Route 74 Truckstop in South Lanarkshire

Nice venue, food is lovely and reasonable priced soup, Sunday roast are very good. Been here a few times now and definitely recommend it.

Well we visited this truck stop a few times for breakfast and evening meals, the food was out pretty quick and delicious I am an ex trucked but never visited here sadly before, I would definitely recommend the food here whether travelling by lorry or car the staff are friendly although not being Scottish myself had a bit of trouble so sorry Danielle especially, but next time I’m up that way I’ll certainly pass by for food.

Called for secure parking as high value load. Parked at 19.00.. and not seen or heard "security patrol" at all... its now midnight . But food and service is top notch.

Dishy Debbie served us with great banter and a lovely smile , probably one of the finest juggernaut breakfast I’ve ever had ! We pulled in there following a recommendation and were bowled over ! Dishy recommended the fish and chips ( fresh fish daily ) which we re definitely going to try on our way back to Manchester from Aviemore in our Motorhome Fantastic place All the best Mick & Wenda Ps it’ll be Monday or Tuesday 🙄😂

Charging London prices for hgv parking, the £8 meal voucher actually costs £9.60 and there selling alcohol from multipacks out of tesco at 3 times the price in the cafe/restaurant

Parked for the night in my truck quiet as usual. Woke up next morning for my shower which were clean and tidy as normal. Back to my truck to a flat battery. 6 hrs later still waiting to go. Breakfast was top notch...But best of all the staff here have been absolutely amazing and looked after me cos the central locking on my truck won't open due to batteries being dead. You'll be hard pushed to find a more helpful and accommodating truck stop 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Arrived around 1am to stay overnight in the car park. Online prices are quoted for overnight car parking at £10, with no pricing on site and the "24 hour shop" closed to pay for parking, then in the morning charged £25 for the night!

This ain't no ordinary Truck Stop so don't be fooled. It's an excellent place to stop for a break and eat the best,fairly priced food in the area. The food is always fresh ,the staff are really helpful and friendly. We live 5 mins away and love the coffees too.

Called in for breakfast. 40 minutes later still no breakfast. Only had 45 minutes for break, left with refund and very hungry. Not good service.

To start with ran out of fuel in pumps food was horrendous, unedibal gammon steak obv cooked cold straight fro fridge was chewing an elastic band. Well over priced being charged more than a high street restaurant. Customer service was a joke parking attendant needs to stop asking drivers to park in dangerous positions on the truck park. More general public there than truckers. Will avoid in future and drive the extra few miles to junction 17.

We stopped here on the way back down from a motorcycle trip to the cairngorm. Great breakfast, quality food, friendly staff and bonus... the loos were spotless.

Surprised at how good it was to be honest, 4 nice slices of beef with mash and boiled potatoes with accompanying veg and gravy. Really good meal for £7.95. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Will definitely stop here again when in the area. Other truck stops could learn from this one.

This is our regular pit stop when travelling from England up to Scotland. You can get go it travelling both ways. Hearty portions at very reasonable prices. Very clean as well. We would highly recommend it.

First time staying here and the food I had the best steak pie mash and veg second to the missus homemade pie good value and staff very helpful on site accommodating drivers that was parking for nite and cheerful in there duties well done

I stay at this truck stop every week but very rarely eat here but on the last two occasions I have and to put it nicely I won’t be eating here again, I don’t know what they do in that kitchen but the roast chicken was inedible dry as a bone tasted horrid a waste of money deep fried not roasted week before mixed grill swimming in fat not good, if you were anywhere else you just wouldn’t be served it

Excellent breakfast and excellent value - no comparison to the standard second rate motorway services which offer poor value and mediocre food. If you need a stop anywhere near here it is worth a detour!

Just off M/A74, good choice of tucker, great Covid precautions management, friendly folk and reasonably priced. My steak pie was succulent, generous and with perfectly cooked veg, my pal’s scampi likewise. Felt like good home cooking, in a clean and friendly environment.

Staff professional, cafe and toilets clean.I stopped for a break during the day and was impressed with the variety of things in the shop, both essentials and truckers toys.The staff in the cafe were very friendly and helpful in every way. The food was good and at a reasonable price, highly recommend.

My family are regular visitors to the truck stop as route 74 is known locally and have always loved the food. Today was such a let down. Standard of food has very much slipped, tasteless and I would guess frozen and reheated. The service front of house remains high but theres an obvious change in the kitchen. What a shame as has always been popular amongst us locals.

Where do I start? The Staff are very friendly, Helpful and polite. I stopped here for the first time three weeks ago since then many of my colleagues have stopped here on recommendation and I am back for another 45hr break.Food: The Food (not just breakfast) is first class and I mean FIRST CLASS. Reasonably priced and plenty of choice. Where else in the UK can you say that a truck stop serves proper Scottish Beefsteak Beefburgers, Steak or delicious Scottish lamb? (Btw I'm from the south of England)Facilities: The toilets and showers are the cleanest you'd find in any truck stop, if it's not then blame the guy/woman who used it before you as staff are on the ball. Route74 has a great Shop selling truck accessories and food provisions not many though as there is a supermarket across the road. Which is very handy indeed. The truck stop also offers car washing and truck washing at great prices. Truthly I cannot fault this place, they have separate yard for refrigerated trucks so everyone gets a decent nights sleep and in these unprecedented COVID-19 times they Are open with social distancing measures in place and plenty of hand sanitizer.StageTruck Driver Jay.

Son I looking for a breakfast before takling the Motorway South.Plenty of parking for cars away drom the trucks, it has a restaurand and a shop.The restaurant in large, bright and airey. The staff were friendly and helpful, we quickly ordered and tok our drinks to a table. Th place was spotless.Our food soon followed and was just what was needed, we had the 6 Wheeler Breakfast, which was amazing, well cooked and looked great. It tasted even better, plenty for even my ranenous son.The Lunch / Dinner caught my son's eye and he is insisting that we drop in on our way back to check out the Steak pie.We might just do that, great value and great food. Try a visit.

Looking for a good meal on the way to central Scotland, we tried this truck stop, it's great!!!!!!!! Handy parking for cars and great food served by lovely staff. It's so easy to get ripped off in the services. This places shows food on the move can be great quality and reasonably priced!!!!

Stopped there a few times now and will make it the only place to stop when in the area food is top quality as are the staff very pleasant and professional. It’s a lovely atmosphere to unwind and have a nice meal and watch tv to good showers and shop

Coming north into Scotland we stopped for breakfast at Route 74 Truckstop. Superb place. Great food, good price, friendly staff and very clean. An excellant Truckstop and all public welcome.

Never had a bad meal here and always leave feeling I've had a good feed. Think I've tried most things on the menu from an amazing prawn salad (only salad I've eaten feeling full at the end of it) to a lovely steak pie, there have been no complaints from any member of the family. Everything tastes fresh and there is an extremely quick service from the staff and kitchen.

We stopped for a bite to eat. We were hoping for breakfast but we were just too late for that but that wasn’t an issue as they had the brunch breakfast on the menu! It as really filling and good quality as was the jacket potato and tuna. Toilets were really clean. A great stop.

Visited with my daughter for breakfast this morning. Was disappointed after my last breakfast I had in January. It was delicious. Today's wasn't do good. Haggis and black pudding was cloying and tasteless. Bacon was fatty. Eggs were overcooked. Tomato was tasteless. The sausages were quite nice. I did like the tea and toast though. Not sure if a return visit will happen.

Two Latte’s, two Bacon Rolls £9.40. Good buttie & coffee at proper prices. Better than most so called service areas.

Had a Juggernaut breakfast. 3 link, 3 bacon, 2 potato sones, 2 eggs, haggis, black pudding, tomato, beans. Was delicious but couldn't finish it.

I was taken to this truck stop restaurant this morning and I loved the food. It was delicious. The tea was definitely worth a visit on its own. The service was very good. Waitress was friendly and polite. The place was very clean and bright. Will definitely have a return visit. Look forward to trying out their carvery on a Sunday .

Clean, modern, friendly. On SNAP. Food is great, quiet for overnight parking too. Proper Truckstop. Friendly staff, watched me into my space, large Tesco’s store opposite too.

Two weeks on the trot arrived at different times and only turkey left ..so disappointed ....surley roast beef, gammon ,and turkey should be available till end of service time !!

popped in recently for lunch but had to wait 10 minutes as they were still on the breakfast menu until 12 midday !! okay no problem sat and read the paper for ten minutes .finally up to order steak pie ,chips and beans .no chips as they are locked in the fridge and cant get it open ! really ?? reluctantly ask for steak pie mash and beans but 10 mins later get steak pie mash and veg .the pastry that obviously gets microwaved and added at the end was tasteless and cold .it was noticeable that the diner was almost empty ,certainly not maintained the higher standards of when it opened .the place seemed to be run by kids ,no one about to speak to and no one asked if the meal was ok .another thing that bugs me is that certain meals are priced differently for the truckers than for general public ? how can this be fair ,legal ??

Anything i have tried has been good, great value simple food, not a fancy food place but great value, I need to try their steak night but breakfasts are fantastic

I live locally and often drop in for coffee, roll and bacon and a cake. Always made to feel welcome with very pleasant waitresses and nice cheerful and clean surroundings. Have never heard anyone who has visited the Truckstop voicing any complaints apart from portions being very large. I would never hesitate to encourage anyone whether alone or with family and friends to pay a visit here and enjoy a lovely meal. Any 'truckers' I have spoken to while there have all been very happy to stop here and also to recommend it to there fellow drivers. They all agree the all facilities are of a high standard.

I have stopped here for breakfast a couple of times, each time I have ordered the 4 Wheeler breakfast and each time I’ve had a completely different meal put in front of me. There seams to be no consistency in the kitchen. Today I was told by the waitress our toast would be right out, we had both finished our meal and had to go up to ask for our toast! Didn’t enjoy it as much as we had already finished the rest of the meal but we had payed for it.

Stopped before and after the Moonwalk. Great value for money. Didn't manage a lit but carvery smelt amazing. Friendly staff. Will make this stop again if travelling north. Everywhere clean which always a bonus. Do like truckers prioritised (understand they only get so long for a break)! Not that we had to wait that long.

As a trucker, I have upto now driven straight past this place purely because it hasn't fitted in with my daily breaks, but having stopped there today, I shall plan my breaks to be more compatable with Lesmahagow from now on. Modern, spotlessly clean, great choice on the menu, the lasagne was beautiful, and a great portion with the chips, coleslaw and salad, and the staff were delightful ... gets top marks from me, and you'll be seeing a lot more of me

Absolutely go to this gem just off the M74 motorway!!! My partner and I called into Route 74 on our way up to the highlands and we were so impressed we called on our way back! The staff were lovely, friendly and fun! Food was amazing and believe me I am fussy when it comes to good food. The building was immaculate and rest rooms very clean. There were different clientele from mums n kids, to holiday couples and the hardworking truck drivers

Called in both northbound on the Sunday (great carvery on the go) and also on my southbound trip for just a mug of tea. Staff are friendly and comfortable surroundings. Toilets are very clean. Just off the M74 so easily accessible without paying motorway service prices and fuel for cars opposite at Tesco at a good price.

Good home cooked food, spotlessly clean and great value. It doesn't look much when you pull in but the restauaunt is lovely. There is loads of parking for Trucks or RVs. Great Spot

A real find we travel to Newcastle often and always end up in a nasty road side cafe so when we stumbled on route 74 truck stop we thought let's have a go! What a find for a cooked breakfast it was very good value and freshly cooked ... be brave and give it a try! Also very clean toilets and not so busy!

Took my 5 year old grandson tonight. We had the steak deal which was fabulous and grandson had the chicken nuggets children menu. Food was great, very relaxed atmosphere and great value for money.

Have stopped in here on five occasions in recent months.Although billed for truck drivers it is suitable for everyone including families.Great breakfast in the morning and fab steak pie at night. Great prices too.Open 24 hours

Thought this was truckers only......how wrong could I beLots of choices , lots of food on the plate, prices most acceptable, staff friendly and tidily dressed. Clean and well maintainedTerrific

Stopped here again last night and again I was impressed. The staff were all friendly with natural smiles all around. The parking was interesting as I arrived at 19.00hrs but they squeezed me in. Next time I will ring in to book a space, as there was some conned off for those smart enough to book. Snap is taken and the fuel was easily accessible. The food was good and the restaurant was clean and tidy. My only niggle here and I have mentioned it personally to the site on each of my previous visits is the lack of a cold water tap on any of the sinks, they are all lovely hot water, but I don't enjoy cleaning my teeth in hot water which is not drinking water and therefore may carry anything! There is cold taps in the shower rooms but with the amount of truckers parked up it's not always possible to get into them without a long wait. So I purchased a bottle of water from the shop and used that. Ok that's my niggle off my chest!On my next trek north I will do my best to ensure I can get here for the night. Big thanks to the staff which really mates the visit great.

Lovely clean place with nice showers and good size cafe / restaurant with a large selection of well cooked food parking is on concrete so good for keeping cab clean I always try to stop here if I'm coming to Scotland even if I am in the car as they cater for everyone.

Stopped here for my 45 rest, ended up staying overnight, good clean toilets (decent sized cubicles for larger drivers) clean and tidy restaurant, quick and polite service, very nice and good value for money, I will be back here next time I'm up here.

Have eaten in here a number of times recently. Not just a truckstop.....much more like a restaurant. The Friday and Saturday night steak nights with its offers for two people are brilliant and the food top class

This is a truly excellent place to go for a meal - not the usual truckstop food but higher class than normal. I will go here again as the prices are realistic as is the food - the service was excellent!

We visited this brill stop for a quick meal with the kids and were pleasantly surprised. It was more than a quick bite. It was an exceptional meal and the service was not only friendly but efficient and helpful.We will certainly be back for more .Do not be put off by the lorises just come in and enjoy .

I hadn't been in to Route74 before but after a long day driving up and down the roads I was needing a overnight parking place n Route74 was recommended to me by a fellow work mate. I'm glad I stopped here, great friendly staff, all round clean establishment (showers, wagon park, shop etc) and the food (breakfast) was great, well presented and not ridiculously priced like some places.I will be back at some point!!

As a long serving trucker of 30+ years I've seen the good and the bad side of the coin where truck stops are concerned I've paid through the nose to stop in urine smelling service stations car parks I've had to use dirty filthy showers. Eaten in unhygienic restaurants and dealt with obnoxious rude staff.......Route 74 truckstop is none of the above the place is spotlessly clean the food is amazing the staff are friendly and helpful the whole place is 10 notches above everyone else the only downside is the car park is not the biggest in the world and because route 74 if so popular with Truckers you need to get there early if you need to stop for the night will definitely be using again when I'm passing through

Quick, very tasty meals at extremely reasonable prices. We come here often as it is so handy to the motorway. The choice of dishes is great too, we haven't managed to try everything yet. A favourite place for a quick meal or snack.

I came in with my 6year old and was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is lovely and clean, it's cheap and cheerful and the staff were lovely. Would definitely recommend if you're on the road up north and need a wee stop for dinner!

Having just had my car washed in the tended facilities here(fantastic job by the way!), I thought I'd just park up and have some lunch. I'm so glad I did as it was the nicest visit to a truck stop I've ever had. It's cleanliness is apparent from the moment you walk through the door and continues throughout. There is an excellent choice of food for every time of the day too! My Order of a cheese, bacon & Onion toastie, slice of cake and a tea was taken by a polite but enthusiastic young lady, I was given a large mug of tea and told to go and sit down and they'd bring the food out to me. There isn't really much you can do with a toastie to make it "outstanding", but this sandwich was as good as it possibly could have been. Thinly sliced red onion, well done bacon and proper cheddar cheese all hot and melty in well toasted bread, it was pretty damn tasty! The slice of cake was huge and I struggled to finish it...but I managed All of the above set me back approx £7. Fantastic value! Given the standard of this place, I would think nothing of bringing customers here for a bit to eat and to talk business

I started just stopping occasionaly but now i try to stop as often as i can.As the nightshift worker "the debstar" is an absolute pleasure everytime im in the shop. For being a nightshift worker shes always happy and more than willing to help me out supposing its heating up my ready meal or sorting me a coffee Nothing is ever to much trouble for the girl.ive stopped at many truckstops in Scotland,and England and this is turning out to be my favourite.The restaurant is a bit over priced the showers are clean and tidy.The big security guy sandy is very helpful and makes sure ive a decent sized space to park in As other places ive parked in can be rather tight.The only thing id suggest is itd would be nice to be able to get a breakfast roll during the night as we dont all have 9_5 jobs.

Food is always fine, big portions and good prices. Place is also spotless. Good for a meal when out shopping, or if you can't be bothered cooking. Wouldn't go for a special occasion though.

Been passing for ages&finaly made it out of Glasgow in good time&made it to route74,,,wow the standard has been set all other rip off places take note EASY access ,secure parking,fuel facilities,truckwash,clean hot shower, reasonably priced truckers shop,tesco 100 Mtrs across the road if needed,best of all the banging food..big round of applause for the route 74 staff....PS 2all the bad reviewers it's a BLOODY TRUCKSTOP...

Surprisingly good. Lots of seats and clean and modern.Plenty of car and lorry parking. Conveniently located just off the m74.Had bacon rolls and coffee. Decent mugs of coffee and bacon rolls cooked to order. Prices ok, but maybe a bit pricey for what it is.Tried to use the free wifi, but no joy.Lots of choice to eat and many chips and beans options.

Have had breakfast and dinner in this place. This is primarily a rest area for truck drivers but wait the place is clean the food is out of this world. Great staff, great food, a real nice place.

Let me first clarify the "very good" tag. It's a truck stop, they don't have Michelin stars. The food is decent for the money and the service is fast. Well worth a stop if travelling the M74 and needing a feed. They happily accept cars and pedestrians! It's walking distance from our house. They have WiFi

This is an excellent value for money stop. If you are looking for 5 star gourmet cooking, then not here. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. My only bug bear, were the disabled loos. I had no problem that they were kept locked, but that the Kelly was in the shop at the other end. The staff were excellent in getting the key for me. But I felt the owners were missing g a trick. If the key was kept in the cafe. I'm sure they co uhh let make more sales. All it needs, on return of the key is a general enquiry from the staff about a tea or coffee or something to eat. Sales gone missing....

After our walk round the Kerse we came here for lunch. 10 of us and we hadn't booked, that was fine. Some of us had soup ar sandwiches, some had the full Wheelers breakfast (it was just before noon). The food was good. The atmosphere more like a motorway service station, the prices were very reasonable. This is NOT a greasy spoon.

This is a pleasant place to stop, just off the M74. However it needs to improve its food and ensure that things like scones are fresh.

Very nice decor inside, spotlessly clean. Efficient, friendly staff. We went up for the Sunday carvery after recommendations from neighbours. Compared to a Toby carvery or similar it's not great value. We went in about 1.15pm and the veg was all getting to the mushy stage. Maybe if you went in as the carvery starts it would be nicer. OK meal, another time I'd have something from their regular menu that's cooked to order. Good choice of drinks, the milkshakes look fab (cream and sprinkles on top!).

Good food at reasonable prices and incredibly accommodating for my food intolerance peculiarities! They actually have a folder highlighting all their ingredients and were more than happy to make me my own red wine free gravy. The staff also dealt with my clumsy slushie-spilling son with good humour and kindness. I thoroughly recommend.

I quite often go to route 74 for lunch. The food s so reasonably priced, the portions are a good size and the service is fast. I only have 45 minutes for lunch and I have never ran out f time. The staff are so polite, happy and go out of their way to please.There is ample parking. It's also straight on and off the motorway.

Came here with the family..been here a few times when visiting the mother in law and its very central as to where she stays...food is always good, large portions and hot...you have to go up and order yourself and pay then...and then food is brought to the table. Unfortunately on this occasion we couldnt enjoy our meal at all the place was absolutely swarming with flies/blue bottles...absolutely disgusting...landing on our food, table and our drinks...one of the waitresses had the cheek to say its terrible...they really need to address this as its a health hazzard...noticed a count of 16 on the wall menu when we were up ordering our food...should have left then...very off putting.

I like to come here when my cupboards are empty. Good food and good portions at a very reasonable price. Very much a family eatary as it can be a bit noisy.

I live locally and prior to this always enjoyed my visits. I happened to be at the pay point asking for something when I looked through the window to the kitchen and saw a member of staff dipping their finger in a ramekin of white sauce, saying something like "mm thats nice/good - I was lip reading, and putting the ramekin on a shelf. On closer inspection the shelf was actually the "pass" and the ramekin was on my plate of wedges and contained my garlic mayonnaise I of course complained right away and the girl - I wont name her" denied doing it. I took my complaint to the complex manager and the member of staff who took my complaint advised us that the guilty member of staff had changed their story and that there was something on top of the sauce and they were not sure what it was. They then used their finger to remove said item. No reason was given as to why the offending item was then eaten and why did the member of staff have 2 story's if in fact what she was doing was legitimate. In addition, if there is a foreign object in a sauce would you not either replace the sauce or remove the object with a spoon. I was given an apology and a refund. It was also said when I initially made the complaint that I could still have the macaroni? I mean are you kidding me, having seen first hand the above. I can stand poor service and on occasion I have went back to a retailer when service has been poor but the subsequent complaint was dealt with efficiently. But this is on a whole new level of poor and I hesitate to think where the member of staff's hands have been before they dipped my sauce. Just a manky clarty incident. I will not eat here again. Please bear in mind my hunger at this point. I had not had a meal for over 27 hours and was ravenous when I placed my order. Thats how bad this incident made me feel.

We went here on Saturday night, absolutely spotless , modern place , great choice in food , food came out piping hot and portions were great , great value for money.Cant wait to go back, highly recommended. A***

Yes, clean facilities and friendly staff...but...as a tamper (hgv) it is annoying when it clearly states on entrance to hgv park, that fridges should use park no.2? As the majority of fridge drivers don't have the common courtesy of using it, preferring to inflict the noise on people trying to sleep instead.Why don't staff at Route 74 enforce this written policy?

Not really impressed. £15 to park up. £23.50 with a meal and shower voucher. Food adequate. Frozen chips frozen veg. Could do better. Not value for money. However, it's clean. Can't say any better than that. Maybe they should let truck drivers go to the front of the queue of non tachograph dependant customers. Just saying.

Came here with friends as it was open late and local. Was extremely impressed. Great choice of food, very reasonable prices, easy to get to from M74. It's a new building and it's very modern, spacious and clean. It's not fine dining but it's great, everyday food in a friendly environment. The staff were very friendly and efficient also. And for a truck stop/diner they even had a selection of decaff coffees, was very impressed with this. They have WiFi also. Worth a visit..

For a motorway service area or a local restaurant this is great value. Warm welcome and friendly service, good range of food at a realistic price. Well worth a visit

Went there with a bit of trepidation expecting the usual greasy spoon. Pleasantly surprised. Very clean and nicely decorated. Good food and prices. If you're ever passing on the m74 it's well worth stopping off for a bite to eat rather than the usual motorway services. Can't comment on ladies toilets but the gents was very clean. Nice little shop as well. Would definitely recommend.

Crap service , fish and chips is £9 even dearer than Harry ramsdens. Asked for breakfast and they said "not at this time" then offered me a different breakfast????My god I will never be back here

Fantastic service and with a smile for being early in the morning . Breakfast was great with very tasty sausage , bacon and perfectly cooked egg and fresh toast with real butter and a mug of tea great start to the day.

Open to the public.Basic food, served fast and friendly.Good breakfast and reasonably priced.Clean surroundings. Nothing fancy but you are aware of that,after all it is a truckstop.

We stopped here for lunch, both had steak pie and chips + vegs and coffee.Chips and coffee were good, vegs tired and much overcooked. But the steak pie was quite unpleasant. It was much too salty and tasted of MSG. I was very hungry and just about finished mine but my companion left half of hers.We will find another place to eat next time we travel south on the M74 from Glasgow.

I have enjoyed breakfast here a few times. Very enjoyable and extremely quick service. The surroundings are also very pleasant. Will be back.

Heard a lot of conflicting reviews about the Truckstop so decided to try it out for myself. Really fast service and the girls were really nice,prices were very reasonable, place was clean and bright, but the food offer let them down. Ordered a roll and sausage and my friend had fish and chips which was ok but most definately not fresh, fresh frozen maybe. I could not finish my roll as the middle of the sausage was an umcompromising shade of pink. It is what it is, a truckstop but they need to up their game if they want to serve the general public also.

Poor service over cooked food although very cheapI suffer from allergies and the could not tell me if they had gluten free products

Been here a few times for dinner when we cant be bothered cooking or getting a carryout, the food is good and reasonably priced! Went with a table of 6 and it was just over £50! Really clean and well presented inside and the staff are really helpful and their if you need them. Would recommend if you are passing by or looking for somewhere to go and is licsted right off the m74 north bound
