This was a total disastererous lunch at Rosemarys. There is no sign to tell you to order at counter and pay, the staff just look at you!!!. I ordered 2 fruit scones 1 plain scone and a tomato soup. Cappuccino and Latte and decaf Cappucino. Paid £29.00 very expensive, as I actually never got one of the fruit scones. The two girls serving seem very disinterested in serving the customers and I couldnt see who was doing the cooking in the cupboard!. I received one of the coffees and it was stone cold, asked for it to be heated & think they just microwaved it as came back in same cup!!. Soup was served without my fruit scone, it was actually ok, but I will not be returning any time soon. And to top it all they do not have customer toilets!!!!! what kind of a cafe is this!!!!! 😡😡😡

The only cafe (not fish and chip shop) we could find in sea houses which let dogs in on a rainy day. We simply ordered coffee and scones. I couldn’t see into the kitchen but when the chef came out, his trousers were filthy. They were hanging below his underpants so we had full view of underpants and upper buttocks. Not good enough! Worryingly, their hygiene rating was not displayed….

Dropped by for coffee and drinking chocolate. Drinking chocolate was Luke warm. The cake was excellent. I noted on the prices board a can of soft drink £2.85 "Really "appreciate things have gone up but that is ridiculous. I hear the old lament that they have to make their money in season' but I really think it was expensive for what we had. Tourist prices wont be rushing back

Unfortunately, it was disappointing. I feel mean as there was nothing wrong with the tea and cake I had - they were lovely. However, the girls serving did not seem to have a clue. Although very polite the service was their downfall. I got the impression they were young weekend staff who really need direction. I gave my order (tea, cake and a glass of water). I should have taken the fact that the girl had to use the calculator on her watch to add up the cost of the 2 items as a warning. 5 mins later a pot of tea and small jug of milk arrived. But it was 10 minutes after this before the glass of water arrived. I then pointed out that the tea would be no good for me now (I hate stewed tea and always take teabags out quite quickly as I’d not got a cup. The girl then brought a cup and I had to insist on a fresh pot of tea. She took it away and another 5 minutes passed before a fresh pot was brought (with an apology) and a further 5 minutes before I received the slice of cake. In all, after the first item arriving in 5 mins it took 25 mins to the final (slice of cake) to arrive. I really hadn’t anticipated this length of time and if I hadn’t paid in advance at the counter I would definitely have left telling them to cancel the order. They need to serve one table fully rather than bits to each.

I really want to give this place a higher rating as I appreciate how important reviews can be. However, it is very difficult to. If we split our visit up into service and food... Food wise, drinks and food was decent although as per other comments, perhaps on the expensive side but it is Seahouses and a captive audience so it is to be expected. Kids all enjoyed their milkshakes and lunches which is always a bonus...! I would comment that my "homemade sausage roll" was served in a paper bag and suspiciously looked like it had been bought from a local shop just 2 minutes before. It was tasty enough but at £5, it came with nothing else at all. Service wise, well, that was a completely different story and I really feel for the girl that served us. Although she apologised for being hard of hearing, it was obvious she was really struggling with the very basics. I think it is common courtesy and good practice to recite customers' orders back to them so there is no confusion. This was not done and therefore there was a lot of back and forth. We had also indicated that although we were sitting together with friends, we wanted separate bills. This also had to be explained a number of times which was frustrating. So overall, we would not return which is a shame as we always look to support local and small businesses where we can.

Total rip off and no toilet when you have an elderly family member with you and to be told the loo is the public loo across the road. The only reason they have people go in is of where it is. Title says it all. Top of my list to avoid in future. Food, staff etc was fine.I'm disabled so I'd never, ever, willingly order food & drink in a place with no toilets.Strangely, this is the second place in my 71 years to not have a toilet & the other was in Northumberland (a couple of weeks ago) as well. Northumberland is rapidly becoming a place to avoid!!

Positives there is sanitizer on each table and the floor is well marked for social distancingThe cafe has outdoor seating but the inside is rather drabIt started ok I ordered two coffees and scones. The girl I ordered from was welcoming and polite but as she was about to take my payment she was interrupted by her colleague who seemed to be agitated about something and this is where it started to go downhill. Whatever it was put the first girl off as she completely forgot where she was with my order. We then waited for over ten minutes whilst other customer who had arrived after us received their order. We were about to ask where our order was when the first girl approached and asked what we had ordered. We quickly received two coffees which to be charitable were average. We then waited another 15 minutes for the scones which were tasty enough but rather doughy.I am reluctant to criticise in the current climate where establishments are having to operate under difficult circumstances but the negative aspects are basics not effected by the rules and restrictions

Visiting seahouses for the first time my husband and I wanted a coffee and a piece of cake, and after walking around this appeared to be the only one we could locate. Truthfully had their been another coffee shop in seahouses we wouldn't have gone in here. On arrival we had to queue. The staff do not direct you in and after watching one table leave and seeing the staff cleaning of the tables isn't great even without covid 19 to consider. The carpet looked dirty and bits of food which clearly doesn't get picked up often. After sitting at the table for sometime and people coming in for takeout, not sure if they do offer table service but became clear unless we went to the counter we was not getting served. There is a notepad on the table you are asked to leave your personal details in for track and trace. I declined to leave my details as the book is picked up by anyone that sits at the table and has access to your personal data something I wasn't happy to leave for anyone to read. The coffee and cake we had were okay but not great. Definitely not a pleasant chilled out experience at all.

Popped in because we wanted a cheap and quick bite in a normal cafe, opposed to some of the more expensive places in Seahouses. Friendly greeting from helpful staff. The food wasn't anything spectacular, some of it was homemade (but not necessarily fresh), and some of it was clearly out of a tin/jar. I had a breakfast bap, and while the bacon and black pudding was lovely, the bap had obviously been defrosted as the bottom of it was cold and hard to the touch. My partner had scones and they were reheated, hard on the outside but warm and soft on the inside. The prices were about right for what we had, nothing fancy, no frills, but quick and friendly.

As crab is my fave food, we ordered crab sandwiches from the specials board. What a disappointment. Dry bread and what looked like crab paste my old mum used to give us for picnics. At 5.95 this was very poor value as it was a very thin smudge of crab. Both scones looked reasonable on the outside but were doughy inside and tasted horrible. I complained and asked for a piece of shortbread. It was under baked, soggy and had a peculiar taste. In the end we left two scones and more than half the shortbread. Overheard someone asking for the toilet and being told it was broken so none available. Is that legal? As someone else has mentioned the menus were worn, sticky and dirty. The staff were on their phones and not in the least bothered that we were complaining. We ended up paying for everything as we didn't want to make a fuss in front of people and we already knew that the staff couldn't care less. Do not be deceived by its external appearance. It wasn’t necessarily the fact Rosemarys did not have any gluten free cake or Earl Grey tea but more the way the member of staff conveyed the message. I'm not quite sure what some of the reviewers expect from a small cafe in a seaside resort, but reasonable prices, quick service with a smile is what we were looking for. The meals were( for a tourist site) large and despite arriving in the middle of the lunch rush, served by a friendly staff. Yes, it was a bit thrown together, but it also was not enormously overpriced for the privilege of perfection. On a wet Monday, reasonable and cheerful was exactly what was wanted.

Had Big breakfast which was 2 bacon 2 sausages hash browns tomato beans mushrooms 2 fried eggs fried bread and toast, fantastic worth the wait good quality great price well cooked, filter coffee strong and tasty. Maybe could open a bit sooner Saturday is a main changeover day for holidaymakers, who may need to be getting home or have paid for parking which may run out whilst waiting

We had a really lovely lunch in this little cafe. Although the service was not the most efficient we have experienced, this is very understandable as the cafe was quite busy at the time. We enjoyed a very nice cup of tea and bacon sandwiches, which were excellent. I would definitely recommend popping into this cafe for lunch or afternoon tea if you happen to be in Seahouses.

We went as a group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 children for a late lunch. There's seating inside and a few tables outside. Service was friendly. The food was good. The crab sandwich came with lots of filling and the bread had a good flavour. The scones had just come out of the oven. The teacake was the largest I have seen and my son told me it was delicious. The carrot cake was light and moist. They had a limited selection of soft drinks but it included apple or orange juice cartons. There didn't appear to be any toilet facilities.

We came in for a cuppa and a cake. It was alright though a bit pricey. Coffee could've been hotter and tea was just a teabag in a pot, nothing special. Cakes were quite nice (chocolate orange and lemon rhubarb). They don't take contactless.

A small cafe set just off the main street in Seahouses with the sea 50 yards away. Small outdoor front seating available.Ordered 2 cheese and pickle sandwiches. 10 mins later waitress came back out and said there's no pickle but we have this... and held up half an eaten jar of tomato chutney ? We declined and ordered 1 cheese & onion and 1 cheese & tomato. We received 2 cheese and tomatoes. Sandwiches came with salad and a slice of lemon ? No coleslaw or mayo. I've never squirted lemon juice over my salad ? Worst part was I paid £1.45 for a water. Tap water came in an IKEA glass (see picture). Absolute rip off. Never going here again... my slice of lemon did however flavour my tap water !!!

I really ought to have walked out straight away, picking up the menu was quite a shock, not as regards to the limited dishes available but the menu card itself was sticky/greasy...as are the walls etc. I was sat in a corner and I felt that I was actually in the deep fat fryer. We waited a long long time for anything to appear from the kitchen, the beverages we ordered were not available and it became very clear that other customers were dissatisfied too - you are squashed in and I could clearly hear complaints around the tables, mostly people were concerned about the time taken to receive orders (worries over possibility of a 'car parking fine' in one case) Many customers had their drinks delivered then much later their food would arrive. Our food was adequate but the accompanying salad was limp - I consider that the food is overpriced. I was aware that my clothes had taken on the aroma of the grease and I was therefore reluctant to enter any other shops, choosing to return home to have a shower and place everything we were wearing into the washing machine. It was supposed to be a birthday 'treat' / day out but it was finished by our experience at this cafe.

Popped in here for some lunch as looked like a lovely little independent place to eat.Service was fine 2 nice enough young women. We ordered a cheese and bacon panini, example photo outside looked lovely. What arrived was some mush in a panini, looked like cheap sandwich filler. Few bits of chopped up meat, it was awful. Complained but the young people running the place didn't know how to deal with it.We spent £25 in there so would have expected to be offered an alternative.

We called in here after walking 2 miles from Beadnell and then another mile along the beach with our dog. My husband had a de-caffeinated coffee and I ordered cream tea for one. There were 2 scones so we had one each with jam and clotted cream on. My husband said the coffee was nice and the pot I had held enough for almost 2 cups. The scones were delicious - we had one each - yum yum ! Nice place.

Nipped in today after coming off of a boat trip. We were in need of a snack and a warm drink. We ordered a tea, latte and orange juice along with a portion of chips, cream scone and rarebit special. Came yo almost £17 which I thought was too much. Chips seemed to have been refried and while my rarebit was very tasty it was very expensive at £6.50. My partner ordered a cream scone which he hoped to have with his latte but unfortunately the scone came after he'd finished his latte. The Staff were helpful though. Can't help but think there are better within walking distance

We went here today and ordered food and drinks. I noticed the kitchen was absolutely filthy- a fly in an open tub of margarine, dirty and unswept floor, pans and deep fat fryers caked in grease. It was awful, and we subsequently cancelled the food order! Had coffee and other drinks which were prepared behind the counter, which was much cleaner. I'd say if you were having coffee and cake (in the counter display) you'll be ok, but would urge you to look in the kitchen (on the right behind the counter) before you order hot food!

Stopped here for lunch with my parents. Good customer service and friendly staff. Dogs allowed inside. Nice cosy, little cafe. Slight wait for the food. Panini's were very tasty, however they were very sparse with their portion of coleslaw and crisps! My Dad basically got a few crumbs. My mum had a latte and asked for it extra hot, but it came luke warm. Overall nice food and friendly staff. However, don't say Panini's come with coleslaw and crisps if its literally going to fit on a teaspoon.

I had a traditional breakfast and my daughter had a bacon and egg roll. The service was good. The decor was ok. The food was a bit disappointing. I think they must be using old oil of something. The sausages looked cheap, the bacon, although it was thick enough, was quite salty and fatty. The fried bread had a bitter taste to it, from the oil, I think. The coffee was very nice, though.

Disappointed... restaurant right at the back of the garden center...hubby has full English which was adequate.. although the black pudding was likened to a hockey puck..scrabbled egg on toast for me..egg was hard lumps and cold..as was my coffee... overpriced for what it was..

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.
