This cafe is a little gem if you are ever in the vicinity of Devonport. Located inside the stunning Devonport Library within St Aubyn Church, it's difficult to know its there as there is not good signage. This maybe goes with the fact the building is a Church or that it's run by a local charity. However, when you find it you will be pleased. The coffee is very good with a varied yet simple menu - with freshly made and very yummy cakes and biscuits baked on the premises. It has a very 'communal' feel inside with large sharing tables and the staff are all local people who a friendly and attentive. If you have the time, check out the glass murals in the library itself. It's a great place to relax in and there's free wifi available to boot. Also very handy for informal business meeting.

I absolutely love this place! I come every Saturday morning for rhyme time, then move into the cafè for a drink and nibble with my little boy and the other mums! Cakes are to die for always a selection to choose from. Staff are lovely especially Debs and Gale. Defo recommend this place!

You wouldn't know it was here unless someone told you. It's as if to preserve the character and integrity of the old building the Regeneration people were determined to give no obvious clue to the presence of the cafe. The photos above give a good impression. I called in mid afternoon while walking from Keyham back into town. I had a hearty soup and a piece of cake. Very pleasant. Only slight concern was the distant formality of the staff. Maybe if they were a bit more affable the cafe would draw a few more regulars. But I would not hesitate to call in if I were passing again.

Not yet in a bustling part of the rejuvenating area of Devonport. Maybe few people know it's even here or how lovely it is? Smart little modern cafe in old building. We'll set up. Looks good and there is a good selection of food. Bit quiet when we were in. Needs to do something to pull in the punters. Good selection of cakes. Bit note, this is better than your average ubiquitous boring tea and cake shop. Only gripe. What kind of misguided pretentious training would lead anyone to provide you with a cup of hot water and separate tea bag? Americans and some continentals may make tea this way but for a better cuppa, please pour the boiling water straight onto the bag or leaves. Short rant over. Get the impression the staff here may have recently changed. Determined to be helpful. I recommend this place.

You wouldn't know it was here unless someone told you. Very laid back but attractive venue incorporating the entrance to the light airy library that has been created inside the shall of the old St Aubyn church. The cafe is well equipped, has friendly staff and the selection of freshly prepared food is excellent.

Very slightly isolated across the road from the expandind residential redevelopment of Devonport. Better to walk because so far there is no easy parking. Very friendly easy going staff, good selection of fair priced food all homemade. Big coffee machine. Simple comfy furnishings. Well designed interior. Feels good.

Just opened, a light meals cafe in a reworked space turning an underused church into a library incorporating book stock from the old Devonport Guildhall building (itself regenerated into an events space). Whether it will help restoring the spirits of long glum postwar Devonport is uncertain but large-scale redevelopment of areas recently released from the dockyard by the MoD together with work, like this, on older buildings seems to be bringing the area back to life. This pleasant little cafe can only help.

I love pasties, I also love friary mill pasties. I’m a regular here and can not fault any of the staff, their customer service is always polite cheerful and overall just good. The only issue is there has been multiple times where I’ve purchased a pasty took a bite into it and there’s been nothing but a huge chunk of steak inside, I’m not talking about a little chunk I’m talking about the whole inside of the pasty is just one big ball of steak. I find it happens the most with the cocktail pasties. Not a fault of the staff but just some feedback!
