This place is brilliant the food is fantastic lovely friendly staff nice clean place, love the atmosphere with all the old band tour posters on the walls, really can't fault it at all well worth a visit even if you are not a biker.

They could do with a live webcam of the car park that would be a good idea. Food was ok , i purchased oxford waterproof overtrousers from the store which is great

Typical biker themed cafe - has a biker accessories store out the back. Eclectic menu from pie, mash and liquor through to all day breakfast. weds lunchtime - liver and bacon run out boo, ham (for ham egg chips) run out too boo. So a couple of pie, man and liquor and a sausage and chips. No other complaints. Staff great, good seating, interesting people to talk with (like bloke that had built his own electric motorbike) and reasonable prices too. We normally head on to Hastings for fish and chips. We will be back sometime.

Went mid morning on motorbike really nice place only had mug of tea to warm me up but planning to go Sunday with hubby on bikes to have big breakfast. Plenty of places to park for the bikes

Popped in for breakfast 1st day and was made very welcome by a chripy lady, ordered food that was easy and when it arrived was just perfect, options are huge. Atmosphere is fantastic been 3 days on the trot despite being on holiday will recomend to anyone I would find it hard to complain. Top score 10.10

We met friends here for a catch up, 11 of us in all, I have to say it was really busy on this visit, when we pulled into the car park soo many bikes, but the atmosphere was buzzing, most of us had breakfast as it was busy there was a wait but that was fine food was well cooked and hot,staff were very friendly and efficient and contrary to some people's opinion the bikers were great, fun, friendly and very polite, and there were some great bikes there, keep it up 1066 we will be back.

This is old school cafe dining, so don’t expect anything fancy. Coffee is instant etc, but who cares? The staff are lovely & it’s quite an iconic place in a way, as all the bikers go here - creates a great atmosphere. I always drop in when getting the car cleaned next door.

Been here before, food was ok. Went today, ordered two breakfasts, with toast, egg well done. Got one full English, certainly not £8s worth, with bread n margarine, not toast. Veggie one with egg well done with toast, got a wet sloppy load of mushrooms, one nasty cheap veggie sausage and a snotty undercooked egg, no toast, bread and marge, yuk. Lady at the next table said hers was terrible too. Another customer moaning about having to wait for his toast. Sure it was busy but it wasn't a difficult order? £16 for two very underwhelming breakfasts. Won't be coming in again.

I visited with a group of friends on motorcycles and had a lovely lunch and browse around the shop. My omelette and chips were delicious (and I'm fussy about omelettes!) and the coffee hi t the spot nicely. I love the interesting bike-centric decor and comfy seating. Will definately visit again soon.

chose here as was central to all who we were meeting, there were 8 of us in all, and there was a table for 8 just inside the door, food was good and service (counter) was good, we stayed for almost 2 hours, and most had breakfast, and we had several cups of coffee, was clean, only small complaint i had was (and we were near the door) it wasn't very warm, if we use it again to meet up, which we probably will, i think we might get extra chairs and sit in the corner,

Id been driving all day and saw the cafe so decided to stop and get a bite to eat. the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to cook me exactly what i wanted, the portion size was good and the cafe was nice and clean. overall a nice experience. :)

Coffee stop on a coach trip. Interesting place which is frequented by a lot of bikers. The food looked very good, especially breakfast, and was excellent value. Also the cakes and other items to eat. Just had coffee, no frills, but only £1.55, about a £1 than I would often pay. No frills layout, but café has an excellent reputation. Saw many mature bikers whilst I was there.

Visit here a lot when I am out and about. Breakfast is a meal and a half, it sets me up for the day. I can stop here and know I am going to get good decent food at a good price. The staff are friendly and the cafe is clean. It has a great atmosphere too. They have bike and car nights which have been great fun attending. Made new friends and have really taken to the cafe. It's like having a whole new family!

Sometimes these wannabe Ace Cafe type places let the decor, image etc take precedence over the food.Thankfully that’s not the case here, good value, nice food. Better quality sausage and bacon than is usual in cafes and all served piping hot with a reasonable coffee and some fresh bread and butter.Much better than I expected, will definitely call in again next time I’m passing.

HelloI have been using the 1066 cafe with other biker friends of mine for quite sometime and have never been able to fault it until today. Please accept this in the spirit in which it is intended. I stopped by this morning with my wife today and had an experience that if it wasn’t a cafe that I know and like would not return to again.Firstly the service at the counter was incredibly slow due to the staff having to deal with the fresh orange juice machine. I was the second one in the queue and a large queue built up behind me while this was being dealt with. Secondly the coffee from the machine was week and undrinkable. The girl serving did make us another which was equally bad and the money for it was returned. She was very helpful and pleasant. Thirdly and the worst but most easily fixed problem was that my wife ordered poached eggs on toast and the eggs were not drained therefore leaving the toast swimming in the water that the eggs were boiled in making it inedible. I have always enjoyed my many trips to the 1066 cafe but as you may be able to tell today’s visit was less than perfect.I have never sent a review like this before but the 1066 has always been one of my favourite places and I would hate it to change for the worse. I would just like to add that your staff are excellent, friendly, pleasant and helpful.Kind regards PaulSent from my iPad

Had heard good things about this place, so stopped by for lunch. Ordered a simple meal... ham eggs chips. It was dreadful... fried eggs hard and dry, chips refried but cold. Ham kind of ok. Can see that the place could have a good vibe, but would not go back until they get someone in the kitchen that can cook

Worth going just for the name alone, and kudos to whoever thought of it. It's a smart and decent place and worth a visit.

Very popular with motorcyclists, but welcoming to all. Place is clean, staff are friendly & helpful, & the food is good & reasonably priced. Indoor & outdoor seating available, out front or in the garden. My only gripe is they close after lunch mid-afternoon.

Had heard good things about 1066 so stopped for lunch. Chose ham egg and chips, a simple meal. It was awful... the eggs so overcooked they were inedible, chips warmed up. Only the ham was passible, but even that was a bit dry. I would avoid this place until they get a new chef

What a shame, heard good things about this place! Went for a bike ride out with a friend, we met at Billy’s on the Road, and although very tempted by the good looking breakfast menu, we decided to save ourselves for the lunch at Route 1066. Arrived at about 1300 and we both ordered the ham, fried eggs and chips. .........

Disappointing!! Eggs overcooked, dried bacon. Long wait and poor breakfast, will continue to eat at Blackbrooks.

Great biker cafe plenty of room which is good as it gets very busy loads of outside seating as well, Breakfast is very well cooked not at all greasy good sized portions and good prices. Ground coffee is a bonus as I hate instant coffee which is also available. There’s also the shop around the side that is run by the owner Steve who is very helpful with all your bike clothing and accessories if he hasn’t got it he’ll try and source it.

I had high hopes that change of ownership was going to get away from the greasy spoon mentality But alas the standard has dropped even more, premium price for budget food. I had their breakfast and found everything had been deep fried bacon,sausage and even the mushrooms. Such a shame as could be a great place if they can get away from using their customers as cash cows

Friendly staff, loads of chatty people and somewhere nice to sit outside when the sun shines. Prices are reasonable too.

Since it’s been taken over this place has gone from strength to strength. We had a delicious breakfast and great quality coffee. Staff were friendly and there’s a great bunch of customers there. Loved the new shop too.

Came here for a late breakfast with my husband. They use great quality produce, the service was outstanding. Will go back, great cafe.

I stopped for food & drinks "to-go" and grabbed the best-ever Chicken Wrap with Salad and Sweet Chilli Sauce. It was packed full of juicy spicy coasted Chicken, it was hot and very tasty. Inside the layout is US Diner style, including cool Rock N Roll memorabelia and a V-Twin Custom Motorbike too. Great service, great fun & great value for money.

Food and service were very good but there are no disabled facilities. No allocated parking near the doors, steps to get inside and no disabled loo. There was a dog water bowl at the front though otherwise the score would have been lower.

First time we had called in here. Found the cafe had a nice relaxed feel to it. Staff were cheerful and friendly. Service was quick and the breakfast was good. Shall definitely call in again.

Excellent for bacon sandwiches or croissants and very good coffee with newspapers, too. Find the larger cafe for more room and better choice.

Stopped for lunch...apart from it's location and ample parking there is nothing good about this place. Menu looked great but food was awful. The toilets were disgusting. The door was falling off of my cubicle. One of the staff was in the toilet next to me when she was finished she didn't wash her hands!!! The whole place was cold and filthy dirty. The girls that worked there clearly had no pride in their work or workplace. Miserable at best is my thoughts on the whole experience. I wouldn't normally be so negative but I'm just so disappointed in what could have been a really good experience and felt let down abysmally.... oh yeah the music was good. Popped in last week for a brunch. I had a jacket potato which was small and tasteless and my wife had a cooked breakfast which comprised tin tomatoes and also was very mediocre. We can only add that the service was passable and the place appeared quite clean. Needless to say we shall not be returning.

Had a fried breakfast. Fried slice was literally dripping with oil and hardly fried . Sausages were as cheap as you can get and hash browns barely cooked . Bacon and beans were ok to be fair all served up on a cold plate . Coffee tasted foul.

This place leaves you smelling of grease even in the depth of winter.

Had 1 of the worst burgers here was more like a toasty then a burger so hard and over cooked don’t know about anything else but stay away from the burgers

Had my car cleaned next door so thought I would pop in for a drink while I waited. The sign on the door said "Closed" there were chairs on the tables and someone cleaning the floor, I asked if it was open.... They said of course it was why had I asked? might be something to do with your sign I said...... I asked for a cup of tea with a slice of lemon but was told that they didn't have any lemon. I saw a long list of coffees offered on the counter so I said I'd have one of those instead. I'm afraid we can't do any of those, the young lady said.... "What do you have" I asked, "I can do you an ordinary coffee" she said... The coffee was dreadful but at least it was wet and warm... Also on the counter was the code for the internet connection, I tried to log on but couldn't fine the service provider..... "Oh I don't understand why that is" she said, "I'll check", after a few minutes she came back and said "you can't find it because it's not switched on.. sorry"... Very friendly chatty staff, it's just a pity they don't have anything to offer to customers.....

Stopped here Saturday on route to hadtings. Breakfast barn was good not best we've had for price, but nice enough service could do with a smile ! Looks ace from outside and plays great 50's and 60's music. Service and sausage quality let's it down.

Called in actually by mistake thought it was an American style diner, it’s nothing more than a Bikers cafe ( nothing against bikers ) some of the young staff looked really pee’d off like they didn’t want to be there , it could do with sprucing up a bit but it is what it is , me and the wife both had burgers and chips and to be fair it was alright , we also had a milk shake each which we both thought were poor almost tasteless , I most probably wouldn’t go there again.....sorry

How can you get a friend breakfast so wrong. Sent it back as black pudding not cooked. Bacon under cooked. Not cheap either! Cheap produce won't be coming back....ever!

I was in need of a decent breakfast and had passed this place a few times, so decided to give it a try, and I wasn’t disappointed, staff are nice, breakfast was a little pricey but for the size of it, it’s great value for money.

Lived in the area for more than 20 years and never been in for a meal. Wished I hadn’t now! Average food. Really grim and in desperate need of a deep clean.

Having read some of the recent reviews for this cafe I had reservations about what to expect.

Full English was uninspiring. Tea was anaemic. Waitress looked utterly despondent, bless her. Shan’t return.

Ok breakfast nothing over inspirring. Food nothing to write home about . Eggs over cooked . Best thing about visit was that parking was free.

Have been using them for years. First thing they have stopped doing baked spuds. We both had rolls and a drink. My roll was meant to be cheese with apple, spring onion and mayo. No apple or spring onion in sight and the roll was rubbery. Took it back to be told its mixed in, well I don't think so because you would be able to taste it. It was a cheese and mayo roll yuk. Told them to throw it away. Wont be going back, wasn't even offered a refund.

Honestly, I don't understand how there are any good reviews. Absolutely disgusting items masquerading as food. Stopped off while travelling and regretted that decision since. Poor quality ingredients, poorly cooked and thrown together on a plate. Both of us had different breakfast options and both felt it was disgusting. Is a mystery what those eggs were cooked in, but they shouldn't be a dirty brown colour. The little I did eat made me ill soon after anyway, so a proper waste of money.

Great location for bikers, huge carpark and regularly packed with bikes. How ever there can be quite a queue for food and drinks.

Great all day breakfasts. Burgers. The real coffee is really good and they make a decent brew. We take our car to be valeted and have a breakfast usually. The music is well 50’s and great. The menu always looks good but I always have a breakfast or a burger.

Great breakfast, quick service and excellent value for money but the place is grotty, outside there are plenty of ash trays but many fag buts on the floor, the windows are grim, I know it is on a main road but it hasn't been cleaned recently. It really let's the place down as we couldn't fault the breakfast.

Met my very low expectations.. is what it is. If you dont like nice food you probably wont care. Guess we were desperate - its kind of old school. How the UK used to me known for food (ropey). And my tea was a bit grey.

I came for breakfast at this "apparent" American Diner on a Monday morning; The restaurant was busy, but not full! We ordered a couple of breakfasts, and two sandwiches, and were appalled by around an hour long wait! We were not warned of a wait, and had we been when we ordered we would have chose to eat elsewhere. I chose to question the wait with one of the waitresses and was told that there were still around ten orders ahead of ours, and that everyone that had been served had been told about a wait - as I said, this was not the case.

Been meaning to visit for a while and finally managed it for an early morning ride today.

We needed somewhere for a quick bite for lunch whilst traveling. So pleased found and we still have independent roadside cafes like this rather than the big tiresome samey chains.

Been to this cafe a on various rideouts and always found it to be excellent quality. Food is well priced and it is welcoming to all. Great place to meet other Motorcyclists

Visited this am with my husband, had breakfast and a drink.

Had the misfortune of stopping at this disgusting establishment for breakfast! Dirty tables and the most ignorant staff that I’ve ever encountered!! Girl brought wrong order twice to table and had attitude of Vicky pollard!! The other rude staff members explanation of the girls behaviour was that she had autism?!?! Maybe working front of house is not the place for this girl as it takes manners and maybe a polite word when talking to paying customers!! Didn’t get refund and what food had come correct was rubbery and chewy! Would avoid at all costs!!

We called in for a late morning snack & enjoyed a decent mug of tea along with a bacon sandwich and a sausage sandwich. Proper diner style food, tasty & no nonsense. The menu was really comprehensive and included jacket potatoes, salads etc. If we are in the area again we will certainly call in again. Clean toilets & a warm welcome for bikers. Lots of parking too.
