were completely happy with everything both on the run up in the planning meetings and on the day of the wedding itself. I always felt that the details had been taken care of and could relax and enjoy our day without worry. I truly couldn't recommend the place more and honestly 5 stars isn't enough. We will definitely be going back to stay when we can.

Absolutely incredible. We got married here in 10th October 2022. Myself and the bridesmaids stayed overnight on the 9th in tower house and Ryan greeted us and helped unload. He was very friendly and informed us that he would be in charge of our wedding day. Throughout the day we were well cared for, everything was explained, and the place looked absolutely fabulous. It was everything I imagined and just so much more. Nothing was too much trouble, the place was clean and tidy and the bedrooms were lovely. The wedding breakfast was a hit with everybody complimenting the food and the service. Abby(spelling?) took over From Ryan the evening of the wedding day and made sure myself and the groom had everything we needed including delivering some food to the Rowton suite as we didn't find time to eat. The morning after was breakfast and again everything was great. Up to the wedding any emails I sent (no matter how silly) were responded to quickly and professionally and they did their utmost to help. I cannot find a single bad thing to say, I just wish we could have stayed longer ❤️

Was fortunate enough to perform live music at a wedding here and was blown away! The venue is nothing short of stunning. Can't wait to go back! Provided live music for the ceremony and drinks reception outside and the space is beautiful.
