Very buzzy street food restaurant, with rapid service to table. Not a romantic, quiet place, but perfect for when you want a light bite or something more substantial.

Nice place to have desi street food. They are really tasty, but the mains, the one we ordered are totally blended with no taste at all. The service is quick and good, and the team is all smiling and nice. The street food is really good but are small portion and bit pricy, but probably due to the location. It is located at the end of Oxford circus off Selfidges, behind M&S and HBL, near Marble Arch station.

Food wasn't that great, taste wasn't there and didnt fill us up had to eat elsewhere in addition. The biryani was very bland, litteraly boiled rice with some food colouring and fried onions ontop, with 2/3 small chicken pieces. The chicken curry was 70% potatoes, 30% chicken pieces where is the value for money? Was average in taste, like a uni student had made it really. The papri chaat had soo much potato, the balance was too off. The spicy wings, the biryani raita sauce and the chicken bun burgers was good. The Nepali waiter was friendly. Paid a small fortune for this all, and still hadn't filled us which was dissapointing.

Last night, between meetings, I treated myself to a delightful Indian vegetarian dinner at my favourite spot, Roti Chai. As I walked in, I was greeted by the warm smile of Ms. Simona Coliban, who led me to a cozy table. Outside, a light drizzle and chilly air made the restaurant feel like a luxury train journey through the misty mountains of Kashmir or Shimla. Craving something spicy to match the mood, I asked Ms. Simona about the Aloo, Gobi, and Mutter. Her team expertly recommended it, and the dish was perfect—warming me up from the inside out. I fell in love with the meal so much that I forgot to take pictures until I was halfway through, so the photos show my plates far from full! Wonderful, delightful Indian meal that hit the spot for us after visiting the Frameless Art exhibition. We ordered the chicken lollipops, daal, Pani puri and the chicken biryani . Daal, chicken biryani were outstanding. Pani puri.... Something different to try with an explosion of flavorful. Not too impressed by chicken lollipops which were essentially fried chicken with a tasty coriander/ chili sauce. The lollipops were not hot enough temperature wise. However, other than this small critique, service was professional, kind and friendly. Discretionary service charge already included in bill at 12.5%. Thank you to the kind, attentive hostess who noticed my friend had difficulty going down the stairs to get to the bathrooms. She immediately escorted her to the elevator hidden by a curtain.

The style, interior decor, cleanliness and atmosphere here is really good. There’s two options available - the smaller, street food style/sharing plates menu on the ground level (which is what we tried) and the regular restaurant dining room below ground level. There was a bit of a wait for the food but I personally don’t mind, as I’d rather they take their time and maintain good quality. We sampled a variety of dishes (lamb curry, paneer salad, naan, biriyani, chickpea curry, raita) - overall food taste and quality was average. I think the price is a bit too much for the quantity and quality. Although I appreciate them openly mentioning on the menu that GMO ingredients are used, I’m really surprised and shocked at how abundant GMOs are being used across restaurants in the UK. I probably won’t be returning due to this fact alone, so if they can remove GMOs altogether, that would definitely appeal to more health conscious customers. The service was generally good, but would prefer to have the services charges/tips be truly optional versus buried on the bill (it’s not North America, after all). Overall, not bad, but not spectacular either.

Excellent Indian restaurant, two dining options, a la carte, downstairs and more informal upstairs. I had dinner a la carte and the experience was fantastic. Also excellent service. Many options so there will always be something you like.

All three courses downstairs were inventive, flavoursome and delicious. Loved the kerala cauli and aubergine main. Lamb raan a tad salty, choc tart the perfect finish. Service a bit slow but in all a very good find.

Very delicious, nice treatment, quick service, and its location is close to the hotels that the Gulf people love. We ordered samosa, puri, chicken masala, and chicken biryani, and all of them were the best.

Great service and food. This is a busy place at lunch time and we were given the chance to order almost within a couple of minutes but we needed time to decide whether to order new to us items or the same as last time. As the dishes were exceptional last time, we ordered the same. The roti, the vegan biryani and the vegan puri pani. We also had an ayurvedic tea. The waiter was very helpful to understand what flavours and dishes we'd like and the restaurant is very clean. What surprised me is that although this is in what you'd call an affluent part of town, many guests eat like and leave their table in a horrible state. We had three waiters needed to clean the table next to us as chairs, table and floor below had food spillage everywhere. You get a mix of locals and a mix of tourists. This is a great place for food if you are shopping on Oxford street, Selfridges or are near Hyde Park.

The two floors below Fine Dining and the one above Street Food are all good, but I liked the one above that has more masalas, samosas and biryani, and the one below is Butter Chicken.

Good Indian food, spicy by European standards, mid level by Indian standards, they have street food section and more formal section. We used the street good section, both food and service was very good.

The curries taste like Indian home food. Amazing spot to stop at after a long day shopping at Oxford Street. This place is favoured by locals as well as Arabic tourists, from The Gulf. Very friendly and welcoming staff even though we arrived minutes before kitchen closes.

Very, very normal service. The restaurant is lower than its previous level, and the quality of serving dishes is not at the level of delicious Indian food. I hope they improve the quality of the restaurant and the taste ✋🏻

Roti Chai, in the heart of London, one of our favorite foodie joints. A culinary gem offering everything from Mumbai street food and Punjab Dhaba food to fine dining from Calcutta and Bengal, as well as South Indian Tiffin. Rosina, was very kind to adjust our booking times to 15 minutes later, as we were running little late. Usually food and service are impeccable, but this time on our visit on 5th Sept 2024 at dinner, while other dishes like Idly Sambar, Dahi Poori, Shezwan Wedges, etc were fine, except Mumbai or Bombay Bhel which extremely disappointing, it tasted of just of chilli sauce, with no flavour or fragrance of other ingredients like tamarind chutney, & mint chutney, etc. The Waiter who took our order passed by our table several times, pretending to by busy, escaping eye contact, to avoid us reminding him to bring our Idly Sambar, which he completely forgot about. Finally, a Waitress who passed by was surprised to note this, that we had not been served all the dishes we ordered, went and brought the missing dish instantly. Management has deteriorated, with all waiters just roaming around pretending to be busy. We've tried almost all their dishes and relished each one, especially the Idli Sambar and all the Chaat items, which are truly authentic and presented in traditional style. Fantastic food. One of the best Indian restaurants in London. Their prawns are incredible!! Biryani was a little dry and old almost as though it's been in the fridge for a couple of days. Please release a cookbook! Or make videos on tiktok that would be a hit. Service is impeccable as always. Worth noting that service charge doesn't translate into tips for the staff. They don't see that money which is dishonest imo.

We had 11 people at a long table and ordered family style. the food was delicious and the staff coped very well with our chaotic group. The chai was delicious too. Kudos for the lift for accessible access to the restrooms too.

GT Road Chicken: Very regular masala, good quantity and enough for 3 people In short: I will not recommend the restaurant to anyone, and of course it is impossible to return to it.

An Indian restaurant, the biryani has sweet vegetables and light pepper, and the same story goes for the shrimp masala. As for the gobi, it is spicy and they mix potatoes with it. In general, it is delicious, but it was crowded. It is better to cut it before it is cooked.

Went to Roti Chai near Marble Arch at 6:30pm without a reservation. Found out on arrival that the downstairs was closed because it was a Monday and upstairs did not have room for five. We walked out glum, but while debating what to do, a hostess came out and said that they could try to fit us in a table for four. We so appreciated that. I he food was great and service very good and responsive. Upstairs you order a bunch of small plates—2 or 3 per person. The veggie samosa chat was fantastic as was the sambar. The aloo ghobi was wonderfully spicy. Excellent quality lamb (not spicy). We didn’t realize that a “bun” is basically a burger on a brioche, but the lamb bun was great. Chicken “lollipops” are butterflied drumsticks cooked in a chickpea flour dust. Watermelon juice and blue lychee mocktail were very refreshing. Would love to go back. We left very happy. Highly recommend for a casual atmosphere for a family.

The restaurant, Mashallah, is large, tidy and elegant. Their service is excellent and their food is delicious. This is what we tried from them 👇🏻 I wished there were more options for food, such as butter chicken and meat biryani, which are not available on the menu.

The place consists of two places, the first floor is Street Food India and the floor below is Fine Dining I chose Fine Dining because I was a father of butter chicken We ordered potato salad, biryani and butter chicken. The food is delicious, especially the butter chicken. The service is fast and the prices are reasonable. Next time I try street food India. I recommend visiting.

A hidden gem 💎 My colleagues, were looking for some lunch and we found Roti Chai. I was very impressed with the food and the service was good. All the food was perfectly cooked and spiced. The lollipop chicken starter and GT road chicken main were amazing. Have a cup of masala chai after your meal to help it all settle too!

What a fantastic experience from start to finish. We descended into the downstairs to some of the most elegant modern decor, complemented by equally polished service. The surroundings and attentiveness was pitch perfect. Everything we tried from the menu was delicious but the standouts were the paneer and pepper kabobs dusted with chili and from our entrees, the palak paneer, tarka dahl and chicken tikka were absolutely heavenly. Our cocktails could have been made a little less sweeter but otherwise, the meal was perfect. We will be returning here before returning home! Aug 31, 2014

On a visit to London & Roti Chai did not disappoint as a location for an early evening meal. Very tasty food served with no delays. We ate upstairs - busy but nice relaxed environment. The person looking after us, Tika, us was brilliant & enhanced what was already an excellent meal. Enjoyed the whole experience so much, we went back again a couple of days later.

To go to Indian in London! We love this place and will be back.

A delicious Indian restaurant with distinctive cooking with a wonderful taste and exceptional and fast service. Despite the crowds, the dishes are in large quantities and the price is very reasonable. We entered and they asked us if you want fatty dishes or light ones. I said fatty, I didn’t come to play. Hahaha. He said yes, I went downstairs and ordered Chicken Biryani and Butter Chicken, which are very delicious.

I visited this restaurant with my friend last week and we had the most amazing meal. We ate lunch upstairs in the street food kitchen. There is also a more formal dining room downstairs with a different menu that I can’t wait to try. The concept in the street food kitchen is tapas style plates and we had 6 plates to share between us which was ideal as we were able to try many different dishes. Every dish was absolutely delicious! I’m still thinking about the pani puri and the bun chilli chicken. It was without a doubt the best Indian food I’ve had in London! I also had a delicious spicy margarita. When we finished our meal the manager came to our table to check that everything was okay. The food, ambience and service was excellent and I’ll definitely visit again the next time I’m near Oxford street!
