We have lived close by for 6 years and never visited before but a rare child-free night so we decided to give the Roseycombe a go. Really, really nice and helpful staff, food served exactly as described, quickly and cooked well. The pub itself is beautiful and inviting with beautiful views from the conservatory and the garden. Officially ashamed we haven't visited before

We live local but haven’t visited before as there are three good pubs nearer,. This time we dropped in as we walked past, thinking we might be lucky to get a table. The place was busy, but still had tables. We looked through the menu and it had a good choice of regular pub fare. There were some vegan choices, but not loads. What really struck us though were the prices, they were low so we wondered what we’d get on our plates. The bar was busy, but I still got served quickly by the friendly and very competent Anne. There was a good array of beers and and Anne pours a good pint. When our food came it was really nice, so great value for money. I ordered another pint, but had trouble paying as the minimum spend on a card is £5.00. That’s a very good problem to have as my pint of Moretti was only £4.30. I’d have paid over a fiver in my three locals. No problem tipping the balance to get to the minimum. We enjoyed our visit and will be back. We chose to sit near to the vibrant bar, but there are tables in the main dining area that are quieter and then there is a much quieter conservatory. I would have chosen the mixed grill but it sold out at lunch time. Probably just as well as I’m trying to cut back on meat. My chicken curry and Roses soup were tasty. The beer was spot on.

Visiting from a different area and needed somewhere to have dinner. Found this place on TripAdvisor and wasn't let down. Lovely place with plenty of tables (although glad we booked as was very popular). Very reasonable prices for drinks and food. Food was amazing. Whole table was served at the same time with piping hot, home made food. Absolutely amazing and very impressed. Very large portions! single only thing that wasn't perfect is that toilets could do with refurb at some stage but that's me being really picky. Thank you for a lovely evening

Booked in Monday for lunch at 1230pm..not too busy..staff very warm, friendly and welcoming. From the lunch menu a superb home made steak and Stilton pie with puff pastry top served with chips and peas. A decent pint of Bass to go with it. The premises are beautifully clean and has a great ambiance. My wife had the salmon served with new potatoes and a fresh salad. Faultless all round. Looking to visit again soon..

Don't like to post a harsh review but on this occasion I feel I must. Popped into the roseycoombe today whilst out and about with hubby, daughter and the dog. Sat in the garden. Food available was roast dinner or salmon or burgers. We all opted for roast. I hate to say but it was grim. I ate about a 3rd if that. Roasties were Aunt Bessie variety you could tell and were hard and dry. Meat was not a turkey per say, more like the turkey you get from the deli counter and warm up. Stuffing bullet like. Tbf cauliflower cheese looked nice (I don't like it so cant comment). Spoonful of carrots and cabbage. Now the worst bit which made the whole thing unpalletable. The gravy. It was thick and lumpy with a strange orange hue , not dissimilar to curry paste ( I cant describe it any other way) it didn't pour out the jug it plopped out. Truly nasty. Husband and daughter are from the 'pay up and keep quiet ' brigade I'm afraid so when the lady asked if all ok I just didn't comment. If I was on my own I'd have politely said I can't eat that and sent it back. We've had a lovely meal in there before now. No idea what has happened. Won't be going again. Truly dreadful. Try another night but I don't recommend a Sunday lunch. Sorry.

I visit this pub when staying at a local hotel and am never disappointed. The food is basic pub food, cooked fresh - the pies are excellent, the specials too are good. I’ve never had cause for complaint - portion size good. This is not gourmet cuisine - but it is as good as it gets for pub food - and excellent value for money. It gets busy so worth booking, especially at weekends. It’s privately owned - not a chain pub - which is great because the owner and his wife are there to ensure all is well. TGI Fridays is nearby as is the Cocked Hat if you want food cooked to a formula - but come here - it’s better.

Booked for 9 people on a Thursday night, first and last time in here unless it has new management. I asked at the bar for a Newcastle Brown ale which I always drink and drink from the bottle as it’s one of those ales that tastes better that way. Point blank refused to give me the bottle, when asked why I was told they didn’t want to see me walking around with it??I said I would be sitting eating my meal with it. This old lady snapped at me “my rules, not yours” I thought this is the first time in your pub and you speak to me in that tone. I have worked in customer service in hotels on the front desk and now run a successful business so I know a bit about how to speak and treat customers. So I said “look I would just like to drink my ale out of the bottle as I always do. Once again she snapped “my rules not yours”. We should of all left then but decided to sit down after changing to an Amstel lager. It was flat so I took it back, I said to the bar lady “ this drink is flat” she even barked at me saying “give it here I’ll sort it”She just poured it into another glass. I said “ that’s the same pint”. It’s the glass she said pushing it back at me. That was it I returned to the table and said to the others I’m not spending any more money in here. We all decided we would go to the cocked hat. Just then the old lady came over who I take is the land lady. She said are you lot ordering food? I said not after the way your rude staff have spoke to me. She said “no one spoke to you rudely I was there”. What a lie, she was out the back when I took my pint back. We all left and had a lovely meal at the cocked hatUnbelievable the way they speak to people and lost a lot of money tonight on starters mains & deserts, it was the cocked hats gain though.

Popped in to the Roseycombe for a spot of lunch as having previously been before know that the food is good. However on this occasion we had a long wait for our food. The pub was busy and was told there would be a wait of 45 minutes so while not especially happy about that decided to go ahead. The food finally arrived over an hour later! So if you’re on a tight schedule it’s not great. The pub was busy with what looked like a lot of elderly customers who obviously have more time on their hands so a long wait probably doesn’t bother them. The staff there were constantly busy with only 2 staff bringing the orders out and clearing tables so think they need to put more staff on for busy times. The food is great and brilliantly priced but don’t think i’ll return if had to have such a long wait.

Foods fantastic, atomsphere is great, staff are brilliant, clientel are friendly and of all ages, beers lovely and overall its a phenominal pub...But I have to say, you have to try 'Rons home made chicken liver pate' WOW, its to die for. Ron kindly gave me some to serve as a starter at our Christmas lunch at home. Went down a storm with our guests...they would rather tuck into the pate with white buttered toasted fingers than the Turkey and Beef. Waitrose and Aubrey Allen, eat your heart out. Personally I wouldn't choose to eat here but a friend had organised an evening out for 3 of us and this was her choice. The menu was disappointing and there was nothing I really wanted so opted to order a cheeseburger and some onion rings. The burger came out on an untoasted soft roll that had been buttered (I know buttered), and the onion rings were obviously the sort you get frozen from a supermarket. One friend had gammon which looked like it needed cooking longer (especially the egg as the white looked barely set), she said she enjoyed it but left quite a bit on her plate. The other friend did eat all of her roast dinner and said she enjoyed it. The pudding menu was a bit more interesting looking and I had the warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. The cake tasted fine but was not particularly warm and again tasted like the chocolate fudge cake you can buy frozen in a supermarket. The Eton mess that my friend had was freshly made and she really liked it. As my friends decided to have coffee I chose to get a latte. This was obviously made from a sachet as there was still some of the undissolved powder in the mug (i should have learnt my lesson after the burger).

Gracias

This is very much a pub for the locals. It's absolutely fine and comfortable enough. The food is freshly cooked and basic pub food - nothing special but pretty good value. It's not the prettiest pub - there are other country pubs around which have a nicer environment - but it's fine if you're staying locally as I was and want a change from hotel food. If you're a lone female business traveller like me - you'll feel slightly uncomfortable.

I was looking for somewhere local to eat while staying at the Premier Inn, and didn't fancy TGI Friday's. Luckily I always check the ratings on Trip Advisor, and The Roseycombe has some good reviews, so I gave it a try. The other bonus is it's only 10 minutes walk from the Premier Inn so no need to drive. I had cottage pie & chips as a main course, all homemade, followed by syrup sponge and custard. Both were delicious and a good portion size. I also had a couple of pints of Theakstons. It's pretty good value for money. Less than £18 for my meal. I recommend it.

We visited Roseycombe pub as the reviews were so good. We weren't disappointed - we had steak and kidney and steak and mushroom pies with mash and peas and they were delicious. You could well drive past this pub if you judge a book by its cover but you won't be disappointed if you venture in.

Once again we visited this lovely pub/restaurant at the weekend and food was amazing! Very busy night on Saturday seemed like there was some kind of event going on. But the atmosphere was brilliant! Great food again!. P.s to the person that is complaining about times. It clearly says what time food is served. Don't rate a very hard working business if you didn't even eat there. Just some friendly advice. Looks like the roseycombe and especially the bar staff and kitchen staff are doing an amazing job! Good work
