Incredible spinach and feta puff pie with their fresh garden salad. All enjoyed in the the dappled sunshine shade on picnic tables - summer heaven!

You know how kids hum when eating something they really like? That's what I did, at 52 years of age, eating chicken meatballs in toasted focaccia bread from here. This was the best thing I had eaten in months. The meatballs were soft and delicious, the bread perfectly toasted and crispy, and a wonderful sauce inside. It was a big portion, at first looking at it I thought I'd save half for dinner, but there was no way I could stop eating until it was all gone. Spitalfields City Farm is almost an hour and half from where I live and I'm already thinking of excuses to go all the way back for another one. Be warned though, it's messy to eat, you need extra napkins. The women who runs this tea hut is lovely and friendly. There is a nice seating area outside. The farm itself is great to visit with young children, there are animals, play areas and they grow vegetables and salad. My five year old daughter loved it (and the chocolate chip cookie she had from the tea hut). There is a nice park with climbing frames and a zipline next door which never seems busy. Wherever you are in London it's worth a trip here as part of a day out with kids. It's a short walk to Shoreditch where you can get a bus which takes just a few minutes down to Monument, see Pudding Lane where the fire of London started and then a five minute walk to the River Thames, see the Tower of London, Tower Bridge etc. But make sure you eat at this tea hut!

Had an interesting mix of flavours and textures in my Balkan breakfast (see photo) which worked very well. A mixture of breads, paste, eggs and sausages. My other two friends had the very tasty shakshuka and pancakes. A lot on the upside, drinks good and decent price, location, setting atmosphere but just wish waitresses weren’t so surly … the owner however was very pleasant and chatted with us at our table. I’ve been a few times and will go again. Good value for money at least the brunch items we had which included a glass of sparkling for £6. Go try the out the varied menu.

Five takeaway drinks and cakes just before closing! Not only did the guy offer to help carry round the corner, one drink was free. My family are fussy about coffee but enjoyed this and the brownie was gooey and lovely too.
