Seems to be closed for the long term. A neighbour said it had closed after Christmas 2023 & not reopened.

Oh dear, popped in here whilst out having a walk... Found a table right opposite the bar, the pub wasnt too busy as it was only 8pm, but the table was dirty with torn tatty used beer mats and crumbs everywhere.Totally unacceptable, has nothing been learned since the pandemic? The bar man was right opposite us and not busy, it would have taken him 2 mins to sort it. Also not sure of your policy but there were children in there after 8, we didnt have a problem with this but when the parents are drinking too much and kids are running around its a shame the staff couldnt intervene, for the safety and care of everyone. Ive heard this used to be a nice pub, a shame really.

Arrived 10 mins after food had finished. Chef was obliging and kindly cooked my daughter's two of the finest burgers they have eaten in a long while. It made Father's Day.

Would recommend me and and family Had the roast pork dinner didn't expect alot as never see many people in and never had food here before but it was fantastic wasnt a massive quantity but the quality was great all the family enjoyed will deffo be coming back again soon larger seems to have been kept well as still sparkling after been left on the table for half hour as I'm driving and drinking slow great little pub and the new park is way better than the old one would deffo recommend to anyone who's looking for great food a great pint and quality place for kids to play

Lovely pub with an extensive beer garden. Serves food and drinks as expected. Thursday nights are a good choice to visit as there's an onsite stone baked pizza service 🍕 Dogs are more than welcome with water provided. Limited parking available but never had a trouble finding a spot locally if driving. Definitely worth a visit for all of the family.

Blatant disregard for the community at a time that they need community support. Elderly residents told to **** off when asked to turn the music down late at night. No active landline number to call as the displayed website numbers have been disconnected. Shameful.

Took my son who was visiting from Kent who said " Wow Mum fancy having a fantastic local pub like this" We enjoyed the 4 tapas dishes we ordered great flavours and hot" Bradfield beer was available too which brought back memories for him! Just a bit slow on the service when it got busier.

Desperate for our first post lockdown pint, we headed for the good sized beer garden here, usually a pleasant place to sit and chat. It's been spruced up a bit, but it's starting to look tired. Unfortunately the landlord had decided that the Saturday night loud music vibe must go on despite restrictions, so had brought his speakers out too. We sat as far away as we could and had a reasonably nice time taking with friends we hadn't seen for ages, but I'm glad I don't live next door to this pub... The pint of Tim Taylor's Landlord was disappointing - I know it's a difficult beer to keep in top condition as it requires very clean lines and doesn't like to hang around, but I reckoned: freshly cleaned lines, fresh cask, it should be perfect. It wasn't bad, but not as good as it could have been. The farmer's Blonde was okay, but it's hard to spoil that. Most of the staff were polite and helpful, but one was grumpy and had that 'would rather be sat with my own pint rather than serving you' demeanor. But it was the end of what had looked like a very busy first Saturday back after lockdown. I think this is one of the better pubs in Wadsley, but it could be so much better...

Came here recently for a hungover Sunday dins and it was spot on. Really good portion size and not expensive either. Can’t wait to return as I’ve had a few disappointing ones in S6. The atmosphere and staff were great too, very friendly. I think I’ve found my new local :)

Well what can I say, another great meal at the rose & crown. I had chilli, was lovely and hot, really good taste and washed it down with a lovely pint of farmers blonde. Staff are great here, very friendly and willing to help. Will definitely be returning with family and friends, thanks!

Myself and hubby decided on a late lunch hereafter hearing of the new menu. Decided to try the sharing steak pie. Although we waited about half an hour,it was most definitely worth it. The chef brought out the large steak filled pie, ( clearly home made and with beautiful pastry,) served on a board for easy sharing , accompanied by home made chips,potato mash,carrot and swede mash,buttered garden peas,thick gravy with onions and also a jug of minted gravy. Other customers sat near us were looking at all the dishes that came with the meal. Needless to say we didn't need to eat for the rest of the day!! Would most definitely recommend anyone give this homely little pub a try.

Eaten here a few times in the past and not rated it but the new chef is fantastic. He is more than happy to adapt spice levels etc if you ask. The squid starter was beautiful and would recommend. Dirty fries are great for sharing with a pint, steak was cooked to perfection, mushroom starter was a big hit with the kids. The specials are always worth a try too, mexican eggs were delicious. Good prices for great food. Cant wait to try more off the menu

This is the gem. The pub is under a new management, children friendly with excellent homemade food (not a big choice, but traditional and enough to please anyone) and real ales available. There is a beer garden outside and quite spacious inside, despite the appearance. Usually the pub is not very busy yet (mostly locals and walkers). There are nice walks nearby at Wadsley common.

j june crookes christmas day employ 1 more staff preferably local and a couple youngster s to collect glasses maybe cost a bit more but will pay in long run this goes for all events remember no one wants to wait for clean glasses people will walk out and not return use this as friendly critisium its a lovely pub june crookes

Came here for Sunday lunch. It was excellent. Very welcoming and great service. Food was amazing and I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Eaten here a few times, twice this week! Food was fantastic, Chef was happy to make changes to a meal for my partner who doesn't like minted peas, so changed this to leaks & spinach, which went really well with the salmon & crushed new potatoes.Always a good pint, good selection. Friendly, can't fault the place.

Amazing, just had christmas dinner here and it was was amazing, Yet again another perfect meal and the staff was very accomadating and couldnt do enough for us chef included. It saddens me to hear of all the bad reviews weve never had a bad experience here and would definitely recommend that any one who has please give it a second chance.

the pub is brilliant quality for food and the the the 2 young bar staff were brilliant with brilliant customer services by even helping us carry drinks even though they were packed can’t fault the pub or staff

The Pub has changed hands over the last few years, I hope the new owners are successful and that the local community use it. Good range of beers, which are kept well and the food is good 👍

Awful...roast shoe leather...very small portions...3 pieces of carrot 2 tiny pieces of brownish/grey broccoli...grey mash and grey looking soggy roasties...burnt hard yorkshire puds and no gravy...wouldn’t have given it to my dog....... Management and Staff could do with customer service training......

I have been a regular to this pub since the late 70's and have seen its fortunes wax and wane.

7 de nosotros fuimos a cenar allí esta noche. La camarera con cabello oscuro no debería estar trabajando en un papel de cara al cliente. Nos miró por la nariz, nunca logró sonreír y tuvo un problema de actitud. La comida llegó y había pagado la comida de un niño grande, ¡obtuvimos 2 nuggets de pollo! Mi amiga pagó la comida de un niño pequeño, recibió 1 nugget de pollo. ¡Entonces cobran 2 por 1 pepita! Mi otro amigo pagó 80 p por cebolla en la hamburguesa de un niño y consiguió un pedazo de cebolla. Fue ridículo. Ni una vez nos preguntaron si todo estaba bien. La horrible camarera miserable vio que habíamos terminado y no quitó los platos, de hecho, todavía no los habían quitado una hora después de que termináramos la comida. El pub es una broma. Evitar.

Good food need more bar staff at busier times

We called here after a family dog walk as it advertised muddy paws & boots welcome! We sat outdoors and ordered drinks and food. WOW, we were served some amazingly tasty and beautifully presented food. We got talking to some regular muddy paw visitors. We were all so stuffed after eating and we’re all impressed all plates clean, not a scrap for the dogs!

Lugar realmente encantador. Fui a almorzar con un amigo y desafortunadamente se les acabaron las tartas vegetarianas. . . . . . Sin embargo, no fue un problema, ellos fueron a buscar uno para mí del pub de su hermana, The Peacock, Stannington. Así que, tuve un ENORME pastel de brócoli y Stilton hecho en casa, puré y guisantes con salsa de verduras. ! ! ! Fue genial y tuve salsa extra! ! ! ! ¿Qué más podría pedir una chica? . . . ¡Oh, solo cuesta un diezmo! ! ! ! Sin duda volveremos! ! ! ???

We just popped in for a drink on a nice sunny day. . For me it lacked atmosphere (perhaps because, surprisingly given the weather, it wasn't that busy). Nothing was wrong- the beer itself and the prices were fine, but nothing particularly stood out.

Pedimos una bebida y nos sentamos en la parte de atrás, el chico detrás del bar fue muy amable. No pude decidir qué elegir y le pedí su opinión. Él recomendó el pescado y las patatas fritas. Esto nunca es algo que pido. Sin embargo, fue fantástico. Mi compañero pidió el bistec y lo disfrutó. Ambas comidas estaban muy bien de precio para lo que nos sirvieron. Nos quedamos y tomamos unas copas más mientras disfrutábamos de la música de fondo.

Really friendly staff! Lovely feel to the pub. As a fussy vegetarian there is so much choice on the menu and the food is absolutly delicious all cooked fresh some of the best food weve had. Deffinatly recommend!

Visited on an evening for a meal. There was a good choice of food on the menu at reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent. We will certainly visit again.

Great local pub. I usually visit on a weekday lunchtime. Lager is always good, staff are friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. Varied menu with tasty, well presented food. Another reviewer said they thought the fish and chips was nothing special but I find it to be really good (home made chips/batter) and on par with restaurant quality rather than pub. Make your own minds up. There's a big beer garden and it's right next to the common too for a pint before or after a walk. Happy to recommend.

My sister booked this venue 6 weeks ago for 11 of us for Mother's day.When we arrived we was told our booking had been cancelled.We said why because we had paid £55 deposit.The rude woman ssid they had tried to phone my sisters number to ask for a pre order.The number they had written down was one digit out.They never mentioned anything about pre ordering food when the booking was made.The manager apparently said to cancel the booking because they couldnt reach us to collect the pre order.This was terrible because all 11 of us which included 4 mothers for mothers day were turned away.We wasnt even offered a free drink or maybe a free meal voucher for the future.The woman said it was her handwriting in the book but she wasnt very apologetic and was quite rude.I wouldnt recommend booking any important reservations in this place because you cannot trust them.They said they cancelled the booking because they thought it was a hoax but yet we had paid £55 ?.We had to find a alternative venue at 3.30pm on Mother's day for 11 people.Thanx to Meadowfarm pub and restaurant we eventually eat at 16.30pm.Never book the Rose&Crown You have been warned.😣

Average. Four cask beers. Fish and chips nothing special - batter slightly crispy, chips okay. Very quiet on a Saturday lunchtime. Good and friendly service

A little gem tucked away off main roads. The Rose & Crown ( Top House ) Is a country style pub on the edge of Sheffield with friendly welcoming staff, lovely food is served daily with various meal deals. The pub is dog friendly and has a relaxed atmosphere and is worth a visit. Car parking is available, and the extensive beer garden does need a mention.

Excellent food, really nice traditional pub. Friendly staff, good service and well priced. I would highly recommend this pub.

Its ok in here with a few ales on tap not many common to the area which is a shame but one or two. Nice and warm and comfy with good service.

Vine aquí el domingo con la familia después de ver el cartel de "nuevo chef, nuevo menú, nueva actitud". Traer de vuelta al viejo chef, al menú anterior y a la antigua actitud. Solíamos ser asiduos aquí, pero como la mayoría del personal antiguo se fue, este bar ha caído drásticamente.

Vimos el tablero y dijo que la nueva actitud del nuevo menú de Chef nos dio una oportunidad. Bueno, lo hicimos ayer. Somos locales y caminamos hasta el pub y llegamos a alrededor de las 12. 45. Encontramos un asiento y nos levantamos para ir al bar a pedir. Un miembro del personal tomó un pedido de la mesa junto a nosotros con capacidad para 6 personas. Les llevó unos buenos 45 minutos a los suyos y a nuestro titular que llegaran después de que un miembro de la fiesta se acercara al bar y les preguntó dónde estaba el primer plato, ya que claramente había pedido que llegara la comida del niño con los entrantes. No lo hizo. Nuestros platos principales llegaron antes que los suyos (somos 2). Mi salmón parecía agradable, pero estaba crudo en el medio (no es difícil cocinar salmón) aunque las gambas con el plato eran encantadores. Esto fue tratado con prontitud. No quería otra comida y se ofreció una bebida gratis para compensar. Mi esposo disfrutó su comida. Cuando nos levantamos para irnos, la otra parte había recibido la mitad de sus comidas. Una señora había pedido la lasaña y las patatas fritas, y cuando miramos, ella acababa de comprar patatas fritas. Muy pobre estándar. El chef claramente no está a la altura y no puede hacer frente a una gran fiesta. No me gustaría que esto fallara, ya que el menú ha cambiado para mejor, pero el chef necesita ayuda. El personal es excelente, pero son jóvenes e inexpertos. No parecía haber ninguna gestión por aquí y parecía que el caos iba a regresar, pero tal vez un poco más tarde en el día. Salimos a las 2. 25 p. M. Un poco de espera larga y la otra parte aún no había sido servida. No está bien.
