My partner and I had breakfast here. We were quickly seated and had our order taken in perfect timing. We found this café to be adorable with very friendly staff working there😊🥓

Mini brunch, fried egg crispy, beans and bacon warmish, the sausage I did not even taste and lots of cold chips. £8.50 wasted. Never again.

Quick visit for lunch before an event at the AO, friendly staff and big menu. Food quality average at best - omelette was passable but small in size compared with chips which were lukewarm.

Having checked the opening times online, I visited at around 3:15pm. One of the servers came to the counter and asked what I wanted. I noticed mushrooms and other breakfast items were still on display, so I asked if they had any bacon/sausage sandwiches. Another server then interjected and told me that they did not, and they weren’t serving anymore. I’m not quite sure why I was turned away, but as a result I went to Café North and got a (probably much better) bacon, sausage and egg butty.

I am very disappointed, went there for home maid pie, changed my mind last minute and got the big breakfast, big mistake, the only thing on the plate i liked was the bacon, the sausage was awful, mushrooms was a horrible grey colour they tasted like they had been boiled, the black pudding wasn't cooked enough, would not go there again.

We just so happened to come across this cafe on a visit to Manchester, the food was home made and hot , compliments to the chef it tasted good very good shell certainly pay another visit when that way again.

My boyfriend and I eat here all the time! The fish and chips are great, the breakfasts are great, it's all great. The staff are lovely. Good value for money. Lovely pics of the Coronation St characters on the walls. Can't speak highly enough of the place.

Marie manager was honestly horrible treating people in cafe. So disrespectful and aggressive. I’m highly recommending this woman should be fired,cause that’s not normal what she was saying to people. I will make sure that the police report will be done in this place cause of this woman.

At last a traditional cafe, excellent full English breakfast and plenty of toast. Cannot recommend enough. Good food, good value.

I am a regular at this cafe as i live in the city centre, and i usually have the full English breakfast .... it's a basic, busy city centre cafe serving basic food, no fuss, no frills , which suits me down to the ground .... it's the type of place that you could go in on your own, and you don't feel awkward, all kinds of people use it including construction workers, shoppers and families , old and young ..... the staff are always helpful ...... my only small 'gripe', is that the food can sometimes be a bit on the lukewarm side, but a mention to the staff and they will quickly amend it ..... the place never seems to be short of customers, either eating in, or taking away, and has stood the test of time, which probably speaks volumes for it.

Rowntrees - amazing! Friendly staff, loads to choose from, we had toasties and a brew all really well cooked and tasty. Busy traditional cafe serving bacon, bacon, bacon, sosauges, fried bread, chips , gravy sandwiches ....... and lots more, will be back for the mega breakfast. Bank debit listed as 'Fatsos' - must be trying to tell me something 🤔

I had a large breakfast and swapped out the black pudding and mushrooms for extra hash brown which was no trouble at all! this place was just what I was looking for a good tradition fry-up with out all the fancy stuff and a good size portion. It came with a large coffee and two slices of toast for £7 which i think is very reasonable and kept me full for hours! Not the highest quality food but was very tasty and just what i needed! you get what you pay for! the staff were friendly and I didn't feel awkward sat on my own!

Stopped in here for breakfast on the start to our trip around Manchester, its not been the first time we've stopped in here and I know it wont be the last, the quality is always good, hot food and pleasant service. Always a good start to your day to be full of good food from a quaint little place.

Was on our way to the train station before heading for home so needed breakfast so called in here .What a mistake, ordered the veggie breakfast, my partner ordered bacon , egg, sausage and a spoonful of beans with toast and a coffee each total £14.Now don’t mind paying if the food is good but this certainly wasn’t , my veggie breakfast had eggs beans , loads of tomatoes and luke warm tinned mushrooms, not a veggie sausage in sight ,wouldn’t cost much to add this to the breakfast.We were seated next to the swinging door that led to the kitchen so had to put up with the continued banging back and forth .Witnessed the waitress returning to the kitchen with fish and chips which a customer had complained about and the waitress was muttering to herself as she passed “ nothing wrong with this” .My partner went to the counter to pay and was stood for over 5 minutes before being seen too.I found out the reason for the lukewarm warm when she returned as she mentioned the food at the counter was in stainless steel tubs with each ingredient in and this was used to fill your order so wasn’t cooked fresh .The quality of the food was poor as the ingredients tasted cheap .Surprised the cafe had a steady stream of customers but we won’t certainly visit again the next time we visit Manchester, and I am not one to complain as it’s my first ever negative review but the food was just so poor .

Visited in December. Certainly seems to offer the old school type cafe meals although I only had a coffee. Staff were very friendly. It has to entrances so wrap up as in winter it can be a bit draughty

Fuimos aquí para encontrar una comida aquí ya que hemos tenido un buen desayuno abundante allí y no nos decepcionaron. Tuve una tarta casera y mi compañero tenía un chip - buttie. Había comida más que suficiente para comer, a pesar de que era muy sabrosa. La comida estaba caliente y casera. Me encantaron las verduras y las papas fritas de la cabaña, que me llenaron. El chip de mi compañero - el trasero estaba lleno de chips. Se recomendó probar el fish and chips, que probará la próxima vez en Manchester. Recomiendo encarecidamente este café si quieres una comida abundante.

Debo admitir todas las veces que trabajé y visité Manchester, nunca antes había estado aquí. Mi error, ya que es un café limpio y agradable, con un personal encantador y amable y una buena comida a buen precio. Tuve el rollo de pollo piri - piri. El rollo era encantador, suave y fresco: tenías la opción de elegir con o sin ensalada y elegí con. El rollo se hizo fresco, no preparado previamente, y el pollo estaba muy picante, lo que personalmente me gusta, pero si no te gusta el picante, entonces no es para ti. Mi esposa tenía una tostada de queso que de nuevo disfrutaba mucho. Sin duda volveremos.

Nos metimos aquí para desayunar y encontramos otros lugares en los alrededores demasiado llenos para acomodarnos. Lamentablemente, fue una decepción. La comida es, obviamente, de un estándar bajo y económico: las salchichas en mi gran desayuno más que comestible. Nada fue un placer comer. Lo único positivo de este lugar es la variedad de imágenes extravagantes de conocidos personajes de Coronation Street que adornan las paredes y los menús.

Working away from home for a week we had struggled to find a decent café to get a good inexpensive meal.

Extremely poor quality food. Cheap, tasteless, greasy, all made with zero effort or care. Avoid this health hazard.

I eat here whenever I am in Manchester. I like both the cooked breakfasts and lunch menu. It is usually busy, so you're expected to eat up and leave, as the table is needed for people waiting.

Vino a desayunar el domingo 25 y fue horrible. Pedimos un desayuno vegetariano y un desayuno normal. Pedí cambiar mi huevo de un huevo frito a un huevo revuelto y me dieron una mirada sucia como si fuera demasiado problema. Me dieron té con leche cuando lo tengo negro y luego tuve otra mirada sucia cuando pedí que se cambiara. La comida que teníamos no estaba muy caliente: en el desayuno vegetariano, el único platillo caliente era el hash browns. En el desayuno normal, el único elemento caliente era la salchicha. También en el menú indicaba que debería haber habido pudin negro que todos en sus desayunos no tenían en mis maridos. Realmente infeliz con esto y no volveré otra vez.

Welcoming staff. Mince and onion pie superb. Eat in or takeaway. Large print menu. Accessible toilets very near to in Arndale centre. No more than 100 yards.

Called in for lunch, service was fast and efficient and plenty of choice. Ordered a chicken curry with 1/2 rice and half chips, came quickly and it was a large portion and tasty enough. Price was very reasonable and overall an enjoyable meal.

As I didn’t really no Manchester really as I was only visiting over nite we went to rowntrees cafe for breakfast was in two minds off going in 4 breakfast but the breakfast was really really nice definitely go again it cost full English bacon roll n tea n a can off coke £10.45

Aunque no había prisa, y muchas mesas vacías, tuvimos que pedir que la mesa se limpian, sólo para tener un pedazo de tela sucia que estaba en la mesa junto a la nuestra. Por suerte teníamos nuestra propia desinfectantes para limpiar después. Luego tuvimos que esperar un largo tiempo para conseguir un plato de ensalada fría (anunciado en la entrada por £2. 99 y terminó costando £4. 50) y patatas al horno. La calidad de la comida estaba por debajo de la media, la ensalada de aspecto y sabor como fue preparado ayer, no en todos, el fresco patatas al horno era el peor que he tenido en mucho tiempo.

I had 3-4 trips to this shopping centre so everytime I had to wait while others shopped, I would try out a new coffee place. This was decent without being spectacular. Worth a visit.

Foods ok at best depending what you get, and It's always quick so that's a plus I suppose. Would have given three stars but it's not clean (food on floor and stained ceiling from some sort of leakage) therefore marking down to two.

After walking out of the CAFE Metro across the road I came into the Rowntree's Cafe (takeaway or eat in cafe) seeking a Full English Breakfast which would be better value than across the road, it's certainly what I got. (at £8.50 across the road as you have to pay extra for the the two rounds of toast and for the tea) in comparison you get the two rounds of buttered thick toast and a mug of tea included here for the £5.95 so overall it was excellent value).

Came to this place as my parents said that it is convenient and affordable.

Love this place. Cheap and cheerful. The kids had yummy milkshakes ams we all had breakfast butties for just over £20. Bargain.

Fab cafe. Had brunch in the cafe whilst in Manchester. Had to wait a little bit for a table because it was so busy but the waitress kept us informed. We had excellent cooked breakfasts and tea. Quirky atmosphere but good food at reasonable prices.

I used to spend a lot of time here in the early 90s!! I guess it's moved from where it was, but I got strangely excited when I saw it still existed. Is it the same people who have it now? It was a great place, with great food.Next time I am in the MCR, I shall be sure to go here.I put I was here in April 2016... but it was way back in the 90s and that wasn't an option.

i always come here when i am visiting manchester the food is very good and the prices are very reasonable staff are brilliant and the speed and service are very quick i recommend the breakfasts £5.50p for a full english and tea/coffee

Been to this cafe 3 times now over the space of a year. Had chicken and ham pie, chips peas and gravy every time I've been( homemade chips - on point!). Partner had jacket potato with 2 fillings, no scrimping on filling in this place! Friendly staff, quick service, all homemade stuff, value for money, big portions!

I had breakfast in this cafe during a stay in Manchester. The service was very quick and my meal was delivered almost straight away. The very quick service has been noticed in other reviews. My full breakfast was excellent and a full breakfast with tea is a bargain for around five pounds.

I have been to Rowntrees a few times over the last few weeks for lunch and have been really impressed by the friendly, fast service. The Arndale Centre is often packed at lunchtimes, especially in the run up to the Christmas period and Rowntrees was super busy - the staff made a real effort to identify tables that were coming free for people who were waiting and to get you seated as quickly as possible. Once seated I ordered a jacket potato with a cup of tea and the service was super fast which was great when you're at work and you only have a limited amount of time for lunch. It was also really quick to pay up at the end. All in all I was really impressed at the level of service and efficiency in a busy City Centre cafe and would most definitely come back here again.

Conveniently situated in the arndale shopping centre.Freashly cooked big breakfast with drink included at a very affordable price.Great and efficient service and was also very clean.Only complaint is the tea was too weak but i wasnt expecting much for that price anyway.

Just inside the Arndale Centre. Proper honest-to-goodness greasy spoon café, and the only type of place like this that seemed to be operating on a Sunday lunchtime. Decorated with very colourful pictures of Corrie stars past and present. Egg, sausage and bacon bap and a cuppa £5.65.

This is good, cheap food in basic cafe surroundings. Service is good and no waiting and the staff are very friendly with no heirs or graces.

I LOVE this place!I've lost count of the amount of times I've been in here, usually for the breakfast.It's a typical greasy spoon cafe without the grease or sticky tables. Lisa and her team are marvellous. They're always friendly, attentive and service is quick without making you feel hurried. My recommendation... This cafe is clean, has a nice layout, simple decor 'coronation street' style adorns the walls and is cheap. 2 coffees, 1 cappuccino, a toasted tea cake and and all-day-breakfast for £10. Staff were friendly and attentive, even though there were only 3 tables empty. The cafe seats approximately 50-60, with a mixed range of clientele. The all-day-breakfast was good. Although the mushrooms were boiled not fried. Healthy vs taste. Basically a nice little place to go for a break

Arrived at the restaurant to be told to sit and await a waitress. After waiting 10 minutes in the drab decor my order was taken.BBQ Chicken Sandwich and a Chocolate Milkshake, once again I sat there with the quiet music and loud surroundings awaiting my food. My food arrives, before my drink! Without mayo and complete with shredded lettuce, a few pieces obviously mixed in when making previous sandwiches.I am then presented with a large bottle of mayonnaise and asked to help myself. This was because they had forgotten to put it on initially.As I tucked into the last few bites of my sandwich a chocolate milkshake arrived watery and not made using ice cream as advertised. Granted this was cheap coming in at £4.50 but the service and overall experience wasn't fantastic and wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Does anybody remember the old rowntrees cafe ? Homemade meat pie , fresh fish and chips and. Curry sauce and freash omelette to die for , the good old days with all the old staff that us up for a laugh and made me smile loved it

Hubby and I visit this cafe from time to time. We had fish, chips and mushy peas. The waitress asked if we wanted our fish crispy or lightly battered. We wanted it lightly battered but it was in fact crispy and a little chewy. Very clean cafe and pleasant staff.

We went for our regular full breakfast which is normally an exceptional meal for what you pay and then end up not being able to eat anything for the rest of the day. However, sadly after today's horror we won't be returning.The toast we received was the end slices of a loaf so two of our four slices were diminutive and not full slices and then the fried eggs, on both plates were dropped one on top of the other onto the bacon with the yolk splitting all over the bacon. There was no yolk left for the toast, what little we had, to soak up and no yolk to dip the sausage in. The food was literally thrown onto the plate. Bye bye Rowntrees which is sad after all these years. Not helped by the waitress being sullen and moody and talking about customers in front of other customers.

Hearty, cheap food and lovely staff. If you need more than that, go elsewhere. But I won't be coming with you.

Based at the entrance of the Arndale centre first thing you notice is its cold, the cafe is opened plan near the main entrance. Service, had to grab a member of staff to take my order.Order taken and the food did arrive quickly but was cold ( cheese on toast , eggs on toast ) basic food which is freshly cooked ? Why cold! ..........revisit, don't think so basic food at town prices.

Been going here for about 18 years. Remember when it was in the old arndale and I used to skip school and have dinner here the food has always been the best ever. The cottage pie has never changed all ways the same. Beautiful

What more could you ask for when you want a simple breakfast buttie?This place does good food and there's a very friendly waitress service.They accept cards and Apple Pay.It's part of the Manchester Arndale so convenient but obviously, in the City centre there's no parking other than the public pay and displays.Menu has something for everyone with breakfasts and lunches, hot dinners and even afternoon tea.It's always busy too which speaks volumes. We hit a table wry easily though.The theme (which I think is Coronation St.) Didn't appeal to me personally otherwise this would be an excellent rating.

The cafe accepts apple pay and cards.It is waitress service and the waitress we had was great! It is attached to Manchester Arndale and is a cafe that has its regular customers who staff know.We found a table ok but the it did busy up quickly. My beans on toast cost me £2.95.

Lovely tasty hot food, my first visit, my daughter and mum visit regularly, lovely sandwiches and chilli. Nice polite staff nothing too much for them. Enjoyable visit.

Not to be too nostalgic, but i remember the old cafe in the manchester arndale, before the bomb. It was great to see that the it is still owned by the same people who had it then, still have it today. The mince pie, chips, gravy and veg, are still as i remember them... Every time we return to Manchester we always return to Rowntrees in the Arndale Centre. The staff and food are always very good and the food is presented well. We have been using them now for six years and we hope to continue for many more.

Up arriving in Manchester Piccadilly we were hungry, and we was searching for a place to eat when we asked a road sweeper where a nice friendly cheap place is that we could eat. He pointed us in the direction of rowntrees. omg im so glad we asked him. it was amazing the place is clean friendly and excellent value for money the food is all home made. My husband had the full English even the black puddings was amazing. the lasagne was served with home made chips and a beautiful side salad. to much for me ( hubby finished it ) omg and the fresh coffee was to die for. dont take my word for it try it for yourself you will not be dissapointed. A++++ RATING

Good food, served by very nice staff and fairly quickly.Even the guy who cleared our plates was very pleasant to talk to.I had the mince meat and onion home made pie. It came with really nice vegetables as well as brilliant chips and gravy. My wife had the Vegetarian breakfast and cleared her plate.Highly recommended.

I went here with my sister for a birthday breakfast and was satisfied from moment set in to when I was leavingThe lady serving was very smiley and made you feel at home! Took our order then told us to take a seat. The food was brought together which is a bonus even though we had different meals. I had the BLT and it was bursting full! They definitely didn't scrimp and I was grateful! This meal kept me going for the day and was reasonable priced! Will definitely be returning!

Everytime I head into the city centre, I always struggle finding somewhere to eat thats reasonable on price an doesn't over do it, somewhere that just keeps it simple for simplicity is everything. I always end up in Rowntrees cause they just have it right, no expensive, very simple but great food, extremely friendly & helpful staff and great portions of food also. You really can't go wrong with Rowntrees, especially love the motto of the business "Feeding Hungry Mancunians" as a Mancunian this just makes this place personally special for me.

We came here twice during our visit to Manchester to see family. They come here often and it was delicious. It was busy but they do a great job of getting you in and out. Our large party tried numerous things on the menu, all of which were great!

Came here after a night of drinking in hope to find a full English breakfast and good cup of tea. This place was recommended by a security guard in one of the clothes shops on the high street and it was brill. 2 full breakfasts and 2 cups of tea for £12.00 was brill. Will happily return when next in the area.

This is the motto of the Rowntrees Cafe in the Arndale off High Street. Dined at lunch, food very good with tea in a mug. Good value for a varied menu with four specials per day. Liver and onions was my choice with home made chips. Will definitely return when next in City centre

Visited for breakfast.Seated quickly, order taken quickly and food arrived quickly - brilliant. Food cooked in front of you at the front of the cafe, a nice touch.The ladies who serve here are just lovely and really down to earth. I noticed they knew a few of the customers names, obviously regulars. A nice touch.Food was lovely and very reasonably priced.Would definitely visit again.

Hadde frokost her og den var veldig god. Hadde omelett som smakte godt og var bra tilberedt. Kaffen kunne vært bedre. Betjeningen var veldig hyggelige. Interiøret er kult og minner om en amerikansk diner. Stedet passer fint for frokost og jeg ville gått hit igjen.

We have been using this cafe now for a number of years on our visits to Manchester and never been disappointed. It has changed hands but it still retains it's name. Nothing has changed though with the food it is still great value. The interior has had a makeover and looks good in orange. Over the years they have always maintained that they do the best chips in Manchester and I can vouch for their claim. Good food, good staff and good surroundings make Rowntrees well worth a visit and you can take in the shopping as it's is in the Arndale Centre.
