Marmaduke's Cambridge Street in Sheffield

Prana chai latte was good and served hot. Service was unpleasant and without care. Be careful in the bathrooms because the water is boiling hot and the soap dispenser sprays upwards onto you when used. Politely fed this back and the response was along the lines of “I know, right?”. Not great.

They can’t even warm up a sandwich! Even tho they have all the tools to do so! PLUS some of the staff do not realise they are still humans like us, so they have to say: no, we can’t warm up your sandwich… in such a nasty manner. Anyway, I manage to imagine I was warming it up under the lamp. Never coming back again

Great cafe. There’s a 1 hour wifi limit per purchase but it’s a great work spot.

Really nice professional environment, perfect for getting some work done or just enjoying a hot drink and watching the world go by

Despite having a large upstairs area which was closed off for some reason, someone who seemed to be a manager insisted on separating the two seater table I was sat on whilst I was in the middle of a work call. In doing so he scattered my things all over the floor and did not apologise, instead acting in quite an aggressive manner saying he had tables to fill. No one sat at the then separated table, I was offered no explanation.. Unpleasant and totally unnecessary interaction. A really rude manager and a generally resentful attitude towards anyone wanting to hang around longer than 5 minutes with overpriced food/drink.

Absolutely delicious breakfast. All the staff were so helpful and kind and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing and not rushed.

Good toastie and avocado smash. Easily found a seat. But saw a wheelchair user come in, struggling to find a place to eat. No member of staff came to help him. I was watching from the first floor. 2 customers were hogging 2 tables, making a coffee last forever as they worked on their laptops. Maybe those tables should have been fir priority use by wheelchair users. Maybe the staff should have asked them to move. Maybe I got this all wrong but it looked that way to me.

Favourite coffee shop in Sheffield

Beautiful spot which builds upon the reputation of the first iteration of the venue. Great coffee and plenty of space inside.

Visited with a friend for brunch on a Saturday. We sat upstairs which was nice. It’s a busy place and the service isn’t the quickest. The coffee was quite average, but the avocado on GF corn bread was exceptional. You’ll pay a premium compared ti other coffee shops

Seemed really nice until they closed and unceremoniously and inpolitely threw me out with 2 minutes notice at 4pm with half my drink left. No apologies, seemed to consider it my fault for being in there at 4pm. Will never return.

So over priced , Scrambled egg on toast very small and toast was like a brick with no butter on my daughter had the pancakes, but they were more like big thick cake , worst meal ever

Used to be my favourite cafe in Sheffield, really spacious, nice decor. Sadly has gone downhill the last few years. Reduced menu, no vegan options most days, and oddly hostile to folks w laptops. It's understandable not wanting people to buy a single flat white and hang around all day, but 1 hour WiFi per purchase is mad. Surely better to have the place half-full with remote workers of a weekday than utterly dead bar the lunch rush.

Gone massively downhill. Service definitely hasn't improved but at least the food was good. Coffee tastes like Starbucks and food is served stone cold out of fridge so tasteless and uncomfortable eating. Staff are all smiling until they get some criticism...

Modern and cozy with great coffee and plenty of space

Lovely looking cafe and environment to work in but too many rules (upstairs is closed as certain times, can't sit at certain tables even when it's not busy, only 1 hour wifi, need to buy something every hour if working there..), which unfortunately makes me not want to go here as often as other cafes where I can work more easily.

I love how consistent they are with their baked goods. Out of all the branches I prefer this one when I want some me time

Extremely expensive coffee shop. Almost £4 for a small cappuccino which isn’t even very good as it’s far too strong and £5.50 for a toasted tea cake. I think this has to be the most expensive cafe in Sheffield and there’s nothing special about the food. Mediocre place, poor value for money.

There seems to be three or four of these Cafes with the same name in the town. This particular one had a souless interior. I stood at the counter for sometime while the staff appeared to be distracted with something else. By the time I saw a notice saying they didn’t take cash I gave in and went elsewhere.

Coffee was really good but it’s very expensive for a very small cup. Bit of a large bland box to sit in too. Staff are nice.

A hidden gem with a cozy, inviting atmosphere and a blend of rustic and modern decor. The skilled baristas led by “Martin” craft excellent coffee, from robust espressos to smooth lattes and many other hot drinks. The friendly, knowledgeable staff make every visit enjoyable, making “Marmadukes” a perfect spot for coffee lovers and casual visitors alike. This is basically my go-to for a perfect cup of coffee.

Gorgeous cafe with plenty of seating, a great menu and friendly staff. I appreciated the polite request to laptop users (like me) to buy one thing per hour - welcoming but clear. Next time I'm in Sheffield I'll be back.

Card only payment, cash not accepted. Lovely staff but the atmosphere was rather like an airport coffee lounge, I can't put my finger on it but it felt cold and unwelcoming. I would usually have a second coffee but didn't want to stay any longer. Coffee is very good but there wasn't much choice of cake and the one I chose was so dry that I only ate half of it. Husband said the toilet had one of those tiny, silly sinks which are too small to wash your hands in and no toilet roll dispenser, just a row of big toilet rolls which were not actually adjacent to the toilet. He said it's the weirdest toilet he's been in!

I didn’t find the menu at the cafe on Cambridge street inspiring. I went for smoked salmon and cream cheese on gluten free bread. Deliciously rich. I took a risk as a coeliac and suffered for it. It was explained that the kitchen cannot guarantee no cross-contamination. Elsewhere this can be ok, but not here sadly. Important to communicate I feel.

A great find in Sheffield. Scandi vibes but with British hospitality. The croissants are excellent, buttery and flaky. A close second to the Slow Bakery croissants in Rio! I love the ethos behind the cafe (see picture).

Fast service and clearly we'll loved by how busy it gets! The food was gorgeous and they have some lovely bathrooms! Would recommend oat latte and croissant!

Very moody staff, seemed snappy and unhappy. The sandwich although looked delicious was stale and half filled, yet still premium price. The was ok. General vibe was stuffy and uptight

Good service and a great sandwich.

I enjoyed this little coffee shop. Ordered food and coffee from the counter and they gave you a number to place at your table. Coffee was solid and the toasted teacake was good as well. My dad got the sausage sarnie which he really enjoyed. Service was quick and there were easily accessible bathrooms.

Popped in for the amazing Salted Caramel Ganache Brownies that taste like pure heaven. Yes, they are a little expensive, but my god, they are good. Service was a little slow, and a couple of staff seemed distracted, but that could be down to it being a little busy.

I love the venue, and the staff are great. But about the new laptop rule... have you considered maybe just having the big table upstairs as the 'coworking table', and perhaps only till midday? Often, that table doesn't start filling up until nearer lunchtime.

Called in for a coffee with my Mum. I’d never visited any of the Marmaduke cafes before, but had only ever heard good reviews. The place was busy and most tables were full, but we did manage to find a table. Firstly the service was very slow, but I ordered our coffee, paid for it and joined my mum at the not particularly clean table. When our coffee finally arrived, thankfully it was a great coffee, but my mum accidentally spilled some sugar out of the sugar jar, onto our table, We politely asked a young waiter if he could get something to sort out the spilled sugar, to which he politely replied “no problem”. What we didn’t expect was the floor sweeping brush, covered in dust and hair, that he used to clean our table!!!!! My mum and myself just looked at each other in disbelief!! The young man, very pleased with his cleaning up job, replaced the floor brush at the side of the toilets and carried on with his job!! Don’t think we will return, no matter how good the coffee is!

Have recently become weirdly hostile about people working in this branch. You need to buy something every hour to get access to wifi. You're reminded to buy something every hour by signs on tables. Does not create a nice friendly atmosphere. Food has gone downhill too, very expensive for what it is. Used to be an amazing coffee shop, with warm and friendly atmosphere, it's a shame really.

The coffee and ambiance are both nice. The time it takes for a coffee to be ready here is quite long, even when they aren't so busy! The downstairs space is small; however, I enjoy the atmosphere upstairs with its fancy decorations.

This shop is really destroying its own reputation. A few of staff members are really rude, improve your service attitude. Also, the Wi-Fi is limited to one hour and the Wi-Fi code is often out of stock.

I really enjoy every visit to Marmadukes. The coffee is excellent (and yes I am fussy!!) and staff are always friendly and efficient. One of my favourite places for a coffee in Sheffield.

Such a great space to relax and eat amazing, freshly made food. The staff go the extra mile to ensure you have a great experience. Will definitely be going back.

Food took over half an hour to come even though we only ordered food such as pre-made sandwiches and avocado on toast etc. When the food finally came they got the order completely wrong - forgot things and brought out the wrong things. They then offered to bring us what we actually ordered but since the wait was so long we declined and ate what they gave us. The food was good but got no apologies from staff for this mess except bringing us extra coleslaw which didn’t really make up for it tbh. Especially since it was pretty expensive overall.

Our coffees was so lovely tasted 1st time we've been here but both me an my daughter loved it will definitely be back thank you

A bit overrated to be honest. Went for brunch and it was £7.5 for avocado and one slice of toast and then £4.5 extra for halloumi, not sure how they can sustain on this really

This is a central cafe/restaurant. You collect a menu on entering, find a place to sit and then go and order at the counter. Your food and drinks arrive separately. We had the Homity pie and Beetroot & Feta tarts with charred sweetcorn slaw and the food was excellent, very tasty indeed. Coffee was also good. The only negative aspect I would comment on is that they do not clean the tables frequently and when we arrived we had to move the used plates and cups from the previous customers to the long bench. Nobody came to take them away during the time we were there. It did not stop us enjoying our meal (hence the 5 stars) but it was odd for a quality establishment.

Very expensive food for portion sizes. Added halloumi to a smashed avo on toast and they literally shaved off two of the thinnest slices of halloumi to put on top for £4.50. Not good value for money and bizarre addition of shaved bits of ginger on the avo toast. Nice coffee. Didn't enjoy the blondie dessert very much unfortunately

Called for coffee and cake. Counter service. We were given the cakes and a number on a wooden sign for our table for the coffees to be brought to us. We waited and waited and waited......Finally my son went to the counter to query where the coffee was. He was told they were on the end of the counter in disposable cups as they thought they were to take out and had been stood there all along even though we had been given a table number

Who knew Marmadukes had three venues…? So glad I found this one. I had one of the in house Morning Buns (hugely delicious) and I tried one of their guest espresso’s. Massively good. Chilled and welcoming atmosphere, friendly and attentive service and topped with great products. At this point having been to two of Marmadukes premises, I don’t think it matters which you choose, but if you vaguely like coffee and food, visit one and enjoy. Highly recommend 👍👍👍👍

Positives: Best latte I've ever had. It was really delicious. Also, their sarnies are superb quality. Negatives: Extremely slow service. Staff are also slow to help. As lovely as their lattes are, they are very small. Ultimately the main reason I wouldn't visit here again is how expensive everything is, especially their food. Overall: If you have the money, this is a fantastic cafe. But I think I'd have to win the EuroMillions to come here regularly.

I loved it here so much! The best coffee in Sheffield, tasty pastries and plenty of savoury breakfast options. Almond croissant was one of the best I’ve had in a while - delish! I was surprised that the place was not packed more on a Sunday morning but happy we found a nice spot and had such an enjoyable lovely breakkie.

Dissapointing (especially for the proce you pay). As much as I love Marmandukes sorting office I will not be back to this branch. Slow service, forgot about our cakes. Didn't get much help with sorting out the app just a pressure to hurry up as there were people behind me (a girl who served me was not the only one behind the counter so other customers could have been seen by other members if the staff). Sorting office staff much more attentive and nicer and it has better vibes too.

Pricey but nice. Marmadukes gets so much right - tasty food, good quality coffee and fast, friendly service. Expensive but great for the occasional treat.

Called in for a take out coffee with my husband. The staff member serving was very helpful. I have to have decaffeinated drinks (for medical reasons) I saw the person making my drink clean every piece of equipment and made my drink before my husbands, this was very much appreciated. My husband really enjoys a good cup of coffee and also likes to try different coffees, they have guest coffees that are changed regularly and the staff member recommended a one of these to my husband. He really enjoyed his coffee. We will be returning to also try some food.

This cafe has a wonderful vibe and a great selection of sandwiches and coffee. The service is super friendly and it’s all reasonably priced which is a win-win. There’s breakfast, drinks, wine and plenty of space. Next time I’d like to try the sandwiches. Had a peanut butter blondie with my husband and was a little rich but worth a try if you like peanut butter. Be back soon!!

Quite nice, definitely recommend as far as up market cafes go. Nice modern and open plan. Staff seemed abit bewildered when I approached the counter, but I could have just caught them at a bad moment. Service overall good. Food nice too. Personally thought the iced late could be abit bigger for the price but still good. The chocolate pastry with nuts was a highlight

I got a deli sandwich toasted - salami and Emmenthal but unfortunately the chilli jam completely overpowered the savouriness of these star ingredients and I didn't enjoy it. Have given 4 stars as I think this was just down to personal taste and they had so many other things I wish I had room to try on the menu. Service friendly, toilets clean, plenty of seating space even on a Sunday at peak brunch hours. Seems a popular place for people to bring laptops and work at. Quiet chilled atmosphere. Didn't have to book, thankfully had a table on walk in. I would recommend the baked goods in the future (nice croissants!) and the coffee which is top notch.

Excellent food and coffee. Friendly staff, good location. Had a nice breakfast here and bought some coffee beans to take home because the coffee was really good!

They put up signs saying the upstairs is closed “to clean the tables when people leave”. Last time the sign was up for at least 2 hours. It doesn’t take 2 hours to wipe down a few tables. Meanwhile people are going to other cafes that don’t need to section off half the store to clean for 2 hours.

Possibly too cool for its own good. Food good though. Might want to make that card only sign a bit bigger....oh no wait, you don't have a sign........

This is my favorite cafe! friendly and helpful staff, cozy vibes, tasty food, especially breakfast. I highly recommend for meeting with friends or spend time with yourself

This is a nice clean high ceiling space. Strangely though, the coffee takes and age to come and when it does, it's cold.

Lovely new location with gorgeous atmosphere and friendly staff. Roasted aubergine sandwich was incredible however I found the accompanying salad a little dry. Would recommend for a catch up with friends or working lunch.
